- A toddler is now an orphan following the mass shooting in Highland Park, Illinois. Two-year-old Aiden McCarthy was attending the local Fourth of July parade with his mom Irina McCarthy and dad Kevin McCarthy when bullets started to fly. Witnesses say Kevin McCarthy shielded his son with his own body. The 2-year-old survived and was taken in by Dana and Greg Ring. After posting on social media, a neighbor of the McCarthy's recognized Aiden and reunited him with his grandparents.
No amount of money can replace parents, but at least he has something to fall back on. The kindness and support of people is heartwarming

The jutice in the US is, give him 3 meals/day, shelter with HVAC, game room, gym, basketball court, cable TV, doctor visit whenever he's sick, all free for life. Plus a chance to escape or release if natural disaster happens. People say death sentence cost way more. Yeah, only in your country who treat criminals like treasure while treating citizens like junks.
I hope the lady is doing well. It sounds like she just barely made it out alive too and even tho she was terrified and in shock, she still managed to grab the little boy and to bring him to safety along with her.
You’re amazing lady. If it wasn’t for you who knows if anyone else of good faith was to find him.

I thought I was becoming numb from these tragedies and then this little guy popped up in my feed and I have cried so much for him and his parents and the other victims. His Daddy will always be his hero. May his parents rest in peace. God bless this baby boy and keep him safe. And thank you to the couple that rescued him. Angels on Earth do exist.

I live 20 minutes away from where this happened and I can’t describe the heart wrenching feeling that I felt when I found out about this, especially because the guy that did this was on the loose for 6 hours before they got him. Prayers for Adien and his family, and all the other victims families.

@@endofaneraoutnow3473 Unfortunately I still don't know what the cause was. I was born in Kazakhstan and was put up for adoption at 1. I then got adopted into a really loving family. I had a lot of issues growing up and even spent 3 years in a theraputic boarding school getting the therapy I needed. I am beyond grateful because in my knowledge, I was one of the last orphans to get adopted to a family living in the US.

As someone who lives just a few towns south of where this happened, I feel so much hate and sorrow on so many different levels. Also the fear that raged, I was just one town over when it happened. Truly heartbreaking. My love goes out to all those families

My friend's grandma had a heart attack and was in a hospital two blocks away from the shooting. My friend knows someone who works where the shooting happened, and he said she was was terrified of all the blood. To think someone was orphaned is very sad. Rest In Peace to the parents

Oh man I feel for this kid. I am in my 30s and expect to have my first child in my 30s thinking I have my whole life ahead of me. I've used the time before my 30s to find myself and know what I want out of life. So when I have children I'll have no regrets in my mind of what could have been. That feeling of finally getting your life together, then realizing you have much more to give and have children. Just to be gunned down by a loser who doesn't want to have those tough conversations with themselves to find the true value of life.....The last though would have been about their child and how they won't be there to guide him through life.

This is heart wrenching! I started crying hearing about this as I have a 21 month old daughter. I turned 40 in May and just had my end of life documents notarized because you never know when your time is up on Earth!
He's too young to remember anything. As he grows up he'll only know that his parents died when he was very young. I hope he has a good life with his grandparents. Bless his little soul. 🙏

I've never cried so much but hearing a small two-year-old boy now orphaned, hurts me because it hits close to home. My son is also two years old and having to grow up with no parents is the hardest thing for a child. I hope for the best for Aiden and the families affected by this tragedy.
