    Brings back memories. Mom was born and raised in Hawaii so she was best at Asian and Portuguese dishes. We had teriyaki chicken, beef spareribs, Portuguese red bean soup and homemade Hawaiian egg bread. Her recipes were not written down so I am grateful for this one. Thank you!

    This is how I make Chicken Wings, Flo!! Baked at lower temp and basted often. Delish!!

    J. Kenji Lopez-Alt's teriyaki tour of Seattle has got me hankering for this, but I live in the Ohio River Valley; restaurants and takeout can be good, bad, and ugly...also atrociously over-priced and hyped-up by influencers who don't know a kettle from a teacup. Thanks for providing a homemade recipe I can rely on. 🥰

      Legend has it that teriyaki was first made in Hawaii and/or Seattle. Since there are one or two teriyaki places in each strip mall here in Seattle I pick Seattle. 😂

    Great, made it, some corn starch to thicken up the sauce, but the main idea was rice vinegar instead of rice wine sake in my old recipie that I never had at hand. Also with broccoli, carrots and rice.

    I like this more than the bottle sauce. Plus it doesn't have all the extra stuff my body doesn't need. This is fresh tasting and it's delicious over the vegtables. This sauce is one of the few things the kids will eat. Have a great week Flo and Dude. ❤

    Teaspoon of Ginger, and 2 cloves of Garlic... With that Grater, what was the quantity of Finger/Fingernail, that might be the 'Extra'😂? I love Teriyaki Chicken

    Is Rice wine the same thing as rice wine vinegar? Any substitutes?

    • @FloLum
      @FloLum  Місяць тому +1

      It’s not quite the same. But you can sub one for the other. The mirin, however is a sweet rice wine and personally, I would not sub rice vinegar for mirin though.

    Don't know how I will ever see a reply if there is one, but can you bypass adding the sugar for this recipe or really any of yours that call for it. My wife will not eat anything that has added sugar to it. Thanks!

    • @FloLum
      @FloLum  Місяць тому +1

      Teriyaki is a sweet sauce. You can sub honey if you like. I add a small amount of sugar to other recipes because it helps to balance out the flavour. If you omit it, it will be a bit more salty. It does make a difference but feel free to omit it. Hope this helps.
