  • In this video, I will demonstrate the proper usage of retinol serum.
    Retinol promotes the growth of new, healthy skin cells and stimulates collagen production, which reduces the visibility of wrinkles and fine lines. It also helps reduce acne breakouts and accelerates the healing process to fade dark spots. Additionally, it enhances skin texture and tone, resulting in a smoother complexion.
    Retinol can make the skin more sensitive to the sun, so it is important to wear sunscreen during the day. Applying it in the morning before heading out and reapplying as needed throughout the day will help protect your skin from harmful UV radiation.

    Hi Melissa❤, thank you for sharing useful videos, it helps me a lot❤❤❤. I need your help. I have a blackheads and I use retinol and BHA2 along with a non-exfoliating cleanser. Retinol evening, BHA morning. Actually, my face is very oily, but after using these, my face gets very dry. Mostly, the areas around my eyes, nose and mouth get dryer. I use Neutrogena HYDRO BOOST moisturizer, it works but not very well, so I wanted to ask you, can you recommend another moisturizer or something for that?🌹

    • @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet
      @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet  11 місяців тому

      I recommend not using these products around your eyes, close to the corners of your nose, and mouth. Also, you may want to use the BHA and Retinol less frequently to allow your skin to recover in between. Make these changes before considering a new moisturizer. Alternatively, you can explore CeraVe Moisturizing Gel or Cetaphil Daily Hydrating Oil-Free Lotion. Regarding your blackheads, depending on their depth in the skin, it's best to extract them using an extraction tool.

    I feel like if I rub the retinol between my hands, most of it gets absorbed into my hands before I can apply it to my face. Can I directly apply 3-4 drops onto my face and massage it in with my hands?

    • @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet
      @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet  Рік тому +4

      Indeed, that could be the case. However, this might indicate that your hands are already dry. Therefore, taking better care of them could also be an option. The product I've shown from The Ordinary does not absorb quickly into the skin. Nonetheless, you could apply the drops directly to your face if that's what you prefer doing. 🙃

    Hi! I have a question. I got a 0.2% retinol serum and I'm 23 years old. My skin has no problem nor wrinkles/fine lines but a little bit smile line is noticeable. Is it safe to use? And can i use under eyes aswell

    • @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet
      @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet  8 місяців тому +1

      Yes, however, I still have to ask: why do you want to use it if you do not have any skin problems and do not embrace your smile lines? I mean, isn't that positive? 🤔😊 Nowadays, people are so obsessed with looking wrinkle-free... I mean, that's not possible unless you get surgery or botox done... Social Media and Skincare Companies create illusions to look wrinkle-free, etc., when in fact they use AI, filters, different lighting, and/or makeup....

      @@ayeshanisar4082 So why did you buy it? Who did you watch to scar you about how we age? Do you use a moisturizer? If yes, I recommend mixing it with your moisturizer (3 drops Retinol with a bean-sized amount of moisturizer) and then apply it to the skin. Also, don't forget to store it in the fridge.

      I read some articles about using retinol before 25, and they said it would be more beneficial. That's what made me buy it. Yes, I use moisturizer, vitamin C, and hyaluronic acid as well. Noted! ✅️ Thanks for the recommendation! 🫰🏻

    which retinol serum do you recommend

    • @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet
      @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet  Рік тому

      For beginners, I recommend starting with a strength of 0.1-0.3%.
      For example, you can refer to the following videos:
      How to use Good Molecules Gentle Retinol Cream: ua-cam.com/video/y3k4POy0290/v-deo.html
      How to use The Ordinary Retinol 0.2% in Squalane: ua-cam.com/video/AbAuQ0o9Y7M/v-deo.html
      How to use Paula’s Choice Clinical 0.3% Retinol + 2% Bakuchiol Treatment: ua-cam.com/video/3yhncKakng4/v-deo.html
      For Retinal, you could use a low strength such as:
      How to use Geek & Gorgeous A Game 0.05% and 0.1% Retinal Serum: ua-cam.com/video/nGxBxp3av-Y/v-deo.html
      There are many different options available, and your choice largely depends on your personal preferences and budget. All the options I mentioned are good in my opinion, but the ultimate choice is yours.

    I think it’s important to mention that retinols and retinoids can cause photosensitivity and cause pigmentation/dark spots.
    Some skin ( especially sensitive ) can benefit the most from retinols/retinoids in the fall & winter but not summer.

    • @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet
      @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet  Рік тому +3

      Indeed, retinols and retinoids can cause photosensitivity, potentially leading to pigmentation or dark spots. It's crucial to apply sunscreen when using these products, regardless of the season. I've also pointed this out towards the end of the video if you've watched the entire short. 😉
      However, it's not entirely accurate to suggest that retinols or retinoids shouldn't be used in the summer. Any skin type, including sensitive skin, can still benefit from these products during the summer, provided appropriate sun protection is used.
      Using retinols or retinoids during the fall and winter can present additional challenges due to the increased dryness and irritation caused by colder weather. In such cases, it may be best to increase moisturization and adjust the potency of the retinol or retinoid being used, regardless of skin type.
      But overall, it will depend on the individual's skin type and lifestyle, and it can vary from person to person.
