1998 British Grand Prix: Michael Schumacher wins the race while pitting!

.. after getting issued a STOP and GO penalty in the last laps of the 1998 British GP held at Silverstone. This controversial win occured because of wrong enforcement of the regulations by the stewards and some clever thinking from the Ferrari pitbox. This is the reason why the regs have changed and drivers since then must serve their penalties at least 2 laps before the race ends.

hakkinen was first finish line. what would happen schumacher would not come pit? he would lost?so why he win when he come lol. -5 second penalty. last row next race? -10 postition starting line next race? what if hamilton go pit last lap? and go out before rosberg go over finish line. he win without having go finish line or lose?

He would have won the race anyway as there were no grounds for the penalty and it was even rescinded later because of that

Disgusting cheating by Ferrari, propped up by the FIA. This is the main reason nobody really cared when Schumacher retired - he was a vile sportsman and not loved by the paddock and fellow racers.

Disgusting lack of knowledge of so-called Formula One fans, who would otherwise know that Ferrari found a loophole to a penalty thst the FIA Stewards otherwise had no right to give and even rescinded after the race because of their own incompetence

It isn't Ferrari's fault that the stewards let the 25-minute deadline expire for issuing a penalty (and then retroactively impose the wrong one, adding 10 seconds -- wrong because that can only be imposed for a foul within the last 12 laps, while this with 18 to go, although the right one couldn't have been imposed either because they missed the deadline for a stop-and-go penalty). FIA saw this as a screw-up by the stewards, who never officiated again. Ferrari could legally have ignored the penalty altogether and say: the stewards didn't act within 25 minutes (they waited 31 minutes).
