I live in the Philippines, just bought a dragon fruit for $1.25 a pound. I hear that the hotter the season, the sweeter the fruit. For those saying that your money is wasted and they are tasteless, I recommend just tasting these fruits the next time you go on vacation at a hot, tropical country!

Yeah but...you have an unemployment/underemployment rate of almost 30%. Extreme poverty, ostensibly free education yet 1 out of 3 girls never get past a 6th grade education because there are hidden costs and so poor families send the boys. I visited a major Metropolitan area and on the way to the market we stepped over many ... far too many homeless children in cruel conditions that made me truly mad. I spent a lot of time in Colombia (born there) and it reminded me a lot of certain parts of it. A few people with lots of wealth and a few more business class / professional class, and scores of poor who have no real prospects. Sounds like you're one of the lucky ones and sorry for any offense, I just can't get the image of those kids outta my head. It's not just the Philippines, it's most places...sad.

Thanks for the videos, Chef BUCK! Here in southern Japan, I'm paying about 4-5 dollars (US) per dragon fruit. It's the same variety you got - pink skin, white flesh. Super delicious, but only for a special occasion. Most fruit in Japan is crazy expensive compared to America.

Just to be clear, the dragon fruit skin is actually edible. The skin itself really helps smoothen your skin, and you can just make smoothy out of it. It's a really good part of the fruit and not many people know about the skin.

Cactus Jelly was a favorite for me growing up, my grandma would collect cactus prickly pears burn off the stickers, par boil, peel, pressure cook the pear meat then make the best tasting jelly of your life. Each Christmas was one small jar in your stocking, my dad would end up stealing as soon as it went in the fridge!!!!
