    I especially appreciate the explanation about your target number of fish from a breeding colony. Now I understand how you select for smart, healthy, well-adjusted fish simply by not trying to raise all the fry. I'll never fret about Swordtails grabbing a few slowpoke fry again! It's both brilliant and beautiful, the way you allow a degree of natural winnowing to keep your strains strong. I guess that's the fruit of good record keeping, that's you've found your way to such balance. Kudos & thanks for sharing.

      As usual, it's an on-going process. I try something, attempt to measure the results, and modify the process as necessary. Good records are an asset.

    There's something about OB Peacocks that I really love. And these particolors are so unique. And the females are more attractive than many other varieties.

      I try to select for some color in the OB females. When we do the Gold OB and Orange OB breeders, I'll show you some females that are often more colorful than their male counterparts.

      Yes, and Kate agreed with her, so that male went to the Orange OB vat. I have to admit he wasn't a good Particolor OB despite me liking him.

    Pains me to admit... I agree with the ladies.

      me too, their male looks much more like what you want.

      At the end, I had to agree too. That fish, while very nice, wasn't a good Particolor OB.

    Would love some greenhouse tours again. Would love the sumps tour again.
    I know its business as usual for you but I appreciate the plants and animals and just seeing how it Alll progresses.

      I picked the name Particolor for some reason. I'm sure it was a good reason at the time.

      I like them because they are so variable, offering plenty of opportunities to create new strains.

    Dont undercut the market tooo much with the shizer agua.
    Stack those racks and don't make enemies.
    If the market absorbs the high price go for it.
    Maybe 20% reduction.

    How long does it take OB Peacocks to color up?

    • @goliadfarms7029
      @goliadfarms7029  Місяць тому

      Our Peacocks grow rapidly, but the males don't color up until starting around four months and aren't fully colored until 5-6 months.
