"No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we'll ever see on this earth!" --Ronald Reagan
Someone said to me, half of the jobs at the government are redundant so its basically a form of well-fair with a social aspect and some feeling of purpose.
Elon Musk got this idea from the Argentina of president Milei. I am very sure he will use a lot of ideas from Federico Sturzenegger, who is an Argentine economist who is the current Minister of Deregulation and State Transformation under Javier Milei's presidency. It's working like a charm in Argentina, hope that can be use in the USA too.
@@walkthebrokenpath0 The only reason Musk paid high taxes is his massive dumping of Tesla shares, which were massively subsidized in the first place. Anyway, that's irrelevant to my point -- allowing a business magnate to regulate the regulators defeats the point of regulation.
I agree. Unfortunately, while Musk is anti-debt, Trump is pro-debt. He loaded up on debt in 2019 when he should have cut the deficit. Trump wants a humming economy for his term, because he cares about optics. He doesn't care about what it will cost the country in 10 years.
If your broke a$$ genuinely believes a billionaire president and the world's richest man will cut cost with best intentions for you... You are up for well deserved shock of life time and 4 years of pain! Looking forward to watching this from far!
This is one of the things Elon Musk is very good at, which is cleaning out the unnecessary crap. Anyone who has ever worked, or at least had an office job knows that there are people who just want to be lazy at work. They just hang around, want to drink coffee and have meetings so they can pass the time. They just want their salary and don't care about doing any work. Elon has become successful because he has companies where he clears out these types of people. Now he will do the same with the government. I think it's great. Why should people earn money if they produce nothing of value? Elon removed thousands of people from Twitter, and the website is even better today.
His famous design philosophy is that "the best part is no part". It's Lean engineering taken to the extreme. I tend to agree - it isn't about rearranging the pieces, it's about having fewer pieces to arrange. It's about deleting whatever causes more problems than it solves.
I would say most people at most companies fall in to this category. I've worked at several multinationals where at least half the employees were unproductive.
X is NOT better today. It's turned into an aggressive platform which Musk has used over the last 12 months to push his own agenda and bury opposing views by downgrading it's importance
True, should get rid of all welfare because people that arent working or cannot work (disabled, elderly, whoever else qualifies) should earn nothing from any welfare program as they are producing nothing of value, right?
I'm from the Philippines, we have the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) which is tasked to reduce processing time, cut bureaucratic red tape, and eliminate corrupt practices which is similar to Elon's objective.
I'm also from the Philippines and it has 300% more red tape in many areas than the U.S. The one year of stupidity to import a car is one example, resulting in older worse cars selling for almost twice as much as they sell for in the U.S.
@@JackIsNotInTheBox I'm aware, if there are 2 people with Resume's capable of doing so It's President Trump and Elon Musk, If he can do 300+ Billion for himself , think what he could do for the country when given the power
A few years back, a man fell off a pier and drowned near where I lived. I witnessed no less than six agencies respond, searching for the body. All were there, standing around, willing to help, but no one clearly in charge. Notably absent was the constable, who was a friend. I called him and asked why he wasn’t there. “That’s my job,” he said, “But there are too many people involved for me to do it.” The body was ultimately recovered, but the level of governmental inefficiency was revealed, and I cannot unsee it.
Most departments now follow this method. I have been to several trainings now with this method. Incident Command System (ICS) A standardized system that helps manage incidents by providing a common structure for personnel from different organizations to work together. ICS is used for all types of incidents, including planned events.
Sounds like you have a constable who should have a different job. I worked in a union shop while I was in college. All my life I’d been told it was impossible to fire union workers. Management in that shop had no problem getting rid of several bad apples while I worked there. We had a retired military officer/nco (I don’t know what exactly he did, but he was an obvious leader). He’d simply work the rules. Document everything, and continue at the process until his target was gone. Could he arbitrarily walk in one day and say, “you’re fired.”? No. He had to do his job and honor the employment contract. If you constable friend doesn’t think coordinating the recovery process is worth his time, he should find another job. In fact there should have been a plan on record with those other agencies, and defined chain of command. A professional LEO would be on top of that.
Here in rhe UK it is the same. I worked as an agency worker doing facilities in a government facility. As I "had time" they asked me to call some third parties to get them in for essential meetings that their people had failed to do for three weeks. I filled all the slots in less than two days! All the DEI hires (I was the only straight, white male in the building!) hated me for it. They complained and got me terminated!
For those curious, Joe asks the title question in the last 10 seconds of the video and Elon simply responds “Well I’m pretty good at efficiency.” The content is still valuable, but if you’re looking for that specific question, well… there you go.
This is not just in government but in the workforce as well. I work in a place where eight years ago, five people would watch 1 person work, which means that one person has to work to sustain 6 peoples jobs. They would walk around all day believing that efficiency is telling people to work harder unless it was hot out. In that case we got a little peace while they hung out in there AC offices. When covid hit, almost all of those five to one "leaders" refused to come to work leaving just a handful of actual workers and the owner of the company. He came up to me and said "because of your dedication, I would like to promote you to a leadership position." I said "Thank you, but in reality, I've alway been a leader and have successfully lead from the position I have now and this position is much more effective to lead from than having five people pretend to watch me. I'm not good because of their leadership, but because of my own." Now, we have 20 workers to 1 leader and the leadership role is not to tell people to work harder, but instead to find efficient ways to make jobs easier. I believe Elon has this kind of mentality as well.
As a business owner, I deal with that in regulations. Things are now at a zero-win state due to too many rules canceling each other or demanding things be done in ways that sound good on paper but are literally physically impossible to implement in reality.
@@321gatesyou ain’t lying. I work in a union and the people required to do some tasks is utterly ridiculous. Total waste of resources in all honesty. Never understood it but they all love it.

I remember a plumber friend of mine doing work at military base and the top head guy there saying to replace all the toilets 🚽 that were working fine just because if they didn’t use all their allocated money for the year, they would get less next year. @Denver____ that policy is common in government and the school system. I have listened to teachers talk about dumping their new supplies in rhe dumpsters so they would have money next school year. It is freaking criminal!! This disgusting wasteful country!!!

Yeah budget reductions are a worry in the military for sure.🎉 End of year budget spending is like a party requesting odd things and hoping it gets approved.
Yup, in my country also the same. My friend is policeman. Whenever they get new vehicle to patrol their area, they have to achive certain km at the end of the month wether they need it to use or not (since they also have another patrol cars to use), otherwise they gonna lose that car if the km not meet with the rules. 😂😂😂
I agree with Elon that we need to have a scorched earth mentality on fighting the national debt. It is so ridiculously out of control. I am excited that something is finally going to be done about it.
Sen. Rand Paul purposed to take one penny from every dollar to balance the budget over a 4 or 5 year period, and they refused, probably because it showcased their ineptitude.
Debt is actually a sign of a healthy economy, it means the government is investing. Even businesses have debt, if you look at Tesla they were loosing money for many years, with the only thing keeping them afloat were investors and increasing stock prices. They almost declared bankruptcy in 2018. It wasn’t until 2020 that they started turning a profit. That being said US debt is out of control and needs to be reigned back in.
America is so gifted to have people who like them, on their way to turn around the governmental machine that grow too big. Most other countries have the government drag the country down.
Well, a lot of them are basically collecting a paycheck for free now so even if you cough up that kind of severance it’s better in the long run not to have to pay them a pension for life once they retire
I plan to retire at 62 in another country outside the US that is free, safe and very cheap with a high quality of life. I could fully just rely on only my SS if I wanted to when that times arrives but l'll also have at least one pension, a 403 (b) and a very prolific Investment account with my Stephanie Janis Stiefel my FA. Retiring comfortably in the US these days is almost impossible.
I know this lady you just mentioned. Stephanie Janis Stiefel is a portfolio manager and investment advisor. She gained recognition as an employee of neuberger berman; a renowned investor she is. Stephanie Janis Stiefel has demonstrated expertise in investment strategies and has been involved in managing portfolios and providing guidance to clients.
I’m planning on moving to Thailand in the next 5 years if trump’s government doesn’t do anything with the high prices of groceries and taxes What about you??
I went from no money to Invest with to busting my A** off on Uber eats for four months to raise about $20k to start trading with Stephanie Janis Stiefel. I am at $128k right now and LOVING that you have to bring this up here
Screw extended severance. Govt employees have skated on our dime for too long. When I was laid off and received 4 weeks of severance after 12 years at my job, they still took tax dollars which partially went to their salaries. We the people have had enough of supporting the government
The problem is that Gov. employment has both tenure and strong labor unions. If you just institute mass layoffs you're also going to have to deal with hundreds of thousands of legally valid wrongful termination lawsuits. If you ask people to voluntarily resign in exchange for a more than generous severance you'll have a lot of people take you up on it and you get to avoid all of the legal issues.
@@ERG8000 Not all Gov employees are unionized. Also, each Department/Agency/etc. has it own favored judge, who generally rules in their favor for terminations when the terminated employee attempts to sue. The problem is that internet warriors don't know what they are talking about.
@@ERG8000 Nope. Outside of secretaries, most Fed Employees are paid less than their private sector counterparts. Private contractors, on the other hand, make the bank. The difference in pay is compensated by more PTO than what you typically see in the private sector, and that is it, and an IRA or other retirement fund that Fed employees do not have to pay into. Also, when a Fed employee reaches the end of their series, say if they are a GS9-11, and hit GS11, the only option for a pay raise is with step increases, that are incremental by a few grand, and as time goes on years are added in-between each step. It takes roughly 20 years to go from a Step 1 to a Step 10. Other than that, they only get a yearly COL increase, which under Trump 1.0 was frozen. So, in this example if you hit GS11, Step 10, that is it. For the rest of your life you will never get a raise other than COL, unless you apply for and are hired for, a different position that is say a GS12-13 or whatever. To add, to get into that new position, you have to demonstrate that somehow, along the way, you acquired the skills to be a GS12, which means that the employee had to go out of their way to acquire the skill as the skill is, ironically, not a part of the GS11 position. And, when there is a Gov Shutdown, Fed Employees do not get paid. Usually, they end up with backpay, which is decided by Congress if they do, however, this is never guaranteed. The fucked up thing is that if the Fed employee is deemed an essential employee, they are still expected to show up to work everyday during the shutdown despite not being paid and the possibility of not receiving backpay. But, landlords, mortgage companies, utilities, child care, etc. don't care. The Fed Gov is pretty stingy with benefits, wanting to avoid the perception that they are benefitting from taxpayer dollars. Whenever an Office has a lunch event, Fed Employees have to pay for their meals and beverages. Finally, the average Fed employee is not entitled to a severance package. I would add that many Departments and Agencies are understaffed no matter who is POTUS, but I suppose it depends on the Agency or specific Office within an Agency. Another thing is location based pay. The employee's duty center is their location. Fed employees do not have the luxury of WFH like many in the private sector due, at least with being fully remote, but let's say the employee does, and they work for the NIH in Bethesda, MD. but their duty center is their home in Wyoming. This employee will receive Wyoming pay, not DC pay, which is roughly $10K less than what they would earn if their duty station was in the DC metro. Private sector employees, they get paid what they get when they WFH and have the luxury of moving to cheaper COL area while retaining their Silicon Valley salary, as an example. Fed health insurance is really no better than what is offered by other employers, with the exceptions that Fed Employees have more options and tiers to choose from, coverages, and so on. It is not free, though, and comes out to hundreds of dollars a month depending on coverage, family size, ect. Only high ranking EOs likely get free health care. And, the average Fed employee, the worker bees, are NOT entitled to severance packages. It's not a thing like it is with the private sector, but once again high ranking Gov officials and Officers it may be different. What the average Fed employee might get is a Reduction in Force Benefit if their job was canned due to downsizing. Typically, only those who would qualify for $$$ are those who are near retirement, or who can claim retirement. Everyone will just get offered another Fed position if one is available. Other than that, they are SOL. It's kind of a bad look, not matter who is POTUS, to fire Fed employees and to only have them go on Unemployment. Doesn't matter. It is not the average Fed worker bee who is at risk. It those who are in charge of the Agencies, Departments, and possibly Offices who are at risk. At most, if an Agency or Office is closed under Trump, the employee will get moved somewhere else. In reality, what is likely to happen as well is that Agencies, Departments, and Offices merge, and of course if an Agency or Office is forced to close, this will have a ripple effect on the local economy.
@@bartek5078Exactly. “I got screwed over so they deserve to get screwed over”. It’s almost like there would be less spite if a larger severance was offered and the company wasn’t so scummy. Interesting how the government treats its employees well and that gets shamed. Maybe others should take note.
not merit really, once AI and robots have automated everything merit as a concept will cease to exist. Everyone will have right to everything and everyone will be fine, everything will be free and abundant
Trump's plan is to increase the number of political appointees in government, thereby reducing the number of employees chosen by merit. So I don't follow your logic.
I'm new to stock and crypto. I feel like I’ve missed out on good buying opportunities by investing at the wrong times. With a $450K yearly income, I'm considering putting my savings into the market. Do you think I should learn to invest myself or rely on a financial advisor? I'm getting frustrated trying to find the right coins on my own.
Investing by yourself can be risky due to their complex strategies, high fees, and potential for significant losses. Without expert knowledge, it's challenging to fully assess the risks and returns, making professional guidance crucial.
I understand, it can be challenging with substantial savings and a high income. Learning to invest yourself offers control, but partnering with a financial advisor provides expert guidance, strategic diversification, and helps avoid mistakes. Starting with an advisor builds confidence.

They started cutting after those "day in the life" videos went viral and the people who SPENT the money realized what they were gettting. It's still not enough. I’m 100% supportive of Elon reducing the size of government and increasing efficiency. His analogy w/ for companies vs how the government works, is spot on. Where I take issue is w/a 2 yr year severance package for federal employees. These folks have had better salaries/health insurance/PTO, than the vast majority of Americans. I wouldn’t quibble over a one year severance package. A year severance package gives them plenty of time to look for a new job and get back on their feet. In the interest of cleaning house thoroughly, give everyone an equal package (1 year) and send them packing!
I agree with you 100% on the severance. Small businesses had to close during the Covid experiment and the government didn’t give a darn about those workers or the owners who employed those workers. The gravy train is over….. bye, bye.
We all know Elon’s too busy with Mars, etc. Elon’s focus would be on his own grievances, so conflicts of interest. He’s onto a big issue that needs resolving, but wouldn’t it be better if the Government Accounting Office, with experts, were tasked, rather than an ‘idea guy’?

Government efficiency = shorter bills that are relevant to ONE TOPIC . Shorter bills, less room for slipping in unrelated crap, more frequent focused voting by Congress/senate. Just a thought
1.) Most of our debt was caused by business bailouts so they couldn’t go bankrupt. 2.) Most governments agencies have been outsourced to private businesses which seems to be extremely profitable, i.e. KBR during the Middle East Wars. 3.) When we talk about efficiency are we talking about overlapping agencies which I don’t here. 4.) Been in transportation for many years, looks to me that regulations are not being enforced, rather than over regulated. I think that can be said in any industry. 5.) Exactly what we need to outsource, more jobs to China or the Philippines. 6.) I worked for IRS, most of those people work the full 8 hours, with quotas.
It's very nice that he's worried about them facing economic hardship after being let go. They haven't given us owners of small businesses the same concern and respect
When taking a government contracted job like that he will have to make a serious choice. Take the job and step down from all the rest and put his personal stocks on hold. Today a few legal scholars went on mainstream media about this very subject. Plainly stated what I said above. Sorry, that is uninformed, wishful thinking. The jobs of government and industry are completely different. Good business leaders GROW businesses. We need to reduce the government, not grow it more.
How are you sure they can fix it? They can’t do anything without the house and senate who control the budget. The republicans have both houses of congress now. However, typically the party in power loses seats in mid term elections. If that happens, I don’t see this working.

These replies are misinformed or intentionally misleading and dishonest. Monthly inflation was 25% when Milei took office. He got it under 3% in less than a year. Argentina’s economy has been on a downward spiral for decades under Peronist rule. That’s why the people decided to try something different and elected Milei, an Austrian School economist who has taught economics at universities for 20 years. Despite an entrenched and uncooperative legislature, who tries to block most of his policies, he has managed to reverse the economic situation in less than a year in office. Even ideologically opposed media outlets admit that, so don’t lie.
the goverment not just doesnt have the problem that it doesnt care about spending but usually the departments try to spend as much as possible to get the same amount or more money next year
it was like that even in college, you got a certain amount of funds for your club from the school, if you didn't use it, next year your funding was cut, so you basically ended up using it all unnecessarily. It was only a few thousand dollars so microscopic level of spending compared to the government.
He could honestly accomplish the downsizing by attrition. Don't back fill all positions and transfer personnel to fill among agencies to fill the important jobs. Basically, no new outside hires and only promote/transition from within. The workforce would reduce drastically, relatively speaking, and no one would outright "lose" their job/career.
The backfill is likely part of union contract. To fix the problem you have to deal with the union problem. Unions and government get all their power and money from the volume of workers they have under them. Reduce the number of workers, you reduce the power and wealth of everyone above those workers. THAT is where the fight will be. Just look at that union boss from the dock workers living in his multi million dollar house, threatening to shut down America if he doesn't get a 75% increase. If you reduce his workforce by 80% that destroys his wealth and his power.

The largest and most wasteful bureaucracy is in the military-industrial complex. So many companies grift off government and they will definitely feel the impact
If you haven’t met the contract you don’t get paid. If 100 were supposed to be delivered by this date, and only 50 showed you only get half. Just example. So much could be done with just the intrest from monies with held from payment of delinquent contracts.

Elon is perfect for this job. The government has never been efficient because they don't have to. No businesses could continue to run with a 35 trillion dollar deficit. Elon cut 80% of the Twitter staff and eliminated 2 of 3 of their server farms, and it still works. Why do we have a federal school board, state school boards, and almost every school district within each state has a school board. It obviously doesn't help the quality of education. Federal law enforcement, FBI, ATF, Home land Security, Secret Service, Border Patrol, US Marshall's, ICE, US Park Police, Fish and Game, and many more Can some be combined? And we also have State, county, city and town police departments. The government needs to run more like a private sector business.
You seriously underestimate how much goes into all of those agencies. Some more than others but piling more work on less people will just make the whole process more complicated and slow to get anything done. Btw a quick google search can inform you on what the federal board of education does, not rocket science.
I'll go ahead and throw this out there. Two years severance is a little bit of overkill. Start by offering early retirement and then start whacking positions and maybe 6-9 month severance. They've had it too easy for too long.
What Elon is describing is happening on every level and not just government. People are making decisions that benefits them either for financial reasons or incompetency or something in between and it cost the business and the company. Mistakes repeat and great ideas are often discarded.

In the UK in 80's the British government sold the national water companies to the private sector and 45 years later our rates are much higher, billions of pounds have been syphoned out of the system and ended up in the bank accounts of executives and share holders. They've done next to no upgrading of the infrastructure and as a result the whole system is in dire need of billions of investment, which we the consumer will have to pay for (again). The execs are millionaires and we've got shit in our drinking water. Some things shouldn't be run for profit but as a core public service, health, education and core public services. This isn't communism, its common sense.
It's natural. In times of war, you need to get things done fast and efficiently or you potentially lose due to being underprepared or under resourced. That forces the government to clear out or bypass inefficient regulations. In times of peace, that pressure doesn't exist so as regulators try to solve problems, more and more regulations accumulate. The problem is that new regulations are often implemented without considering their impact on the whole system or what other, similar regulations exist. As the system gets more and more complex, it gets harder and harder to see the big picture (and harder and harder to get things done). It's going to take someone like Elon who is good at looking at the whole picture to figure what is useful and what isn't to fix such a massive tangle, tbh.
Exactly, if we have learned anything from the democrats it is that you can just ignore any law, rule or policy you disagree with and force someone else to sue you in to compliance. Just like they did with illegal immigration, sanctuary cities, defunding the police and all their other non sense.

This comes from people who have never worked in government. A lot of regulations are in place because of contractors taking advantage. It may seem useless but was put in place for a reason.
Yeah but if he starts closing other agencies, there will be no difference. I’m from Argentina and we had 18 Secretaries, some such as Women Ministery (which didn’t really helped). Milei’s government closed and now we have 8, one that is the Ministery of State Deregulation. And it’s whole purpose is to make the government more efficient. In fact Elon Musk is talking with the person in charge to replicate it in the US
As usual, Elon underestimates the legal and administrative processes that would have to be undertaken to implement his plan. Proving that a gov agency is ineffective / inefficient is not a trivial task. And then to fire a bunch of federal employees and prepare severance packages? Elon will waste more money than he saves, guaranteed.
@@DOXO881 I dont know how it works in the US but you make an expense audit. Here in Argentina thats how they are reducing the state. But it can be easier. For example, here we had the Ministery of Women, which was supposed to help reducing the amount of women who suffer violence. The thing is, years after it was created, the amount of women suffering from domestic abuse actually increased. So clearly it was spending money without any result. So they just closed it from day one. There are many ways to cut government spending and bureaucracy. You also need a very deep knowledge of the law. They also said that it was impposible cutting government spending and bureaucracy here, but the government is achieving it from day one. We had a 15% deficit of the GDP. And Argentina was one of the most regulated countries in the world (And every month we have less and less spending and bureaucracy) And for what I understand, Elon Musk is actually talking with the guy in charge of the same task here in Argentina.

A few years back, a man fell off a pier and drowned near where I lived. I witnessed no less than six agencies respond, searching for the body. All were there, standing around, willing to help, but no one clearly in charge. Notably absent was the constable, who was a friend. I called him and asked why he wasn’t there. “That’s my job,” he said, “But there are too many people involved for me to do it.”
The body was ultimately recovered, but the level of governmental inefficiency was revealed, and I cannot unsee it.
Most departments now follow this method. I have been to several trainings now with this method.
Incident Command System (ICS)
A standardized system that helps manage incidents by providing a common structure for personnel from different organizations to work together. ICS is used for all types of incidents, including planned events.
as bizarre as it may sound to a logical, reasonable person, its accurate.
It keeps so many people employed without needing to really do anything 😂
It’s about damn TIME!!!! we needed to do this a LONG TIME AGO!!!!!
For those curious, Joe asks the title question in the last 10 seconds of the video and Elon simply responds “Well I’m pretty good at efficiency.”
The content is still valuable, but if you’re looking for that specific question, well… there you go.
That’s why I quit sales , I had like 4 different “leaders” and they were all like 19-24 I’m 27. That was really confusing
Unions will do that.
As a business owner, I deal with that in regulations. Things are now at a zero-win state due to too many rules canceling each other or demanding things be done in ways that sound good on paper but are literally physically impossible to implement in reality.

I'm not from US, but way you're saying is to treat people as bad as you were treated. How does this makes sense?

The problem is that Gov. employment has both tenure and strong labor unions. If you just institute mass layoffs you're also going to have to deal with hundreds of thousands of legally valid wrongful termination lawsuits. If you ask people to voluntarily resign in exchange for a more than generous severance you'll have a lot of people take you up on it and you get to avoid all of the legal issues.
Government efficiency = shorter bills that are relevant to ONE TOPIC . Shorter bills, less room for slipping in unrelated crap, more frequent focused voting by Congress/senate. Just a thought
Yup exactly. Low hanging fruit is to get rid of all those special interest carve-outs in legislation. But neither party will agree to that.

My favorite thing that the USA left in afghanistan, pallets of hundred dollar bills, like 10 of them just hundred dollar bills stacked up to about mid chest height, apparently that wasn't worth taking home either and god only knows why they thought they needed what had to be about a billion in cash on hand for anyway...
it's all soo frustrating, but its the mentality that comes from just asking for money and being given it, they have zero concern about trying to recoup money on losses, its why we have billions of $ worth of planes parked in the fucking desert and spend billons to keep them semi ready to return to service... its sooo dumb...

Yeah, because Argentina has great and healthy economics 😅😅
These replies are misinformed or intentionally misleading and dishonest. Monthly inflation was 25% when Milei took office. He got it under 3% in less than a year. Argentina’s economy has been on a downward spiral for decades under Peronist rule. That’s why the people decided to try something different and elected Milei, an Austrian School economist who has taught economics at universities for 20 years. Despite an entrenched and uncooperative legislature, who tries to block most of his policies, he has managed to reverse the economic situation in less than a year in office. Even ideologically opposed media outlets admit that, so don’t lie.
the goverment not just doesnt have the problem that it doesnt care about spending but usually the departments try to spend as much as possible to get the same amount or more money next year
So true. I worked for my city's housing authority. If we actually made a profit, we'd see less funding from then on. Supposed to run sub par
Fixing this issue would go a LONG way.
it was like that even in college, you got a certain amount of funds for your club from the school, if you didn't use it, next year your funding was cut, so you basically ended up using it all unnecessarily. It was only a few thousand dollars so microscopic level of spending compared to the government.
Spending isn’t the problem. Printing money is the problem. Spending = investing. Printing = inflation.
Excellent idea.

Why do we have a federal school board, state school boards, and almost every school district within each state has a school board. It obviously doesn't help the quality of education. Federal law enforcement, FBI, ATF, Home land Security, Secret Service, Border Patrol, US Marshall's, ICE, US Park Police, Fish and Game, and many more
Can some be combined? And we also have State, county, city and town police departments. The government needs to run more like a private sector business.

Government does have competition. They’re called other governments!
They all have Central Banks with printing presses. That puts them above the consequences of their actions while enslaving the private sector.
Weird that in times of war, all those regulations are pushed aside.
But in times of peace, they create more rules.
Why? So ironic
