I own 5 Saturns, one of them being an '04 Ion Redline. Seriously it is such a fun car. I was driving 80mph down mountain roads in Tennessee. You seriously cant beat this car.
Thats insane. I also have an Si, and if this car kept up with me id probably crap myself! I really respect different things, we need more diversity!

The Saturn Ion or Chevy Cobalt are amazing when modded for minimal $ too.

If he can still get one, try the stage 2/3 kit with factory tune for the Ion. An extra 40/60 hp for 2.0L. Try some Bwoody traction bars, reduced the torque steer by 75% on the Ion.

I love my '05 Ion. Put almost 260k on this thing. 5 speed manual. Love that car. The doors always blow everyone's mind haha

Raced a saturn ion redline in my infinity m45, and the saturn kept up very well, my m45 is 4000 pounds though, very slowly I was inch away in every gear but those Ion redline are real sleeper cars.
@@Corvetteking1984- we raced again when he switched to E85 and i was on a E30 tune and he GAPPED ME. Those Saturns react so well on corn 🌽

Keep in mind neither the stock clutch or gm clutch upgrade kit can handle the torque of even the k04 turbo the cobalt tc came with.
Yup iknow ,I have stage 3 clutch and aluminum light weight flywheel for that😎little mf is a monster compared to wat it useto be highly recommend the zzp turbo kit,I went witht he z54, wanted something bigger then a k04

As an owner of both a GSR Integra And a 97 sc2 the Saturn is quicker off the line. But the Integra is better in every other way.. but Saturn's are surprisingly quick
fun fact: the cobalt ss is a coupe, you can get them a sedan (they are harder to find)
I raced a new si in my 2007 Cobalt SS. Intake, long tubes, down pipe, 3in exhaust, tuned. Si had BOV, DP, tune. Passed in 3rd and walked away.
I would definitely like to race the cobalt turbocharged version someday to see how it does lol

Im in phoenix. I have a k24a2 with stock airbox, intake, header, exhaust from Z3. Rev's to 8.2k like stock z3. Would be a great race with the redline!

they call them the fantastic plastic!! Id never put money into that, no aftermarket really and oem parts are super hard to find

100% not true. Total opposite actually. Because GM does so much platform sharing the oem parts are a dime a dozen and easily found at any local auto parts store, and we have crazy after market support from ZZP and OTTP, between those two company’s you can fully build a Ion and Cobalt no problem. 👌🏼
You must not own one parts are easy and cheap to get since it’s basically a cobalt ss just as well as OTTP and ZZP mane turbo kits for these cars. These cars when turbo swap make easily 500 plus. My only complaint is lack of cosmetic mods

Nothing to be hurt about - the same blower thats on the Saturn will power an FA5 into the 11s - If you run a TVS1900 it will go 10s on stock motor. Kids just dont know lol

Lol typical cylinder #3 can be fixed with a aftermarket intake manifold and high pressure fuel pump internals love my mazdaspeed 3 pushing 300hp 350tq factory turbo but also love these quirky odd balls that fly under the car community's radar

I’d say it’s closer to owning an Si, but it’s also a boosted platform so you can get a lot more hp out of mods and a tune. For going fast the redline is better than all of them.
