Ten years ago this Thursday Doctor Who made a triumphant return to television. Here's a little (or not so little) throwback to those brilliant 10 years! Allons-y!
I remember the day when I was four years old, and me and my brother where playing in the kitchen. My dad came up to us and told us about this programme starting in 5 minutes. He said he watched it as a child. So we watched it, and 10 years later I'm still obsessed with it. I've even got into the old episodes as well.
When i first started watching at 5 years old, i didn't understand it and so i didn't like it, but then i started watching it again a couple of years and i became so obsessed with it that i decided to start from the very first doctor, Lets just say i am now an expert at this show, ask me any questions u want.
"You were abbsolutely fantastic...and you know what? So was I." I cried when I first watched this scene. Regenerations are the definition of bitterweet.
When I clicked on this video I was like "43 minutes?! Ain't nobody got time for that!" and before I realized it, it was over and I was like "That's it? Only 43 minutes?! I want more!" :D Great job
Yes it was very, very emotional when 10 lost Rose. But quite frankly, 11's regeneration was THEE MOST emotional. 10 got CLOSURE with ALL of his companions. Amy and Rory were RIPPED AWAY from 11. So seeing her come back, even for that very brief moment, completely obliterated my heart. It still does. Every time.
I started watching Doctor Who on Netflix in 2014 and fell in love with it. Even though my favorite doctor is now gone, I enjoy it thoroughly. Thanks for making this Tardis Archives.

And you know what? So was I!" Meant that Billie Piper (Rose) did great as her role, and so did Christopher. David Tennant - "I don't want to go!" Meant that he really loved his role and he didn't want to leave, but he had to. Matt Smith - "I'll never forget when the Doctor was me." Meant that he really loved his role, as did David, and he would never forget when he played his role. To be continued as Doctor Who develops.
+Asif Iqbal They were scripted, they had to take multiple takes of it even, with each one having more emotion. They had 4 takes but they chose the 3rd one, because it showed that he didn't want to go, but wasn't gonna break down. Which is what the 4th take showed, him nearly breaking down.
I watched this channel all the time back when I first got into doctor who around the 50th anniversary, I've never understood why they decided to remove all of their content after they left.

But i wish matt smith's outings were as good as peter's , Series 8 Was alright and introduced him I think Series 9 is were i really started to like capuldi , the series 9 episodes were REALLY good and while 9 , 10 & 11 have nostalgia to back them up i just love capuldi much more and again the series 9 episodes were amazing , it was like a diffrent adventurre every week
This show has been a major part of my life for over 12 years and I love it even more now than I did then. I'm forever grateful for Russell, Christopher and Billie for reviving this fantastic show!!
Well, technically he was only tortured for 1-2 days. Every time he plugged himself into the machine to die and give it power, that version of him died, and another one of his past was reloaded and spawned. So each doctor only have 1-2 days worth of experience. From his perspective, it took him 1-2 days to escape, though he knows that his plan would have taken billions of years. So he probably has psychological damage from the knowledge part of him was imprisoned for so long, but in reality, he only has a few days memory. On that note, just realized, that also means he went home the short way around :P.
Goat Bubbles Oh her suffering was immense too. Her speech in the finale about them being monsters sent me the same chills from the speech from Zygone Invasion and Rings of Akhaten
No. He says that he always remembers as he reaches the wall, and that he wants to stop, and just lose for once. He remembers those 4.5, 000, 000, 000 years very clearly.
I've been watching doctor who since i was 7 years old (now i'm 17 :O) and I fell in love with it straight away when i watched the first episode. I just love everything about it, the actors are amazing, the stories are great, the music is superb and this show just makes me so happy. It is a massive part of my life and I'm so glad it did come back :D I also love all the spin offs too, I loved sarah jane adventures and I suppose i grew up watching that as well. I watched torchwood a couple of years ago and I'm completely in love with that too. I don't think I will ever get sick of it, no matter the doctor or the companion. The essence of it is just wonderful, the friendship, the love, the teamwork, the danger, it's amazing :D It is a HUGE part of my life and I'm so glad of that :)
Me i'm very scared and sad. I just started the saison 5, and after 3 ep i think i can't continue.. David is my doctor and he's gone, just like rose, and it makes it really hard to move on. I love Doctor Who and i want it to continue.. But i guess im like Rose, once that man showed me his magic world, i can't live ( for me it's watch the show) without him. I'm sad
This sent me on such a nostalgia trip, i remember all those bbc news clips from when i was about 7 onwards, this really brought me back to a time where i would run around the playground and pretend to be a dalek.

The only times I ever got emotional watching Doctor Who were in The Angels Take Manhattan and The Husbands of River Song. (Amy & Rory's death, and the scene at the singing towers)

regrettably, I was under a rock....I didn't watch Doctor Who until 3 years ago(due to it's never having been aired on TV where I grew up....I grew up watching Star Trek...another excellent science fiction show, but not nearly as good as Doctor Who). I began with the Modern Doctor Who and Christopher Eccleston, who was my first Doctor. He hooked and made a fan out of me, and I've loved the show ever since.

Les Im a fan of Star Trek but used to watch Doctor Who when I was kid and only thought it was ok-ish and didn't really get it back then. When I saw the reboot, it all clicked and I too now think its the best sci fi ever. Its daft, silly , funny , great and amazing all rolled into one. The concept is genius. Love it.

What I mean is that after Tom Baker, from Colin onwards, Doctor Who went into a downwards spiral in storylines and popularity. The Peter Capaldi season has been quite poor IMHO compared to the Chris, David and Matt.

This show is just so insane and fantastic. I don't think there's ever been a moment where it's ever seemed logical. But maybe that's why I love it *so much*. Doctor Who has so much to teach and to offer and to inspire in all of us. I hope one day everyone appreciates for the masterpiece it is.

I remember reading one of the newly published Doctor Who novels in 2004 and there was an end note with the writer stating: "Looking forward to the series in 2005!" I thought to myself, "What?" So I scrambled to learn all I could about the new show which wasn't much. Even more, I had to go out of my way to get a region free machine to see the new Doctor Who shows on DVD. The very, very first episode I've seen of Doctor Who goes way back to 1982 when "Pyramids of Mars" ran on PBS one Sunday afternoon. I remained hooked on the horror themes and the scarf wielding Time-Lord. Tom Baker remains my favorite, but I've always followed the series to this day.
"Rose Tyler; you were fantastic, absolutely fantasit. But, you know what? So was I." "No, I don't want to go" "I'll always remember when the doctor was me." Each of these still give me goosebumps, and I was sad when david left, but matt made me laugh. Chris is one of those guys you wish didn't leave, but enjoy just seeing it makes everything more amazing.
Loved every minute of it: the old run, he "new" (10 years on, now), and your rewind, too. Fantastic job! Here in the States, I'd geek out as a kid, watching slightly old reruns of the 4th Doctor via our PBS (Public Broadcasting Service). That's where it returned, until BBC America came along and rudely snactched it up. Ah, well, guess it's where it belongs. Can't wait to see what's next!
Brilliant video! It reminds me of how fantastic Chris was, how fun and great David's years were, how amazing Matt was, and how superb Peter is! I don`t know why I am the only one who`s favorite doctor is Matt Smith and David Tennant everyone says David Tennant in my opinion they were both very good and among the best of the Doctors but argue with a Tennant fan watch they always shit on on all the other doctors for no reason.
YacobMan7 Agreed, 11 is my Doctor, but I love them all. you can't just say I'm a big Tennant or Smith fan and be a true Who fan. True Who fans love the whole show, not just one particular Doctor.
My Favorite Doctor is David Tennant but that doesn't make me not love Matt, Chris and Peter. But I do think that people who skip nine is not true whovians.

I remember my first ever Doctor Who episode. It was Stolen Earth with David Tennant with the darleks. After watching it I had had nightmares for ages since I was only about 6-8 years old. However that hasn't at all put me off watching it nowadays. I'm 15 now and I am loving Peter Capaldi's time as the Doctor and I will definitely miss him when he leaves. 💙💙

Everything worked here, from the use of interview footage and behind the scenes bit to the editing of the various clips together to the right pieces of music blended with the audio so neither overpowered each other. A wonderful way to celebrate 10 years of Doctor Who triumphant return to our screens and memories. Oh, and I was glued to the TV; loving every single moment of 'Rose'.
Thanks for including the parts with Paul McGann's Eighth Doctor. I'm still hoping that Moffat will do a 'Time Crash'-style bit for Children In Need, where the Eighth Doctor crosses paths with Capaldi's Doctor just prior to his hearing a distress signal from a ship about to crash into the planet Karn!

Till now I have to admit, I totaly was in the "Oh no I dont want him to go! Who is this guy? He is shit! He is awesome! Oh no I dont want him to go cycle... But Matt Smith... Oh boy I hope he is coming back in some way. I realy liked that guy. The new one is to old to identify with, but I have to admit Peter Capaldi does a great job doing the character justice...
This video puts the show into perspective for me. There are quite a few things that I disliked these last few seasons, but the video helped me realize that Doctor Who is so much more than episode by episode or even season by season. It's fifty years of history and culture and love and loss and life. The important thing is that the Doctor lives on.
Christopher Ecclestone was definitely the best Doctor of new Who, he managed to bring the show back and had great dynamic with Billie Piper. I loved series 1, although I didn't watch it when it came out. Having met him numerous times, as my dad (an actor) has worked with him and they became friends. (I know, it's cool) I really wish that he could have stayed for an extra series...
Hey. Unfortunately, they recently took doctor who off of netflix and hulu. But you know the internet, it's always pretty easy to find all the episodes on some website. But once you've gotten there, just start on season 1 episode 1 from 2005. (trust me, you will not need any info from old doctor who)
They removed it completely from Netflix in some areas, and just the first four seasons in others. I reccomend buying series one on Blu-Ray or DVD, or watching it online somewhere, like on Dailymotion. Definitely start with S1E1 of New Who (the episode's name is ''Rose''), unless you want to watch the old series first, but you might dislike it, as you're probably used to the video and audio quality of newer shows. If you want to watch Classic Who first, however, I reccomend you start with season 12.
my fave doctor is still tom baker, i grew up reading the adventure books and went back to watch some of his episodes and was delighted that his character was even better on screen. though, capaldi is quickly becoming a favourite of mine. i like the Hartnell feel he gives off, withought just copying any of the previous incarnations.

The debate about The Doctor. Who is their favourite? Whether it's good to be younger or older? It doesn't matter...the show has lasted for 52 years, people naturally come and go, that is the theme and culture of Doctor Who. There are those who don't support change, they are left behind. Doctor Who walks on and may it walk on for another 50 years. The Time Lord Victorious!

Matt Smith was the bulk of my child hood watching doctor who looking back, i miss him, he really had changed from Series 5 - Series 7B

You mean SERIES 9 ... Season 9 happened with the Third Doctor in 1972 ... This is how the BBC themselves differentiate the programme.

regrettably, I was under a rock....I didn't watch Doctor Who until 3 years ago(due to it's never having been aired on TV where I grew up....I grew up watching Star Trek...another excellent science fiction show, but not nearly as good as Doctor Who). I began with the Modern Doctor Who and Christopher Eccleston, who was my first Doctor. He hooked and made a fan out of me, and I've loved the show ever since.

Les Im a fan of Star Trek but used to watch Doctor Who when I was kid and only thought it was ok-ish and didn't really get it back then. When I saw the reboot, it all clicked and I too now think its the best sci fi ever. Its daft, silly , funny , great and amazing all rolled into one. The concept is genius. Love it.

What I mean is that after Tom Baker, from Colin onwards, Doctor Who went into a downwards spiral in storylines and popularity. The Peter Capaldi season has been quite poor IMHO compared to the Chris, David and Matt.

Lol, sorry. I am home-schooled. I don't see many cute guys. Although at my church event every Thursday, there are two cute guys there I like.......... Shhh, don't tell anyone, lol!
I remember reading one of the newly published Doctor Who novels in 2004 and there was an end note with the writer stating: "Looking forward to the series in 2005!" I thought to myself, "What?" So I scrambled to learn all I could about the new show which wasn't much. Even more, I had to go out of my way to get a region free machine to see the new Doctor Who shows on DVD.
The very, very first episode I've seen of Doctor Who goes way back to 1982 when "Pyramids of Mars" ran on PBS one Sunday afternoon. I remained hooked on the horror themes and the scarf wielding Time-Lord. Tom Baker remains my favorite, but I've always followed the series to this day.
My mum has been watching since the early 70s :)

Each of these still give me goosebumps, and I was sad when david left, but matt made me laugh. Chris is one of those guys you wish didn't leave, but enjoy just seeing it makes everything more amazing.
Loved every minute of it: the old run, he "new" (10 years on, now), and your rewind, too. Fantastic job! Here in the States, I'd geek out as a kid, watching slightly old reruns of the 4th Doctor via our PBS (Public Broadcasting Service). That's where it returned, until BBC America came along and rudely snactched it up. Ah, well, guess it's where it belongs. Can't wait to see what's next!

I don`t know why I am the only one who`s favorite doctor is Matt Smith and David Tennant everyone says David Tennant in my opinion they were both very good and among the best of the Doctors but argue with a Tennant fan watch they always shit on on all the other doctors for no reason.
My favourite is Matt. David was good, but Matt quickly made the role his own.
YacobMan7 Agreed, 11 is my Doctor, but I love them all. you can't just say I'm a big Tennant or Smith fan and be a true Who fan. True Who fans love the whole show, not just one particular Doctor.
My Favorite Doctor is David Tennant but that doesn't make me not love Matt, Chris and Peter.

My point was that I don't understand how anyone would begin to watch new doctor who and skip the first new doctor (nine). That would be like skipping William Hartnell if you watch the classic doctor who.

I remember my first ever Doctor Who episode. It was Stolen Earth with David Tennant with the darleks. After watching it I had had nightmares for ages since I was only about 6-8 years old. However that hasn't at all put me off watching it nowadays. I'm 15 now and I am loving Peter Capaldi's time as the Doctor and I will definitely miss him when he leaves. 💙💙

There was immense build up when doctor who returned in 2005. People were going crazy.
Very well done! Everything worked here, from the use of interview footage and behind the scenes bit to the editing of the various clips together to the right pieces of music blended with the audio so neither overpowered each other. A wonderful way to celebrate 10 years of Doctor Who triumphant return to our screens and memories.
Oh, and I was glued to the TV; loving every single moment of 'Rose'.

There are quite a few things that I disliked these last few seasons, but the video helped me realize that Doctor Who is so much more than episode by episode or even season by season. It's fifty years of history and culture and love and loss and life. The important thing is that the Doctor lives on.

Christopher Ecclestone was definitely the best Doctor of new Who, he managed to bring the show back and had great dynamic with Billie Piper. I loved series 1, although I didn't watch it when it came out. Having met him numerous times, as my dad (an actor) has worked with him and they became friends. (I know, it's cool) I really wish that he could have stayed for an extra series...

Hey. Unfortunately, they recently took doctor who off of netflix and hulu. But you know the internet, it's always pretty easy to find all the episodes on some website. But once you've gotten there, just start on season 1 episode 1 from 2005. (trust me, you will not need any info from old doctor who)
Prepare yourself to cry. And laugh. At the same time maybe.XD

They removed it completely from Netflix in some areas, and just the first four seasons in others. I reccomend buying series one on Blu-Ray or DVD, or watching it online somewhere, like on Dailymotion. Definitely start with S1E1 of New Who (the episode's name is ''Rose''), unless you want to watch the old series first, but you might dislike it, as you're probably used to the video and audio quality of newer shows. If you want to watch Classic Who first, however, I reccomend you start with season 12.
um yes he will need to watch the classic episodes to as a lot of stuff the doctor says now happened in past stories
my fave doctor is still tom baker, i grew up reading the adventure books and went back to watch some of his episodes and was delighted that his character was even better on screen. though, capaldi is quickly becoming a favourite of mine. i like the Hartnell feel he gives off, withought just copying any of the previous incarnations.
