Merry Christmas Chooms! I hope you all enjoyed and are having a great day. Let me know all your thoughts about the video or your holiday down below! Hopefully everyone has someone to be with on this occasion!
The sandevistan has never been depicted as pure time control, it's even shown in the anime to just enhance the users speed and reflexes to inhuman levels, yet so many people still believe it's some magical time slowing device cause that's how it's depicted in game. They seem to forget that if it were running at the same rate as the enhanced speed, they'd hit it, walk forwards, and end up 5 blocks away without knowing how it happened or what events transpired in between. The slow visual is just for ease of use for the player to easily follow what's happening.
I feel like this has always been obvious. I just call it slowing time because it technically is from my (the player's) perspective. I understand the reality of it, but it does slow down time from a gameplay perspective (and obviously the game's code as well). Maybe not everyone, but I think at least some of the people saying that it slows time is more just out of simplicity.
@@mosthole you must not be on reddit then, the amount of people confused about how the sandy works is insane. People just can't seem to make this very obvious connection, i too have pointed out that you can scan enemies and some of them will have sandevistan in their arsenal and that's what the super quick cyberpsychos and other mid to high level enemies commonly have, and that that is how it looks to the ai when the player does it. I wasn't talking about you or the other guy specifically, just stating my opinion on the amount of people who DON'T understand. If you understood, why even comment.
It's literally just like dbz. They slow it down so we as an "untrained observer" can keep up. How else would you visually express these concepts? That's an honest question.
@hughmann9568 i can't think of a single other way to show this effect, which is why it's so baffling that it's still seen as time manipulation by a lot of people. If it's the only surefire way to give us a perspective on what is happening, why haven't they arrived at that conclusion as well? I think it stems from the fact that not many interested in the video game have looked into any of the decades of lore and information from the ttrpg and various literature, choosing to only focus on the game and/or the anime, or just never knowing that cyberpunk has a very long history besides that of the more recent popular media.
You’d think fact that automatic guns don’t cycle faster with sandy would give it away, but apparently not. At least for me personally I would expect them to cycle faster if it was time manipulation.
Honestly anytime ‘time manipulation’ or specifically slowing time appears as a mechanic in a game. I’m under the assumption the character is entering a state where they have super human reflexes and speed. Unless stated otherwise.
Maybe the fact that they know people can be trapped in the net thus a somewhat form of immortality in a way. It’s so confusing that there’s almost infinite theories you can pull from it.
i hated that scene. there's several moments in the game where you're explicitly warned from just unplugging a netrunner who's jacked in. when you rescue bugbear, and when wakako has you save the guy under the restaurant. and johnny just runs up and unplugs her and kills her and blames it on arasaka.
@@scottbrowder8304 yup, actions have consequences. if johnny was patient her couldve saved her life, although i do understand the emotional reaction he had
Morgan Blackhand being unaugmented, "pure meat" individual is also popular misconception. I don't know from where it originates (maybe his filosophy that chrome isn't the end game for good soldier) but he is heavly augmented.
I think Morgans message of "meat is better" stems from him losing his arm (idk but likely in the war just like Johnny) And also, like Johnny, he would have rather had his original arm back. So i think maybe Morgans message is more about others who intentionally replace parts of themselves and how by doing so you are giving a part of yourself to the corps. You have to remember that even just getting a basic neural port puts you into the eco-system of needing medications, updates and mandatory upgrades or you will be left behind leaving you vulnerable to viruses and hackers. And that's just a neural port/personal link! Now imagine what it would be like having something like your eyes replaced/augmented, Crazy Gary was right about one thing, your eyes are not your own, even if no one else is using them.
@@Free_Krazy His message is not "meat is better", you are one of those who believes in this strange misconception. His message is "no cyberware can replace experience". He augmented himself pretty heavly - apart from his cyberarm he also has Sandevistan, smartgun link, cybernetic eyes, anti-chemical filters and skeletal-muscular enhancements. And also unlike Silverhand, Morgan was a corpo merc shamelessly working for Militech, so double misconception.
Adam Smasher is a psycho, but not cyberpsycho, quite possibly he should have been categorized as psychotic even before he put on chrome. Functional psychopaths exists around us, it is possible that the cyberware did not affect Smasher the same as most people due to the fact he had none of the characteristics that usually are affected by the overuse to begin with. Johnny on the other hand displays so many psychopathic tendencies, its hard to choose one to start with, maybe absurd lack of empathy and strange rationalizations he uses to justify some of his actions, not to mention how self centered he is, most people just say he is a rock star that on substance abuse spree, but the truth is he was just unstable and add PTSD on top of that as a the cherry of the powder keg,
I mean, technicalities. He always was a psycho (he is not psychotic, he's a psychopath, very different). This doesn't mean he can't be described as a functional CyberPsycho as a lot of the characteristics are subjective and like the Sandi need visual representation that may be ambiguous visually, whether it actually appears how it is shown or that's purely for us, the viewer. Most CyberPsycho's are more machine than man and have episodes where their personal, private (important as they are usually stressed hiding these things from others), and violent issues take over their rational side or urge to appear "normal". Adam Smasher doesn't need to hide himself and his violent tendencies, his urges are welcomed and if he was always a psycho, then being almost fully cybernetic, he can certainly be called a CyberPsycho; functioning, of course. It doesn't matter if the chrome came later. In that universe lingo is key, psychopaths... I doubt the word means much in a place full of them.
Cool video. There are some other misconceptions I can think of, even though some are explained in 2077. The key one I know of is that some players still think that the Johnny Silverhand that V communicates with via the Relic is him but don't realise that he's now nothing more than an AI that has taken the form of Johnny Silverhand. A similar scenario happens to V if Alt uses Soulkiller on him/her, but instead it's a copy of V in V's body and technically the real V is gone. This is explained very clearly in game but there are still some that don't realise it. Also, I personally believe that Misty's tarot cards reveal the true fate of each ending, especially when she predicts V will have a long life ahead in the Star ending, will reach ultimate fame in the Sun ending, shouldn't trust Arasaka in the Devil ending, and is trapped in the Temperance ending. Especially as the ending achievements are named after the tarot cards
See you say that, however you are asking the science characters. The more spiritual, seem to think it is the same person, fuck, the fact we still play as V strongly suggests that it is more than just a copy
The Relics are NOT AI. Delamain is a AI, he was never human. AIs were either never human or been on the net so long they FORGOT their humanity. Whether it's V or Johnny, the version of them that lives on is still strictly human. It's more a Brain Transplant than anything. They are not AI, they still have their humanity. After LEAVING their humanity and joining Alt, then they'd be AI.
That's about the same as saying the teleporters in sci fi that scramble you and reassemble you in a different place are killing you. Yes, technically, but also not really. Also you really just went "aktshually you're not talking to Johnny's soul you're talking to a digital copy of him"
I'm genuinely surprised there were people thinking that the sourcebooks aren't canon to 2077 because if you know the sourcebooks then you probably know RED exists, and it's whole purpose was literally to fill in the gaps between 2020 and 2077. The first time I saw someone say "The sourcebooks aren't canon to 2077" my immediate first thought was "What's the point of RED's lore then."
Casual fans thinking Sandy/Kov/reflex boosters are akin to the Speed Force is laughable yet understandable. Although it’s stated to be neuroware, since as far as I know, did we ever know that Sandevistan was implanted onto the vertebrae of the user until Edgerunners? And what about the other OS’s?
The Sandevistan effects remind me of Psychedelics in how it works. It doesn't slow down time, it makes your brain work outside of time and its restraints.
Funny it is not just Psychedelics. I have personally been in a situation that scared me so badly that while I was moving at very fast speeds to remove myself from the situation, everything appeared to be in slow motion. Almost as if my mind and body went into overdrive. Now I can't say that I looked like I was moving at sandevistan speed as I don't know what it looked like to others, but what it feels like in gameplay is what it felt like to me.
@@HollowKZ Regardless of the reason it's strange, stressful and awesome all at the same time. Would love to know what it looks like from the other side, probably just some idiot freaking out lol.
@@D3M3NT3Dstrang3r It's adrenaline, and a combination of other hormones and chemicals. The brain can for a short duration literally turn off any non esential process and go into overdrive. Generally, it's for situations of life and death, when that's the only important thing.
Shout-out to another choom holding the "Angel is Alt 2.0" torch. I've been having to defend that point multiple times. Now I can just point them to this video which will make my life easier. Thank you.
@@LayedBackGamers So, to share the answer to the most asked counterpoint, "how did Arasaka get the engram?". We know that Johnny's old gun and car were in the hands of Samantha originally, the one who preserved Johnny's body and sent it to Angel in "Black Dog". Since Adam and his sidekick have those items in 2077, this unfortunately implies Adam tracked down Samantha and took them. He also likely extracted the details of the Black Dog mission and went to Los Alamos. By this time, Angel and Johnny 2.0 had left Johnny's body but left behind the original Soulkiller chip used by Spider Murphy to preserve Johnny's engram. Adam retrieved those, passed the chip to Arasaka and dumped Johnny's body. Given the age of the chip, the engram Arasaka made and we interact with in-game is an inferior copy with reconstructed false memories. I don't think Adam encountered Angel or Johnny 2.0 because due to how surprised he is to learn Johnny is the one in V's body in the normal "Sun" ending. If he'd already seen Johnny come back from the dead before, this would be old hat by now.
He actually became a Borg because he got absolutely obliterated by a rocket. Arasaka gave him the choice to either pull the plug, or become Borg funny enough
I hate the belief of an alternate timeline. Makes alot of problems and causes confusion with consuming cyberpunks world and story especially for the new players. Hell im still confused on some parts of major events in Cyberpunk and it would really make me hesitate to read and dig into the previous lore as I love 2077. Experiencing a good story especially in the canon source material is much better than an "oh it was all a dream" cliche. Though im hoping V survives and leaves Night City I feel Mike might hit us with a curveball considering Johnny Silverhand has always been in the back of his head and has been connected to almost every story.
Yeah and, even if the Relic could fully resurrect Jackie, it would just be doing the same to him as it does to V. Rewiring his brain so that only Johnny's consciousness can survive in it long-term.
I'm still convinced that cyber psychosis is just normal psychosis in a cyborg. The trauma of the setting, the trauma of surgery in a system that doesn't value life, having a visual representation of your own dehumanization, and becoming more of a weapon than humans already are, is BAD for a persons mental health, so it starts developing more in people who have been chromed up. (mind you, anyone can develop psychosis. There are lots of things that can alter the brains function until a person starts manifesting psychotic symptoms.) So the Adam Smasher question becomes as simple as, can you be both sociopathic and psychopathic at once? and I honestly think the answer is yes. I don't think Adam smasher is broken in a way that makes him unable to become cyber psycho. I think he's permanently psycho in a way that has allowed him to build up the psycho equivalent of coping mechanisms, to still function as a merc, while others are crippled by how sudden the onset of their psychosis can be. YES calling him psycho is a bit ableist, but I'm also a high-functioning psycho, so I reserve the right to call big papa what I please.
I really like this take, there are similar canon bits in the modern Deus Ex games, there is a readable somewhere how having a bionic limb means it connects with the nervous system and communicates with the brain, only the high tech implant does it with the strength of an electronic device like a megaphone compared to the human limbs, organs etc. I think there is a similar readable in CP77 about how your loved ones are a tiny bit psycho through their bionic hand or industrial spine. In my head canon it makes sense why you then have to have actual ram sticks or chipset interfaces implanted into your brain
Canonically, the main risk factor for cyberpsychosis is getting too much chrome. It's not just regular psychosis that happens to be occurring in a cyborg-peoples' body chemistry and physicality are being exogenously altered, they get dysphoria, their perception of who they are is distorted in ways that're all exclusive to having chrome. Of course, there are people who're predisposed to getting cyberpsychosis for the reasons that you mentioned. Those predispositions are represented by their humanity level. As you get chromed, your humanity decreases. People raised in good homes, by loving parents, etc. generally fair better. Thematically, cyberpsychosis-specifically since 2077 and RED, is commentary on America's mental health epidemic, which is probably why you feel the way you do. In real life right now, America suffers from the same issues depicted in the game (obviously to a lesser degree): the repercussions of what should be socially provided services being privatized, institutional and epistemological failure, unaffordable and unobtainable healthcare, cultural deterioration...leading to people with a deep despair for life getting their hands on a gun and doing bad things. That's what cyberpsychosis is meant to represent, so you're sorta right that it is just "regular psychosis with cyborgs" in that regard.
@@ydkwil I mean. at that point the chrome is just one more thing that causes psychosis. And again I want to emphasize that psychosis is a thing that can effect anyone. A good knock or extended social isolation is all it takes to start triggering symptoms in some people. It doesn't make it a special form of psychosis just because its related to cybernetics. As someone already prone to bad mental health, getting butchered at a botched surgery didn't do much good for my mind. having things more physically replaced would DEFINITELY make things even worse. Some people have reported hearing the thoughts of the people their kidney transplant came from. Like I really don't think its about body chemistry changes from cybernetics so much as experienced traumas that cause the symptoms to manifest. having your body stripped away, and replaced with weaponry triggers that. Hell, it's the same reason soldiers from fascistic regimes become so dangerous to bring back home after getting reprogrammed into killing machines. You stop being able to see yourself as a human, and just a man shaped killing machine. For that reason it reads to me more like when medical diagnoses get mishandled in their early history because there isn't a deep enough professional understanding of the topic. Its getting classed as something special not because their psychosis is special but because they are cybernetically enhanced, and thus often more dangerous. Sooo a legal/media buzzword used for alarmist misinformation, to justify a larger more violent response. Kinda like how the feds call everyone they don't like the T word.
So with Jackie's death I think due to him having been shot I think the relic was becoming active, as it's looking for a shell correct? What if it had been trying to kill him in order to take over? Cause as we saw with Panam after she got hit with a turret round from her truck, she was still able to use a MaxDoc to heal that wound, and why wasn't Jackie able to? I am taking a guess and giving an idea of what could of happened. When placing the Relic into him it gave restrictions, since he had been hurt he wasn't able to use a MaxDoc to heal the wound which is why he had been trying to stay strong and joke cause he knew the moment he passes on and the Relic is in his head still it would of caused a force recovery as it did with V, and think about the injuries. V gets one to the skull, sure the caliber of the gun wasn't enough but V was dead it wasn't until the Relic kicking on to cause the body to heal itself and become a perfect shell for the Relic, yet Jackie's was to his gut with a higher caliber and he got out of the tower after four to five floors and died in the car. So the Relic itself had been trying to kill Jackie off to make the relic become active and heal those injuries. Imagine if that had been the cause, V dies and you suddenly wake up as Jackie aka Silverhand having no clue what happened while the memories slowly take hold after awhile, and honestly the story may of ended up exactly how Silverhand had it the first time tower gets blown up again, instead of Saburo Arasaka it's Hanako and Yorinobu Arasaka, and you never know since they both might get very curious about how the Relic worked and decided to keep Silverhand under supervision and bring up anything to see how Jackie Welles lived his life. Basically comparing and looking into when the change had happened, naturally it makes you curious what would of happened if Jackie and/or V had kept the Relic inside of Jackie's head would the Relic of taken over the body and given Silverhand another life or would it of shut down and stopped working? It makes one wonder, since it took V to getting a bullet and damaging it to cause the Relic to take over, but was it already doing that to Jackie? Since Jackie when transferring thing's his eyes turned orange but when the Relic had been put into his head they suddenly went to blue, so was the Relic doing that or was it just how Jackie took installing cyberware? Makes one wonder what would of happened if the Relic was still in Jackie's head when he passed away and was sent to his mother, while V well they would of been killed off by Dex, and the death of Saburo may of been Pinned on Dex and V after Takamura clearing Yorinobu since Dex had been the Fixer to do the plan and V had been the one who broke in. I only think about this because the Relic healed V who had brain damage due to the bullet and even with the Relic being Damaged by it to cause the effect, but Jackie already passed away so would it of done it's original purpose and healed Jackie's wounds just to give Silverhand a new body or would the Relic stop functioning due to the host passing on? As we know the Relic holds someone's life and mentality in a way, so with someone who is dead would it just install or become useless? When it comes to V, I believe the process had been halted due to the Relic being a tad damage, and it had slowly started taking over. Meaning the Relic was active the moment V flatline until the bullet had damaged it, meaning if the bullet had been slightly off and missed the Relic it may of started to install itself completely. Next thing you know you don't wake up as V but as Silverhand crawling out of the dump, then it could of been the story of Silverhand reclaiming his life annnd doing all the bs again. I wish there was more info on the Relic and how it affects a body when they die.
When I play the game I don't imagine that time is slowed by the sandy. What I imagine is that my reaction time, reflexes and speed have been increased so dramatically that everything SEEMS to be slow around me
@sparklefoxzz He will give you a concussion and a fractured eye socket if you keep boring him with ur demands. Cyber Santa is going to do what he pleases and what pleases Cyber Santa is pains (everyone else) and gains (himself).
Sandevistan/Kerenzikov technology is technically feasible. The speed of nerve signal conduction is fairly slow compared to the speed of electricity, which in turn is slower than the speed of light. Any cyberware that replaces nerves with wires is going to perceive time faster.
human nerves are ridiculously complex, they're nothing like your average copper wires. We know too little about the human brain to even begin to think about basic cyberware, let alone Kerenzikov. Also, our reaction times have many limitations, most importantly our general musculature which is way slower than nerve conduction
I've heard it mentioned that "in theory" it could work, but that was also followed by the cavate that with currently medical knowledge it would likely be impossible to install it and have the subject survive the process. Its also worth adding that, even if the speed at which the brain sends it messages to the body increases dramatically, there are also hard limits on how fast a human body can actually move.
Another thing to consider about destroying the Old Net is that is where AI Alt and her Ghosttowns of formerly human engrams live. We know AI Alt and other AI capable of working with humanity have a proactive stance in dealing with possible threats to their wellbeing so likely any attempt to destroy their homes would be quietly snuffed out in the planning stages.
i have not seen anyone misunderstanding the Sandevistan or Kerenzikov. i almost find it hard to believe anyone would cuz its pretty straight forward. but never underestimate people's inability to understand, i guess.
I've watched almost all of your cyberpunk videos and I gotta tell you how much I love your content. They're well made, I like the depth you go into, and also the depth of the topics. Cyberpunk being a lowkey lovecraftian horror game is a good example lol it really can be sometimes. The cults and beliefs one was amazing too. More stuff like that would be great! Thanks for making such awesome videos 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
As someone who only barely half-remembers the lore from the 1990s iterations of the franchise, in other words pretty much a newbie all over again, I had no trouble following along with your explanation of these dizzying and far-flung relationships between the big important anchor characters. I think you put just the right amount of detail in the video script to keep the viewer from needing a Sandy of their own to keep up with the points you wanted to make. That bit about Yorinobu has my head kinda ringing like a bell right now. Kinda makes you wonder just what exactly V witnessed in his penthouse suite that night in Konpeki Plaza. I find it difficult to believe that Saburo was caught by surprise that night. If the theory that Adam Smasher actually knew that V and Jackie were in the room, and that V's cyberware's interaction with his optics revealing that fact was intended by the developers and not a bug, then the whole scenario has me thinking about this one guy you run into early in the game who likes to fight so much, there's two of him.
Small misconception in your misconception video. One of the biggest influences on Cyberpunk in the beginning wasn’t Gibson but Jon Walter Williams via his novel Hardwired. Fun video, choomba!
@@LayedBackGamersI’m aware. I wrote the “read for more inspiration” list in the RED core rulebook. Trust me, original 2013 takes after Hardwired. That’s why there is a sourcebook.
@@jgray7440 My bad if it sounded like I was trying to say it didn't choom! I'm at a family's Christmas party so I'm just trying to quickly respond to comments! I know who you are so I respect what you have to say and appreciate the comment (Assuming this is the actual J Gray!). I definitely should've included it in the video
@ Real me! I promise. :) When the holiday break is over, feel free to reach out and we can chat if you like. The only reason I bring it up here is I like making sure credit is assigned where it is due. Hardwired is a classic more people should read. Happy Christmas, choomba!
@@jgray7440 I absolutely will, I've had a few chats with Rob and it has always been a pleasure. It's great being able to communicate with the folks that make my favorite universe possible and active. What platform would you like me to shoot a message on? As for Hardwired I've been meaning to read it after going through the sourcebook. It definitely deserves the credit as if I recall correctly, Pondsmith and the author communicated a lot (and were friends?). It's interesting to think about the conversations they must've had.
Merry Christmas man! This is definitely the height part of my day. Thanks choom, this is the only gift I got this year, good on you buddy! Thanks. I mean all of that. Thanks man.
people who thought David messed with time, have never watched or read the Flash. or Supes, for that matter. we have had people moving faster than sight since forever. no time-manipulation required.
Personally, I'm an even bigger fan of the simulation theory now, it fits with the parallel timeline narrative. An entire environment created to recreate 'something'. Perhaps something really minor, such as some old tech otherwise lost to time. Kind of like the AI that read the Ancient Scroll Charred by Mount Vesuvius. Good video!
2:14 HAH!! I've said this before on another video about Johnny being a bad source of information. But I think gamers are so used to having their hands held with accurate game narration that they simply were not willing to accept that Johnny was a clinical narcissist, and willing to tell a story from his self centered point of view. If you look at it from that perspective, you can see how everything is about Johnny. Everything is either for or against Johnny, and no one else can have word in edgewise. Even his fight with Alt was about Johnny, and she tried to get through to him and he wouldn't let it in. During Phantom Liberty, when he launches into another tirade about 'principles,' he's literally being hypocritical because it was his principles that launched him into the attack on Arasaka tower. Totally worth the like and sub. Thanks, choom, for making this all clear for the rest.
you missed the biggest misconception; that Silverhand pulling Alt's plug moments after finding her body make sense. it don't. at all. in any universe, short of finding one where he is a lame-brained lunatic completely unaware of what this net-thing is.
Is it really a common misconception that people think the Sandevistan is freakin' stopping time!?! Everyone knows The Flash isn't stopping time when the world seems to be moving slowly around him so why do you believe everyone thinks this about the Sandevistan. Even normies know how super speed works dude.
Worth mentioning is that CDPR had lots of devs speak out about the messy development process which led to such a disastrous launch. What was revealed is that CP2077 was originally an open world CRPG with the kind of freedom seen in a typical table-top RPG campaign. But executives wanted a high profile name to market the game on and so Keanu Reeves was cast as Johnny Silverhands who was not originally parf of CP2077 nor the focal point of a linear narrative game. This led to a massive inconsistency between what the game was originally pitched as compared to what was released and it is very likely that the narketting teams and devs had to run damage control over how they now needed to shoehorn Silverhands' story into the existing concept.
Whats sad is that you can still kinda see the corpse of the game that should have been by wandering around the city. There's a ton of unused areas that seem to Scream "interact with me" but are really Just left to rot. I would ditch the story and the spectacle in a heartbeat if It meant having V being able to Just speak and interact in a meaningful way with the city and it's dwellers
Great video LBG. I can't wait for the cyberpsychosis video as I think people have misinterpreted some things about it and I'd like to learn some more interesting detes on it if there's parts that I missed. I always thought Adam was a cyberpyscho just like Maxtac has cyberpsychos in its ranks and while I don't know too much on high functioning cyberpsychos I think it makes sense because David did experience resistance to it when he had a mission to save Lucy from Arasaka and to escape and protect her, Rebecca, and Falco before his untimely end.
New Dawn Fades. It's from the Temperance ending so some times it is just called Temperance. It is also very similar to the memorial version of Never Fade Away that plays at Johnny's grave.
I love the content creators that continuously bring up the bad launch and early bugs in their videos like they're disgusted CDPR fixed their effing game. It's like they know their contend ship sank and now they're desperate to keep the few remaining gonk toxics salivating so they get clicks and engagement. What's worse is all the gonks who pretty much skip the details of the game, and come up with their own explanations like a tourist. You are the breath of fresh air we need. Also big ups to my 2020 solos, 2040 chooms, and 2077 mercs. (And the Cybergeneration in the alternate timeline...)
i wish someone would bring up the fact that in the trailer t-bug double crossed us, but in game she died. alternate reality? i just never see anyone expand on this point
I know Yorinobu isn't a clone . But, what if he was ? The whole point of the relic 2.0 is resurrection. Specifically to resurrect Saburo; in Yorinobu's body. Could this happen, if Yori was a clone ?
I don't know. I don't think every instance of mental disorder in Cyberpunk is evidence of cyberpsychosis. I think Johnny just has plain old PTSD and disassociative disorders heavily augmented by the circumstances of his cybernetic implant. And that Adam Smasher is a sociopath which explains why he went full metal. But the cyberpsychosis missions generally have a person who has a sudden and often faulty low grade interaction with chrome implants. Whether its Maelstrom, or an employer forcing it, or some gang affiliated activity, most cyber psychosis events are triggered by poorly implemented chrome upgrades. And in the lore of the table top game (if I understand it right) it was a bit of a safe guard against players getting too much of it. And that makes me think cyberpsychosis is characterized by the minds inability to integrate with the hardware properly. I think it can absolutely be made worse by other mental disorders but the major difference is in chrome integration. Just my thoughts on that matter.
How does alt's consciousness get stuck on the net? Even when they are diving the net their consciousness is being calculated/process/runs on their brain right? Being suddenly disconnected should just be disorienting.
16:35 if there's something I've learned about TTRPGs like Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, Vampire the Masquerade and DarkSun, is that statements like that are usually done to mislead players and GMs alike for future sourcebooks and expansions, just to give you anothet twist and plot hook for adventures If that was indeed Yorinobu's body double, why did his engram file display Yori's face and not the double's real face ? After all, an engram is a copy of someone's mind and personality, not their phyisical apperance
Do people genuinely believe that a Sandevistan let's you slow down time? I genuinely want to know this is the first time I've heard that people believe that
If only they gave pre gen just one more update, it feels a bit insulting to let us get the iguana egg but refusing to let us hatch it, also wanted the cool glowing katana but that's a liberty item sadly The 1.61 weapons are neat but ultimately don't end up in an inventory once you get your preferred unique gear
you should look at cybercpsychosis the same way you look at real psychosis or a mental disability like autism. some people have it, but do not express it. smasher is a murder hungry psychopath, with his chrome enabling him further. the reason he isnt like the other psychos we see, is because he wants to kill people, even if he wasnt borged out of his mind. a lot of pyschos you defeat in game usually have some tragic story, high stress enviroment or have been subjected to some horrible act. the high intesity of emotions kicks in with the cyberware intergration in their brains, and boom they flip out and lose control. you see this in the anime with both david and maine. As for johnny? its quite obvious in the game that he has some screws loose, even from what kerry says in the flashbacks, and how rogue refers to him as well.
Cyberpsychosis is not well defined. If we use "psychosis" condition as baseline, cyberpsychosis doesn't always makes sense. Some "cyberpsychotic" in "cyberpsycho sightings" have symptoms akin to psychosis but some don't... instead they have symptoms of PTSD, APD or some others that i noticed when playing but that was 6 months ago.
I always though the Sandevistan was faster than though neural enhancement, like information travel super slow in the neuron, something like 100m/s so if you could detected a neuro firing you could transport the information directly to it's destination through electronic at or close to the speed of light, same for muscle activation, like reflex that bypass the brain because the brain is too slow to avoid dommage (put your hand on fire and you will remove your hands before thinking about it) but instead of that a fully artificial enhanced neuron network that is fast enough to be faster than reflex. Idk if I explain it well but tldr your brain is slow and you could use electronic as a highway for information to arrive at their destination orders of magnitude faster
So if Alt 2.0 is not ALT both physically & personality wise. How in the actual hell is her new A.I program fading in and out of the old net without old net A.I using the same techniques to cause havoc on the new net??
@@hotshotcharlie She's not fading in and out of the old net. The original construct is stuck within, the other was able to exit into a body. The other A.I don't have bodies to hop into, but they have jumped into robots. It was shown in Cynosure and is referenced as happening in the abandoned Hong Kong.
Im gonna come back to this comment if i have to make changes to it bc im commenting before watching. If you played the game and/or watched the tv show, saw sandevistan in action and thought it was time manipulation in spite of all the surrounding context to how cyberpunk implants work (generally speaking of course not at an engineering/technician level) then im gonna be a bit harsh and say you arent equipt to consume that media. Thats like implying Jet from Fallout is time manipulation. Brother its manipulating the brain and body, not the ENTIRE UNIVERSE AROUND IT
I would count one misconception as being... Arasaka isn't the Only big Mega Corporation that's dangerous and does shady things. Kyroshi, Bio-Technica, Kang -Tao, Petro-Chen, Night Watch... All of them are just as Big and just as Dangerous as Arasaka and Mili-Tech. There just not as Loud and Up Front with their Shady dealings.
I thought the game was fun and good when it first released, and I played it on the xbox one so it was even worse. Had tons of bugs but they felt more like Bethesda type bugs like Skyrim or fallout. I did get soft locked in the animals boss fight which was very very upsetting. I still bought the game on pc and play it again though. Its a good game, nowhere near as buggy as it used to be and has a tone more too it now.
Unfortunately a lot of people probably haven't even heard the term speedware unless they played the tabletops. Another contributing factor to the confusion!
The video is about misconceptions and the thumbnail has a question mark. Then the video itself explains why he IS a cyberpsycho and even quotes the exact thing you're talking about. Just watch the video choom?
This video is great. A lot of these misconceptions had to be addressed. I actually kinda liked Edge Runners, even though I'm not an amine fan. But that stupid gravity weapon was dumb, and not supported in any Canon source. I'm really hoping it gets retconned or something. It was the worst thing about the show.
@@NoLifeKing_0 - Cyberpunk's appeal is that it's realistic. It's based on real world technology. The gravity weapon is full on fantasy. It's the equivalent of magic. There is zero in the existing lore supporting it. It was created only for the the show. A lot of younger people into cyberpunk do not understand how the tech works.
@NoLifeKing_0 - People completely misunderstand how sandestivans work. Time does not actually slow down. Your reflexes and thought process just speed up, giving you the illusion of time slowing down.
The slow visual is just for ease of use for the player to easily follow what's happening.
it should have been clear considering theres a scene that shows how it looks from the outside and also just how it looks in game when an enemy uses it
I feel like this has always been obvious.
Thinking Sandevistan is time manipulation is crazy 😂
Not fr, isn’t a reach to logically come to that conclusion if you aren’t familiar with the lore and only see it in action
The fact that Jonny was who accidentally trapped alt in the net makes sense, I never understood what would arasaka gain from that
Maybe the fact that they know people can be trapped in the net thus a somewhat form of immortality in a way.
It’s really weird because his defining physical trait is his black cyberarm.
I think Morgans message of "meat is better" stems from him losing his arm (idk but likely in the war just like Johnny)
And also, like Johnny, he would have rather had his original arm back.

@D3M3NT3Dstrang3r it's a known phenomenon but I don't think science knows why it's happening. I know I experienced it though.

From what I understand about Adam Smasher, he was a certified psychopath years before he had even one inch of chrome installed.
My interpretation of the Sandy implant is that it increases the Awareness of the User and Activates their Reaction time to "Hyper Speed"
My favorite part about the world today is the creator of stuff is on the internet answering questions and stuff. It’s like making tolkiens letters

"cyberpsychosis" is a "clinical trial" or field test of Blackwall AI tech being conducted by NightCorp.
I love how the sandevistan works
Great video dude, thanks for the Christmas present!
3:18 I just like the point out.I love the Witcher games, but I gotta ask Geralt What are you doing here?
need the name of the song playing at 6:19 i know that is never fade away but didnt find this version
New Dawn Fades. It's from the Temperance ending so some times it is just called Temperance. It is also very similar to the memorial version of Never Fade Away that plays at Johnny's grave.
@@JimsDiscountHam thx man ❤
I'm watching the video as I ask this should I re-download this on ps4??
I love the content creators that continuously bring up the bad launch and early bugs in their videos like they're disgusted CDPR fixed their effing game. It's like they know their contend ship sank and now they're desperate to keep the few remaining gonk toxics salivating so they get clicks and engagement.
What's worse is all the gonks who pretty much skip the details of the game, and come up with their own explanations like a tourist.
You are the breath of fresh air we need.
Also big ups to my 2020 solos, 2040 chooms, and 2077 mercs. (And the Cybergeneration in the alternate timeline...)
The reason people think Sandevistan is time manipulation is because It is Impossible If It isnt.
If you think It is note, you dont know physics
i wish someone would bring up the fact that in the trailer t-bug double crossed us, but in game she died. alternate reality? i just never see anyone expand on this point
Trailers always lie
I know Yorinobu isn't a clone . But, what if he was ? The whole point of the relic 2.0 is resurrection. Specifically to resurrect Saburo; in Yorinobu's body. Could this happen, if Yori was a clone ?
Maxtac is run exclusively by dyberpsycho's cough Melisa Rory in trailers was just on her lunch break
Being suddenly disconnected should just be disorienting.
hope you had an awesome Christmas chooms! 🎄
Just like the Flash, he is moving so fast everything else looks slow as hell
I think the biggest misconception is the game being delivered finished
16:35 if there's something I've learned about TTRPGs like Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, Vampire the Masquerade and DarkSun, is that statements like that are usually done to mislead players and GMs alike for future sourcebooks and expansions, just to give you anothet twist and plot hook for adventures
If that was indeed Yorinobu's body double, why did his engram file display Yori's face and not the double's real face ? After all, an engram is a copy of someone's mind and personality, not their phyisical apperance
Do people genuinely believe that a Sandevistan let's you slow down time? I genuinely want to know this is the first time I've heard that people believe that
If only they gave pre gen just one more update, it feels a bit insulting to let us get the iguana egg but refusing to let us hatch it, also wanted the cool glowing katana but that's a liberty item sadly
The 1.61 weapons are neat but ultimately don't end up in an inventory once you get your preferred unique gear
i cant wait for the new game, i know itll be a while but still cant wait
Merry Christmas chooms
Merry Christmas Choom, thanks for watching and for your kindness. We all appreciate you and hope you have an amazing holiday!
Hell yeah was searching for some new cyberpunk videos
Who thought sandevistans controlled time?😂
Unfortunately a lot of people
Sandevistan isnt time manipulation, but time relativity
Who thought the sandy was a time machine?
the sandevistan one is kind of obvious. flash`s and quicksilver`s lore logics are pretty old.
All this stuff is why I resolutely ignore all the arguments and disputes about 'canon'. I only care about the video game.
you should look at cybercpsychosis the same way you look at real psychosis or a mental disability like autism. some people have it, but do not express it. smasher is a murder hungry psychopath, with his chrome enabling him further. the reason he isnt like the other psychos we see, is because he wants to kill people, even if he wasnt borged out of his mind. a lot of pyschos you defeat in game usually have some tragic story, high stress enviroment or have been subjected to some horrible act. the high intesity of emotions kicks in with the cyberware intergration in their brains, and boom they flip out and lose control. you see this in the anime with both david and maine.
It's heavily implied that the Corpos use cyberpsychosis to cover up people that they push to the edge with their experiments
Lol who tf thought it was TIME CONTROL. The description literally tells you what it does...
People how think Sandevistan is time manipulation are...
Great vid
Im gonna come back to this comment if i have to make changes to it bc im commenting before watching.
If you played the game and/or watched the tv show, saw sandevistan in action and thought it was time manipulation in spite of all the surrounding context to how cyberpunk implants work (generally speaking of course not at an engineering/technician level) then im gonna be a bit harsh and say you arent equipt to consume that media. Thats like implying Jet from Fallout is time manipulation. Brother its manipulating the brain and body, not the ENTIRE UNIVERSE AROUND IT
Idk if it changes anything but he was psycho before he got cybered.
Is there no Trauma Team immunity in 2.2? Anybody infos please? 🕶
Its Body manipulation....Physical.
First reply decides if I start a fresh save and play this game again, and finally finish it, I think I’ve only played half the game back near launch
You gotta do it choom
@ Deal, starting it today
So is V also a cyberpsycho?
Only with proper perk from tech ability tree.
Kinda
I thought the sandevistan thing was just obvious to anyone who played the game and has a very rudimentary understanding of biology…
Its a good game, nowhere near as buggy as it used to be and has a tone more too it now.
sandevistan is speedware...explains enough imo. it speeds the user up
Unfortunately a lot of people probably haven't even heard the term speedware unless they played the tabletops. Another contributing factor to the confusion!
@@LayedBackGamers ah i see, i havent played the game, just the ttrpg
I disagree about David, not enough shown lol
Snake eater... Nice
I NEED MORE CYBERPUNK ANIME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!😡
very cool vid
...the writers literally call him a high-functioning cyberpsycho, the thumbnail is just a lie
The video is about misconceptions and the thumbnail has a question mark. Then the video itself explains why he IS a cyberpsycho and even quotes the exact thing you're talking about. Just watch the video choom?
Incredible
This video is great. A lot of these misconceptions had to be addressed.
I actually kinda liked Edge Runners, even though I'm not an amine fan. But that stupid gravity weapon was dumb, and not supported in any Canon source. I'm really hoping it gets retconned or something. It was the worst thing about the show.
Why? What’s wrong with it?
bruh there is nothing wrong with it
@@NoLifeKing_0 - Cyberpunk's appeal is that it's realistic. It's based on real world technology. The gravity weapon is full on fantasy. It's the equivalent of magic.
There is zero in the existing lore supporting it. It was created only for the the show. A lot of younger people into cyberpunk do not understand how the tech works.
@ Idk, if we’re willing to accept the apogee sandevistan, I’m willing to accept some anti-grav technology.
@NoLifeKing_0 - People completely misunderstand how sandestivans work. Time does not actually slow down. Your reflexes and thought process just speed up, giving you the illusion of time slowing down.
Its ke ren zi kov
Not ke rez ni kov :)
