    I bought one a week ago, I love using my amps again. Using the HX STOMP for FX. Love playing at home again.

      AWESOME! This is probably the best home rig if you really want to use a real amp. Your possibilities are endless!

    Super helpful! I have a few questions since i’m looking to get a wacky setup regarding a preamp and power amp.
    From the preamp into the power amp, and from power amp output into the RL, Can I just plug my headphones in and play through that or will I have issues? I’m still trying to dip my toes into different amp setups and recording and all of that

    Is this the same thing that is in Pete Thorns new amp?

      It is built right into his! Pretty damn cool

    Just got one of these used. The IR output is barely audible, vs the non-IR output. Using a 100w Marshall head @8Ohms, and sounds fine going through my real cab as well. I verified the IR's are in their folders, so not sure what else it could be? I tried balanced and unbalanced cables as the outputs to my DAW.

    Anyone know what “transparent” attenuator I can use with this device? I prefer this over torpedo captor X.

    Great video! Sorry if I missed it, but what kind of cable are you using to connect the Reactive Load (TS or TRS) and which input are you using on your interface (Instrument/Hi-Z or Line)?

    • @SteveSterlacci
      @SteveSterlacci  2 роки тому +2

      It goes speaker cable from amp to RL. Regular 1/4" line out. Line in on the interface

    • @AndrewLynchMusic
      @AndrewLynchMusic 2 роки тому

      @@SteveSterlacci awesome. I was reading that it needs to be TRS, but I have been running it with a regular TS cable and it's been working. Might grab a TRS and try it just to be sure, but good to know it's working for you. Thanks!

    I'm torn between: This Suhr unit, The Captor X or the Fryette PS-2? - I'm just trying to "tame" a Fender Princeton. It's too Loud for a NYC apartment. Anyone use all 3 and have any opinions?

    • @SteveSterlacci
      @SteveSterlacci  3 роки тому +2

      A buddy of mine swears by the fryette. The Suhr with my princeton is phenomenal

      @@SteveSterlacci Appreciate the input. I am still doing my research. All 3 sound great to me. I just want to "tame" the volume. The Princeton is too loud for a NYC apartment. Stay Safe brother.

    • @SteveSterlacci
      @SteveSterlacci  3 роки тому +1

      If you're looking for a straight attenuator, the suhr doesn't do that. It loads it to line level so you can go direct to a FRFR monitor (at any volume ), recording interface or just straight to headphones

      @@SteveSterlacci Thanks again... then, i'm probably looking at the PS-2?

      @@michael_caz_nyc The Suhr looks great but I went with the Captor X because of extra features that help me dial in a tone. With the Captor X software, I can easily try out different IR's on my hardrive, and when I find one I like I can drag it onto the unit. It also allows you to run two IR's simultaneously. So I will run one IR with say a 57 and a second IR on the same cab with say a 121. I can then blend the two two mics. If I want to be brighter, I pull down the fader of the 121 and visa versa. This helps my dial in a tone similarly as if I was micing a real cab with two mics. I will use one for the brighter tone and one for a darker tone and blend the level of the two. As far as I can tell, with the Suhr you have to drag IR's onto the unit via a folder and I don't think you can combine two IR's. This looks like it would make auditioning IR's a pain. The unit seems to sound great, but without those features I think it would make dialing in a tone a bit more difficult. I could be wrong as I have never used the Suhr, but from the research I've done this is what I gather. So it really depends on your personal needs.

    Any drawback for not using headphones out directly from Suhr IR? What interface do you have after it? Just got my first tube amp and starting to get neighbor complains. :)

    So let me get this right, before I spend a good wod of money. Totally new to this world.
    I'm wanting to plug my pedalboard and amp into my DAW on my computer to recording, I'd also like to use Celestions DRS PLUG in pack.
    Would I be able to put my Z-Wreck and pedalbaord into this using the line out and use it to use the Celestion DSR speaker sim pack to record, rather than the units on board speakers?

    • @SteveSterlacci
      @SteveSterlacci  Рік тому

      You're close. You do need an IR loader in your DAW to host the speaker pack. If its an IR pack, you can also load those into the physical unit so you eliminate a step for your fav IRs

      Thank you for the reply.
      Right I didn't know IR's needed a loader for them. The pack is the "Celestion Speaker Mix Pro" which are DSR's. I don't know if they can be loaded to the unit as its a whole, Room, micing, Cab and speaker piece of software?

    Thanks for the demo! Is there an internal fan in the unit and if so is it loud?
    I have a two notes captor and the fan in the unit is really annoying! Hoping to upgrade to the Suhr

    • @SteveSterlacci
      @SteveSterlacci  4 роки тому

      No fan in it! Its dead silent(maybe slight mechanical noise thats barely audible) and didn't get warm. It was right next to my mic for the demo. Thanks for checking it out! If you decide to pull the trigger, i have amazon links in the description and get a kick back if you use it 🤷‍♂️. I.hope you get a chance to play one! I love it

    I found this video trying to figure out why I was hearing this high, fizzy overtone in my signal even though I was clipping nowhere in the signal path. I noticed that when you slammed the front end with the EQ pedal, the same thing happened with your signal. It went from sounding like a normal broken up amp, to a normal more broken up amp plus fizz. I don't know if the term I'm looking for is "artifiacting" but that's what it feels like--a gross digital clippy sound. Are you not hearing that and I"m just insane?

    • @StatusMusicDesign
      @StatusMusicDesign 4 роки тому

      Near the end of the video though, it seems like it went away with that last use of gain.

    • @SteveSterlacci
      @SteveSterlacci  4 роки тому +1

      Yep. the purpose was to demonstrate how to adjust the input gain on the RL. That fizzy clipping comes from hitting the RL too hard. bring down your DI Level and use the DAW or interface for makeup gain
