Finally, someone heard me! Got a GoPro black 10....but just don't know nothing and never did any editing in life! You are a savior. Thanks a zillion. I am subbed and will be following your vids. Thanks, man. I am so grateful. You patiently explained everything clearfully. Awesome!
Actually of all the many GoPro videos I've seen this one is at the top for most helpful. There is a lot of information here and that was exactly what I wanted/needed to hear. And it was also very helpful that you went into the other modes as well, and did not just do video.
This is a very helpful video for people who just got a new Hero 10. Mine is in the mail from Amazon and will be here next few days. Your video help me understand different video options.
I just bought a pre-owned GP 8 for one purpose, which is to try and document a few special MC rides while I still can. I had NO idea how complex these are. This tutorial is absolutely fantastic! I'd be willing to buy a quick settings guide with this info, which would save me from either taking numerous screenshots or attempting to keep notes. Neither of which is a realistic solution. At my age trying to remember this is not an option. Had I not seen this, it's quite likely this would have either eventually gone in the box with all the other cameras I got very little use of, or put for sale. I so regret not having this technology available for the few times the wife and I did some very risky ocean kayaking with 13' Feathercraft's with homemade sails. THANKS SO MUCH!
Just finally upgraded from my hero black 7 to the new 12, this video really helped me walk through the features even though a few things were different here and there
Got a GP 10 recently and found out your instruction. That's so helpful, really appreciated. Videos in my first trip with GP10 didnt satisfy me. Will try it again with the new settings. Big thanks!
Yeah after watching your videos I upgraded from the GoPro 5to the 9 and now I’m just after getting the GoPro 10 now and I can’t wait to get it out and try it out because I love capturing videos of rivers thanks for sharing this great video and so easy tips to follow and help people get amazing photos and videos thanks you and hope you have a great week 🫶🏻🇮🇪🤝
Thank you! I actually just released a video specific to the 11 today as well that delves into every setting. Most of the general settings will be similar but if you want anything specific to the 11 it’s all in here: ua-cam.com/video/5rck0XpGdp4/v-deo.html
@@GreatDayForAHike I have been capturing falls in Yosemite but not satisfied with my shots..I'm planning to use your setting next week, is there any special setting you recommend for.waterfalls?
I love Yosemite. Beautiful place and I’ve done some great hikes there. If you’d like the waterfalls to be captured using long exposure check out this video: ua-cam.com/video/s38k0L2WAgU/v-deo.html All you’ll need is a $20 ND1000 filter and the settings I share here.
At last I have found a tutorial which gives advice on how to use the goPro without the need for editing software due to complex settings. I have set my settings accordingly and hope to give it a test. Thank you
Nicely done. slowly step by step. Most of the professors are not highly educated and don't know how to teach people. when I was a student Japanese or British professors and instructors were experts to give their knowledge to the students that don't need 2nd time to repeat it. why UA-cam professors do not make algorithms for how to set up step-by-step and give the audience a copy that can be printed out and kept with it during practice.
I love ❤️ my new GoPro and I followed your settings suggestions to the T. I truly appreciate your video because I don't know the first thing about camera settings and your video has helped me tremendously!😊 Thank you!❤ If you don't mind sharing...what settings do you suggest for Cinematic? Also, to add that your video was easy to follow and well explained for people like me that don't have a clue 😉 about camera settings on their GoPro ...unlike other YT videos that I watched that didn't take talking to a newbie into account. So, again THANK YOU 😊 ❤
Thanks for your professional advice. I you check my videos you see I got this issue for so long and I couldn't find a clear explanation in youtube to fix my issue. Thanks again

Very helpful video. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I even took notes in Evernote as a reminder of what I could consider being my new default settings. Thanks again.
Really nice video, it helped me understand this camera what all these settings mean! But what do you advise for recording fireworks during the day and night?
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I am lucky enough to have the Hero Black 11 but not yet had a chance to get out there and use it. I learnt a lot from this, especially the white balance settings for dusk and dawn. Also EV settings were useful. (I’m mainly a street photographer so this is a big transition for me but I’m keen to embrace the GoPro family. Thanks again for the time you put into this.
Great video! I just bought a GoPro 12 and I love it but I have noticed that sometimes on certain skin tones things look a bit over sharpened and you can see a lot of blemishes on people’s skin, almost looks too sharp. If I’m just shooting scenery, everything looks gorgeous but when I’m shooting people or interviewing people, their skin looks a little sharp or even artifacts a bit. What do you suggest for better results? Sharpness to low? And for ISO max, is 400 outside ok? Thanks for the tips!!!

Can you help me better understand which would be better? I tried night lapse with the settings you mentioned and it was not very good. Wondering if I should just do time lapse instead with your settings. Thanks.
For a sunset I recommend the time lapse settings. In fact, I have a video I created that specifically covers all of the best settings I recommend for sunset time lapses. You can view it here: ua-cam.com/video/Oe-mNM6z-BA/v-deo.html

Excellent video. Thank You. Keep up the good work. I have a GoPro 11 that's mounted on my motorcycle. What video settings would you recommend? All highway riding and speeds up to 75mph with desert and mountain terrain. Thanks
Thank you. If you would like to edit and have maximum vertical and horizontal flexibility with your footage later on I recommend using the 8:7 full frame mode in 5.3K 30fps. If you don't need that much flexibility then I recommend doing the 5.3K resolution using the wide or ultrawide lens if you prefer more of the landscape around you. As for frame rate you could choose 60 fps if there is a chance you'll want to slow anything down. Otherwise you could use 24 or 30 fps.

Hello Master, I need your advice again. I recorded a video of a garden that was about 200 meters away from me, but when I played the video on a widescreen TV, the image looked good, but the garden seemed to be as far away as 500 meters. Do you know why? I don't like the fisheye effect, so I've set it to Linear. My settings are HDR - Linear - 4K - FPS 60 - Depth 10 - Bitrate High - White balance Auto.🤥
Thanks for another awesome tutorial! My photo's are all in 4:3 aspect even though the photo setting displays Wide on my Hero10 LCD. In Photo Settings it shows Wide but, its not highlighted. Also, tapping on it in settings I can't get any other setting options. Could you please tell me what I'm missing? I would sincerely appreciate it. As always, Thank You for all your awesome tutorials!! Great job! 👍
Thanks! The photo will by default be in the 4:3 aspect ratio (or in the case of the Hero 11, the 8:7 aspect ratio). This is because GoPro designed the photo mode to use the entire sensor. If you want to crop it later on you can easily do so on your computer or phone. Hope this helps!
@@GreatDayForAHike Thank you! With GoPro giving you the option of Wide, I couldn't figure out what the problem was. A little bit of a hassle to get the wide aspect but, it will give you some adjustment in post transitioning it. I have FCPX and ON1 Photo therefore, it shouldn't be a problem. Thanks again, appreciate all your hard work you put into your tutorials!! 👍

hello good afternoon good explanations and good videos I have a question I want to wash my car in a garage with the gopro11 on a tripod what is the best configuration to record? there is white light in the garage
The general video best settings should work for you. If you just want standard speed footage then I recommend 4K24. White balance you will likely want to set at 3200K if this will be indoor light bulbs.
Great video, especially with the time lapse. Any suggestion on how to get the battery to last longer? Do you just buy a portable battery? New to filmmaking. Thanks
Great video! Thanks! I will write these setting down because I tend to forget easily. :-) I will trust your other videos if I choose to edit my night lapse using individual photos. Keep up the good work! Very necessary for a lot of folks.
Thank you! I appreciate your feedback and support. Speaking of night lapses, I just did another night lapse last night with the photo mode and editing and I’ll be sharing that soon here. The Milky Way really stood out last night which I always appreciate in a time lapse.
Gostei! Parabéns! Mas já agora que editor usas para renderizar os videos, pois os videos da Gopro ficam bem, mas quando renderizados ficam cheios de lag no UA-cam.
I have just got my GoPro and using this video to help as so far the quality of my videos I have not been impressed with at all. Considering returning tbh. However noticed that some of these settings are different in my camera, like I have the autoboost now would you still recommend these settings for no editing or are there slight changes you would make?
Which GoPro do you have? If you have the Hero 11, I recommend checking out this video I made specifically for the 11: ua-cam.com/video/5rck0XpGdp4/v-deo.html
@@GreatDayForAHike I have the hero 11. I have the stabilisation on and it doesnt appear to be doing anything with the videos looking really unstable. They are looking super grainy too.
It’s possible you may need to do a reset on your camera and then redo the settings. Or, if you are filming in low light then this is normal because Hypersmooth does not work well in low light and will create jitters and grain in the footage.

Thank you! I appreciate your feedback and support. Speaking of night lapses, I just did another night lapse last night with the photo mode and editing and I’ll be sharing that soon here. The Milky Way really stood out last night which I always appreciate in a time lapse.
@@GreatDayForAHike Looking forward to it!
Great video! Thanks!
I appreciate your feedback!
Thank you for sharing.
You’re welcome.
What do you recommend for connecting an external mic?
Eric
Very informative! Thanks for the tips Bro! Keep it up!🤙🤙
Thanks!
Thank you friend❤️👍
You’re welcome.
Gostei!
