It's a laughable thing when a person says someone is "less of a man" because of the bike they ride. That already shows how less of an individual the complainer is. Stay in your lane, and everything will be golden. Live your life, focus on your life, and no one else's.
it gets old
A Sportster is a woman's bike boi!
🤘
@Derek Frampton aKa 1PaPaD1 yeah and I'm mad because I'm a short dude and that's the only bike I fit comfortably on and can reach the ground with both feet 🤣🤣 Mr.Bitter.....
I think a person has to be pretty insecure to make that kind of statement.
They are foolish to think that and to not realize that that says much more
about them than they could imagine.
My first Harley was a 883 sporty.
She got much better with time.
Pulled sleeves, accel pump straight pipes... I'll never forget her.
Neither will the Denver police.
Ha glad you gave them hell.
lol
Over Regulated place Denver is.
Wimbo 9, its where 'Cops' is filmed.
Accel pump ? Also have a 883
I’ve owned an 883 for 15 years! It’s reliable and cool. Yes it’s small. The older I get the more I appreciate a smaller bike. In my humble opinion the 883 is the best looking HD.
And what's not to love about 60 mpg?
Ive got a sporty and an ultra classic I ride my sporty more it’s just a fun bike to ride
I've owned a couple of Sportsters. Here's the thing, Sportster owners tend to think of themselves as Sportster owners, not necessarily Harley owners. You won't find too many Sportster owners with Harley Davidson tats, Jackets, Belt Buckles, etc. Sportster owners tend to like the bike because of the amazing amount of aftermarket parts and mods you can do to them, at least in my opinion.
It's kinda the Honda Civic of the motorcycle industry. They are cheap and easy to modify, and if you mess it up nobody cares.
Douglas Williams I heard that up in New Hampshire there’s lots of Sportsters, although I heard that 35 years ago. Had a 1980 XLH.
I have had multiple sportsters. My first was a 99 883 that I had bored and tuned to 1200. I also overtime have worked on a 2001 1200 that my mother owns. I have owned two 2006 1200L sporties with the larger tank. Don’t complain power if judge all XLs as a 883. I have NEVER had a Sporty that leaks
So many parts and they aren't ridiculously priced either . Not just in the looks department either . So many performance parts now it's crazy
Douglas Williams I agree. I have a 1200 custom and I like the bike itself. I don’t own 1 piece of anything that has a Harley logo on it. Except obviously the one on the bike. I’ll ride any bike that’s fun.basic bikes are the best, I’m not into all the bells and whistles.
I love my 883 Sportster. Years ago, after riding for over 50 years, I went to a trike because my knees got so bad I just couldn't safely ride my big 2-wheeler any more. Recently, I found my Sporty at a garage sale where she'd been sitting under a tarp beside their barn for the last 8 years or so; and I fell in love with her. She needed me.... and I needed her. A few months later and after a lot of work (and $$), now she looks and rides like new. She's light enough that I can ride her even with my really bad knees. She's an absolute blast to ride! Nimble, powerful, sure-footed; you couldn't ask for a better riding bike. OK, I'm 6'3" tall, and weigh 270, and I do kind of "dwarf" the Sporty. And, yes, my buddies sometimes poke fun at me for RIDING such a small bike. Who cares? She's very comfortable for me with the forward controls I added, and the key word is that I'm "RIDING". At least I can still RIDE. I have my trike for when I want to take longer rides or take along my wife. But for running around locally, you can count on seeing me on my little fire-red Sportster. Trikes are just fine; but there's nothing like really being on two wheels. Sportsters are great bikes!!!!!!
Ride what you like. Don’t worry about what others think. If you choose not to ride a sportster bc you think others will make fun, you have some security issues.
Jeff somersby the Bible verse has nothing to do with what he said buddy. It’s good to spread the living word. No problem in showing some scripture
If you're on a Harley you already care what people think of you.
@@GoatyHerps Nope. If you're on Harley you absolutely do NOT care what people think of you.
@@SZrudy - That's like saying people don't buy Mercedes for attention.
@@GoatyHerps every biker niche has their obnoxious stereotypes. Every single one
There's something wrong with you if you think that riding a smaller cc bike makes you "less of a man". The 883 is a perfectly decent bike for urban environments, especially in Europe (and rest of the world) where we can lane split and with a few bits and bobs you can also do some decent touring on it.
A bigger bike doesn't make you more of a rider. Riding when others don't. like that teenage kid that rides his scooter to school come sun, snow or rain, is more of a rider than some riders who put their bikes on the garage at the first sign of rain.
Ivan Jetá big facts
Thank you. I appreciate it.
funny my 790 triumph 2001 will do 120 mph ....stock with carbs with my fat ass on it .have the ticket ..wait at 1/2 the cost .
Harley were never known for speed... Torque? Sure. Speed? Not really...
Very true Iven. I have a Honda at 1300 and a nighthawk 750. I commute one hour each way every day in the 1300, but my nighthawk is much nicer in every day riding. I've been considering a Honda 500 also, just about the perfect size and plenty fast enough. While I'm a Honda nut,I love all bikes and remember people buy bikes for lots of different reasons. Just have fun!!
I've got a bit of preaching for you. No bike is a bad bike. As long as your riding, that's all what matters.
Jason Phillips I agree 100%, owning a HD doesn't give you the keys to the city and I've been riding HD since 1975. Ride what you have and enjoy it. Rubber side down.
Jason Phillips even a Grom
Even a Honda C90. The way I see it is, 4 wheels moves the body, 2 wheels moves the soul. It doesn't matter what you ride or how you ride it, just as long as it makes you smile. That's all what matters.
Jason Phillips there's no feeling like it eh?
Amen!
Imagine caring this much about what other dudes ride. It doesn't get anymore sissy than that.
Hummbra
Fully agreed. I do not believe that 'real rider' or users of many other things are even curious about 'UA-cam verdicts'. Those 'reviews' are propably just cheap buzz for bored kids with a little nick for moto, to argue about in the comments, not for riders. I can hardly imagine changing mind about 'what machine I want' because of... of what, some UA-cam moaning of a random person... ?
If You like a machine and it works, it obviously is... good for You...
@RepolakMoto some harleys have a lot of power and will still spin the back tire just by giving it gas
@RepolakMoto 😂😂
I’ve been riding my Roadster for 3 months now and I love it, it’s my bike ever and I’ve been having more fun than ever. Couldn’t care less for what others say lol
My 1200 sportster custom was my first motorcycle ever. Reliable plenty of power, and a good looking bike. If you’re looking at a sportster get one you won’t regret it.
I know you posted this 3yr ago but - my 4th street bike, and first HD, was a 2005 1200 Custom with the Stage 1 Sceamin Eagle kit. I loved that damn bike and I was coming off of a GSXR 750 that was piped, mapped, and regeared (132.5 rwhp). You'd think I would be let down but nah, that bike had some pull. Currently ride twin cam 103ci (that is possibly my "forever bike") but that Sporty did everything I needed 👍
Most the reasons people hate Sportsters are the same reasons I love them. They're a simple rough no frills bike that feel exactly how I think a bike should. I don't need electronic aids, huge fairings, heated seats, radios, cup holders or any of that unnecessary stuff found on alot of the bikes being put out by manufactures these days. The Evo has proven to be a reliable platform and is probably one of, if not THE simplest motorcycle engine to work on these days. It's also probably has more aftermarket support than 99% of motorcycles on the road and can be made to almost anything you want it to be.
Of course everyone has they're own prefrences when it comes to bikes and that's what makes this life so great. If I had to describe the Sportster in one word I'd say it's 'RAW' & that's exactly what I think a motorcycle should be. It will take you as far as you can go. Your opinion may vary.
Amen!!
MikeRCJ420 sportsters are the best. If you want heated seats and cup holders etc, use your car lol!
MikeRCJ420 My 95 Suzuki VS 800 Intruder has a speedometer and nothing else. A simple carbureted V twin bare bones bike and I love it!!
Unfortunately for the argument, it's not about how easy an engine is to work on. It's about how often it needs to be worked on. Most people buying Harleys or any bikes aren't doing their own work. Dry sump Harleys just have to be ridden and kept clean in a never ending cycle.
Joe danero What about Sportsters leaves you to believe these bikes need more mechanical attention than others? Service intervals are every 5,000 miles and require you to do no more than you would on other bikes. Even the new models with FI and ABS are by no means technically advanced compared to what's being produced in today's motorcycle world and leave little to go wrong that your average guy with minimal tools & a service manual couldn't take care of at home on his day off.
Your right that most people don't maintain there own rides anymore, people in my generation are either to lazy or don't care enough to do these things themselves. Personally if I don't feel comfortable working it myself I probably wouldn't own it. Me & many others enjoy the satisfaction of knowing somethings done and its done right. You can say most Harley riders don't maintain they're own ride, and I can agree to an extent especially the older generation, but I certainly wouldn't say it's most of us. The ancient technology used by HD that so many people seam to complain about is exactly why alot of us are drawn to these bikes. They're simple. And before you ask no I'm far from being a Harley fanboi. In fact the Sportster is the only bike HD currently makes that has any appeal to me.
As far as dry dump bikes needing to be clean and ridden in a never ending cycle I just don't agree with that. I've seen to many being neglected for years that need nothing more than a little going over, new battery, fresh fluids, tires and a little shot of oil in the cylinders and they fire up and are right back on the road again. My current Sportster is my daily transportation. Its ridden fairly hard and sees whatever weather mother nature throws my way. Coming up on 50k with many more miles to go and when it's time for a topend I'll take a weekend to rebuild and be back at it again.
All that being said if I wasn't the type to want to do things myself and depending on Indys and dealers to maintain my ride than I may be on something else. I have no issue with any bikes as long as it's got two wheels it's fine by me. I prefer simplicity but I like & would ride them all.
I gotta be honest man... the clickbaity titles are getting a little hard to deal with. Seems to me youre better than that.
I agree this guy is becoming mcmaster clickbait.
Don't get me wrong I love this channel I love the bikes I love this guy I love the message but he's just better than this click-baiting stuff

Battlescar Gigantica it's not a big deal
I wonder how many sticky notes are just laying in the woods outside that dealership
I have an 883 iron sportster. I've road it for years with no problems. It's great in town and on the highway. Its much more fun to ride than my electra glide
The Sporster is a girls bike, if you're like me - sit on a Sporster and I promise you: YOU'LL ATTRACT ALL THE GIRLS, IT'S A "GIRL'S" BIKE. Can't wait to whip out the HD this summer, loving my college years!
its a bike that gets you laid
Make sure your Sportster has a pillion seat
Nah just the 883 is a girls bike. The 1200 is pretty good if you like a bike with quick acceleration. My 18 iron 1200 gaps my fathers 17 streetglide everytime in a 1/4 mile run.
I owned one of these girls bike in 2004. It was great for around town riding and did 55-60 just fine, but felt very small and very slow on the Freeway trying to hold 70 mph.
Not so, I'm a boy and i love the twelve hundreds, but i ride them all.
I recently bought a brand new iron 883 as my first bike and I love it. The salesman already had me thinking of trading it in for something bigger in a year or so when I got ready but I really don’t think that’s going to happen. I love this bike. Several of my friends came over after I got it and one of them told me, don’t ever get rid of this bike because you will always regret doing it. Said he started on a sporty and has always regretted getting rid of it.
you'll never ride that pos again as soon as you buy a dyna lol
@@johnwiz4460 Bite me. Dynas suck!
I'm buying my dad's sportster now and we are keeping it in the family. It is one of the nicest bikes I've ridden. We have it around 1400ccs now so it scoots pretty good and I keep up with his 1800 Harley just fine. Keep the Sportster and if you get something bigger, teach your kids to ride on it. They'll love it and you know the bike is safe and easy to handle
I found myself at the harley dealer one saturday and was looking hard at the 1200 sportys but because I'm 6'4" the bike just is too small in the frame. I ended up riding a trade in 07 dyna street bob for a good price. Loved the bike, lost it to the repo man as I was dianosed with lung cancer(stage 3) and had to quit my job to enter chemo and radiation treatments. Just couldn't afford the note on disability.. Well, I beat the cancer and fully plan on another harley when I recover enough to get back to making enough money to afford toys again. It really doesn't matter what kind of bike. Guy adked me what kind I was thinking of getting and I told him the kind thats got two wheels and handlebars, LOL.....
I was curious about you as I just saw this comment and not a single other soul responded after 2 years. First off, how are you doing? Second, did you ever get back on a scoot? Thirdly, doesnt it just kick you in the nuts to watch something you enjoy get drug away from you because of this shit we call life?
@@johnwirk yeah I was wondering why there weren't any comments either
Really happy you beat the cancer brother. Hope you are riding what you love now. Enjoy the ride.
I hope you are beating it brother
Hey dude I just saw this and it's 3 years later. I wanted to say congratulations on beating cancer. That is really awesome. I hope you found another bike you love. Keep riding and stay strong.
I am 6'2" and 250 pounds. My 1997 1200xl sportster is comfortable and fast. It can outrun most other bikes. Don't diss the sportster, bro.
Jon Bailey agreed I'm 6'2" 280. It o ly makes sense to short guys when they see tall riders on a 1200
The 1200 is a great bike. Plenty of power in a light package. The 883, nah.
It's a girl bike!
sportsters rule i got a 1994 1200 custom great fast bike
I love my 1200.
Love Sportsters. A blank canvas with endless possibilities.
I just purchased a 1998 Sportster 1200 95th Anniversary edition and absolutely love it. Runs great and I plan to keep it forever.
Watching this owning a sportster...
That’s me
Just bought one 2 days ago and I love it. Its the first motorcycle I buy ever. I bought it with Vance & Hines and it sounds amazing. Before that, I would secretly use my dads 2016 ultra limited touring Harley. And I say secretly cus I would place it exactly where it was when he would come back home lol. I thought I would really feel the drop in cc or out grow it quickly but anctually it feels just great, and i dont think i will outgrow it or get bored of it any time soon.

I ride a 1995 1200 Sportser & have never had one issue with it & I ride it hard. It's a spectacular bike & yes it shakes & vibrates & but it's 491 lbs, 70 lbs lighter than current models, looks great & handles well for a cruiser & I can hang with the big bikes & will never need another bike, just my opinion!
Jim Mansi I love the shaking and vibration
Daniel Ney actually I do too, I've learned to embrace it because it's such a good bike the vibes don't even bother me. I've ridden newer models & yeah they're smooth with fuel injection but they're top heavy & nowhere near as good as the bikes made in the 90's. I'm a Sportser fanatic & do like all of them, I just prefer the older ones
You ride so hard without any issue because you ride from tavern to tavern
Have you owned it since new? Have you put much mileage on it? If you've put 1000 trouble free miles on it, who cares! If you've put 50,000 trouble free miles on it, that's a little different.
How many miles?
This is gonna be my first bike.
good choice :)
Should be a good one
Me too 🤗
was mine, and a good choice
DO NOT GET THE 883 ! 1200 ALL DAY LONG !!!
I love my sporty 48 ..no man should tell another man what to ride
I owned 2 Harleys at the same time, Dyna Low Rider and a Sportster. That Sportster was a lot of fun and great around town. Had an owner of a shop tell me a few weeks ago how Sportsters was the worse idea Harley ever had. I told him that that bad idea has been selling since 1957 and he was an idiot!
A lot of people feel that way. It’s strange

Whaddaya mean Sportsters aren't cool? Bronson rode a Sporty. Bronson was cool. Some folks are just clueless.
I liked how he would straighten out a bent fork after a crash with a rock.

The lights were flashing in the beginning to remind your that motorcycles do in fact have turn signals that you could try to use on occasion.
Good one!
I bought a 1989 Sportster as my first bike, passed my test aged 59... I am 6ft and 80kg so I am in the process of fitting forward controls but rode it for the past few months with mids, it has plenty of grunt. As it is an older model, it has carbs, 4 speed box and chain drive, all of which I prefer. Gonna enjoy this summer cruising about, if by the end of summer the 883 feels too placid (which I doubt) then I'll have the option to upgrade using a 1200 kit over winter - For now...I am adequately happy, performs fine for my needs and only cost me £2k.
I did 95 mph going up and over the Skyway Br. between St.Pete and Badenton FL. The bike rocks!
I’ve had my 2003 883 Sportster for 14 years. Love it. And I’m 6’ 0” and 190 lb.
Hahaha, like any of the heavy ass bikes would ever smoke my 1200 Sporty in the corners or off the line. Literally the quickest, best handling HD there is. Extremely comfortable over 100. I usually don't even realize I am going that fast.
love my sportster in the corners and long curving roads
If you need a big bike to prove how much of a man you are...the bike isnt the problem, you are
Why is it titled why not to buy a hd Sportster? You didn't address the topic at all..
That's just foul. Don't be a troll
Thank you for post this video, after watching your video I ended up hating that motorcycle so much that I ran into HD dealership and bought one.
That’s awesome sportsters are great bikes. What kind did you buy ?
I bought 2019 iron 883, I know is not a powerful Harley, but is so simple, comfortable and handy that is just great.
Sounds like you’re talking in circles. It’s a good bike but it’s not a good bike.
no im just trying to give both sides, if you like this ... then its a good bike, but if this is your goal... then maybe its not for you
Some Harley history for ya. The sportster is the longest production model in the lineup, uninterrupted since 1957. The sportys are pretty much the heart and soul of H-D and to be honest, I’ve seen 883’s smoke the big twins. If it was good enough for Evel Knievel it’s good enough for me.
Evel rode an XR750, not a Sportster
Evel didn't jump a sportster. He used xr750's
It's nice to watch an old video where you aren't hearing about "tank straps, m1 Moto gloves and phone mounts".
I’ve been thinking about getting into riding. I’m taking a basic rider safety course next week and got my eye on a sportster, seems like a good place to start. Just the video I needed thanks!
With a touring seat and Roadking shocks an 883 Sportster is very capable for touring. I even pulled a trailer behind one from PA to TX
Love how you start praying when you take off : ) I used to ride on the road as as a teen, seen too many accidents though , now I stick to big solid cars , but on private property you can't get my off my quad or YZ 450,,, unless its dinner time : )
I've got close to 70k on my Sportster. If you see it for sale, I'm starving and need to feed my family.
I will say, that’s the quietest Harley I’ve ever heard.
I have a ‘15 883N with V&H Competition Racing exhaust. The bike in this video sounds like a sewing machine. Mine sounds like a motorcycle.
I have a 2005 1200 custom. And I bought it brand new. I love it! I’m 5’10” and it’s comfortable to me. And has really good power. Last time I had it dyno tuned. I was around 79 horsepower. I’ve taken on long distances too. No problems, no leaks !! Just ride !!!!
80 years old. I've been riding motorcycles , Hare scrambles, motocross, road trips and commuting during the mid-70's gas crunch. Hondas, Suzukis, CZs , Yamahas , an Ossa Pioneer and a big Husky since 1967.

Prior to HD going public, I remember the small, locally owned HD Dealerships encouraging people to buy a Sportster. The disrespect started when HD went public. It stopped being about the bikes. Today’s Harley Davidson Motor Company is all about the share price.
I ride a 2007 Custom Sportster XL 1200, I've crossed America twice on it. I've added a windshield, sissy bar, larger pegs with stirrups, and paddle for my throttle,..... I've done bun burners on multiple occasions. I love my sporty.
When I started riding, a 350 was a mid-sized bike. A 650 was big, and a Sportster was a big, big bike. "Then Came Bronson" rode a Sportster. I learned to ride on a Huffy. I learned to ride a motorcycle on a Honda 90. Graduated to a Benelli 125 where I learned how to crash. Then to a Yamaha RD-350 that was my everyday ride while stationed at MCAS (H) New River, NC. So to hear a sportster called a beginner bike is kind of funny to me.
My current bike is a Harley Road King.
You got the Mississippi Queen right there.
keep 883 on the airbox - keep it stock looking - 1250 thunderstorm kit 100+ hp LOL
You never said why you should not buy a sportster, instead you made me want to keep my sportster.
I am an older man (soon to turn 67) and not a BIG guy so, I am really happy with my 2013 XL1200CP which I bought brand new in 2013. With the added accessories (running lites, windshield, Mustang saddle, Screamin' Eagle 2 kit, Pony Express saddlebags, Higher pull-back handlebars (NOT ape hangers!) the cafe style bars had me over the tank so, I replaced them with a more touring style bars, Vance & Hines exhaust, Progressive suspension front and rear, and white wall tires) she looks really nice and gets lots of approving nods. Plenty of power for me. Nice to ride and It's a Harley! I don't need 107cu.in. or a super heavy bike. I don't think I will ever sell it. I been riding since I was 19 and this is the biggest bike I have ever owned. LOVE it!

He is not doing a review so to speak.....he is selling it.
My sportster you press the left and right signals at the same time to turn on and off hazards
my 48 you turn them on and off with the engine start switch by pressing up.
As a side note. Older model Sportsters (mines a 94) actually have 4 ways as well. You enable and disable them by pushing in both turn signals at the same time

My son and I just purchased sportsters. His is a 2015 with V&H and stage 1 kit with only 8k miles, mine is a 2016 all stock with only 860 miles. We can't wait to get licensed and start riding around our area. We are new to riding and we think it is super awesome how many after market parts there are to make the bikes ours. Terry Poff, I agree, with my XL1200, tuned, SS filter, and Vance Pipes it is a little peppy. Fast enough to feel good, it is no SoftTail Slim S with the SE110 but I have the handle bars... Dj Gilbert , I wont race a Yam650 because we will have to speed faster than the posted limit. But the cool thing is I have a Harley...😂
Ssg, the cool thing is WE have motorcycles.

Is this a “How NOT to ride a motorcycle” video? If not it should be.
Or how not to DRIVE a bike, as this idiot says.
crewgadjy Lol Drive
7:47 - "Top speed on this bike? I have no idea."
Hmm, do you routinely do top-speed checks on any other bikes? Why is this an issue with Sportsters? Of course it's not a "100 mph bike." It's naked. Would you want to do 100 mph on a Triumph Bonneville? Obviously not. People often talk about how little power the 883 has. It has "sufficient" power for 99.9% of all riding situations. Is a drag racer? No, obviously not. But my Sportster friends and I compare notes - exactly NONE of us have *had* to use full-throttle in our normal riding. Why not? Because we're not boy-racers. If you drove a Dodge Hellcat, how many times would it be necessary to use all that horsepower? Probably never.
I'm 63. I've owned a ton of motorcycles in my life. I'm on my *third* Sportster 883. I love 'em. I think they're great street motorcycles. They're nimble, quick and fun to ride. My current bike (a '96) doesn't leak a drop of oil. If you put my bike side by side with a 2003 (before they changed to the rubber-mounts) you would not be able to tell them apart. Me, I like that kind of continuity of design. I like the fact that there are still parts from a 1957 model that also fit on a 2019 model, or vice-versa. Oh, and mine reliably gets 55-60 mpg. Try that with a 1200. Is it a crime to prefer to drive a Dodge Dart over the Hellcat? Does it make one less of a man? Is our masculinity tied to what we ride or drive?
It seems that everyone wants the Sportster to be something else. And they criticize it because it doesn't accelerate like a ZX-14, handle like a CBR-600, have the suspension travel of a ADV or do long distances like an Electra Glide Ultra Classic. But the Sportster doesn't pretend to any of that. It's just a fun, unassuming little streetbike that's cheap to own and easy to work on. And if you get one with some color and chrome (rather than being all-black), I *GUARANTEE* that your bike will be the center of attention if you roll up somewhere with a group of your friends on those swoopy, lookalike sport-bikes.
I've got a 1200 Sportster with a his and hers seat and I also have a single seat for it (never used it yet) it has forward gear and break controls.. highway bars and a Harley windshield. It was my first Harley (not first motorcycle) and yes you can hit a 100 or 110. BUT you can't cruise at that because you'll be wobbling and shaking all over the place but you can cruise at 80 -- 90 miles an hour. Me and my son went to the Midwest Cycle show which was 500 miles away. He rode my Heritage and I rode the Sportster. The bike was not really intended for a long distance traveling bike...but IT CAN do it. I love the Heritage for that IT'S A BIG DIFFERENCE but that being said I still love the Sportster. Most of the riders, I would say about 80% of them usually just ride around town or their city...and the Sportster is great for that.
I'm getting ready to learn how to ride next month and had the opportunity to sit on a bunch of bikes. I think I'm set on the 883. I come from a background of racing cars and here is what I think. The fact the engine is as "old" as it is, is great to me. It's tried and true. One of the cars I've raced as a 2007 Mini Cooper S and being the beginning of the 2nd generation, they were running new engines with perceived perks but it was all terrible BMW parts and designs. I don't mind not being the fastest thing out there, I just wanna cruise to work, relax and live out a dream I've had since high school.
Sure I could get a Japanese sport bike or something like most people my age but there's something charming about the style of the 883 and similar bikes like the Indian Scout that captivate me.
I like my 1200 custom, and it's built like a tank.
we took a 17 iron 883 on a 1300 mile trip to the outer banks in Oct. 2 up saddlebags Tbags n the will to do it. would do it again tmrw. Rollin 70+ mph... no prob.
Tell Sonny Barger it's a chick's bike;) you have alot to learn Dude. You don't have the cluekey.
Never heard of him. Sorry.
Went to a Sonny Barger book signing a few years back. He said if he had to do it all over again he would ride a Honda ST 1100.
@@jameskrys5286 You are full of it!
No James Krys is correct - read Sonny's book.
@@CatholicCrossBearers Nice Catholic.
Im 6ft,215lb and my xl1200l with fowards and 12" mini apes makes for a pleasure to ride! Oh, its look effing awsome too 🤌
I can't care less what other people say about what I do or don't, that is the mentality of a grown ass man.
I've had a iron, gotta say one of the best bikes I've had.
I had a 2007 sportster 883 and I loved it. Nothing fancy but $4k for a super dependable harley was dope.
I think the Sportster is the oldest and longest running line of Harleys in thier history. There's something said about a product line that continues over half a century
I just picked up a really nice, used, very-low-mileage Sporty Custom 1200. I know that I'll probably be getting a long-ride bike in the not-too-distant future, but I'm thrilled to have my Sporty 1200, for around town and day rides. I rode a super bike crotch rocket for many years. I'm not looking for a 100-mph+ crotch rocket in this bike. I know exactly what I bought, and I'm glad that I did.
Literally just bought an 03 883 for $2300 as my graduation from a scooter.
I'm 6'5 and it felt WAY too small for me, but that's about the frame and the seat height, not the engine. 883cc is plenty of fun so if the bike is comfortable to you I say go for it.
The Nightster 1200 has plenty of power for the freeway don’t let anyone tell you different.
Lane Splitter I know someone with a 250cc Honda and they ride the freeway to work everyday.
Lane Splitter Yeah definitely not recommend with a 150cc but it can be done. I had a Vulcan 750 and I was on the freeway daily with no issues.
I got a sportster 48 1200 and it will do at least 80mph in 4th gear and then 5th gears not even trying
But this is an Iron so....
I ride my 2011 nightster 1200xl on the highway and anywhere else I want.
It has been claimed to do 130mph. I have burried the speedo at 120 and had more to go so I believe it.
Harley should make a off road capable scrambler version of the sportster .They are missing out on the ADV riding segment of the market
bring back the XR750 with a modern twang..
Good idea! But if so, they need to do something about the weight. Way too heavy as it is.
Tim Hall brings back the old days where everyone had a motorcycle, Jeff
That's what the flat track sportsters are
I started on a 2015 883 superlow and I love that bike. I jus upgraded to my husband's 08 Ultra Classic, because he got a new CVO. But I'm keeping my 883, it's an awesome bike
I have a 2000 1200S. It doesn't leak a drop! It'll do more than 100, admittedly not accidentally. It is what it is, I've had it for years and never regretted it. It's an old school design, carbureted, solid mount engine. 11,000 on the clock.
Great starter bike and keep forever bike. Sportsters have the least amount of high mileage reliability issues out of all the Harleys...
I would say the reason a 10 year old Sportster is leaking oil over a dresser is because the 10-year old Sportster is probably a daily driver
I had a Sportster for 15 yrs, all it needed was regular maintenance tires, brakes, oil, plugs and a couple batteries. And the big boys didn't leave me in the dust, only on a long straight stretch of road, but get in the mountains and I was gone or in the city.
99% of my riding was in the city and my XL1200C was a great bike.
PS if you ever see the HD Stunt Team 90% of them ride a Sportster too.
I’ve just bought a 1200 Sporty, ‘14. Had 400 km on it. Started riding when I was 8... 56 now. Love it.
I have an '06 Sportster 1200L. I've ridden it well over 100 mph many times. It has a 4.5 gallon tank, which gives it incredible range. 1200cc is only 140cc less than then 80ci EVO motor that was used in all the EVO powered big touring bikes that weighed hundreds of pounds more than the Sportster.
I trust everything this man says, he's wearing yellow gardening gloves. What more street cred does one need. 😎
A beard? 😆😆
🙆🤦😂😂😂😂
I’m poor and on a fixed budget... disabled and I love the easy ride and low cost of ownership....
Amen 🙏
Sportsters are like the only Harley's I like xD.
Fr
I’ve got a 2003 Hugger 883 I inherited to go with my Softail. Is a wonderful and light around town bike for commuting.
Sportsters are big fun for cutting corners around town. I have an Electraglide, a Roadstar, and 883. I grab it for most of my just running around town riding. Always love hearing from the haters on Harley vids. It's so easy to pick out the guys that have had one compared to the guys who are just parroting the other haters.
Got 2 sportsters a 87 and a 07 and love them
I have an 2009 custom and I love that bike ! I dare someone to make fun of me.
Take it easy Francis.
Owned a sporty for my first big bike, had the xl883c in sunglo red. It was carbd and had vance and hones straight shot pipes on. Absolutely loved it and would still have it if I didn't get hit. Now riding a dyna streetbob which in my opinion feels like a sporty on steroids. They are great bikes and if money allows I'd have another sportster as well as the streetbob.
I got a 2000 1200 custom that's 21 year's old, im the 2nd owner. Has under 13,000 miles, no leaks, no smoking or any problems at all. And she will do well over 100mph and then some, but she has some upgrades and will even give my 650 sportster eater a run for her money
My Iron 883 has almost 11,000 miles on it and she is as sexy as ever. I give two F's what others may think.
Love my Sportster, it's old school.
Yeah, old school, I love mine too. I've had it for over twenty years and will never sell it.
I have a 2018 and I love it.
Hp isnt everything pal. Some people just enjoy the ride not speed
give me arm-straightening torque any day. My 1200 gives me all I want.
I had 2007N 1200 and sorry ended up selling it. Very much recommend checking one out. Thanks for video.
My 2003 100th year anniversary edition still runs great!!!
