You should do all these things for yourself and not necessarily to get your exe's attention, because your ex may not care even after you do all of these. Good thing is its a win win for yourself because even if you don't get him/her back the newer you will definitely attract a better person than your ex.

We had no contention. She was deeply affected by the loss of her grandma and slipped into depression. Started taking antidepressants and slowly pulled back. I said is is the opposite he was flying and other woman’s rejected him and he back to me because he knew it I loved him … I still love him but he has to go … I’m struggling on moving on… but I took the right decision I deserve better …

My ex was crippled with depression from previous relational trauma that was triggered in our relationship, no matter how hard I tried to understand and be patient and kind and loving, he decided he couldn’t handle the pain anymore. He said he needed to know what it felt like to be alone again, to “see if something reveals itself,” despite loving me more deeply than “anything on earth.” It’s awful when there isn’t anything you can do to stop their pain.

One of the major challenges is when there are children involved and they still want to see you with their mother. As a father, don't cave into the pressure but always remain a gentleman, especially when the kids are around.
