    I've noticed that hands down, rainbowfish seem to be THE most significant carriers of mycobacteria. I stopped keeping them after several years for that reason. And yes, I have a history in vet med and did confirm the diagnosis with histopathology. Note that Pseudomugils (often called dwarf rainbows but unrelated to the larger species) don't seem to have this issue.

    Garter snakes in New England eat American Toads, Tree Frogs as well as their Tadpoles and Bull Frog tadpoles. Come late april to Mid June you can catch the tadpoles in the wild for fresh food.

    I'm getting a red sides garter snake. Idk if I'm getting 2 of them bc they're adorable.
    They were born the end of this summer 2021 tho, I asked the employee there
    Edit: 😩 I may need to wait another month bc I count wrong of how the items was going to cost, I'll have enough for items & buy the terrarium but not enough for the snake yet.
    But I think it will be the best so the terrarium system has time to set up the remaining time.

    I LOVE THE SETUP!!!!!!! It is so cool. I’m trying out different enclosure types for my boy. But, um... I don’t mean to be rude but you shouldn’t dangle a garter snake like that. He needs his body supported, just like a baby.

  • @ianariyoshi2712
    @ianariyoshi2712 2 місяці тому +1

    Is this the max amount of garters you could have in an enclosure this size? If you added more hiding spots and utilitized more of the height with ledges, could you house more in there same size?

    • @Aquarimax
      @Aquarimax  2 місяці тому

      I think you will find a lot of differing opinions on that. Ledges and more hiding spots would help. You could house nor males than females in an enclosure of this size.

    I have a Californian and a San Fran living together, about to make them bioactive! My Californian is the most defensive snake I have ever had (she musks, strikes and bites EVERY TIME 🤣) She's definitely taming down a little now though. My isopods are reproducing quickly and I don't want to have to move them for a while after this.

      Andrea Castaneda If they are already reproducing, a larger plastic bin (16 quart) is a good size for most species for a good while.

  • @Cgraseck

    Russ, Tilapia and catfish that are farmed can often have mycobacteria. It is probably better to offer wild caught fish, especially since you are already worried about that.
