Bought this Suhr and the two note captor x, went with Suhr, easy decision. Sounded amazing and near 100% realistic both sound and feel out of the box…didn’t want to mess around and tweak stuff with software on the captor X…it didn’t sound too convincing with the pre-loaded irs, but I’m sure you can load your own irs and tweak it further to sound great…I didn’t care to do that myself.
Thanks again for the work you do with your demonstrations and techniques. I just spent alot of dough on the Ox and wish I'd have spent more time researching now as I see I could have spent less money and found a simpler way to achieve the sound and convenience I need so I can get to playing and recording. I'm finding the Ox is an amazing piece of gear but I just wanted to express your talent and efforts are appreciated. Dean Richards
The Suhr is a very nice device with a few great features I really appreciate such as the IR file drag and drop (no propietary GUI , nice), its sleak/simple design, and its built like a tank. The down sides: there is no impedance match switch ( you have to buy more than one device if you want that kind of flexibility). The length (in milliseconds) of the IR 20.5ms, and max samplerate is only 48khz. Overall, it's a nice unit worth trying out. Cheers.
Yeah I like it a lot and to me Suhr is the most ”musical” of the several ones from different brands I’ve tried and it feels like playing with a real cab and the amps behave like that too. I like it ’cos it’s so simple; meat & potatoes so to say 😊. The less knobs the better if / when the sound is top notch and works like a charm 👌🔥
Check out my previous answer 😉. I don’t notice any latency in Suhr. It feels like playing with a real cab 👌. It’s been a while since I’ve used anything else so I don’t remember the latency matter with the others I’ve tried (Two Notes products mainly).
Hi Euge, i’m A french guy, i have cab 4x12 g12m15ohm , it’s usable with de suhr reactive load 8ohm in pass with de cab 16ohm? 🤔 i dont have a studio computer…thank you!!
Yeah it’s fine of the ohms from the amp / reactive load are smaller than what the cab can handle. The other way around and you’ll most likely blow up the speakers. And the amp. And the reactive load 😎.
Christian Utter Thanks! Yes they’re (ex-Suhr) part of Ownhammer’s Heavy Hitters Collection vol 1 that can be purchased from Ownhammer’s website 👍. So they’re not my own. Well actually they are since I bought them but anyways 😊 The Suhr IRs came with the device but maybe they’re available on Celestion’s / Suhr’s website.
Awesome vid as usual. U have some very nice content. Im a huge fan of Frusciante, Slash. I own a 87 silver jubilee combo (2554) but im thinking of selling it to buy a jcm 800. Tough situation
I also have the Suhr reactive Load IR, I don't understand how you get such a good sound with it. I have a Landry LS100G3 a three channel EL34 powered high gain amp with individual gain and volume controls for each channel, with a separate set of tone controls for the clean channel and a shared EQ section for channels 2 and 3. great amp great sound ( Plexi) but as soon as I use it as a home studio with the Suhr reactive IR, the sound is not full, no attack, etc, etc... the feeling is so much different than when you play with a 4x12 or 2x12 inch cab. do you record directly from the Suhr RLoad IR or do you record with a microphone in front of the cab? In terms of pedal I have pretty much the same Boss SD-1 Boss Delay, Valhbruch space Delay etc.. it can't be that. what monitors do you use? Maybe those are the problem? I use KRK Rokit RP 5 G4 monitors. tell me what am i doing wrong?
Very cool demo Euge! Have you by any chance compared the Suhr RL with the Fryette power station (just the loadbox feature)? Which one has more clarity, girth, and delivers the most authentic tone of the amp? Also any info on your most prefered loadbox is appreciated as well. Many thanks!
It's killer for studio work and it's on another level from Two Notes, no b s IR's and it really feels and sounds as guitar cabinet! Highly recommended.
Hi Euge! You really helped me deciding on which loadbox to get. Thanks for that. So pretty much any third party IR would work right? Wich format do they need to be?
Hey Euge, you have excellent reviews here! Subbed already!! I was looking for this kind of review on playing a tube amp with a reactive load IR. Do you think tube preamp + cab/poweramp IR vs tube preamp + tube poweramp + reactive load IR would be completely different in feel? Or unnecessary investment?
Hi Euge, I have a couple of questions - do you connect the Suhr directly to the sound card which is connected with monitor? Another question - how does it work with headphones? Is the volume enough to practice? What brand of headphones do you use?
Hi Gennadiy, I did a video about my set up: ua-cam.com/video/_2N-GEjzJVk/v-deo.html But the short answer is: Suhr is connected to my audio interface (nowadays Steinberg UR816C) and from there the signal goes via USB-C cable to my computer. And my monitors are connected to the interface naturally 😎. The volume is as loud or quiet as I want it to be obviously in the limitations of my studio monitors. I use some cheap AKG headphones. I think they’re K121 Studio.
@@EugeValovirta230V how do i listen to it? Do i need to go to a daw or a plug in without an amp or just use the "direct monitor" button on focus rite?

Standard gtr cable

Can I use this as a attenuator if my Marshall 4x12 has 16 ohm speakers?did you just plug into the 8ohm output on the amp when using line out and ir’s?
It’s (just) a reactive load. Not an attenuator. This one for example have both: ua-cam.com/video/7sFIkI7_DK4/v-deo.html
Yes.
hi Euge... as always another great video. I just wanted to confirm that this cannot also be used as attenuator? like captor x?
