- Servus my motorbike friends, today we are going to install heated grips on Steven's M8 Softail Heritage

Excellent job and I believe you are the first to do a detailed heated grip install on M8 softails.
Thank You Rolland, I think so either. So fellow riders were already asking, so I was happy when Steven decided to upgrade.
I just finished installing my heated grips on my fat boy 2 days ago. I just wanted to say this video has been the absolute best resource for learning how to do it.
Vielen Dank.
😇sehr gerne, thanks for the feedback
It’s wonderful. The manual doesn’t say any details like this. Thanks, I can try to install mine.
Enjoy the install and enjoy the warm hands!
Great video Brother. Thank you and it was nice the install was in Both language’s. It’s good to brush up
You’re welcome! Definitely, my English has improved as well since the first appearance in Matt’s video😉
You are definitely right, your part number is correct! The one the manual specified is wrong. Should have listed to you!
😇👍🏻
Great job brother!! I just bought some Kahuna grips for Angel. They aren’t heated so the process will be much easier. I will be referring to this video for the install. I wasn’t aware the grip on the left had to be cut off. Of course I will be installing the Rattlekiller as well. 👍🏾
Angel will love the Kahunas, did you get the heated or the regular ones?
English and German both! Danke! That is awesome. Parts desk sold me the wrong kit, glad you have the right kit for us to know how to install these properly.
Gern geschehen/You’re welcome😉
@@stefansgarage3014 Question since im about to do this install and im not sure that I understand. Is the throttle grip connector that you plugged in, is that the wire from the left side heated grip? I want to solder the connection harness before I go install it so I dont have to solder outside.
The left grip has 2 wires, one of them plugs into the Y Harness? and the other plugs into to the throttle grip plug that's already on the bike?
@@FranBunnyFFXII Exactly, the throttle grip wire is already preinstalled at the bike. One Cable from the left grip is for the power supply for the heated grips and the other one is for the connection of the (preinstalled) right hand grip with the left hand.
@@stefansgarage3014 Danke! So, I can solder the kit inside before taking everything out to the bike to install things.
That makes things a lot easier.
I wish the harley grips instructions told you what each cable end was for.
It would have been so easy to label it "Throttle Grip Power" and "Clutch Grip Power".
I was very confused as to where that plug that plugged into the bike harness came from, but now i know it's one of the 2 wires that you fed through from the left grip itself.
That makes things so much easier to understand.
Very helpful video thanks. I used two bits of thin MIG wire to thread the cables through the handlebars one at a time. Now trying to get the bunch of connectors out of the frame to locate the throttle connector.
You will find it, Happy Install
LOL
I had those exact ones installed on my 21 Road Glide when i have new bars installed ... Also after you did that Wilber's Suspension Install video with Robert Simmons - Paying It Forward, i just bought a set for the Road Glide ....
Good choice! You will love to ride the Glide much more. Will you do the install? It's important to use the right oil level (110mm) and orientation of the fork springs, as well as the 20mm (3/4in) rear sag adjustment. Give your tech a special briefing, only a few in the US have installed a Wilbers yet.
@@stefansgarage3014 yes, myself and my friend who is a mechanic will be doing them in his shop . He's watch both Richard's video and yours for the 21 road glide
@@dassolo Perfect, you will love it. I remember my first Wilbers test ride after having it installed on my friends 2013 Road King-I couldn’t believe it
@@stefansgarage3014 Can't wait ...
Geniales Video. 😊👍👌
Die Heizgriffe sehen super aus.
Vielen Dank 👍🏻
Keep those hands warm Stefan!🤗
I will Anita, hope to see you both soon
Perfect work instruction and video.
oder wie man in Bayern sagt: bast
Merce!😉
Great install video. Recommend to use painted parts protection to avoid accidental damage from falling parts 😉
Ride safe 🤙
Luckily we didn’t drop anything in this high risk operation, but you’re definitely right
Well done mate 👍🏻
Thanks Mike, appreciate your feedback 👍🏻
Super Erklärung!
Sehr gerne, danke.
Great video!!!
Could you tell us what kind of tape you paste on throttle side? 18:16
Is it attached in the heated grip kit or you bought it ?
No it is not included in the set, it’s an aftermarket Rattlekiller. I sell a set of 2 (1 spare) for 22€.
Stefan, is it possible to access the electrical box under the tank without completely removing the tank? Possibly shifting it back or propping it up?
According to the install instructions you have to and I think there’s no way to avoid it.
Regarding the wiring - I am looking at the same issue on my 2023 softail with the 69201750 harness not matching the connection coming from the grip. When you splice the wires, how do you know which wires to splice? Is it as simple as black to black and then the remaining are just spliced (I could not find anything about which color to which color). Also the instructions with the grip pretty clearly imply that this should just connect, so if I get to the point of needing to splice have I got the wrong part? Very confusing as the instructions are difficult to follow. thanks
At 33:00 it is shown, I just didn’t translate rot auf rot und schwarz auf schwarz (red to red and black to black)
Thanks for the quick reply! I also stopped in at my local HD shop and was given the same advice - amazing that I pay $35 for this and still have to splice. Appreciate your very detailed video@@stefansgarage3014
Super Video, vielen Dank!
Besten Dank!
Vielen Dank. Die Teilenummer ist 69201750, wie bei 2:10 im Video gezeigt ;-) .
where did you get the adhesive for the throttle grip. so it doesnt wiggle.
It is my own product, send me an email info@stefans-garage.com
hi, can you please tell me part number of that external wire harness that goes in to box??
I don’t have it written down, but it’s mentioned and shown (the number) in the video…
wrong harness? is that why you had to solder the wires?
No, as I explained, Harley has the wrong partnumber in the install introductions.
@@stefansgarage3014 thanks for your time . I'm assuming the right part is the 69201599A that I'm just reading about.
Do you have the part # for that harness?
It’s shown in the video, I didn’t write it down
@@stefansgarage3014 we found it harley gave us the wrong one. great video, only one I have found with the harness detail
@@RoadGlideAndy After 2 minutes, I’m showing the bag with the part number in the video
