You can use any brand parallel kit with different generator brands and models it will work, as long as they are both parallel capable generators. - Наука та технологія
Hey Gavin thanks for making this vid I didn’t know you could use with other brands. Perfect👌🏼
Omg why couldnt i find this vid first. I watched so many and none answered the questions. This video explains evetything as clear as day. Thank you! God Bless and LGB.
Aunt Barbara adores you!
Thanks Aunt Barbara
I’m happy this helped you out
Thanks for the video! This answered several questions I was confused about.
Hi, Gavin. Thank you for presenting information. Note that I was told by a representative that there was no kit for the 3500 which is parallel compatible but I could use an after market product. Again, thank you for identifying which brands are available and clearing the air that it does not matter which one you select to connect units. In this video, you identified a predator parallel kit. Note in the comments below, I read that you can use kit on any model regardless of the power range. Please correct me if I misunderstood your response.
Yes! You can use any brand kit on any brand generator as long as they have the same connections and parallel capable.
@@GeneratorReviews Thank you Gavin!
Thank You, I learn every time I watch you
Thanks 🙏🏾
Looking good !! Really nice.
Excellent Information. Thank you!
My pleasure!
I made a Mistake Buying this inverter Generator Parallel Kit ! I got it last year for my future project and thought I was Buying a DC to AC inverter ! I guess down the road I may have use for it lol > Thanks for The Info !!!
Great video, Gavin!!!
As always Gavin, really good information. Especially the point and importance of connecting the parallel wires before turning them on. I didn’t think much about it that turning one on would give current to the other. Great job in explaining that most important point. Does harbor freight also make a 50 amp parallel kit? Thanks 🙏 and congratulations on your 1k subscribers. 👍
Thanks buddy
10k here I come 😎
Get the firman 50 amp 1201 you’ll like that one
I have two 2 Firman W01682 generators. They worked great with the Predator parallel kit. They also worked ok with the Generac G0068770 but the over load kicked on during syncing and the generator sputtered. I don't recommend using it.
I called Firman and they said there is no kit required. The W01682 can be paralleled with the wires provided. The manual incorrectly states additional accessories are required. Firman is working on an update for their manual. Hope this helps. -AA
Great video. Many thanks sir. Subbed!😃
Thanks 🙏🏾
Good Video - And Congrats on getting to 1000 Subscribers.
🎉 🎊 Thank you appreciate it
Oh yes thanks for your videos I’m learning sir .
Yessir.. you’re welcome ☺️
Thank you Gavin.
Thanks
Thanks!
Nice video thanks
Thanks for clarifying, the parallel plugs don’t matter on the orientation. The Predator 1400 doesn’t color code their parallel ports red/black.
I was torn between the XP9000ih and Predator 9500 inverter. Sounds like this Firman will work with the Predator with the 3 connections with the right wattage model? Great video!
Have you done a build on the parallel kit? Love the videos, please keep them coming
Thanks
No I haven’t done one yet
Great info, my consern is when I parralel my 2 preditor generators one always run out of fuel while the other one run and power my camper for another hour or 2. This happen normally early morning while I am still in bed and not ready to get my bones out of bed to refuel both gennys. I recently had to replace my two fireman gennys that stop to produce power. I am concerned that my 2 new predetor gennys will go the same way if noe run out of fuel before the other. I did notice that when connected in parallel and only one genny is running the display on the second one is lit up and accumulate hours although it is not running. I would really appreciate your thoughts on this.
You could always try installing a external parallel fuel tank
ua-cam.com/video/8zYsXUVA9y4/v-deo.html
That would definitely take care of your running out of fuel problem
Can you also use the receptacle s on the generator if you don’t choose to use the ones on the box , for instance you don’t have the twist lock or the 50 amp but the generator has a 30 amp RV plug ? I am thinking it would be like the Honda cord that just ties the generators together and you have to use the generator receptacles .
Yes, you can still use the receptacles and get the benefit of both parallel generators
Great video Gavin ! I'm confused though . I have an older Nikota 3500 watt genset and a newer 437500 watt predator ge nerator. What should I use to parallel them together? They are not the inverter type of gensets. Thanks Darryl.
Hey Darryl
The non inverter generators are not able to parallel because they can’t sync frequency with each other
Sorry buddy
Great information! You mention the "Gavin Garage Built" parallel kit that is similar to the Generac G0068770 in that it has two male end plugs to connect to the generators. Can i use that style (and in particular that model parallel kit) with the Firman 2000W units?
Yessir you sure can
I'm kinda late to the game, but I see the Pred says 4000W peak 3200 running. Does that mean over those ratings that kit it is not recommended? I was not sure if the wiring within the parallel kit had a ga that would not be right for higher wattage and higher than that you would need to find one with higher ratings? Thanks for your expertise on all the subjects you cover.
No you should be just fine you can parallel two 4500w with this kit
It’s a 50 amp kit
very good info
Thanks for watching 😎
Good information
Thanks for watching
hey Gavin , do you think that your parallel kit that is with regular plugs would work to connect 2 solar generators to double the power ? I'm little worried I might burn one of them if I plug in a live plug
That is one thing I have not tried, because I don’t think they come with parallel capable inverters. I’m like you I can’t risk it.
Incredible interview. It covers so much and easy to follow thanks. From what I understand with this video. I have a Honda 3000 gen. and a Cummins Onan 4500. Can I parallel them? I have a 50 amp trailer. What would you suggest if I can parallel them what kit would you suggest ? Thanks.
I really think you should get the Firman it has a 50 amp plug and a 30 amp plug with switch right on the side of each of them you’ll get 6000 starting watts with your set up and 5600 running watts
@@GeneratorReviews THankyou so much. Where can I get one?

Great video! So what is the difference between the inverters in a generator and let's say a DC to ac inverter? Would the same principal apply in this configuration? Could I take separate 12v to 120v inverters, hook them up to one of these parallel kits, and expect the same results?
Nope you can’t do that with a dc to ac inverter, only a grid tie inverter can parallel like a generator. Thanks great question
I’ve ordered (2) Westinghouse igen2500 (2500/2200) to parallel during hurricane outages. I’ve noticed 30 amp parallel kit only provides 3600 watts due to 30 amps. Should I or can I safely use the 50 amp parallel kit to get the fully double capacity of 5000/4400?
Westinghouse has a 50amp parallel kit that will let you get full capacity of your generators. I like igen2500 but just wish it is dual fuel.
Thanks for the video. You need a video for the "Gavin's Garage made" kit. I have older generators with no parallel ports. Did you just wire the parallel plugs to 110v plugs?
The regular generators without parallel Kit will not phase together
@@GeneratorReviews Not even if its a SiNE inverter? Its a BE 3500.
another question. When pushing through a surge protector with a couple of generators hooked up to a parallel kit. do I need the Ground neutral bond jumper plug in both generators or just one?
Just one, the bonding plug fixes the open ground on both Gens
@@GeneratorReviews thank you.. great job.. all very helpful.
Would the two inverter generators perform load balancing in the case of different generator capacities? For example, the Honda Eu3000i and a 2Kw inverter generator of a different brand or even the same brand.

Will the Firman plugs work with a Champion generator? Champions use a square shaped plug but I wonder if the Firmans round plugs would still fit into the square opening?
Thanks for watching but unfortunately the round earlier plugs will not work with the new square plugs
You also can’t parallel them
Gavin. I’ve been watching a few of your videos today. I have the predator 9500. If I hook up another 9500 does that mean I’ll have 19k amps max? Can I hook up the 9500 and 3500 or do they have to be equal?
You will have 12500W max running , that’s what your inlet line maximum
You can’t parallel the 9500 amp 3500
if you have a ground neutral plug or have altered the outlets to be tied to ground (non floating neutral), do you still need to tie the green ground ties from the parallel kit to the generators? Recommendations on the matter is appreciated!
Better safe than sorry it doesn’t hurt to ground both generators
what happens if you pair 2 generators like the Predator 3500 ?? Do you get 6000 watts with 2 in parallel??
Yessir you double your output power when both gens have the same rating
Thanks for the Vid. ??? Can you run one generator while the other generator is off while hocked up together. What if your running both for AC during the day, but at night just run one generator for lights and TV. Do you half to disconect the setup and just plug one running generator to my electrical system.??? thank you so much.
Yes you can you just have to make sure it stays plugged in at all time once you start the second generator, they will sync up
So I’m hearing from you and other commenters that we can use two of the same generators and a different parallel kit… thanks for that but my other question now is can we use two small inverter generators to get 240 V 50 AMPs I’m trying to use the parallel kit that actually has “240v 50amp” on it example looking at using the Westinghouse 4500 watt 2 of them paired together? If not any ideas on 2 inverters that could push out 50amp 240 volt? The reason for this is we want two smaller generators to run the house when we lose power to run a well the furnace water heater fridge deep freeze…..But we don’t want to use a massive one around the property or when we go camping. Thanks!!
Check out this video I just did that should answer all your questions

So I purchased the Duromax 9000IH (on your recommendation) and I have an older Cummins/Onan 6500 watt non-inverter unit. Can these be paralleled together or do both have to be inverter style?
They both should be parallel capable most people say you can but I wouldn’t do that .
Hey Gavin. I have 2 champion 4500 inverters that I need to hook up to my trailer that wired for 240v/50amps. Is there any way to achieve this? My only appliance that has a large draw is my big espresso machine which is 220v. Is there any way to get those generators to paralle to my trailer that you can think of that can deliver 50amp at minimum of 220v?
Unfortunately the only way to get 240v is with a split phase generator that has 240v
What's your thoughts on parallel in a? 9500 predator and a 3500 predator for occasional large loads like washers and dryers along with AC & Refrigerator. and normal stuff.
Those two can’t be parallel together one’s a 240 V the other ones 120 V

HeY Galvin, So I have two Hondas 2200’s . I bought me a predator parallel kit 50 amps. So i did a test i plugged my surge protector 50 amps, with out a load. All the lights in the surge protector said it was working fine. As soon as I put a load (A/C) my surge protector lights came on saying that i Had a reverse polarity. Whats going on? I tried switching the parallel kit plugs on the Hondas and still getting the same result. Can i run my ac with reverse polarity?
This is a unique situation I need more info
One question.. I am new to this, once I plug my 2 generators to the kit, how do I connect the things that I will be using?? Is there a adapter that I can use to plug into the parallel kit and have the regular house outlets??
Thanks in advance!
Yes you can buy adapters that convert

I just noticed you can parallel two Powerhorse 3,00/4,500 generators with their kit (Part DPC-004) and have a 120/240volt 50 amp outlet. . This would probably get close to 30 amps @240V?
Most parallel kit will not work with 240v unless the generator has 240v
Gavin, i bought a champion parallel kit but it has the square shaped parallel ports but my generac iq 3500 is circle shaped so they are not physically compatible. Are there any adapters to change it from the square to a circle?

Hi, Gavin thank you for your Videos... How can I run 2 9500 predator generator together? Thank you again ✌🏻
You need the parallel kit from harbor freight specially for the 9500. Still not available yet
Hi Gavin! Would I need 2 grounding plugs, if I am using 2 generators in parallel? Thanks
No you’ll only need one
Do these parallel kits make 240? If not is it possible to make 240 from two separate Generators like two Ryobi generators to run a 240v 20a well pump wired through a switch so you have the double pole breaker?
No, they don’t make 240 V.
what size of wire are the banana plugs that connect the two 3500 watt generators in parallel at 50 amps?
The wire is 10 gauge wire on the clamps
Sorry if this question’s been asked, but I recently bought a 30amp 3,600 watt inverter, and wanted to know if I paralleled the same one with it (with my 30amp generator cord being able to handle 7500 watts), will it be able to handle the load?
Yes, your cable will definitely handle the load because your 3600 is starting watts
@@GeneratorReviews Hey Gavin - I should’ve mentioned 3,600 is running watts (starting is 4,400). That probably changes things, right? My generator inlet box is 30amps. Do I have any options to parallel if this load is too high? Do I just need a lower wattage inverter? Thanks - appreciate it!
another question and thanks so much for your prompt answer. Does one need a surge protector on your generator. In my case I have a Honda 3000 attached to a 50 amp. cord. running 15000 btu. air and the second question would be will this 3000 already purchased gen. run a 15000 air conditioner.
Yes! Yes! You should always run your generator with a surge protector just in case there’s a surge in power it protect your Rv by shutting off and you don’t have to replace every appliance in the RV
The Honda 3000 will be right at 50% no problem Running a 15,000 BTU AC
@@GeneratorReviews Thanks so very much ...Extremely helpful.
Just to add. If you have a 240v split phase you can only parallel with another split phase.
Yep true
How many watts do you get out of a "parallel" connection? And how can the output/load be monitored for the two connected?
Paralleling generators, doubles your power. You can install a monitor on the parallel Kit.
I was wandering i have a dual feul 3300w 2900w running. Could i parallel with smaller 2000w ?? And i noticed firman has a different parallel kit for dual feul model do i need that one ?? And can i use dual feul with regular gas one ?? Thanks !!
Yes, you can pair a dual fuel with a regular gas. You can also get a parallel kit that uses the 20 amp plug.
Can you connect wo inverted generators of different watts ..like a 2000 W with a 1400W generator as long as they are inverted?
ua-cam.com/video/bsu3C15WNhE/v-deo.html
yes check out this vid should answer your question
Yes but once they sync up, you'll have 2800 watts not 3400. In others, ⁓twice the smaller of the 2 gennys.
Hi,
I have an inverter generator (4000 peak watts/3200 running watts). It came with a paralleling kit whereas the connection connects one inverter generator to the other inverter generator. I would then plug into one of the 30 amp outlets on either of the generators. This parallel connection does not have a separate outlet similar to other kits.
1. By paralleling with the kit I was supplied and connecting to the 30 amp outlet on the generator, does this also increase the output?
2. Is the outlet still limited to 30 amp output?
3. What is the benefit of using a parallel kit that has a separate either 30 amp or 50 amp outlet.
Thanks for your time. Hope you had a great July 4th.
Unless you had a 50 amp plug on the actual parallel kit. Where did you find this parallel kit?

I like your video. But I must beg to differ. I have 2 Champion 2000w gens, just bought a 30amp parallel kit and before leaving the store I tried to plug it in. Nope. The bezels on the generator are square, not round. So there's no way to plug the round par kit into the square gen bezel. I returned it. Will it work on two preditor 9500
No this will not work on 240 V generators just 120 V generators
U don't even need a parallel kit. If your inverter generators support parallel oparation u can just join the line with line and neutral with neutral of any other inverter generator of same voltage and frequency and it will work in parallel..the inverter board has detection and can sync with the incoming line frequency and waveform to not cause a big short.
Internally the parallel plugs are just connected to one of the mains plug. Red goes to line and black goes to neutral. That's how the wiring is inside the genarator. And u have live mains at the parallel kit plug.
Yep! You’re right the only thing the parallel kit does is now that you doubled your output power that 30amp plug will still trip at 30amps so the kit has a 50 amp plug.
If the generator come with the step up plug then perfect 👍🏾
Thanks Kuntal
Great info - so are you saying you could join the red to red and black to black parallel ports directly and if the unit already has a 240V/50A plug then you can pull double the power off that plug? (For example I was looking at the Genmax GM7250ieDC trying to increase the 240V/50A power)
Hi Gavin, I have searched and searched for an answer about paralleling generators. I still have not found my answer. People will say.... "you can parallel any generator". Ok. But then some say... "if it is parallel ready" How do you know if it is? I am buying two 15000/9000 W generators. Can I parallel them? Is it possible to parallel any two generators, no matter how many Watts? They will be identical generators. The brand I am looking at is Benchmark. I hope you can help me.
Conventional portable generators that are not equipped with the inverter technology are usually not parallel capable, because you need to synchronize them before attempting to double their power output.
If you notice most Generators that are parallel capable are inverter generators
And if you buy two conventional generator They will not be able to be parallel together
@@GeneratorReviews Interesting!
What happens when generators that are not synchronized and get connected? I saw what was left of a 10 Megawatt (10 million watt) generator in a small power station that came apart after its breaker opened under load. A faulty synchronization relay slammed the generator back on line without being synchronized. The torque ripped 1-1/4'' steel generator foundation bolts out of the concrete foundation and threw the generator into the second floor conference room before slamming back down into its hole. It broke the Elliott steam turbine output shaft and wrecked everything so badly that the turbine and generator were scrapped.
I supervised the crew who replaced the unit with a used Westinghouse turbine generator set that we adapted to the foundation. We overhauled it in place and got it up and running. The Westinghouse unit came from a closed mill in Danville, Virginia and was shipped to Sacramento, Ca, by a convoy of fully loaded 80,000 pound tractor trailer rigs. I was at both ends on that assignment. Danville had a terrible lightning storm one day and we said it was an appropriate sign because we were breathing lightning back into this old tired unit destined for the scrap yard.
Gavin, you need some more MPPT charge controllers on that wall! I have that same Reliance transfer switch.
Gas turbine and steam turbine generators were my bread and butter for a decade when I was a Field Engineer for GE. I visited 17 countries. I kept the lights on all over the planet, so for my house to ever be dark would be a supreme insult to me.
In the late 1960's my mom talked Amana into giving us a Radarange microwave oven to road test in a 9000 mile 2 month trip all over the USA. Nobody knew what that thing was. We had tons of show-n-tell every place we stopped. I will bet that we were the first to ever put a microwave oven in a motorhome...a 27 foot Dodge Travco with 10,000 watt Kohler 4 cylinder generator. Thumbs up for every one of your videos!
