I patch a 12v car battery that is broken and leaking. RTV silicone works well to patch a broken cracked or leaking car battery. I used a piece of polypropolene plastic as an outer shell for the battery patch. This is not a how to, this video is for entertainment, you are responsible for your own safety. Do NOT plastic weld or use a torch to seal a broken leaking 12v battery. Wear the proper eye protection and the gloves if you mess with batteries.

Thank you for the advice, Sir. I have a great battery with not quite as much damage. A great job there. Mine was damaged in the factory but the leak was so slow I never noticed it until months later. Job is in progress now awaiting plastic weld material.

You need to top off the cell(s) as well with distilled or rain water.
my new car battery blew open from the top around from where it was sealed from the factory, anyway I could seal it? acid spills out .
how much of it? does the entire top come off? if it's a new battery it should have a warranty. or was it dropped?
Look out for warranty
please do not get baking soda into the cells! it will render your battery inert.

How is the patch holding up so far? I have the same battery with a nickel sized hole in it.
it's still holding up, I used it yesterday
Is it still working I need to try and do the same thing but on the top corner.
Have good success with hot glue . Clean,heat case with, heat gun ,apply hot glue , re heat with heat gun to level and smooth out any lumps.
