Thanks a lot🎉 for the experience
I hope that it was useful for you.
You would think that when you spent almost $50K on a bike, it would come with a metal manifold.
I agree. Harley being Cheap in manufacturing.
I paid cash for a 2023 soft tail standard and was shocked that they would put a plastic intake on an air cooled motor, so I told the dealer keep her until you put an Aluminum intake manifold on before I leave the dealer floor.
I just installed S&S intake manifold. DK Customs EBS and outlaw 828 air filter assembly! Tuned and performance mufflers! Sounds great runs great
That's awesome. To me that's the best way to go.
$200 part for 10 hp equals $20 per hp, not $2.😂 Still a good deal
Math is not a strong point on the fly.
Buddy why wouldn’t you put new seals on the intake they cost 1.29 for both. The intake seals has bin crushed and heated. They are no longer any good. It’s a no brainer
Because that bike did not have many miles and was not that old.
Thanks for posting this, I'm looking forward to changing out mine on my 2019 Sport Glide. Can't believe HD would stoop to using a plastic intake manifold. I don't care what the "industry standard" is. Shame on Harley for cheeping out (again). 😠
Thank you for watching and your input. Yeah, there is more plastic. The anti rotation cuffs for the lifters are plastic as well. I am also happy that you received some value put of my videos.
I’m waiting for my to come in the mail I can’t wait to install
Nice. Easy install.
Enjoyed your Video. However, Should I use loctite on the intake flange screws, and should you lubricate the O-rings on the intake flange and injector O-rings? Perhaps a little Assembly lube for lubricant. I was Taught to always lubricate or rings. Your opinion please.
No locktight and if your gonna lube up the seals. Use gas. As oil would cause them to fail.
GREAT Job: like DK Custom backplate w external breathers...Question my bitchin plastic throttle body (2015 flhr TBW 50mm) is crapping out . Is there a SE TBW that I can use and not have to change my injectors. Note: 103 HO with VH Power Duals and Tab 4.5 zombies FP3( planning T-Max) in process of installing cams Star Racing 577s S&S lifters FuelMoto pushrods new bearings right and Fueling dual tensioners Tensioners are my paranoia which started me down this path
There is an SE Throttle body available. However, I recommend the HPI Throttle Body.
thank you appreciate your recommendation.@@DrHarley
Great easy to follow video, thanks Brother! New Subscriber!
Welcome and I hope that you enjoy all my content..
i have the Arlen Ness inverted air cleaner with a closed loop system however i would like to change the air cleaner to an open loop system because the intake and throttle body gets really dirty from the oil mist of the motor but since i paid so much money for the one i have ($595) i guess i'll wait till i sell mine then buy one!
That's always the catch. There are ways to make your current one open loop. With drilling, taps, hose fittings, and hose.
Look at DK customs @robertthale779
Black Anodized 15-Spoke Inverted Series is what i bought but have not installed, waiting on exhaust and thundermax tuner to get here, just bought a 22 road glide st
Sounds like a fun build.
I like Ram Air intakes. I believe the engine and air, "talk to each other" better..more precise. Maybe do a vid on a 96" twin-cam !?
I would love to do on with a 96 twin cam. However, I don't have one to work on in the shop. However when I do, there will be a video.
I want to do this on both my bikes. 2017 SGS stage 2 with reaper 465 cam and 21 RKS full stage 1 jackpot header and TAB 4.5. Both bikes run good and are fun, but that plastic intake just doesn't make me feel I'm getting all the ponies. Plus longevity is big thing. I love the round profile AC, might swap the RKS ac to S&S.
IMO, the oem manifold could fail at some point because they are plastic. Also, with the internal finish on the part itself, crests turbulence that robs power from you. Not that hard to do. And it does not cost alot of money.
@@DrHarley I'm running PV on both so could autotune fairly easily.
Oh, absolutely, it will autovtune with no issue.
The intake Allen’s on the flanges are they metric or standard .. I’m ordering the long allen key ball sockets.. great video about the intake gaskets .. 👍👍👍
They are Standard.
@@DrHarleysize? Wondering about size of these and also the 8 bolts that hold the two lifter blocks down onto the crankcase.
@scottanderson1941 that s 55mm intake manifold. The 8 both that are down the lifter blocks are 3/16.
Hey you carry around a second camera, why don't we see the footage?
I have recruited the wife to help filming when she can. Also this was an early video and I believe that I have gotten better with getting the footage..
Do you need to retune after the install? bike is already tuned with a stage 2
You should do a retune, As you just changed the air flow, However its not that critical. But you will get the most out of a retune, What tuner are you using? Do you have the option to Auto Tune? If you do, Auto tune and enjoy.
So, you called the sensor on the manifold an Air Temp sensor and a few minutes later you called it a Mass Airflow sensor. Do you know how HD’s fuel injection system works?
Jim, Thank you for the clarification, Yes I do and I miss spoke when I said the Air temp sensor. I am human and make mistakes at time and Yes its the mass air flow sensor. My Apologies for not using my words correctly.
Calm Down. Post your video and allow us to see what perfection looks like with your lens.
Thank you for your advice. When I posted this, I was still new within a year of my UA-cam career.
Just hit sub button.. 👍
Thank you and welcome.
This must be a sketchy procedure because nobody starts up the bike and run it after swapping the intake, probably doesn't start until the tow it to Harley shop.
I have watched 4 different videos and nobody starts bike right after they're done with manifold. 🤔😮😮🫣
It started right up. Set his tuner to auto tune and it runs great.
