Silverhand was a terrorist, whether he wanted to be or not. And it’s not because he bombed a tower or whatever. It’s because he straddled the line between freedom fighter and a psychotic murderer - by blending those two parts of himself, he saw vindication for his actions, while others (besides the fans of his music) just saw a terrorist. That being said, if someone did to my wife, Panam Palmer, what was done to Alt, yyyeah I’d want to destroy them too and by any means possible, collateral damage be damned.

Is it possible that part of Johnny's inaccurate memories are due to the relic losing integrity during the heist. Before Jackie slots the relic he states that it's integrity was at 86% and dropping. Something I think about with each playthrough but I never see it mentioned.
Another thing to add is how songbird mentions there is corrupted data in the relic. It is also a theory of mine that the clearing of that data gave v a few extra days if not a bit longer
@tylerrussell9926 That's a good thought. The corruption could also just be from the data being altered and copied, and altered again and again while under the "care" of Arasaka. Or it could be the result of Yorinobu hastily putting the engram on the Relic while trying to keep it secret.
One very strange thing about the relic is that it appears to be extremely volatile in the Cyberpunk 2077 V and Jackie relic heist. But that same relic existed in the radioactive ridden ruins of the destroyed Arasaka tower inside Johnny's remains for some time before Samantha arrives to collect Johnny and his belongings. So not only did it survive a nuclear warhead detonation but also the extreme conditions that came after but for some reason has to be kept in a high controlled environment to survive the 2077 events.
@@TheControlsterThing is the relic we see in 2077 is an experimental prototype meant to stay ‘in house’ for Saburo’s use, so it didn’t exist when the first Arasaka tower fell. The relic we see is meant to inject the data on it into a dead corpse so whatever engram is on it can take it over, the shard spider used was completely different as it only soulkilled Johnny and kept his engramatic data. So, basically, two entirely different shards.

I love your theory at the end. Brought a tear to my eye, thinking that, at least in one iteration, maybe Johnny and Angel actually could have had a happy ending
Johnny thinks he's the main character of Night City and he really wants you to think it, too. I feel like 2077 lays out pretty clearly that Alt is the main character of the main plotline of Cyberpunk and Johnny is a clingy ex who doesn't know when to let go. Never Fade Away 2013, Firestorm and 2077 are all a straight line from Alt inventing Soulkiller to Alt destroying Mikoshi.
Can’t wait for the new Cyber game with all the new game technology out now. Been playing The Finals a lot lately. If we could get the destruction and graphics of the finals in a new Cyberpunk game…. I’d just die.
I personally view Johnny as the seed and the central pillar from which all other elements of the setting are built upon. The 2020 RPG (Knowingly or not) is Johnny Silverhand's decade long revenge scheme against Arasaka for killing his input.
Bug? You are not playing as Silverhand until the end of the game, remember this is V reliving Johnny's memories. Is it also a bug that depending on how V talks to Alt it affects conversations between Johnny and Alt?
This was actually an interesting fact to know that the malorian is actually a cyberlink weapon made specifically for johnnies cyberarm, I did not know about it. I wish we could apply it somehow in the game, although pre 2.0 malorian was also very op, being able to also penetrate and richoshate
Loved this video. Fantastic. Resolves most plotoles and offers to look at inconsistencies. I watched the whole thing. I gotta say, I'm sorry for leaving so many comments. I'm usually am in the comments complaining about the 2020-2077 inconsistencies waaaay too often. Gotta ask, would you be willing to possibly look into and maybe do a very short video on Silverhand's music and album career? For example, Silverhand's debut solo album A Cool Metal Fire has been essentially wiped off the wiki after 2077's release, and a bunch of songs from that album have kind of made their way onto other albums. You can only really find the track listing in one of the old sourcebooks now. A cool Metal Fire marked the debut of "Chippin In," and "Never Fade Away", which now isn't possible since "Chippin In" is now a Samurai album, and Never Fade Away is now Silverhand's possibly debut album that was released in 2009, and includes the track "Never Fade Away". I bring this up because a lot of this super niche album info is completely unknown, and inconsistencies only become known if you have a sourcebook and you compare it to the game. It also makes you wonder if the duplicate songs are retconned, re-releases, re-recorded, or reintrepretations. So there would be 3 Chippin In's, one Samurai, one solo, and one by Kerry, and 2 Never Fade Away's. One released in 2009, and one released in 2013. Makes you wonder which one was about Alt, and which one was the "Sixteen and sixteen hundred" version.
I always felt like the differences in Johnny's memories were just hallucinations. With an Engram trapped in a reality of its own making, it's divorced from actual reality. One's own internal model is kept in check by constant updates from experience through sensory devices, and memory is much in the same way. How many times have you remembered something, only to be reminded by someone else who was also there that things did not exactly happen that way? Memory is a very strange and very malleable thing. And with Johnny's obvious personality flaws and mental issues, it's no surprise that his hallucinations turned out to be what they are.
I hope they come out with a visual of all the events within Johnny’s life until his final death. As well as the years after his death when he was actually turned into an engram (and all the other versions of his engrams) with an end that eludes to the beginning of 2077’s story.
Hell yeah choom love the video! Great actual back story of the Rockerboy Silverhand and holy shit didn't realize how many new chooms subscribed to your channel! Cool shit keep it up! 🤘
You'll definitely be seeing it once the Edgerunnsrs mission kit for Cyberpunk Red releases! That will have a lot of new info on the entire Maine crew so there's a chance to do a video on the entire crew in one!
It took a long time to understand Johnny, but now I know why he calls Kerry a P-word. He was a high functioning cyberpsycho but good intentions, poor execution
I love how printing money to subsidize something is what caused the biggest collapse in the cyberpunk universe and its literally what the us gov did in the 2020
It’s insane how many Americans don’t know that between 20 and 80% (depending on which source you check. Claims are all over the place) of all US dollars in circulation were printed since 2020. It’s constantly pushed in the background that you could easily live on $15/hr 5 years ago in most cities and now you can barely make it above poverty on $20/hr
Next video idea maybe you should talk about how night city was built over another city called morro bay and how they demolished state parks for mega high rises and parking lots😂😂
I love listening to your lore videos, always relaxing. But c'mon choom, you know as well as I that Night City is the main character, she's in every story and she always wins.
Grayson recounts what smasher told him when you reach him on the Ebunike. They bring Johnnys body to Saburo to interrogate, scorch him with Soulkiller and take his body out to the oil fields to bury. I'd think that this would be closest to what actually happened to Johnny?
No, cause Jackie was bleeding out, which is something the chip wouldn't be able to fix. The chip kept V alive cause it basically rewired his brain and repaired the neurons after he got shot in the head.
@@antthomas7916 The Chip would have Fixed it... Cause of V gets shot in the head... that does mean we bleed or Dex kinda angled that shot so badly we didnt actually die from it in reality. Remember what Vektor Vic says? low kaliber. Now that is interesting infomation we get. So it is either Vs skull kinda bounced the shot. That can happend with a 45caliber round. If you angle the shot the skull can bounce it. Or V did get shot in the head and missing brain pierces... but that does not really make sense... cause we are kinda running and what not around... I do not belive the chip can do that. So my therory on this. The chip did not fix us. Dex angled the shot so badly and we survived. Because logically speaking here. The Chip takes over slowly. But it also damages our brain... So that does mean our brain from dexes shot did not get damaged. Just a light headache. Also it does not make sense that this chip can revive you from death and repair our brain with nanites. So we still have full body function we can talk and fight and what not.. I do not think that is possible to repair tbh. Since the brain is far to complex. What does make sense however is that the chip only stores a person and that person is now trying to take over. That I can kinda see happending but lets be real its a bit of a far stretch. So logically speaking i do not think the chip did anything but upload so to say Jhonnys personality. Also Anders Helmann never ever mentions that we got shot in the head or had brain damage from the bullet wound. Wich is quite interesting so to say.
I have always worked under the assumption that Soulkiller is a progression of the tech that allows BD recordings and given the prominence that BD editing is given in 2077, it's reasonable to assume that what you see is a warped version of Johnny even without rad damage.
31:45 it's an oversight by the devs it basically saying you fell out last time I have you this time it made no since to incorporate that scene in the game if it wasn't alluding to him falling out of the heli the first time. you're stretching that waaaay too far man they should have had a scene where smasher is basically giving V/Johhny a hard time and there is a point where he may get killed by smasher again and in comes rogue to save Johnny from smasher and that quote "not this time" would have fit better.
my headcanon to the distorted memories is A: the chip was dying and we put it in to save it and B: he has spent a half century a hard drive, I can’t remember my lunch from last Tuesday, think I’ll know in a few decades?
Man I wish CD Projekt Red would commission all six Samurai albums from the band that did the Samurai songs in the base game. How fucking cool would it be to actually have their entire discography exist in real life?
johnny is only a legend in his re-telling of the story. there is nothing in night city that shows that johnny was/is a legend. only one shop of samurai merch
I'd argue that Songbird being a fan of his despite being from Brooklyn must mean his reach is still pretty vast. Especially since they pin the entirety of the nukes doing onto Silverhand. The primary reason his music and story isn't as popular anymore is the datakrash and Time of Red. Lots of information lost during that time. Though you'd be correct in saying it wasn't his combat that made him a Legend, it was his message and charisma. A vast difference from Solos like Rogue and Blackhand who were more popular amongst mercs and fixers.
I still wonder if Keanu didn’t play JS and CDPR went with their original plans would JS even still be as popular or did Keanu enhance the character to a new level?
How can Black Dog be an "unreleased" Samurai song when it is the very first song that starts playing on the Samurai vinyl in V's apartments in the game?
@@ElJulioso Because Trace Santiagos Edgerunner group didn't gatekeep the edition Angel gave them choom! So it ended up unofficially released some point after 2045.
So beat the game for now like the 60th time lol but Alts poem at the end and for those who are wondering here's the rest of it No! I am not Prince Hamlet, nor was meant to be; Am an attendant lord, one that will do To swell a progress, start a scene or two, Advise the prince; no doubt, an easy tool, Deferential, glad to be of use, Politic, cautious, and meticulous; Full of high sentence, but a bit obtuse; At times, indeed, almost ridiculous- Almost, at times, the Fool. Meaning you're not the ultimate warrior but you don't need to be you've learned to adapt us your skills and some yes you make mistakes and still the fool. You're slowing the progress of a corrupt political machine one that was thought to be invulnerable you being the fool yet seeing the corruptness of the corporations knowing all odds are against you still try to put a stop to this being a fool still thinking it'll save your life ....there's more to this but gotta start with the basics first and see how many people actually paid attention to corrupt Cunninghams poem ....
The entire poem is entirely too long for here but definitely worth looking at it's the constant struggle of what you believe what is right and wrong and the balance of the greater good....
Still think that V is a bio construkt housing a AI based on morgan blackhand. he or she lives as a sleeper agent. Spider murphy gets hold of information of this V while laying low, Sends jackie in to reprogram the AI, by making a dilema where the AI have to chose logic or feelings. And as V chosen feelings, by becoming friends with Jackie, the next mission is set, where to bring back silverhand and alt. to find bartmoss. I mean most characters have a unique voice in this game, except two. Spider murphy and misty, why aren't their voices unique? because it's the same. Misty is also subtly conditioning us through out the game, with what path to walk. She acts like a storefront, though she is in the middle of everything. might be some flaw to this, i haven't found it though.
good video, but when Shaitan video? there is no way that the wiki encompasses ALL the lore on him. especially since he plays a fairly important role in the AHQ bombing.
With this aspect we can assume this V engram is a copy of the real johnny Ingram. That explains why alt so cold to johnny cuz he not the real silverhand.
Wow!! You are very good at lore. But this exceeds them all. I have a much better picture of Johnny and how he is portrayed in CP2077 as well as the source material and its author Maximum Mike Pondsmith. I still view Johnny more as a tragic character than a heroic one. But I can sympathize with him more and very glad he has such a large part in the game.
I believe they get hnds on his engram. But not original. This is copy of a copy. And they torture and mold his memories as test to true purpose of relic.
He didn’t cheat death. Johnny silver hand is dead. The engram of his consciousness is now a new being. It’s like in soma except there’s no coin toss. There’s no “happy ending.” When you get copied your copy is now a new entity as getting copied isn’t the same as being “cut” you would say. The original conscious is still present or WAS. Now his new conscious is only what Arasaka viewed as. This is why Johnny is such a prick by nature, in reality he was probably more soft.

I knew it! The Malorian was supposed to be in the left silver hand! Such a huge bug in the game.
Bug? You are not playing as Silverhand until the end of the game, remember this is V reliving Johnny's memories. Is it also a bug that depending on how V talks to Alt it affects conversations between Johnny and Alt?
@@pinnacleevolution1634 What ? We play johnny rught after v "dies", wdym until the end of the game ? lmfao
The Metal Gear 4 theme when you’re talking about soldiers and shit was a nice touch.
Who are the Patriots?
@@WhatIsThatThingDoing Huh? Wym “La Le Lu Le Lo?”
Se we are currently living through silver hands childhood given what's happening to America rn
Johnny died last year if we go by what happens in the lore & game
The bombing of Arasaka HQ & Johnny's death at the hands of Smasher happened in 2023
I love the addition of a piano version of halo reach’s music, really fits tbh
I always felt like the differences in Johnny's memories were just hallucinations. With an Engram trapped in a reality of its own making, it's divorced from actual reality. One's own internal model is kept in check by constant updates from experience through sensory devices, and memory is much in the same way. How many times have you remembered something, only to be reminded by someone else who was also there that things did not exactly happen that way? Memory is a very strange and very malleable thing. And with Johnny's obvious personality flaws and mental issues, it's no surprise that his hallucinations turned out to be what they are.
Johnny's life is definitely complicated with the relic but glad you could piece it all together 😅
I hope they come out with a visual of all the events within Johnny’s life until his final death. As well as the years after his death when he was actually turned into an engram (and all the other versions of his engrams) with an end that eludes to the beginning of 2077’s story.
I wouldn't call life as an AI Doom.
Layedback you need to do a live stream with the new updates shits pretty fuckin dope!! 🤘
Wow I think this is your best video yet! I love it!
Always a banger when the video drops
Hell yeah choom love the video! Great actual back story of the Rockerboy Silverhand and holy shit didn't realize how many new chooms subscribed to your channel! Cool shit keep it up! 🤘
banger vid as always choom cant wait for more
I’d love to see your take on David Martinez
You'll definitely be seeing it once the Edgerunnsrs mission kit for Cyberpunk Red releases! That will have a lot of new info on the entire Maine crew so there's a chance to do a video on the entire crew in one!
This is awesome and Johnny is my favorite character in cyber punk. I wasn’t good at the game, but he was my favorite character nonetheless
Saburos death was just a plot by johnny silverhand and alt cunningham. The timing is too impeccable
It took a long time to understand Johnny, but now I know why he calls Kerry a P-word. He was a high functioning cyberpsycho but good intentions, poor execution
I love how printing money to subsidize something is what caused the biggest collapse in the cyberpunk universe and its literally what the us gov did in the 2020
And 2008 and it'll happen again.
It’s insane how many Americans don’t know that between 20 and 80% (depending on which source you check. Claims are all over the place) of all US dollars in circulation were printed since 2020. It’s constantly pushed in the background that you could easily live on $15/hr 5 years ago in most cities and now you can barely make it above poverty on $20/hr
not only in 2020, but many times before too
Hell yeah new update gotta see the difference now!!! 🤘
Johnny silverhand is such a great character
Great video chum 🫡
Next video idea maybe you should talk about how night city was built over another city called morro bay and how they demolished state parks for mega high rises and parking lots😂😂
I love listening to your lore videos, always relaxing. But c'mon choom, you know as well as I that Night City is the main character, she's in every story and she always wins.
Grayson recounts what smasher told him when you reach him on the Ebunike. They bring Johnnys body to Saburo to interrogate, scorch him with Soulkiller and take his body out to the oil fields to bury. I'd think that this would be closest to what actually happened to Johnny?
The only way this could've happened was to a cloned Johnny post Time of Red since his body was retrieved by Samantha directly from the bunker in 2023.
they should make a series kind of like net runners except way longer explaining his origin and life
Chooms cdpr has their lead of development talking about how about how it's in the making!!! Roughly 12 hours ago hell yeah! 🎉❤ 🤘
The reason the nomads dont settle down is because if the do and bulid nomad city, the courps will move in because theres money to be made.
This is insane lore for the next Cyberpunk.
So technically if we didn't take the shard from jackie. Then jackie would be alive with johnny inside of him. And we could of prolonged jackies Death
Don't think so. Jackie was heavily shot up. Insides wouldn't work? V was shot in the head and there have been a few survivors of that act in real life
No, Dex would still kill V and Jackie in the no tell motel if that came to be.
"Bryan, College Station" is that were he was born ? Texas A&M town.
31:45 it's an oversight by the devs it basically saying you fell out last time I have you this time it made no since to incorporate that scene in the game if it wasn't alluding to him falling out of the heli the first time. you're stretching that waaaay too far man they should have had a scene where smasher is basically giving V/Johhny a hard time and there is a point where he may get killed by smasher again and in comes rogue to save Johnny from smasher and that quote "not this time" would have fit better.
my headcanon to the distorted memories is
A: the chip was dying and we put it in to save it
and B: he has spent a half century a hard drive, I can’t remember my lunch from last Tuesday, think I’ll know in a few decades?
Am I tripping balls or am I hearing the MGS theme during the Nicaragua invasion?
Man I wish CD Projekt Red would commission all six Samurai albums from the band that did the Samurai songs in the base game. How fucking cool would it be to actually have their entire discography exist in real life?
johnny silverhand is a good guy u can see it from having a high friendship with him.
I like that snake eater song at the end
Johnny getting sold by his dad for a pack of cigarettes.
"Good stuff"
I think he meant it as in “ one of the “good things” in his story as apposed to his life as a whole
@@iXmetalXi yeah ik, just found it funny
johnny is only a legend in his re-telling of the story. there is nothing in night city that shows that johnny was/is a legend. only one shop of samurai merch
Just to add, the Afterlife has a drink called the "Johnny Silverhand" as well.
It's what Claire serves Jackie and V at the beginning of the game.
@@clevergray8754 Your profile picture is giving me bad memories
I hear that metal gear solid background theme Sir.
Choom! Fucking amazing video!! Please please please keep it up
Great Video
If Johnnys gun is left handed why isn’t he usin it in his left hand
So johnny was a beserker?
Great content
I still wonder if Keanu didn’t play JS and CDPR went with their original plans would JS even still be as popular or did Keanu enhance the character to a new level?
How can Black Dog be an "unreleased" Samurai song when it is the very first song that starts playing on the Samurai vinyl in V's apartments in the game?
@@ElJulioso Because Trace Santiagos Edgerunner group didn't gatekeep the edition Angel gave them choom! So it ended up unofficially released some point after 2045.
So beat the game for now like the 60th time lol but Alts poem at the end and for those who are wondering here's the rest of it
No! I am not Prince Hamlet, nor was meant to be;
Am an attendant lord, one that will do
To swell a progress, start a scene or two,
Advise the prince; no doubt, an easy tool,
Deferential, glad to be of use,
Politic, cautious, and meticulous;
Full of high sentence, but a bit obtuse;
At times, indeed, almost ridiculous-
Almost, at times, the Fool.
Temperance is the best ending
There are no heroes in Night City. Wrong city. Wrong people.
I always thought Kerry was the singer of samurai
They both did vocals for the band at separate points! I bet they each had their songs they felt more closely to and therefore sung.
good video, but when Shaitan video? there is no way that the wiki encompasses ALL the lore on him. especially since he plays a fairly important role in the AHQ bombing.
Great video. Best video game companion ever.
With this aspect we can assume this V engram is a copy of the real johnny Ingram. That explains why alt so cold to johnny cuz he not the real silverhand.
If Johnny Silverhand was a hero, he'd be the embodyment of an anti-hero
What a dude
do you think that his the protagonist in orion then depending on the choice we made in 2077 there would be 2 two silverhands.
Wow!! You are very good at lore. But this exceeds them all. I have a much better picture of Johnny and how he is portrayed in CP2077 as well as the source material and its author Maximum Mike Pondsmith.
I still view Johnny more as a tragic character than a heroic one. But I can sympathize with him more and very glad he has such a large part in the game.
this easily coulda been a 15 minute video
Kinda wish you would have warned us about the endings being given away in this. I was listening to stuff for johnny and then boom spoiler
Game's four years old, man. Any cyberpunk media could have spoilers. I hope you learn to view with discretion next time.
His Dad sold him for cigarettes?
I believe they get hnds on his engram. But not original. This is copy of a copy. And they torture and mold his memories as test to true purpose of relic.
Ummm... colombia equador and those countries you mentioned ARE NOT CENTRAL AMERICA... wtf... that's south america.
Vs new theme......O Fortuna......😂(if you know you know)
Real
He didn’t cheat death. Johnny silver hand is dead.
The engram of his consciousness is now a new being.
It’s like in soma except there’s no coin toss. There’s no “happy ending.”
When you get copied your copy is now a new entity as getting copied isn’t the same as being “cut” you would say.
The original conscious is still present or WAS. Now his new conscious is only what Arasaka viewed as. This is why Johnny is such a prick by nature, in reality he was probably more soft.
barely made it on time !
Any time is the right time!
