What makes you think that it doesn't have some kind of ecm? Cars had ECM's over a decade before this. In this case it really is just a programmable ignition curve and possibly some kind of engine feedback via an o2 sensor to adjust the air fuel ratio via the solenoid in the carb. None of that was "rocket science" in the 1990's.
Good to see Jeff. He was one of the greats.
So cool! to hear about how far ahead the Japanese were on their bikes there. Rad to see Jeff!
Nice. One of fav riders.
“I’m No Chicken” was 1st instruction video.
I loved this guy and Damon Bradshaw. Their feud was legendary
Nice to see Jeff, I often wonder where some of these guys are and how they're doing. These are the guys I/we looked up to.
Great to see, Chicken!
So good! Keep it coming
Ultra cool! Wild that they had the electronics so advanced. Would love to see what electronic solenoid thing on the carb Ping mentions (1:59).
Chicken was a fucking legend man 🤟
Chicken was basically a rockstar on two wheels
The Japanese did a lot of dyno testing pining down different power deliveries from the various component combinations
I'm good friends with Tony Berluti. He has one of Chickens Suzuki's and I rode it a couple of times, that was years ago.
How awesome is this 👏 🐓
Man, you coulda turned this interview into a novel
He was my favorite when I was young
TOP video.
Love us some CHICKEN 💪👍👊✊✌️😉
More old bikes more old guys
I watched chicken race in the Seattle kingdome and Washougal Washington
I'm shocked that the front brake line isn't routed like a Honda
I want to know what was done to his 500, aside from larger crank bearings.
And also, does he still have the #6 YZM500?
Legend
Just recently saw Chicken 1995 Japan KX 250 sell at Mecum auction for $50K.😮
Wow!
Every year a rabbit to chase (American)……who was the European Rabbit in America 1970’s. Pierre Karsmaker.
The Man… DeCoster
How could this bike be programmed with no ECM? I think chicken was smoking a chicken
It does have one, it’s under the seat in the air box.

There was a solenoid on the carb, which makes sense regarding his mapping story
