This is a feedback from Chinese college student, I feel so fortunate to view this video, which explained clearly core techniques of structural family therapy. I agree most the point that making boundaries is different from cutting off connections with family members. On the contrary, making boundaries and restructuring family system could help family members feel more comfortable and flexible in their relationships, explore efficient coping mechanisms to deal with conflicts. And finally I’m so grateful for such a treasure of study resources, as a donated dance of Minuchin. Based on the past reading I could understand most of video’s viewpoints, some details are a little difficult for me but I would review them later. Thanks again!❤

I would really like to see how a live/pre-recorded version of an enactment unfolds. Dr. Gehart, do you know of any resources for this?

The only video I have on was created by Cengage and is part of the eBook of Mastering Competencies in Family Threrapy: www.cengage.com/c/mastering-competencies-in-family-therapy-a-practical-approach-to-theories-and-clinical-case-documentation-3e-gehart/9781305943278/

I don't know of an free ones because recorded videos of clients SHOULD always be under password protection...although my students tell me this isn't always the case.

I don't understand why you can't ask your client to educate you about their culture when families even within the same culture interpret the dominant culture differently. Doesn't it make more sense to ask them since you may rely on a text and find it is totally wrong? Isn't relying only on a text making assumptions about how your client interprets that culture. I'm mixed race, so I find this to be especially true: My culture isn't in any text book.
