The mystery of the bezel markings explained: When you go on a dive you align the pip of the bezel with the minute hand and the makings on the bezel tell you how much time has elapsed, since you started the dive. The red zone on the bezel usually between the pip and the 15 or 20 minute mark indicates the time you can safely dive below a certain depth without having to make decompression stops. The air from a scuba tank is at higher pressure than the surrounding environment, so that you are still able to breathe with a large body of water pressing on you from all sides. When you resurface too quickly the added pressure can lead to a build up of gas bubbles in your bloodstream which can cause decompression sickness and even lethal embolisms. The longer you stay at greater depth the higher the risk for DCS occuring. 15 - 20 minutes is seen as the safe limit you can stay at depth. Any longer and you have to make decompression stops on your way up .That is also why the bezels of ISO certified dive watches only rotate counterclockwise, so if you knock it out of its set position by accident it will give you a shorter time readout, better safe than sorry.
Wearing a watch is RAD, even if you have a phone. It's nice to have something mechanical. Also, since Orlando is called "the City Beautiful" I though you may have been an Orlando channel, but what I found was WAY COOLER. Many props, dude!
I concur with this. The BEST side-effect of wearing a watch is I don't look at my phone NEARLY as much, which means I don't find as many reasons to waste time messing around with my phone.

It's just weird that the camera didn't zoom in on the watches as they discussed specific details and they didn't film some shots of just the watches so we can see what they're talking about. Michael would love the Richard Mille Crazy Hours. The hours go in incriments of 5. So, 8, 1, 6, 11, 4, 9, 2, 7, 12, 5, 10, 3, and then back to 8. Every time the minute hand goes back to the top of the hour, the hour hand jumps across the dial to the correct hour.

Yes, the mod parts are aftermarket. Edit: Seiko crystal is called Hardlex. And Michael and others need to check out vintage watches. Some of my favorites are 1930s - 1950s. Many US manufacturing in that timeframe. Cool to think about the stores those old watches could tell and it’s history on your wrist.
The question is: when do we get to see some more timepieces out of the Savage collection, and when do we get a one day build of a watch carrying kit? :D
I love how when describing the reverse watch to Adam, Michael does it so that the audience sees the usual watchmode while Adam sees what is actually being described.
The red component of the dial on the Seiko indicates time left at decompression zones and also how long you spend from under the water at the surface to the time you start coming back up (otherwise known at bottom time) not used for air left in the tank as this condition is based on your breathing regularity, experience and equipment.
I like that neither of them are snobby when it comes to watches, they both like reasonably affordable watches as well as expensive watches (like Adams amazing omega!)
I own a Seiko automatic timepiece and it’s very nice but recently I have been a little obsessed with the g shock community. That Omega tank might just need a bit of a service, it sounds like the oil is starting to gum up in the bearing jewels. I'd estimate a price around $600 for a complete run through. You could also opt for a restoration but that would exceed $2000.
I wouldn't go for a restoration. A service should suffice. Too often a restoration means over polishing the case and throwing a redial in, which will halve the value of the watch(at least).
I mean they are most certainly not THE watch people. For them it must be like a secondary, or even tertiary interest. If anything I'm more surprised there are enough big watch geeks these dayts to flood the comment section here.
acs197 critiquing this video isn’t about being snooty or a gatekeeper. It’s just not a video that is what it claims to be. Geeking out over watches necessitates some level or watch geek-ness. I love Adam but this video was a fail from that perspective.
As a huge fan of Adam and Michael and as a watchmaker, this video is awesome! Also Michael, you really should get your vintage Omega serviced. It should have a power reserve of about 36 hours.
There is a watch that you should check out called the Vostok Amphibian. It is not expensive and not perfectly made or accurate. The case design however is very mechanically interesting as a diver and a tear down video may be fun for many people.
Michael: check out my cool watch! Adam: I just happen to have three watches right here in my shop. I win! Michael: Not so fast old man, I have a case of four watches right here. Choke on that sucka! Adam: :O
0:39 Just would like to point out the original Kominderskie watches made by Vostok were mechanical, so I'm not sure if that's a newer one or its not genuine?
I was excited to see “Brain Candy Live” is coming to the Paramount in Seattle April 2018, but I’m stumped as to why STG chose this video of Adam & Michael in a workshop talking about watches as their link for “Media” about the show.
You don't have a closeup lens?????? The more high tech you get, ironically the more you appreciate "low" tech mechanical watches. I even built a wooden geared clock. They have counterfeit Casio watches that the real ones are $10 to $15.
Does anyone know what kind of case that is that Michael has? I want to get one for my dad for christmas and I can find one I like. He wears MASSIVE watches so it needs to be big enough to hold them, preferably without dividers and preferably a hard case instead of a soft one so that they stay protected during travel... can anyone help me out?

Also Michael, you really should get your vintage Omega serviced. It should have a power reserve of about 36 hours.
The way michael sets Adam’s favorite watch on the table at 4:49 it’s funny. I would have been more careful. But they’re built like tanks ❤
The first 10 seconds are already giving me a fangasm.
There is a watch that you should check out called the Vostok Amphibian. It is not expensive and not perfectly made or accurate. The case design however is very mechanically interesting as a diver and a tear down video may be fun for many people.
Bob Builder also because it's so cheap it's a great watch to start out with when you're collecting mechanical watches. I myself own two amphibians.
I love taking them apart and then trying to rebuild them... sometimes they even tick afterwards!
Currently wearing my amphibian antimagnetic. Love it.
4:46 Damn, could he have thrown that any harder? That's an $8,200 watch, not his $100 Vostok
Don't mess with Vostok.
Daniel Pinto funny thing is I actually own both an Omega Speedmaster, and a Vostok Amphibia lol
Being a watch guy myself..this was painful to watch...although seeing a quartz komandirskie was cool
Too many shitters for me.
Right? Had no idea that Vostok had Quarts movements at all, this is a first for me!
@@gilzineto probably has a Seiko or Citizen cheap quartz movement.
@@bushkesh yes, and it's probably more expensive than the automatic komandirskies... that's a shame considering they have their own in doors movement
@@gilzineto in doors? 😂 You mean in-house movement.
Thanks for watching
11:16 ... wow, Adam just got 35 years older in a second. Been watching him for soooo long you hardly notice
Man, why was that bit at the end cut out? I would've liked to hear Michael's and Adam's stories about buying their first watches.
I was excited to see “Brain Candy Live” is coming to the Paramount in Seattle April 2018, but I’m stumped as to why STG chose this video of Adam & Michael in a workshop talking about watches as their link for “Media” about the show.
We need to get more people into horology
No, we don't.
Roach DoggJR stfu
No shame in that, we all have to make a living
What happened to Adam's Omega Speedmaster?
Did he ever have one? I think it was the Seamaster PO chronograph all along.
4:48 the way he puts the omega down is so utterly irreverent
that seiko watch looks amazing so im getting one, thank you for making it easier to find a good watch!
Is there a way I can watch the unedited end segment, because I really wanna see the rest of it
It would have been great to actually see the watches
"they are not that expensive" *looks it up at local price in another country* yes, they are not that expensive if you're warren buffett lol
Michael made me more confident in my own watches. I love his approach to collecting
