I wouldn’t actually be surprised in the real world (rolling start) that a mapped RWD 330d would be quicker than the 335d due to having that X-drive weight penalty not to mention more wheel power loss.
Have a 330d BMW touring, four year old, low mileage. Looked at all the graphs and nothing can change the fact that this is diesel car. Do all the tuning you like but nothing like my last car a SAAB Aero 95 with a 2.3 petrol engine full blown turbo and its separate inter cooler .Feel the difference as lightning quick
Personal preference I guess. N57 for me any day as a daily car. We have m57 TT 135D E87 as a track toy, and got to N54s, one as drag car one as track car/wifes daily. Saab - always wanted one for some reason.
@@Jaredscott89 I'm a massive SAAB fan but converted to BMW now they can't be bought new any more. Loved all of my SAABs but now I love my BMWs, just in a different way. Loving the torque of my 330d F31 :)
Get a bigger turbo, turbo-back exhaust and an intercooler on it and it'll do 350-400 HP at the flywheel safely. That's almost M3/M4 performance with a waaay better fuel economy and a much lower price.
Now for the manual cars what type of clutch do you guys put in the car. Stage 1 is up to 700nm and the original clutch states to only handle 450. An organic upgrade does 550 and the sintered one with the rockhard clutch pedal does 700nm. Ofcourse i chose the 700nm one with new dual mass flywheel but oh boy it sucks to drive. Jumping and bumping wen wanting to take off in 1st and second gear... Who else is has problems with the clutch and who can say that he runs stage 2 aprox 400hp with a original clutch and it keeps up ? I would like to know because i'm changing the clutch to a downgrade one. Byebye stage 2 you wont be possible annymore....
Thanks for the video, of course it's tempting to get this extra power but really afraid of damaging quicker motor parts or anything else... Do you have some returns for long term (eg 100000kms after remapping)? Thanks
So far the oldest/highest mileage one - 157000 km with a tune, 6 years driving. Was one of the first cars we did in 2013, with only 10000km on the clock. Bloke does around 1500 on weekdays. Runs full stage 2 set up. The only engine related issue was burst fuel hose due to heat/cracking. I still believe that the key to keeping 99% of the cars running for a very long time is 7000-9000 km oil changes.
@@iCozzh I mean that in, the more mechanical parts, the mores the chance that something is wrong from factory or is generally bound to create more issues. However I haven't seen a lot of ppl with a 2nd failed turbo really.
330d touring is all you need as a daily!
With you on that one.
@@EuroSurgeonNz nothing wrong with a 330d but a 335d remapped is even better.

no
@@autotabletta7361 There's a video of exactly that on UA-cam. Rolling remapped 330D beats a 335D in a drag race.

@@EuroSurgeonNz That and the N57 in these would absolutely blow an Aero 95 away in race.

And twice the fuel consumption. There's a reason people buy diesels over petrol and it's not all about the power/sound.

Remapped 330d Vs stock 335d? Which is faster?
That questions have been driving me insane. The only true comparison will be 2 cars side by side. my money is on 330 on top half of the rev range.
Will I be OK power difference for the clutch
Takes it like a champ, but i usually don't let the car go without doing the trans tune to increase line pressure.
Is it true that 335d engines are more problematic than 330d ones?
Hey. Not that we noticed so far.
I heard the second turbo goes bad on the 335d around 80k+miles
@@iCozzh Well, more mechanical components that spin = more likleyness of mechanical failures lol
@@Gripengamer first turbo is always fine, its always the second that goes bad. Nothing to do with how many parts move

i wanted to see an actual adaptation w/ two turbos and sh** :D
What year is this 330d??
If i remember correctly 2014 ish
@@EuroSurgeonNz how would a 2007 e90 330d handle with a stage 1 tune plus the deletes?
That torgue must be in foot pounds..?
Yup, spot on. 1 FT/LB=1.36 Nm
