    May I say I love your channel and I love the fact that you own a 1984 Corvette. I had a 1998 Vette with many many electrical problems and now that I own a 1984 with only 59000 miles on it the thing runs as reliable as a mid 90s Honda Civic with just normal wear and tear stuff. Very reliable car

    I have the renegade and it does give you the extra hp and you could install 2 inch throttle bodies. And adjust timing to 10 and make the fuel pressure adjustable and bump it up to 15 psi

      After blowing up the perfectly good rebuilt Engine . Because of the crossfire 2 throttle body intake . I took it apart , the heads are made 4 m.p.g. not h.p. small valves and low compression . The engine was destroyed rod through the block . Money waisted big cam pop up pistons every thing
      Crossfire w / small valves choked the life out of it .

    Dude great stuff. As someone who's been in your position financially for a while, it can be frustrating to try to bankroll things when you only work summers. I'd recommend just enjoying it stock as much as you can, making a plan and budget, and budget for breakdowns.

    • @jfisch

      Yeah. This past summer I didn't budget quite enough money for breakdowns but I worked more than I expected to and ended up with enough money.

      @@jfisch save it 4 when it breaks down , and it will . They all do if u keep it long enuf . Why spend money on stuff that u don't need . Save it 4 when it really needs something . That would be the best time to make upgrades and make it faster . I Got this 84 10 years ago and it had been rebuilt bored out heads milled ported , cam lifters you mame it . It still had the crossfire . I always had problems with the problems whole fuel system and computer controlled everything . U could be one of the lucky ones that don't have those issues .A lot of guys and girls say that it was a great car dependable and reliable . All say that they wish they never sold it . They smile when they talk about it and get sad when they talk about when they sold it " the best car they ever had . Worst then that the ones that wrecked there's . All out sideways around corners wide open at the light next to one of those new mustang's u see all over . The next time u see one i of them old rich dudes in there new Vette's . a nother car that u see every 15 min. Smoke Him too , U will , Because he won't even race he's too worried about protecting his investment . He gets pleasure out of just sitting and smelling the new comfortable seats . He spends most of his Vet. Time washing cleaning and detailing . That's O.K. Too , try to keep it like brand new . Whenever I go to the local cars show we all park together . All Corvettes right up front . I meet a lot of Corvette guys and see old friends . Unless they've never seen new Vet. they walk right past the new one and check out My custom Corvette to see what I did to it and complement on all the mods that were Done Right .

    Go easier on yourself. You're not as stupid on engine knowledge as you think. Admitting that you don't know is an admirable trait. It let's viewers know that you're not bullshitting them. Keep with it and you'll keep learning.

    Sorry for too much information I forgot where i was at . I'm on new crazy pain meds for a motorcycle accident . You guys R just looking for a little more power for your street rod . I am a retired Race Car Driver . i crashed the R.C. it had a fresh engine super stock , 500 hp. When i needed a Engine 4 the vet I put it in . It was a lot of work lots of money and I probably wouldn't do it again . I have too much time and $ in it to ever sell it .Its like I'm married to it . It's a love hate relationship . I restor and rebuild Corvettes oun s few and work on them 4 fun lol . the 84 is a Beast , Hard to handle if any body doesn't like a 84 I will show them what's up.. it ran great with the crossfire . Now it's a crazy too fast hot rod . It uses up lots of gas and money .I havev to work on it all the time . Like some one said the most important thing is to have fun , hell ya it's fun .

    You are on the right track with most of what you want to do, the intake on the 84 was the biggest problem the heads were next, both didn't flow much passed 4,000 rpms. As for the renagade intake be careful about where you get it make sure about the return policy as DCS no longer makes them and who ever is making them now have a hit and miss quality from what i hear. The heads are 624 castings and are 76cc not 74. But any way there are plenty of after market heads to choose from nowadays so research, research, research before you buy. I think the cam you've picked is a little smaller then what I'd run but would be fine if you use 1.6 rockers. The first mod you should make is the fuel pump, use the 85 and bump up the fuel pressure to 14psi then set your timing to 12 degrees advanced. You will notice a difference with that alone.. have fun and try not to spend to much money...lol

    • @jfisch
      @jfisch  6 років тому

      Thank you so much for the info. I'm on several C4 forums on Facebook and have done more research online and everyone is saying the same thing you are. Thank you for not being one of those idiots who has no idea what they are talking about and saying I should just carb swap it.

    • @timothythomas8024
      @timothythomas8024 6 років тому +1

      What would be the point of having crossfire corvette if they put a carburetor on it? With the right parts and a little know how, they can run with any c4 out there. The crossfire corvette is worth more if kept that way. It's getting harder and harder to find one untouched. I have two myself and wouldn't trade them for anything newer just because of the cool factor. It's like telling someone that they should put a honda motor on their harley cuz it's faster..lol good luck and have fun.

    • @jfisch
      @jfisch  6 років тому

      Timothy Thomas exactly. It always hurts a little when I see someone ask how to do a carb swap. The Crossfire may not be the greatest injection system in the world but it can get to 350 hp on a top end rebuild which is all I’ll ever need.

    • @Hydra_Daily
      @Hydra_Daily 6 років тому

      Timothy Thomas I own an 84’ Vette aswell with 95k miles and i was wondering about making alittle more power without spending much more than 500.00 at the moment. i already have a manifold back magnaflow system but i have been hearing about using a better fuel pump? it would be great if you could provide a link to one and leave any other tips for making alittle power without going over 500.00 by too much. many thanks!

    • @timothythomas8024
      @timothythomas8024 6 років тому

      @@Hydra_Daily I just used a pump from a 85, you'll need to replace the plug at the pump it's different. Then bump up the fuel pressure to 14lbs then advance the timing to around 12 degrees. That's the easiest and cheapest, now it won't make much more then what it has now, but it should run smoother with better throttle response. The intake is the main problem with the crossfire, it doesn't flow. If you can port the intake great, if not i wouldn't pay someone to do it for you cost would be more then buying a renegade. You could pick up around 10 to 15hp with a hogged out factory intake or up to 25 or 30 with the renagade. I always tell people research before you do anything major, knowing how to do something yourself is always the cheapest. P.S. you could change the rocker arms from 1.5 to 1.6 also.

    I am thinking about getting my hands on a 1984 corvette automatic equipped transmission it doesn't matter the color. Thanks for the list of performance parts when I get me one hopefully the middle of this summer. That way I can cruise the remainder of the summer all the way till the end of the fall with some music blasting and my hair blowing around or as much as a 44 year old man can have. P.S I have more hair than my little brother and my older brother they are balding really bad ha ha ha 😂

      @jfisch  3 роки тому +1

      Haha that sounds great. After the past few months with my 4+3 I'd go with an auto as well. Maybe have a shift kit or a Hurst shifter put in it and it'd really be fun. One thing about this video is that it's a bit old and the Renegade isn't currently in production because the foundry was making bad units. You'll either be looking at waiting who knows how long, porting a stock intake, or switching injection systems.

Id imagine a few people here would agree it may cost more but thats not the point. Its about having fun and learning on a motor that people said u couldn't do nothing with the stock computer well many people have proven them wrong.
      I may have come across a bit rude and i do apologize for that i dont mean to be its just theres nothing wrong with the car its just the computer really and were just trying to make it better but keep it CFI.

    Don't quote me on years and exactly what is what unless it's really important critical technical get a 2ns. Opinion always . 1968 was the first C3 Vt. It has the same as frame as Earlier models just the new Body style . Kind of like 84 but they had good engine's back then . Pretty much the same block and crank w,/flat top or pop up pistons . The heads had bigger valves , Port's , and more compression . The cam had higher lift and. Duration - stay open longer . Same with exhaust . Get more in then get it out quick . That was stock . About 100 horse + Vets had options for more if u spend the $ . They had a 327 with 375,hp. That would wind up quick . Some guys shift at 8,000rpm that makes factory ratings mis leading if they say ,300hp @5,000rpm .what is it at 8,ooo? If you had the Big bucks u could get a ,396, 427,or 454 depending on the year . Like 500 H.P. stock . Those are the cars that bring the most $ . I saw one in a barn it is a 1969 , 427 , 3 - 2,barel carbs 4 speed black and beautiful chiomb side pipes , convertible . ,,5,000 miles . He never drives it , it's just parked in the barn , Yes it is worth a lot of $ but what a shame kinda sad , my favorite car of all Time's Parked .To each his oun . There are a lot of 84's put a way like that with no miles . They trailer them to car shows and park then ? Just hang out and talk about it to any body that will listen . If thats what u want to do ok . I enjoy driving them . I allmost forgot I think u were saying that 84 first C4 is worth more? keep it original? History? The 68 stingray first year is Not as desirable as a , 69 . They Always have issues with the first year Just like ours . I wish it was worth a lot more money too . But if it was way too high priced I might not be able to afford it. I'm not one of them matching numbers guys . I Sold a 75 C3 ,4 speed . The guy asked me if the trans is matching #? . It was like 6" off the ground . I told him that i think it is , crawl under it and look if U want, Who is going to look and see,#™? 😯 Who Cares ?#$?
