I have a theory about this film: this is basically Spielberg‘s midlife crisis film. Peter Pan growing up and becoming an adult is a metaphor for Steven Spielberg maturing as a filmmaker and as a person. Going from blockbuster films like Indiana Jones and Jaws, to more mature works like The Color Purple and Empire of the Sun. The whole film is symbolic of his attempt to keep his childlike sense of wonder while growing up and making more serious films.
Finally, my opinion on this film is validated! Now I can stop feeling so insecure about my opinion all because someone else agrees with me and continue to get unreasonably aggressive whenever someone doesn't!
I'm not sure if this comment is supposed to be genuine or satire. Though tbh, I do agree with James primarily about this movie. I think it has good ideas, but it doesn't all come together in a satisfying way in my opinion.
2:53 Real fact: Spielberg had a hard time with Julia Roberts during the production and he complained that she spent time in a trailer and also had a rough time just being laid off and she literally didn't have the potential to play Tinker Bell of just being smiled and acting like she's being as Tinker Bell instead of the character who supposed to play the actual fairy. She was just here to get her fame until later on winning the Oscar for Erin Brockovich for Best Actress in 2001 Academy Awards so there you go.
I'm wondering if the full ranking video will be dropped on December 18th which is Spielberg's birthday. Anyway, it's a treat to get this segment for a teaser while we're waiting.
I particularly liked the scene where hook goes on about killing himself. That was the ONLY scene I saw of this movie when I was a kid and it freaked me the hell out LMAO I eventually watched the movie in adulthood and thought it was hilarious.
I would assume the Spielberg ranking since he's worked on it for longer and it seems to be not as intensive as the Mario Kart 8 one, but it could go either way
Hey Schaff really love your content! And pretty hilarious segment for the Spielberg ranking. Just a little video criticism if you don’t mind. By around 0:29, I can definitely hear some noise falling down in the background of your voiceover. By this point, I think it would be best if you can focus on bettering your voiceover quality for some of your future videos, in terms of recording through cardiod mode or get a sound shield. And I’m not saying this to roast you, because this is the same type of feedback I was given to me when it came to recording voiceover. Just want to see your video presentation quality to improve, that’s all.
ok this is the first confirmation ive seen anywhere of Schaff saying he doesn't like NC and as someone who used to like NC, hell I FOUND schaff through Doug's damn Shark Tale review YTP edit (Go watch it if you haven't), it's a bit of a relief to hear
Hook in my opinion is the anti-Peter pan. It runs counter to the whimsical themes of both the Disney version and the other versions that came after it. Nostalgia Critic was wrong about it being semi-passable
okay i do want to see Schaff review good movies but i also kiiiiiiind of want to see Schaff hate on some of Spielbergs ehem. Lesser catalog. (Ready Player One is a personal dislike of mine but i will admit a big part of that comes from my bias against Ernst Cline as an author so we shall see)
He gave Always and 1941 a 2/10 He gave Ready Player One, The BFG, The Lost World, and War Horse a 3/10, He gave Lincoln a 4/10. He gave Hook (as seen here) and Kingdom of the Crystal Skull a 5/10, which is the highest* negative rating he gives. Hope that shows what films he’s gonna be hating on. Everything else he gave a 6/10 or above.
The part of this movie is just the corniest and cringiest thing ever is when everyone is like “maybe Captain Hook is evil cause he didn’t have a mom” it’s so cheesy and unbelievably stupid

I'm really liking the way Schaff teases upcoming videos by dropping lil segments of it, like this. Gets me excited everytime.
The Spielberg ranking will come out sometime in December

Not Schaff referring to queen Julia as "the actress."
The way he says Smee kills me. Sounds like he's gonna put him on a bagel!
I’m genuinely curious which video is going to be next: the Spielberg ranking or the Mario Kart 8 ranking?
Me too

When does the full video drop
Soon probably in a couple weeks
Maybe, December 18th (Spielberg's birthday).
Why does Schaff hate Nostalgia Critic tho?
That's what I was wondering

is it gonna be "every spielberg movie ranked" or "every Robbie Williams movie ranked"?
Spielberg
He posted an et review not too long ago on this channel and has said multiple times on Twitter and letterboxd that he is doing Spielberg
