I only paid for dragon fruit once...it was $1.50 and a really good size. Large mango size. I’ve always thought that they are fairly bland but very refreshing. Since they’re full of antioxidants, I still eat them but I like a bit of lemon juice squeezed over it.
Living in japan just bought some for $1.50 USD because the non local fruits are very expensive so I’ve decided to switch to local fruits. I’m going to let it ripen hopefully it’s good. Mangoes are $6 each, avocados are usually $2 and up, watermelon usually runs about $20 in japan and $30 in korea. There is a good selection of honey dew melon here.

I visited a major Metropolitan area and on the way to the market we stepped over many ... far too many homeless children in cruel conditions that made me truly mad. I spent a lot of time in Colombia (born there) and it reminded me a lot of certain parts of it. A few people with lots of wealth and a few more business class / professional class, and scores of poor who have no real prospects. Cactus Jelly was a favorite for me growing up, my grandma would collect cactus prickly pears burn off the stickers, par boil, peel, pressure cook the pear meat then make the best tasting jelly of your life. Each Christmas was one small jar in your stocking, my dad would end up stealing as soon as it went in the fridge!!!!
