went on a 2000 mile road trip with my 48 last year. Stopping for gas every 100miles was not really an issue. Our group liked stopping for a drink and a cigarette :p
:p
Its always good to stop off for a break every couple of hours. I had an mt10 a few years ago, was lucky to get over 100 miles before filling up and that has a fuel tank of 17 litres. It averaged 30 to the gallon if you were lucky
lol
In 2011 I rode my 2009 Nightster out Old Rte 66. Epic trip.
@@ttmadness34 my bmw s1000r was similar. Full tank i got maybe 130 miles but after riding for awhile i wanted to stop. So it worked out anyways haha
Me too. But adding oil every 25 miles was a real pain. :p
Proud 48 rider from Dubai, the scripture reference before the ride was beautiful
48 is one of the best Harleys ever made looking
They nailed the design and it caught my attention back then
People ride a sports bike with a 4 gallon tank that gets 100 miles range and nobody whines about it…the 48 is a fantastic looking bike that I’d proudly ride and own
The Sportster platform is such an under rated and classic base for any creation that you want it to be.
Lots of beautiful choppers were built on Sportsters. And a '48' would make a nice replacement to my Wide Glide. Not that impressed with it
And no, it’s a throwback to the model 125 Harley made in 1948 which was the first model to have the “peanut tank.” Sportster didn’t exist until 1957.
I was about to comment and say the same thing, but you said it already.. Lol It's usually a good idea for someone making a video to know their facts before speaking, especially when talking about Harleys, because there are a LOT of guys that really know their Harley history. I wonder if he even knows where the peanut tank design came from? Probably not. Or how about the model K and KR? doubt it. Oh well, that's ok, he's a salesman, not a gear head I guess.
He says a lot of inaccurate things in his videos. Par for the course and he’s kind of a douche.
The tank originated on the German 1939 DKW 125.
That 48 is beautiful Sean. First one I've ever seen I never knew Harley made a Sportster like that them fat tires give that bike that low wide stands that looks so cool very aggressive looking and that gas tank is gorgeous! Awesome video Sean.
The range on the 48 was never really an issue for my uncle. He would take it to work everyday and was so used to topping it off on his way home that it never really bothered him. His work was like 35 miles away .
Yeah its not an issue for such trips. Only cross country trips are a pain with constant stops but that makes it more fun imo.
@@delgande I'm actually looking forward to the constant stops when i take my 48 further out. Honestly even in my 2500 promaster cargo van i make stops every like 120 miles.
Is it worth getting a bigger tank? Or does it matter because you probably will want to have breaks anyways
@@scooter2202 some people swap the tanks, other sportster tanks are a direct fit, but I think it ruins the best feature of the 48. Might as well get an Iron 1200 instead then. For me the capacity is not an issue at all, there are plenty of gas stations in my country and I'll need a break anyway.
@@scooter2202 Plan on changing the mirrors if you get a bigger tank.
The 48 looks great. I love the sound, the powerful engine and the exhaust stands out. I love harley-davidson bike especially the 48s. The bike of my dreams but I cannot afford one. I would want one but I cannot afford it. I am grateful that I could enjoy all of the videos about the Sportster 48. Thanks.
Thinking about purchasing a Sportster, but not sure as to iron 1200 or the '48. Which is more comfrontable for someone of 5' 9", 170lbs stature? Driving locally for the most part, but don't want to be restricted. Want to be able to jump on the highway and take a 300 mile road trip.some weekends. Would you choose 1200 iron or '48, or upgrade to a solftail? Why? Also, I'll be ridding solo for the most part, and have only minor issues with gas restrictions. Thank you.
@@randyadams0705 I would want the 48 cos it is a small cruiser, agile, not too heavy, easy to upgrade if you want. No matter what height you are, the 48 makes you look like you belong to it.
One day we will both get one brotha with gods help and our hard work :)
Kevin, I can buy you one. Think about it.
@@artz50 Thanks man.
Absolutely love my 48 . My first Harley and I love every aspect of it. Very underrated and turns heads everywhere I go
I went from a 2003 victory Vegas to a 2017 sportster 48 with drag bars, forward controls, and the screaming eagle air intake with exhaust upgrade. I love it, even on long hauls.
Thank you for this video. It helps validate and remind me why I bought and love my 48.
Haha, I was starting to foam at the mouth ready to protest, but within 20 seconds you mentioned the 883R, which I also have, and everything is now okay- I will enjoy the rest of the vid, happy Christmas all riders of whatever you got! ❤️🎄
You don’t “drive” a motorcycle.
You “ride” a motorcycle
lol I also get cringed when I hear him and other popular US bike vloggers saying "drive" as well.....pedantic I know, but duh its RIDE!!! 😎🤣
@@wayne_3791 honestly first person I’ve heard say ‘drive’ a motorcycle stateside.
When you own a bike shop and drive bikes...omg...
Just like... you ‘ride’ a horse, and you ‘drive’ a stagecoach. So, I’m pretty sure you ride a bike, and drive a car.
IMO You drive a bike. When you're in control you drive. When your not you're along for the ride. You don't really control a horse.
I've never been an H-D fan, although I own a Buell, but I'd like a Forty-Eight.
I’ve been wanting the 48 Special for a few years now. Love your videos, you always talk positive about all bikes. I’ve been riding an 88 Vulcan 750 for years, my first bike. I still love it but I’ve always wanted a nice around town Harley and I think the 48 is it. Thanks again for the video, looks like I need more overtime 😀
I've had a Vulcan 750 in my collection for years, great bike with power to spare.
Get one! You won’t regret it.
I have been a Harley guy since I was 15 years old. I'm currently riding an Ultra Classic, but the Sports her with the Peanut tank has always been my favorite looking H D. It has the best ,barest ass look of any other motorcycle on the planet. I would definitely buy a 48 Sportster if I had the extra money.
I loved absolutely Loved my 1977 XLCH, It gave me such great riding pleasure, the feeling it gave was incredible. I traded it in for 1200 Superglide, I put 87,000 miles on it, and still think how much I loved the Sporty!
Similar... Missed my old Sporty after moving to a Road King
I owned one Sportster, an '80 or '81 XL1000 in Maui and it was a perfect island bike.
loved my forty eight thing moved with just a vance and hines tuner and and a arlen ness monster intake. was on a ride to support my buddies in my old unit and laid her down about less than 3 weeks ago it was totaled out but i gotta say that mother took its licks and still started up after. ride safe yall
I just got one new. First 300 miles down im in love. I just wish every 70 miles i didn't have to put 3 bucks in the tank.
very true! it's alright though, i love with it and people always come up and tell me "nice!" because i customized mine with apes and a few other things.
After an hour on a sporty, im glad to get off and walk a little bit
Harley Davidson has mastered the ability of turning fuel into noise without the side effect of horsepower......AND managed to convince idiots to play dress up and pretend to be tough.
@@stevenmeadows6917 Looks like you need to get laid, negative Nancy
@@ronskelton8742 Why is that? Because I called out just how shitty Harleys are? Sorry, the truth hurts son.
God bless you !! I love 48s ! Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪 👋🏻
Hey, wie wird sich die neue Euro5-Norm auf den "Forty Eight" auswirken?
I had three up until March when I sold my 2001 FLHRCI Road King. I still have a 2002 FLSTC and my baby my 1972 FLH fully restored to factory original except for my leather bags. I am looking for an Evo Road King now but I would buy this Forty Eight Sportser. I have never own a Sportster but that one looks like it would be fun.
How many miles on your Heritage? How many times has the cam chain tensioners been changed? I have an 02 also, just curious.
Just bought one as my first Harley.. absolutely love it!!
Love my Forty-Eight!
I have an 2006 48 H-D Sportster, i bought it because an old Ironhead Sportster was how I got started. When I bought it used from a dealer I only rode it around the block. I thought it looked so cool all low and sleek. I soon learned, why I didn't realize it, that while low looks cool low and with the 18' instead of a 21' front wheel, it also affects handling, curves and cornering specifically. The bike's lean angle wasn't even as good as my Roadking. It's easy to throw foot peg sparks.
i ride a lot but I don't consider myself a very aggressive rider. I put some apehanger, on it, I'm going to keep it, its a fun town bike, but that 2 gl tank only lets me ride 70 miles down the highway before the reserve lite comes on. The Evo sportster motor is a reliable motor. Thats my 2 cents.
Love my 2019 48. People comment on how cool it looks. I’m a pretty skinny dude, 150, I find this bike quite comfortable.
I have one. they're a lot of bike for a Sportster and really fun. You can always carry some extra fuel, not a big deal.
Just bought a 2018 sportster 48 today. Can't wait to ride it soon.
This was my first bike, it's an excellent learner machine. I'd like to have one now to highly modify. They would make a nice hot-rod bike.
Do you have an updated inventory list anywhere.... I'm looking to buy.
Just bought my first bike a few weeks ago a 2021 48 love it ride it every weekend and when I have time during the week. Yeah the tiny tank is annoying but I can’t complain about anything else on the bike
Huge Sportster fan. I have zero interest in what others feel about them.
They are simple, fun, classic style that is timeless. If you have to stop for fuel, no biggie.
i like long rides , for weeks camping and chilling across the uk . im liking this
love the videos. keep it up guys!
I’ve also got a stage 2 48 and love it, not a long cruiser but awesome run around
It certainly is my favorite. Looks awesome. Yes the tiny tank makes it borderline useless for anything but buzzing around town, but it looks awesome.
The Sportster is all about looking bad ass. Its not a good cruiser, but rather for around town. It looks awesome and bad ass. It also gives you that amazing Harley feel, and look. Hot girl catcher.
Sad the website isn't kept up to date so potential customers can get more details on bikes your selling. 🙄
That's my one gripe with dealerships and their online websites
@@italkgory99 I guess they won't update it until the Nikken is sold. 🤣
I figured they haven’t updating it on purpose. PA has been shut down. No need to list bikes that aren’t gonna move.

I wanted this bike every since this dropped . I was finally able to get one this past spring. Its an awesome machine . Lots of fun and easy to ride .
Lately when I check your website’s inventory it only shows a few bikes. Then when you do a video in the warehouse it look full.
I agree.. I had a 48 and it handled great! In fact better than my 2016 1200CX Roadster!
The best Sportster was the XR1200, followed closely be the Roadster. The only two with inverted forks and dual disc brakes.
Seems like whatever he has in his inventory at the time of taping is "the best".🤔
Salesmen
Yap he sounds so delusional
If it did have a 6 speed gear box, it would be worth looking at. Last time i was on a sporter I was looking for that 6 th gear.
I rode a 79 shovel low rider from 1980 till 2014, great old bike, but honestly my absolute favorite Harley has always been a 1200 sportster, im 6’5” and around town ect these quick and nimble bikes are so fun and powerful, I have not riden a 48 but hopefully I will today, i have some health issues and a big cruiser, is just to much for me, but a sportster is just so easy and fun, the torque of the 1200 is a thrill for me, thank you so much for your review my friend and hopefully ill get a nice 1200!
Love the review 👍
Make sure to use de-esser when you're audio-editing the next videos.
I test rode on one yesterday, I absolutely loved it!
Had a 2000 Sportster 1200 for 10 years and loved it!!! Def will get another one! And love the M1 gloves!!
I'm in my early 60's now. Not ready to give up riding. But the heavy cruiser I have is getting to be to much. I'm 6' tall at about 150 lbs. I like the looks of the 48 & I would like to get back to a standard riding up right riding style. Sometimes it's nice or need be, to get up on the tank & ride it hard. Unlike something with forward controls. What do you think. God bless you. Donnie.
I use mine for running back n fourth to work. Keeps the miles low on my cars. Perfect bike for that!
I kept viewing this video cos your Harley is cool. Thanks man.
The 72 with mini apes and the 72 sportster are my favorite Harley's for around the city and the Road King for long rides.
6:58 literally every 0-60 Shawn attemps XD
I ride a 2007 nightster 1200 and I camed it out and put a stage 2 ECU and I love that thing it is such a nice bike
When will spooky nook open, I miss going there. I'm sad, I see it everytime I watch one of your videos.
I bought a 2011 Sportster 48 yesterday with only 811 miles on it. I went from a 2005 Sportster carbureted to the 2011 sportster 48 and its like riding a caddy on the highway.
Great review!
One of my favorite bike out there!
Nice video
Now that Harley announced discontinuation of sportsters due to Euro 5 , do u advise to buy the available ones? Will the value increase in future as it will be remain as classic models after some years.
I am getting a preowned from showroom 2019 - 48 model with 5K mileage for good price
I m concerned about spare parts after some years will original spare parts and/or OEM parts will be available ?
Any inputs are valuable!
Thanks
It’s actually fun an interesting to make frequent stops when you are on a long trip on a motorcycle
Thanks for the awesome positive videos bro. I'm making payments on a 48 and thinking about getting handlebars like the 48 special I'm 6 ft 3 looking for a comfortable position.
Really cool bike. I’ve always liked Sportsters, but yes, the Harley crowd does make fun of them. Doesn’t make sense to me. Like Sean says in the video, there are different bikes for different uses. I’ve never cared for riding more than an hour or two. With that in mind, I have no need for all the bags, fairings, wind shield, etc. Thanks for sharing!
They make fun of them till I leave them in the dust at a red light … 99 sportster 1200 little bit of love ;)
Thanks for the scriptures 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I just bought a 2022 48.
Last year for the Evo.
Great ride !!!
It goes FANTASTIC with my 2016 Road King.
You're right, Bikes are tools. And you need more than one.
I have a 2018 1200 Custom. 2 up seating. 4.5 Gallon Tank. Mid controls, I have a short inseam. Love mine. I get about 200 miles to a tankful. It is a Rare model. As this design was only made in 2018 and 2019. One time I almost popped a Wheelie when shifting into 5th. Looked down at the Speedometer, Said I was at 70. From a standstill.
Great video as always! Love your test rides I'm in Ohio looking to buy my first bike soon any chance you still have any hyosungs or that chinese hawk 250 would love to take a trip to buy one (I can bring pizza or beer as payment if you dont want cash😂)
Yeah! This sporty has style with metallic paint. It still has to go at least 165mi before it's a "wife's bike" if you want to go..pretty much anywhere in a day. City banger for sure.
I have a 2005 XL883 & with V&H pipes looks great. Absolutely use it as a city dweller to get through traffic in Phnom Penh- among all the 125s it stands out & gets compliments all the time. Great little runner as you say for this purpose (15-20 min, short distance) .. eyeballing a Breakout for the next “tool” :)
Just bought an 03 XL883 with V&H pipes. I love it.
Someone at my job have a yellow 1 with black wire rims looks good & the exhaust sounds amazing cause the parking lot is inside the building makes it sound really loud...
ayyy its my bike!! 😍😍😍 I put a 3.5 custom tank from lowbrow on mine
The guys at lowbrow are pretty cool, I've bought parts from them, good products.
Good presentation
I love my 48 special in all black. Fun bike I ride it everyday.
Are you guys going out of business we only have six bikes in inventory?
As a total newbie I was getting the 883 but I think this might be better.
$ame
You forgot the Mid-glide front end and forward controls. Huge differences.
Paugcho makes a 4.2 gallon gas tank that I think would look great on a 48. A mustang seat would make it much better for medium distance rides.
The Paugcho fuel tanks look great and are priced fairly, but buyer beware, they take some finishing work before painting. (Voice of experience)
Awesome video....loved how you added a scripture. God Bless!!!
Great video and an amazing verse i needed to hear. I was set on a different bike was supposed to purchase yesterday something came up i was bummed. Get there today and they took 6k off the 48 to get in my price range. I couldn’t help but think God is amazing the 48 was the bike i wanted. Crazy how God works.
A 2.8 gallon tank! 92 Honda Shadow 1100.
Worst tank, 47 mpg, best was 52 mpg.
In 92, my dad bought a 92 shadow 1100 from the salvage yard on the day it showed up. Swapped the forks and bar, had it painted, and I was a few years away from my teens back then... but in 93 we rode it from fresno, ca to cody, wy. Good times.
Love my 2016 HD48! Great bike!
I have had a 1987 sportster since new took on 48 state tour 4 times love it. Seven sheep skins on the seat more packed up than a bagger prepared for all elements Mother Nature can throw at me . My bike has 800,000 miles been rebuilt 3 times is now a stroker 93 inch machine right still is chain drive I carry 3 extra el cheap o diamond 530 chains and a chain breaker many tools pack n a 9 mm as well I am handicap as well. I been riding all my life Harleys . I am a collector.
Great Video!
one like that for Nighter XL 1200N please
I am currently overseas with the military and I am thinking about finally learning to ride. I was looking at With bike and the Roadster? Any thoughts?
I like HD bike a lot. So, I went to visit a local HD dealership and they wanted to charge me a lot over MSRP. So, I eventually bought a 1/12 scale model and I have become a happy owner now ever since.
Love my 2020 1200 48, but many may outgrow them fairly soon if you do highway trips.
Oh, I'd complain about the tank. Lol. But I'm used to the 4.5g on my 09 Custom. I also ride it 25min to work daily
Wheres your boots are from ?
Great video ofc btw
Used to ride with PITHON'S …these do sound good.
Love the 0 to 60 !!
Hate the “ I could have done better “ !!!
Time to to get better !!!
Would this be a good starter bike for a guy who is 6ft 2in 275. I am a very new rider and wanting to learn more about the bikes that are good to start with.
How is the 48 different from a normal one except gas tank? Is the handling different? What else?
Damn it. I've been aaaallllll set to buy a rebel 1100 and I stumble on the 48
got myself one this week, absolute beast, jakyll and hyde exhaust etc, a real daemon! 😮
Congrats! What year and any future mods? I’m in the market and want to convert to bobber.
2020 model, J&H exhaist, black amd gold paintjob done. the rest is perfect, maybe a sissybar for luggage when out with the brothers, not sure yet

Do Harleys have a lot of problems? I'm thinking if I should get the 48 or the rebel 1100. If someone can give me some advice it would be much appreciated
I drive an 2006 883 XLC- C for Custom. 3.4 gallon tank, forward controls. Solves the 100 mile range thing.
Can you suggest , Harley Davidson 48 or Indian scout 60..Thanks
What's the height of these? Not the seat height, but the top of the handle bar/brake master cylinder? I need a new van bike, but worried about clearance.
I bought a 1979 Honda CB750K for $350. All it needed was a battery. Was it a good deal? It’s fast and I like it.
What do you think of the new sportster 1200 XL custom ?
