I just would like to say thank you, as your recommended setting allowed me to capture great footage of my first son birth just a coulpe days ago. Yes I was in the room while my son was being born, filming with my hero 10 using your recommended settings. I was able to capture great footage of this most amazing moment in our lives (I actually lost my composure a bit when he was completely out and they put him on top of my wife really quick lol), and for that I really really thank you. Please keep doing what you are doing. Cheers brother.

Thank you! So if you’re filming and you walk outside with these same settings will the footage still look good or will you need to change the settings?
I have the GoPro hero 9. I film indoors armwrestling in a well lit garage. Should I film in 2.7k 24 or 1080? I'm really not sure what the best settings are for a quality clear film. I recently did 2.7k at 60 but not sure I liked that.
If you’re able to do 4K 24 this will give you the highest quality footage in low light and you can always export your finished product at 1080p if you want to. I recommend trying the method of 24 fps with the shutter speed set to 48 to see if this works with your lighting.
@@GreatDayForAHike thank you so much for the reply! I was doing 60fps because I figured I needed higher since we are moving fast when armwrestling but I will give your suggestion a try. I really appreciate it.
Any advice for using gopro in a large museum with very harsh lighting and allot of reflections. Some areas are very bright and some are dark. Should I use a filter?
Great question. I don’t necessarily think a filter will help with this type of lighting. Shooting in flat for the color profile and low for the sharpness will be two keys with this type of environment. This will give you more flexibility when editing to bring out the details you want to.
I have a go pro 13. I have LED overhead lights in my shop but flicker on camera. Trying to fix. Should I use these settings in the video? I also run outside and back in. Would the settings still be okay for outdoor
Would these settings work on a GoPro 12? I am new to GoPro and just got a 12 black for my birthday. I’m planning on doing a lot of vlogging with it, mostly in decent light but I would like to shoot inside sometimes and hoping these settings apply. Thanks!
Yes, these should do well on the Hero 12 Black. I also recommend checking out this video if you’ll be in low lighting for tips to avoid jitter and ghosting: ua-cam.com/video/e5Sx3s94syw/v-deo.htmlsi=7KFPZLAXheZZQMq5 This video may also be helpful for the Hero 12: ua-cam.com/video/_gUKzdUWJ6Y/v-deo.htmlsi=gp5OcoraVWiwRnNu
Hey man thanks for the video, What if you are filming outdoors then suddenly you are indoors with no time to change mode? Is there a way you can have it change automatically or quickly?
So... probably not exactly what you had in mind here.. But I have an older Macbook Air that doesn't support 4K HEVC compressed video very well (jittery). So I made the change in the hero to H.264 + HEV.. which allows me to shoot in 4K 30 and directly usb import into my macbook. I don't know if you know this. and this is very interesting.. But I can get around the problematic HEVC problems with my macbook by first importing it into my ipad.. and then airdropping to my macbook. I think somewhere in that process in converts it into H.264.. but not sure where.. It's just an extra step that i'd prefer not to have to take. Oh.. and I followed the rest of yoiur advice on the low light settings.. Thanks much !!! Really like yoiur videos !!
I did know that about the setting on the GoPro. It’s useful when wanting to edit on a lower spec device and great for your use case. I did not know about the iPad solution you outline. A neat workaround you have for dealing with HEVC footage. Thanks for sharing! I appreciate your support and feedback here!
Yes, check out this video with the GoPro Hero 12. This has a lot of samples and is updated with the newest settings and some helpful tips: ua-cam.com/video/_gUKzdUWJ6Y/v-deo.htmlsi=W9hOxNoDRZsfyBlf
I recommend making sure you are on the latest firmware version. If so, you may need to reset the camera. I’ve had this happen once on mine and I had to do a reset.
Yes and no. The center of the frame will have less distortion than the sides but there will still be some distortion. It is also possible to remove the distortion when editing in several video editing programs or if you have a license to ReelSteady which is an add-on with the GoPro Player Desktop App.

Congratulations to you as well!

You’re welcome!

Thx fixed my studio settings right away!
Excellent!
@ 4:07 you mention a specific Gymbal and say 'it's in the description below' but I do not see it. Can you post please? Thank you. Nice tutorial!
Thank you for your feedback! I have fixed the description and added three I recommend.
Thanks for this concrete and detailed explanation

@@GreatDayForAHike one last question! Should I film in linear? Wide? Narrow? What's the best for UA-cam?

Wow man thanks a ton you.. Just saved me months of frustrations.
Informative and good job. I also have gopro 10. From mjc Malaysia.
Thank you and greetings! I still have my Hero 10 and find it to be a great camera.

@RoyPetrie you’re welcome!
Is it also ok to set White Balance as Auto instead of 5000k if the indoor lighting is all natural and doesn’t change from room to room?
Yes, this should work just fine.
Thanks for the video. 👍
What camera was this video filmed with? Do you have one just with the go pro?
wow nice thanks for sharing i try
Thanks
Hi... I am trying to change the anti flicker to 50Hz, but it doesn't change. The screen makes some glitch and it remains on 60Hz (I am in europe)
I recommend making sure you are on the latest firmware version. If so, you may need to reset the camera. I’ve had this happen once on mine and I had to do a reset.
What antiflickering seting should I use in Europe?
50 Hz

If you crop wide footage does it still have the fish eye look?

can i use it to scan books or will be bead photos
Awesome tip. I'm going to try them on my GoPro Hero 7 black. 👍56
Nice tips

I staying with 4k for most things. Storage and editing is a issue.
4K is great and often enough for many situations.
