Riding my Childhood Town And Biggest Tricks : A Tour Of Where It All Started

- Lots of people think I'm Scottish because I live in Glasgow but my lack of an accent is the biggest clue I'm not. I am actually English and was born and raised in Hebden Bridge in West Yorkshire in Northern England.
Hebden is a beautiful small town hidden away in a steep valley, I was lucky to grow up in such a beautiful place! It also had a nice amount of trials riding available and I spent years riding this town starting from the smallest of walls and eventually finding bigger and bigger stuff to ride.
Today I make a video I've wanted to for years, a trip back through time to show you where it all started, my first achievements and my biggest lines.
Fancy a trials bike yourself? Hit up www.tartybikes.co.uk they have a good selection
I'd love to know what you think.
Thanks for watching

Been watching you now for 3+ years Ali, I live 400 yards from your childhood house. Blown away with the gaps I've just watched. 👍👍
Same here mate. You ride locally? Mtb?
What a stalker
@@diorossorozco9558 bit of a weird thing to say. There's nothing stalker like about his comment.
I can't think of a single other rider who could keep my attention for 30 minutes. I love the old haunt tour, so great to see you easily conquer the old dream spots with such relative ease!
Congrats to 100.000 subs! Very well deserved!
Yes, he deserves a million.
#Clarksontomil. 👌🏻👍🏼👍🏼💥💥💥🙈
This is my local spot too, feels weird watching you ride here
19:05 so friendly how you asked the birds to leave 😂👍🏻
its very very rare that one gets to time travel and relive the fav childhood spots. My spots are almost all gone now, courtesy of urban development. Thank you for bringing us along.
Dude I can’t stop watching your videos you’re absolutely insane bro ! You should a trials video with Sam pilgrim . I know you’re way better at trials then Sam but maybe you can teach him some new tricks . 👍
haha joker
Sam Pilgrim? never heard of her
he already has on a few occasions
Troy Lewis link ?
Look in SAMs and Ali's back catalogues they have ridden together a few times can't think off hand of the name of the park they went but it has a load of trails features ,cable drums and logs etc all set up for trails.
Love a bit of Hebden. Some mega trails round that way too.
lmao, you just reminded me I've not watched Toast for years
24:45 people in the back cheering for that awesome move
For us people who enjoy riding, is awesome to see your skill on display. For the regular folk, they think you're a super human. I love too see people's reaction :D
I always enjoy it when you blow people’s minds out on the street :)
Maaate makes my heart warm this, bloody love Hebden, grew up there, then joined the Army 99-15 then MD'd, used to love coming back home and dropping bag off behind the bar in the Railway and then Seshing on.... Loving seeing Hebden.. Haha absolute leg burner the buttress
Love your vidéos! Nice to see where the legend grew up!
that girls reaction is priceless. Pretty much my reaction when i saw trials the first time.
Congrats on 100k and the plauge I've been watching for like nearly 4 years now you have grown alot
Very rarely comment on UA-cam but thought I'd say I really enjoyed this video and the story. Thanks. 👍
Moved my pelvis out of place done nerve damage and plate damage only 3 weeks after getting back after my knee injury. So your videos will be a massive help once again cheers Ali
Get well soon though, being broken myself I know it does suck a good deal.
Man, you describing your old spots makes me nostalgic af, like, literally, my first big thing was getting over a bench. I still remember doing a back hop on the sitting part, and than side hopping over the higher part... man memories with my 2006 tucana will never die
My favorite video yet!
This brings back memories. One of my dad's ex's lived in Hebden in one of the flats up the road from that Co-op. This was 16 years ago. Good times. Well, apart from the time my older brother stumbled across a "den" along a trail near there and stepped on a plank of wood with a big nail sticking out of it. That wasn't such a good time.
I love seeing you ride skate parks and impressing all the kids, who knows how many future riders you might make!
awsome video Ally good to see you back home
Congrats on the milestone Ali!
Best one in a while!, Reminds me of the older street ride vlogs, would have loved to see a few more tries of that drop gap you said you struggled with. I have got to find more time to go on some street rides agian!
The dude clapping behind when you made the bench gaps on the front wheel 👌
Nice video! And congrats to 100k!
This video was brilliant Ali! Thank you so much for sharing your old ride spots with us.

You must had a good childhood with so many spots😉
This had me feeling your nostalgia
Great content Ali
I thoroughly enjoyed this video, especially the stories. That town is amazingly quaint.
Happy 100K, bro!
Just stumbled across your videos and thought i recognised you, we went to college together! Me you and Nick used to hang out and watch you do some ridiculous tricks at college. glad to see you've kept it up and are doing so well. Good to see you representing good old Hebden too!
Was your mother a primary school teacher at hebden royd?
One of my favourite videos of yours so far. Been watching this chanel for a few years now. Thanks Ali!!
Loved this video! Made me very nostalgic about all the spots me and my mates used to ride in my old home town. Nothing takes me back like an old shin bashing too!! I still bare the scars!!
Superb - great to go back to your roots and achieve things you've only ever dreamt of doing.
One of the best your videos so far! So emotional! Love your style )

Brilliant nostalgia video mate and some sick lines in your home town 👌 👍 👏 😀
Great vid and congrats for 100k!
Hi Ali C, what a wholesome video! Great to see where you grew up and that you were able to fulfil some of your riding goals during this video. You surely blew my mind with some moves, like going over and back on that funny bench (near end of video) and then, front wheel over it all! 💪😼
Thank you for making this video! Happy & safe traveling onwards!
Thanks Ali !! Love it. I only live about 10 miles from my childhood home. I make a few trips a year just to ride my old obstacles that I grew up on. Great vid !!
This is such a great video. The expressions from the public are so entertaining to watch and you come across so well. So does Hebden Bridge cone to think of it!
I appreciated you being honest about your feelings about riding the skate park, despite how competent you are.
Great video Ali, really nice of you show us all where you grew up and your experiences as child growing up.
It’s no wonder your a talented trials rider with all those places to ride on.
Wish I some of your skills🙂
Loving the longer videos! Hell yea! Fantastic riding as always :D
My all time favourite Ali video, sharing where he grew up, reminiscing and smashing things he could only have dreamt of. Proper fee good stuff! 🙂
Super vid of your old town. Keep it coming. 🤘👍
Love it! I ride around the caldervalley most weeks.
Brilliant video mate, from the heart.
What an amazing place to grow up and learn trials.
My extended family is from Hebden and always a place I've felt a connected to through visiting them throughout my life, if not knowing it well myself. I'm just getting into MTB and stumbled across this - really appreciated the commentary and must've been a great experience for you to be able to revisit with all you've learnt. Nice one Ali.
Reminds me of some of your earlier vlogs with you just out riding and chatting. Awesome stuff, more like this please!
Definitely a good 100k video, love the long vids
Congrats on 100K subscribed! With content like this - I am not surprised. LOVE the video from home and all the stories.
A smashing episode Ali.
I remember driving to Tod & seeing you practice at the bottom of your house (where the railway fence has wrecked it), and nearly crashing because I'd never really seen anyone good at trials. Just blew my mind!
I liked the bench on the back wheel, then back again
Great video and skills, congrats!!!
Great riding Ali, cheers man 🍻
Cool stuff waiting for the next video
Ok this is becoming one of my favourite channels I’ll even be taking my Koxx level boss 20” out today
Congrats on 100k!!!
YES ALI!!! Matt n Eddie tongue where brilliant, wasnt that canal gap in Mbuk? trials went boom in 98 and I remember the pashley trials bike with union Jack frontage, which did you like Blue or Ivory? Good times mate I wish I stuck with trials. I started going pubs, had kids n grew up. Good times though looking for drops n sections out from 8am till way past dark. Keep riding Ali
Great video, liked it a lot!
You are so good, its fantastic!
I've watched this video so many times now. It also made me research the Pennine Way, and now I want to hike!
Wow great blog buddy! Love hearing the stories and seeing the lines. Seems like some of them surprised even you. You grew up in a beautiful place.
awesome vid and congrats on thw100k
I'm currently right in the stepest part of my progression and it's such a nice feeling when things were unthinkable a year ago are easy going right now 😅
Trials progression can be slow but it's soo rewarding if it finally works 😊
Great lines ali😊 those will definitely be unthinkable for me for the foreseeable future 😅

My granny used to have a sweet shop there. Great video, it’s such a nice place
It's cool to see where you became a legend good job on your video👍
it was so cool know you better in this video and also amazing how you made hard lines so easyy jajaja
I went to Hebden Bridge a few months ago with my mrs and daughter on our bikes. with the intention of us riding back to Manchester along the canal. The girls couldn't handle it on their bikes and caught the train home at the next station. I made it back in one piece though. Knackered. The canal path was a mess with parts of it closed. Once i got passed Smithy Bridge, it was down hill all the way!
Nice video Ali. See you on your next video
What a beautiful place
Loved that reminds me of when I first started riding 👌 keep up the good work buddy
Congrats on the 100k! You've come up some huge aliSTAIRS in the last year!
Great video Ali.

Really beautiful place, and it looks like 2020 wasn't all bad.
Thank you, Ali!!!) It is so impressive!! You know, i can't ride like you, but I have the same pedal wounds on my feet! And it makes me happy! ..)
As always, amazing! Bonus: Nostalgic moments, so nice ;)

Such a cool name for a bike shop! Blazing Saddles! Mel Brooks would be proud!
ahhh Hebden bommies were great, black peas and parkin with an excellent firework display, them were the day's. Best wishes from NZ, keep up the great work.
