This kind of scene is literally all throughout the movie. They just do it so well that you don’t pick up on how the conversation of one set of characters in an entirely different scene, blends with the conversation of other characters in other scenes, with at least three layers at a time!
the two engineers toking as they swap the no doubt highly radioactive power for the rocket-plane while their pals throw flames on the alien parasite fauna are unforgettable legends
What’s even crazier is the idea that in this future they have advanced knowledge of nuclear and theoretical physics that rivals scientists today yet they’re basically blue collar types smoking weed and having a great time doing it.
Someone tell me one movie that so perfectly and seamlessly combines six different scenes into one, with the script flowing butter-smooth through each one.
I've always been fascinated with this movie's vision for the future. If you look at 3:48, it shows that water levels have gone so low that all of Manhattan is now in a very high plateau! The Statue of Liberty is shown to be sitting on a base the size of Empire State Building... All of the areas which used to be seabed are now completely industrialized and inhabited... That's a pretty crazy view, though I suppose it's completely wrong now, seeing how global warming is going to make water levels rise, not fall.
This movie had some of the best looking women that I ever seen, particularly the flight attendants. They all stood out in their unique way. Everyone looks the same nowadays, facial-wise.
This movie is so well-done, the directors , production designers and the writers thought about so many details that even the background actors and extras have tons and tons personality, like the flying staff setting up the spaceship. From the flight attendants to the maintenance staff, with all that crazy Jamaican good vibe and the editing at the beat of that reggae song... damn!!!!! You don't find these kinds of subtle details and layers in 90% of those junk Netlix-Amazon movies, they only make movies like they were making fast pancakes, to eat them up, chew them up and eat the next one. You gotta respect when directors and film staff put all that effort to make a more complex and rich film. (and yes 5th element complete underrated, in this era would have been fire !!! )
Why though? There were many sex scenes in mainstream movies back in the day that were "camouflaged" like this where they would just show people pant and make faces, and I think Sony treated The 5th Element as a comedy of sorts (since it's not nearly as serious as The Star Wars or such).
The attendant's uniform is everything. I love it. I know now where the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2006 was inspired by. Jean Paul Gaultier did an excellent job in this movie.
I remember being in a random person’s house and they had this movie on and I was around five years old and I was so fucking confused and creeped out lmaooo
Pause at 3:49 and take a good look at the city. It was YEARS before I noticed the water level compared to the buildings. And how high the Statue of Liberty is. Such detail in just a few seconds
"Me protect you." That's EXACTLY what Leeloo does at the end. When the elements combine, and she destroys the Dark Planet, she's not doing it to save Earth, she's doing it for Korben.
I am fascinated by the cityscape of New York / Manhattan near the end of the clip. The water level of the Atlantic ocean has dropped what appears to be hundreds of feet! The original bridges are at their original heights and everything has been built downwards. Monuments such as the statue of liberty remain too at their original altitude. Super cool vista to find hidden detail in.
Every single time I watch this movie or a clip of it- I instantly feel as though I’m watching an anime! LOL. The sheer style of it really moves like one!
I remember when I first watched this movie, it was with my childhood friend. We were around 8 years old. My friend's innocent mind thought she was moaning because he was kissing her feet. Ah good days😂
Fun fact the flight attendant who gets it on with Chris appears in the opening scene of Resident Evil. Shes the poor corporate lady that takes an elevator to the face.
Fun fact: this movie has more major speaking roles with people of color, who all also had somewhat lead roles, than any other major science fiction franchise including Star Wars, Star Trek, Harry Potter, Twilight and Hunger Games. Only the MCU comes close
@@FatGouf That is why the future depicted in this movie feels so natural to me. Ruby Rod is wearing this really fruity rose dress but ends up eating out a beautiful flight attendant.

I love the reggae jam in the background. Just adds such a cool laid back feeling to this sci-fi space opera.
