It always seemed like a song about a guy who loses his mind on drugs. "He said, 'Son...Son you've gone too far. 'Cause smokin' and trippin' is all that you do...'"

Also, the third season (Star Dust Crusaders) involves a lot of shit. Literally. You see turds in the third part constantly.
Sabbath's secret weapon is the Ward/Butler rhythm section, and those incredible jazz influenced time changes. There is also a strong element of swing that is evident here, as well as in many other Sabbath songs.
You gotta remember (or else as new fans you maybe just don't know) Black Sabbath started as a blues jam band before they discovered the doom sound they used so well so their music is always infused with a blues-y metal sound. In fact some of their best songs, like War Pigs, started out as jams that kept expanding. What a great band.

This song is about Skinheads. At the time in England, Skinheads were not racists, but punks and anarchists. They usually wore boots, which is how Sabbath got the title. Regarding the rest of the words, guitarist Tony Iommi said, "We smoked a lot of dope, so that might be why some of the lyrics are a bit unusual." The lyrics were inspired by an incident after a Sabbath concert in 1970. The band was attacked by a bunch of Skinheads after the show, injuring Tony Iommi and forcing them to cancel their next performance
In the 2010 documentary film Classic Albums: Black Sabbath's Paranoid, Geezer Butler states the music was inspired by the band's encounter with skinheads, who are the "fairies" in the song. However, in the 2004 release of Black Box: The Complete Original Black Sabbath (1970-1978), Tony Iommi states the title was inspired from an incident when Geezer and Ozzy were smoking cannabis and saw fairies in boots running around a park, and not from an attack by skinheads. IT IS SO COOL watchin you cats rock out to tunes for the first time~! Takes me waaaaaaaaayyy back and I fall in love with the tunes all over again. THANKS!!!
I love this channel. This song takes me back to 1972, age 16, skipping school after lunch and getting high at a friends house or at my house with this blasting away on some cheap Sears console stereo. Hearing this for the very first time was like the same reaction you two had.
I actually read the book "I Am Ozzy" and in it he says still has no idea what that song is about. He did say he wrote it during a night of doing hard drugs and drinking.
Thank YOU. This is my favorite tune by Black Sabbath. Each member of this band was so integral, it couldn't have existed without any one of them. Cable Channel AXS featured Paranoid on their Classic Album series, where every song is picked apart and the musicians themselves play their individual parts and talk about it. It's also fascinating to see video of the band play as young men, flapping and flailing all over the place, compared to later reunion footage, where they are well-dressed, distinguished elder statesmen who make the same music appear almost effortless. (With the exception of Ozzy, of course, lol.) I'm a new subscriber; lovin' you guys. Gotta come up with a song to add to what is a lengthy list of requests.
Can't go wrong with Sabbath. I'd suggest checking out their 3rd album, Master of Reality. Every song is a masterpiece. If you end up choosing Children of the Grave, make sure to play the instrumental just before it, it leads into and adds the song. Into the Void is one of my favorite guitar riffs ever. Tony Iommi is the master at writing killer riffs.
Black Sabbath is my favorite band all time hands down bar none. And it brings me so much joy to watch you guys hear this stuff for the first time. Your reactions are priceless, keep up the great work.
I’m pretty sure they’ve done NIB? Rat salad they could have done with this song since it’s an extension of fairies on the actual album ( or it’s to Hand of Doom) in which case yeah rat salad would be cool
BackStabbath Supernaut has some tasty drumming in it. I will say, a lot of people credit Rush and Zeppelin for starting the whole progressive movement, but many forget that Black Sabbath did a lot of progressive stuff in their music. It might not have gotten really crazy on a technical level, but their material has movements and thematic ideas that are common in prog songs.

A National Acrobat is another underrated song!
So is Megalomania and the Writ!!
Love the sounds and animation that the both of you make while you enjoy the music!♡
Smoking and tripping last line of the song is what whole song is about lol, my gen of music I grew up on this Shyte. Saw Sabbath in Concert 3 times.
The song makes me smile
Your reactions make me smile more
N.I.B hands down!!
Oh yeah!
I’m so pleased to have found your channel. I thoroughly enjoy watching you gentlemen get the groove. Sabbath, county, whatever; you rock.
I love your channels. It brings a smile to my face watching you guys experience music I listened to my entire life for the first time.
Symptom Of The Universe!!
I didn't know you watched Lost In Vegas. Nice to see you here.
Best riff, ever.
Canadian Studmuffin speak of the devil version 👍
My favourite Sabbath song
The Sepultura cover?
This and Children of the Grave are my favorite Sabbath jams.
You guys are always spot on!
My favorite reaction channel.
Man like you guys a lot, making me feel old. Thanks for the trip down memory lane, found Sabeth in my teens the early 80s final. Never thought I'd be around for two new forms of rock, shout and growl, keep up the good work.
Black Sabbath - Sabbath Bloody Sabbath
This is by far the best reaction channel.
yeah for sure
This is the ONLY reaction channel! All others are copycats.
Agreed. Like it's not even close...
Well...they at least try to expand their horizons ;) They should try Emperor - "The Oath/ye Entrancemperium"...
MrTitaylor by a wide margin
Older video. Huge meaning. My uncle has a shot of me at 9 months old holding onto his stereo and head banging in 1984 to this album. Love this Chanel to death.
Haha that's awesome 🤟
I love watching you young men and your enthusiasm over music I have listened to for years! They are fantastic in concert...seen them so many times, I've lost count!! New subbie from Pa. 💕👢💜🎧🎶🔥💕
This song is about Skinheads. At the time in England, Skinheads were not racists, but punks and anarchists. They usually wore boots, which is how Sabbath got the title. Regarding the rest of the words, guitarist Tony Iommi said, "We smoked a lot of dope, so that might be why some of the lyrics are a bit unusual."
The lyrics were inspired by an incident after a Sabbath concert in 1970. The band was attacked by a bunch of Skinheads after the show, injuring Tony Iommi and forcing them to cancel their next performance
^^^^
Who wears boots, ya Skinheads? FAIRIES WEAR BOOTS! #Deuces
In Ozzy Osbourne's autobiography I Am Ozzy he stated he doesn't know what the song is about, but everybody told him he wrote the lyrics.
I've known this tune since I was a teenager. Seeing you guys bob your heads gets me bobbing mine all over again. Rock on my friends.
U guys brightened my day with this reaction to this song. I'm 39 now and I love this song. It's really fun to play and sing. Great vibes! Thanks guys!
great to see the praise for Bill Ward
Dante Ruivo agree. Underrated as hell
Bill is great!
Bill Ward is so very talented, too often overlooked.
Black Sabbath - Children of the Grave (Requested this for a long time, but I guess any Sabbath is welcome).
another all time favorite black sabbath song!
Master Of Reality was a groundbreaking album, so heavy for the time.
Been playing bass for over 40 years and I don't know how my bass playing would have turned out like if I didn't hear Geezer!! And I'm sure that there are thousands of bass players can agree with me on there mentors who they learned from! Thanks Geezer!! Love and respect!
Right on! .. you guys made made me re-appreciate this song so much .. thanks so much. what a groove..
Symptom of the Universe - Black Sabbath
YEahHEHEA boi
Art Conrad YEAH BOY
with that flamenco part. It would blow there minds!
The drumming will finish them
the breakdown at the end of that song gives me chills and sets me free
You would LOVE Sabbath "The Wizard"...Probably my fav sabbath groove...Sick harmonica jam
Y'all are the professionals. I love this channel as it has helped me rediscover my love of Black Sabbath. I was big into them during my teens, now at 39, I love them again. Thank you guys. The best channel on UA-cam.
IT IS SO COOL watchin you cats rock out to tunes for the first time~! Takes me waaaaaaaaayyy back and I fall in love with the tunes all over again. THANKS!!!
Black sabbath - sweat leaf
It's about weed btw lmao
I grew up listening to Black Sabbath. Best band ever. Please try NIB.
The bass to NIB gonna kill em.
THIS IS MY FAVORITE BLACK SABBATH SONG OF ALL TIME!!!! I just love the guitar licks with the "da na na -nana da na na-nana!" or something like that.
I love this channel. This song takes me back to 1972, age 16, skipping school after lunch and getting high at a friends house or at my house with this blasting away on some cheap Sears console stereo.
Hearing this for the very first time was like the same reaction you two had.
pretty sure Ozzy was just trippin balls man lmao
Taylor Kathleen I’m sure it was a song about a trip lol
😂 facts!
Surprisingly I believe it was actually Butler who wrote it, and it was about skinheads.
Frank Hubbard IV that’s actually pretty interesting, thanks for sharing!
@@taylorkathleen1405 a buddy of mine is a massive sabbath fan that's one of the random things I remember him mentioning.
Ozzy's Diary of a Madman album has many great tracks...!!!!
You boys bring a smile to my face with your enjoyment and enthusiasm of some of the best music of my youth
I actually read the book "I Am Ozzy" and in it he says still has no idea what that song is about. He did say he wrote it during a night of doing hard drugs and drinking.
Down - Stone The Crow!!!
Black Sabbath - Children of the Grave
I believe that this song is the first metal song
Into the void is really lovely too
(With the exception of Ozzy, of course, lol.)
I'm a new subscriber; lovin' you guys. Gotta come up with a song to add to what is a lengthy list of requests.
2 years old!! Still a favorite review of mine!! Ya All KEEP IT 100 !! A timeless review,, and a timeless song!! Thanks
BigMateo24 Master of Reality is my favorite Sabbath album with Paranoid in second place. That album is so heavy and powerful!
I love that you have appreciation for my favourite band
Black Sabbath is my favorite band all time hands down bar none. And it brings me so much joy to watch you guys hear this stuff for the first time. Your reactions are priceless, keep up the great work.
SabbaTH
Symptom Of The Universe
aaron noller man the guitar tone in Symptom is so modern for the time! Insane!
Black sabbath - N.I.B
Black sabbath - rat salad
Yes, NIB, into the void, the Wizard, snowblind...
...No matter what you select, you cannot go wrong.
I’m pretty sure they’ve done NIB? Rat salad they could have done with this song since it’s an extension of fairies on the actual album ( or it’s to Hand of Doom) in which case yeah rat salad would be cool
Rat Salad has such good drumming on it. Probably some of Ward’s best stick work.
Jessie Klupp my favorite of his probably has to be children of the grave or supernaut
BackStabbath Supernaut has some tasty drumming in it. I will say, a lot of people credit Rush and Zeppelin for starting the whole progressive movement, but many forget that Black Sabbath did a lot of progressive stuff in their music. It might not have gotten really crazy on a technical level, but their material has movements and thematic ideas that are common in prog songs.
just coming back 4 years later to say thank you , you guys sabbath marathon got me through covid- i used to wait for your new videos and it got me through the first lockdown,
REALLY enjoy your reactions!!!! THANK YOU!!!!
So many good songs to listen to by them...Sweet Leaf, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, Symptom of the Universe, Hole in the Sky, Into the Void, Children of the Grave, Supernaut...and that's just a small sample.
nib saddah caddabrah, planet caraban or something like that xd
If they do hole in the sky, they should do a double reaction to BS's version then Pantera's.
