Why is my car battery leaking?

- If the terminals on your car battery look like this, check out this very short video to find out why and what to do. Batteries contain a mixture of sulphuric acid and water and when they leak out, and will corrode any metal parts (like the terminals) they come into contact with. Overtime, this reaction causes a visible powdery-looking substance. Since this substance indicates battery fluid leaking, put on some gloves to avoid contact with you skin. Sometimes, you'll find more corrosion on one terminal than the other...find out why in this short video.
First guy to clearly explain the overcharging / undercharging outcomes. Thanks !
Short video and very informative.
Best info ever. short & straightforward.
I just start seeing that on my positive side and I'll change it asap. Thanks ❕
This happens because the seal around the post is leaking. I always put a bead of silicone around the post where it meets the case best if done when new.
I appreciate your knowledge and willingness to teach this information! I learned so much!!! 💪🏼😂
Thanks, I had buildup on both terminals-cleaned them off, then had to get new battery. Issue now-got it Jan. 31-2022 & yesterday car wouldn't stop-some slight corrosion on both terminals-taking battery back to auto store for another-hopefully works & not something else.
you're welcome and thanks for sharing.
Clean ur earth connections
Ty Sir.... I'm at the mechanic's getting a new battery....wanted to make sure what he said made sense. 👍
Glad to help
my son tought it was candy and he ate the battery acid
Same thing happened to me
Great info! Thanks for putting this together. What would cause a solar gel deep cycle battery to leak or have calcification on the positive terminal?
Thanks. Wife's car wouldn't start while at work, it's corroding on the negative side.
So gotta figure out how to clean it and get a new battery. Yay.
My car battery is leaking from the bottom. I work in another country and I drive my car only when I visit my home country (once a year) and I noticed leaking from the bottom. It is super clean on the top terminals. What could be the reason. No issue while starting car. Battery looks good too.
Would the alternator undercharging a battery cause the negative terminal issue?
Hey ty
I recently on my Honda civic turned off the power saving mode which allowed me to drive the car at a better performance use of air conditioning was a lot better also notice right after that my (+) red cap on battery had some white salty powder on it
I’ll clean this up using proper PPE 😅 and place the car in energy saving mode and see if helps
I maybe will get more time out of it but it’s 3 year old battery already sooo seems normal
Thx again
I just Notice 7 days ago pozitive side corrosion
So it mean my alternator bad ?? Overcharging why and what to do now pls ??
Thank you.
Thanks for that .. some good information.
Good info. 👍
Some regulators (my car) have the voltage reg. built within of the ECU.
If you change the battery and it starts to build up again, what else can you look for?
most likely is the voltage regulator (the part is inside the alternator). To test it: start the engine, let it run. then measure the battery with voltage meter. if the voltage is more than 14.5 volts then most likely the problem is the voltage regulator
Hi, is this issue with the battery if it's overcharging..or is it something with the programming system? Will new battery resolve the issue or will face it again after a few months?
My car tends to stop auto starting after some time, and need to push the car to start it. Please reply..thanks
Ore then likely a parasitic draw not over charging.
Dear sir i have dry batery and acid leakage from negitive terminal what cause of leakage how rectify this leakage
If you just change to a new battery and the corrosion happens again on a new battery then should I be looking at changing the alternator?
Try putting some dialectic grease over it and see if it stops.

Thanks Jeff
Good stuff man thanks
Any time!
Could be due to short trips? I drive on average 3km each way.
Uhhh no lol
It looks like blue cake frosting 😂😂😂😂
lol
Inject it and find out.
@@oilpondsangel1024 😂😂😂😂
can it corrode from loose terminals ? make the battery leak from that?
After cleaning the terminals Ncp2 battery corrosion preventative spray and distilled water
totally, the spray is a great idea.
I paint mine
So i guess its just battery since alternator was replaced probably a year ago. had terminals cleaned then a few days later they were dirty. 05 corolla
battery works its just dirty so I was tryna figure out why
My battery is leaking on the positive side and my car wont even turn on. i had this battery for a month now cause the other one was giving me the same issues
More then likely a bad cell
Check ur alternator with a multi meter.
Could the erosion cause ac to blow out hot air?
My air blows fine just hot air. I just checked the battery and it has blueish corrosion . My air all of a sudden stopped blowing cold air 2 days ago.
My ac starts to blow warm when my coolant gets low just something to check
@@enricorizzo9318 thank you. I'll definitely check
Ive had this issue and today my battery was bubbling
No
Batteries are racist😂😂
