Vsauce, Michael here with Adam Savage. But what "IS" Adam Savage and how many of him could we fit into the earths sun? To answer that question lets first look at Brazil nuts!
Honestly I chalked it up to him throwing Adam an easy way to explain it to the audience. It feels more natural to watch Adam explain something to Michael than to watch him explain something to the camera. Even though both methods are for the purpose of the camera.
Just shows that no one knows everything. There’s too much to know and learn. A mechanic knows about tools but not space. A scientist knows space but nothing about the car or tools required to work on car lol
@@nikkishins A agree with this. I think he knew what it was as well. I also do appreciate the fact that Michael is one of those people who will jump at the opportunity to show he doesn't know something. It's a good characteristic that a lot of "smart people" could learn from. It's okay to not know everything. It's not okay to willingly be ignorant of everything or pretend like you knew something for the sake of posterity. We all have embarrassing moments where our lack of knowledge or understanding shines through. Own it. Change it. Learn from it.
Nope, probably, Adam's shortsighted... If that's the case, the glasses make everything appear to be smaller; but working in "short distance" allowes a short-sighted to take off the glasses... As the brain gets used to the smaller images, this CAN (in most cases) work like a magnifying-glass... I'm using this "tactic" myself (well - minus 6 dpt makes things appear VERY small)... Works great
Nah, he's just nearsighted. If he were shortsighted he'd probably be dead by now. And yes, when I take a wristwatch apart and put it back together I tend to take my glasses off if I'm not using a loupe.

Does Michael even know why he's being filmed? Michael's weird obsession with his ruined glasses was distracting - eyeglasses cost about as much as a pizza these days. So these have a mike in them now - go to Warby Parker or Zenni or whatever and get another pair. Michael's mansplaining about "three voices" was cringeworthy. Does he not think that Adam Savage, a bright guy who's been on TV for decades, doesn't understand the concept of room reverberations and bone conduction? StarlightDemon71, I think that fear probably is common for everyone who wears prescription glasses! When you can't see without your glasses, you can get pretty worries about loosing you glasses!

i got like 6 laying around, just in case i cant find them. have one in my drawer besides the bed, and one on the counter and broken ones on top of my computer desk so at lest i can use them to find the others. you can buy cheap glasses online with just about any prescription. went to glasses shop near me and they wanted a minimum of 500dollars for glasses for me, then went online and bought 3 pars for 100dollars, they broke bought another 2 pairs for under 100dollars and a few months back i bought 4 pairs for around 150dollars (one of them was higher quality glass) seeing how i have used 5 pars over around 5 years and i can scale them with my prescription instead of having one that is no longer right.
@@HuyV Fuck natural selection. I don't think you deserve to die, because you are born with a small disorder... The absence of natural selection just goes to show that quality of life is increasing!
They have a harmonious natural timbre and pacing with each other; not rushed, or boringly slow, or discordant. Both speak with a certain lyrical pattern too
Luciano de Benedictis most Tested videos aren't like this. I definitely like this more than any of their other vids. They're just coming from a TV/movie background, so most of their stuff just seems weird on UA-cam
+Ken Oakleaf I would agree with that when it comes to most UA-camrs, but I wanna see what these guys could do with a big primetime budget. Mythbusters as it was could have never existed on UA-cam because it cost way too much to make. Besides, Adam seems like the exact same person on TV and UA-cam. It would be a science show, not a reality show.
I've had some pretty deep conversations with stoners, but still what I said stands, especially when Michael goes on that rant about how you hear your own voice differently. That's one of those classic "Whoa dude" Bill & Ted sorta shit
***** I'm a stoner myself, it's just that most people (stoner or not) like to talk about things that they don't really understand. In my case, I'll ask questions if I don't know about something, but lots of people are too proud to do that. But yeah, this video would be what I'd like all my conversations to be: inspiring, respectful, interesting, open-minded, non-judgemental and ultimately educational! That's part of why I love Vsauce!
Yeah Michael is just a really awesome dude, and him and Adam just vibe together so beautifully, because they're such kindred spirits, I suppose you could say. They've got a lot of the same interests, do a lot of the same things, have similar jobs, similar personalities, they just.. vibe.
i wish there were a million more episodes like this, love these two together so much. sad i didn’t know they toured when they did, don’t know how i missed it!!
This is one of those things that remind me everyone actually lives in the same world, and what is separate in my head is not necessarily separate in real life.
I burst out laughing when Adam put on Michael's glasses and start talking like him🤣 P.S. I love how you talk Michael. Thank for pause to let me catch you up!
I love how neither of them will hesitate to throw out a "Why?" Or "Explain that." and the other will launch straight into an explaination. Adam's insane creativity and practical skills, and Michael's love of knowledge and simple awe of the world around him pair together so wonderfully. I'll never get enough of Michael and Adam in the same room; I could listen to them talk for hours :)
You can hear through it for a bit at 22:03, as Adam folds the glasses and tucks them into his shirt. Maybe not what you wanted to hear through it, but eh.
I actually really enjoy listening to michael talk. He's really clear and those pauses to allow you to "catch up" are actually a really great thing that a lot of people don't do. His voice is weirdly calming and relaxing to hear.
I'm nearsighted, too. Us, nearsighted people, we have a bad far eyesight but our close eyesight is often very good. In fact, it depends on our astgmatism and presbyopia levels, if we have. If our presbyopia level is higher than our myopia level, our near eyesight become bad. Idem, if we have an hypermetropic astigmatism. Obviously, we can have an hypermetropic or myopic astigmatism and presbiotia, in a same time.
You gotta be an Adam Savage if you dare to glue something to glasses with cyanoacrylate without covering the glass with tape. I would never ever ever have the guts (or considering my skills - be stupid enough) to do that.
+KynigosTheWolf cyanoacrylate (superglue) causes many clear plastics (such as glasses lens) to become very foggy due to it acting as a solvent and actually melting a thin layer of the lens.
Not sure if you notice but he did when the mic came unseated. Thats why he had a solvent on hand in the lil spray bottle, although that also probably removed any coating that was on the glasses and not just the adhesive.
Cyanoacrylates you'll only remove mechanically. Put it on your glasses and they're DONE. DEAD. Forever. With solvent you'll only smear it into a thin film. But he didn't smudge the glasses:Cyanoacrylates will take forever to harden if you don't use either insta-set or sodium bicarbonate. The little spray bottle isn't solvent, it's insta-set accelerator - put it on ca glues and they harden instantly. (I read a forensic research paper that suggested cocaine would also work, but that's cost prohibitive.)
Dara MagUiginn Well to be fair Michael does own a channel with over 11 million subscribers and I wouldn't say Norm is the guy bringing in the majority subscribers for Tested at all. I'm personally here for Adam.
I love Adams ability to multitasks, hes having an entire conversation with Michael and working on a very small and delicate project. To me, that is very impressive and shows his skill!
It was obvious that the quality of his replies and reactions dropped off while he was concentrating, but his multitasking conversational skills are better than mine when that's ALL I'm doing 😅
+ Tested Are the 16's in the back ground purposeful or coincidence? 16" sander disc, big black 16 painted on Wall, clock being at 9:35 (hour hand on 9, minute hand on 7, 9+7=16)
The self control required for Michael to remain calm while someone works on his glasses like that is commendable, I couldn't handle someone working on my means of vision like that
Felt to me like Adam wasn't too interested to talk about accents - or knowledgeable -, while Michael would've talked about it for hours. I'd love to talk about accents with Michael! :P
Paul J. Morton no, it was just that it's kind of basic knowledge to him, I saw Adam actually just being not interested at all and just playing along and feeling far above the whole thing.
I think Micheal would talk about anything for hours; he seems like the type of person that doesn't just do brief quips, you push a button and he dumps a book's worth of related knowledge.
To me it seemed he wasn't disinterested. He was working on something that takes concentration and it's a bit hard to do that and work with someone you haven't really worked with before being an introvert. I would be the same way.
I have glasses and i am a little paranoid about others touching them, but tbh if i let anyone touch them, and "mod" them, i would only let Adam do it. V^___^V
River Song I broke the transmission I think :( I fully restored everything in it, the engine the flipping lights, interior, new seats, new weather strips, new carpet, new exhaust. One day i was driving, and i noticed for some reason it won't switch into 2nd gear, I tried to check relay connections to make sure it wasn't electronics, but no luck. It sits I'm my garage now.
Great one. I can watch Adam building anything, the fact that i've spended the last 23 minutes watching him working on glasses just proves it and just to say... Vsauce participation were great, the talk between them were so funny to watch that those 23 minutes just flew by so quickly...
19:29 There are several ways to pronounce it. The OED only lists si-choo-ay-shun and sit-yoo-ay-shun, but evidently si-djoo-ay-shun (Michael), and sits-yoo-ay-shun (VSauce Michael) are also possible.
TheMrVengeance Well, I'm also a linguist, and it's not hilarious to me. You're sacrificing intelligibility for accuracy. As for your examples, you as a linguist ought to know perfectly well that the letter 'j' in English is much more likely to have the value /ʒ/ than /j/ as in words like 'adjust', and an English speaker would be very unlikely to pronounce 'ay' according to either of your suggestions but very likely to pronounce it by analogy with words like 'day' (i.e., an /eɪ/ sound), so I think most English speakers would understand my intention to a pretty close approximation the way I wrote it.
TheMrVengeance Yes, English spelling has a lot of irregularity, but that is not to say that there aren't many predictable relationships between letters and sounds. I stuck cautiously to letters that do have predictable values. I assumed my comment would primarily be interesting to people who speak different English accents since that's how the discussion in the video arose, but yes, if there are a lot of IPA-trained, non-native English speakers reading through the comments section of this English language video, I could have made myself clearer by using IPA, but then which vowels would I use, or should I list every regional variation? I think you are just using this thread as a pretext to show off some smarts.

i got like 6 laying around, just in case i cant find them. have one in my drawer besides the bed, and one on the counter and broken ones on top of my computer desk so at lest i can use them to find the others. you can buy cheap glasses online with just about any prescription. went to glasses shop near me and they wanted a minimum of 500dollars for glasses for me, then went online and bought 3 pars for 100dollars, they broke bought another 2 pairs for under 100dollars and a few months back i bought 4 pairs for around 150dollars (one of them was higher quality glass) seeing how i have used 5 pars over around 5 years and i can scale them with my prescription instead of having one that is no longer right.
@@HuyV Fuck natural selection. I don't think you deserve to die, because you are born with a small disorder...
The absence of natural selection just goes to show that quality of life is increasing!
9:13 "Tell me if I'm getting in too close." Goes in for the kiss.
Josh someone make Adam and Michael fan fic.

8:06 "My glasses have a slightly thicker frame than yours"
Classic nerd posturing.
These guys could be talking about anything anything at all and I would enjoy listening to it can someone explain why?
Tristen Hernandez they have actual personality
you like them both
Tristen Hernandez you find them both very attractive.
They have a harmonious natural timbre and pacing with each other; not rushed, or boringly slow, or discordant. Both speak with a certain lyrical pattern too
Tristen Hernandez the way they pronounce, speak, and their voice is hot, lol
I'm surprised they didn't actually TEST the mic. Therefore the glasses hack is UNTESTED.
Vsauce, Adam here
Could you imagine :o
This needs to happen!
Vested... comeon....
LeonardChurch33 It will

michael is really trying to get the point along, that these glasses are very important to him
I know, they mostly talk about glasses, but they seem so natural and not made up. Maybe it's a quality of UA-cam
I think it's their quality. There's a lot of people here on UA-cam that sound made up.
Well, they're both talkers...
Luciano de Benedictis most Tested videos aren't like this. I definitely like this more than any of their other vids. They're just coming from a TV/movie background, so most of their stuff just seems weird on UA-cam
Well that is actual real TV for you
How awesome would it be if Michael and Adam hosted a science show on TV?
omg, This needs to happen! :)
bucky13 collaboration on vsauce with the gang.
bucky13 I would rather watch semi-real Adam and Michael on here than 100% scripted Adam and Michael on TV.
It would be a science show, not a reality show.
yeh something here they go about busting myths or something, and end up exploding a bunch of stuff
"Don't worry it won't be destructive"
*pulls out a Dremel*
Even though the mic hidden in the glasses is a brilliant idea, the most interesting thing in this video was the conversation. Really enjoyed it.
This was awesome. Funnily enough it felt like the kind of things that two people talk about when they're sitting around smoking weed
FracturedPixels ...except that they actually know what they're talking about! 😂
They've got a lot of the same interests, do a lot of the same things, have similar jobs, similar personalities, they just.. vibe.
FracturedPixels Interesting and intelligent people don't need weed.
i wish there were a million more episodes like this, love these two together so much. sad i didn’t know they toured when they did, don’t know how i missed it!!
Michael is so curious I love it
This is one of those things that remind me everyone actually lives in the same world, and what is separate in my head is not necessarily separate in real life.
It's like the Marvel Cinematic Universe but in real life. I'm like, "All these super cool UA-camrs I watch... are in the same universe... whoaaaa"
I burst out laughing when Adam put on Michael's glasses and start talking like him🤣
P.S. I love how you talk Michael. Thank for pause to let me catch you up!
Two of my favorite Sciencemen geeking out about glasses. Great stuff guys.
poor michael, we can see he didnt wanted his glasses upgraded but got it anyway
I love how neither of them will hesitate to throw out a "Why?" Or "Explain that." and the other will launch straight into an explaination. Adam's insane creativity and practical skills, and Michael's love of knowledge and simple awe of the world around him pair together so wonderfully. I'll never get enough of Michael and Adam in the same room; I could listen to them talk for hours :)
In the UK we used to wrap that aluminium tape around 10 pence pieces and public telephones would accept them as 50 pence.
Jellyf0x - That is $0.50 worth of fraud.
30 YEARS DUNGEON
HowToCode - It is a 50p coin, yes. However the difference is $0.50, converted.
Hes saving 40p by spending 10p instead of 50p. It is 40p worth of fraud. 40p converts to $0.50.
+HowToCode It wouldn't be 50p fraud, it is 40p, which is about $0.50 (0.49). You can't figure that one out?
Hahaha. I love this combo here. I want so many more videos with you two in them.
Love how Michel got relaxed with Adam and just talked about himself. High five for the soda transformation :D
2 blind mice, 2 blind mice, see how they work, see how they work!
With receding hair lines. ;P
And excellent facial hair.
That's super weird, I had never heard of this song until earlier today.
2 blind mice, 2 blind mice.
Thats how it works
Only issue with this episode.. I want to hear what the mic sounds like :\
Right? Also, what kind of mic is it?! They never posted it :(
They did say it. It's a Contryman B6 mic
@MassiveD ...No he wasn't. He wasn't even wearing his glasses half of the time.
@@devinchristianson5849 too bad they are expensive as all hell
You can hear through it for a bit at 22:03, as Adam folds the glasses and tucks them into his shirt.
Maybe not what you wanted to hear through it, but eh.
I relate to Michael looking only in general directions and not at specific things because he's not wearing glasses and also being claustrophobic
I love how Michael can't stop talking haha. He's so great.
WHAT!!! ADAM IS 49!!! JAMIE IS 60!!! THE WORLD MAKES NO SENSE!!!
Tori is 46.... this makes no sense to me
Wait... I'M TWENTY! WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN!?
Kari Byron is 42! That is really just crazy thinking about it
what
I actually really enjoy listening to michael talk. He's really clear and those pauses to allow you to "catch up" are actually a really great thing that a lot of people don't do. His voice is weirdly calming and relaxing to hear.
I cannot believe you guys did not let us hear the mic :(
when?
They were using the mic when he put the glasses in his collar, you could hear it brushing against his shirt.
Or maybe that was the mic in the shirt ... that he had on the entire clip.
hahaha :D no :P They don't even conneted mic :) that was lav skin mic
Yeah, because this isn´t an edited show, and if you didn´t see it happen, it never did.
Wow Adam looks older than I remember, now he looks like an evil genius instead of a mad man, haha
Connor King he had to lvl up
Wait a minute... Adam can't see anything without glasses and he is using a drill on someonelse's glasses without wearing any glasses?
I'm nearsighted, too. Us, nearsighted people, we have a bad far eyesight but our close eyesight is often very good. In fact, it depends on our astgmatism and presbyopia levels, if we have. If our presbyopia level is higher than our myopia level, our near eyesight become bad. Idem, if we have an hypermetropic astigmatism. Obviously, we can have an hypermetropic or myopic astigmatism and presbiotia, in a same time.
Myriam M. Hrybynyk you way overdid it you could have just explained it by saying he’s nearsighted
He's nearsighted. Also, if you're near sighted, sometimes it's easier to see close without glasses. And I found the explanation interesting
You gotta be an Adam Savage if you dare to glue something to glasses with cyanoacrylate without covering the glass with tape. I would never ever ever have the guts (or considering my skills - be stupid enough) to do that.
what happens if it gets on glass ? and why that specific type of glue ?
+KynigosTheWolf cyanoacrylate (superglue) causes many clear plastics (such as glasses lens) to become very foggy due to it acting as a solvent and actually melting a thin layer of the lens.
Not sure if you notice but he did when the mic came unseated. Thats why he had a solvent on hand in the lil spray bottle, although that also probably removed any coating that was on the glasses and not just the adhesive.
***** The kicker is actually safe for clear plastics
Cyanoacrylates you'll only remove mechanically. Put it on your glasses and they're DONE. DEAD. Forever. With solvent you'll only smear it into a thin film. But he didn't smudge the glasses:Cyanoacrylates will take forever to harden if you don't use either insta-set or sodium bicarbonate. The little spray bottle isn't solvent, it's insta-set accelerator - put it on ca glues and they harden instantly. (I read a forensic research paper that suggested cocaine would also work, but that's cost prohibitive.)
I feel like I know Adam better from Tested than from Mythbusters nowadays.
CuffRox i guess because in Mythbusters, he's limited to what the topic is about and it's pretty scripted too..
I come back to this video so often. I just love watching the chemistry between Michael and Adam.
Duct tape is like The Force. It has a light side and a dark side and it binds the galaxy together.
dont you mean duck tape
T4T3RT0T it's actually duct tape not duck tape
I feel like I just watched Adam and Michael on a date
Peridusk
A terrible one sided date where Adam got a little annoyed and Micheal couldn't tell so he kept awkwardly annoying him.
slayerficated I didn't catch that, at what part?
***** No one said they didn't like it.
***** Perfect.
I was hoping that it wasn't just me picking up on that.
i totally thought that michael was going to say he got so sad he drank the night away with soda
Cool thing about Michael is that he manages to be inquisitive, without being irritating like Norm.
Dara MagUiginn who the fuck is norm
The Asian guy on a lot of the Tested videos.
Dara MagUiginn Well to be fair Michael does own a channel with over 11 million subscribers and I wouldn't say Norm is the guy bringing in the majority subscribers for Tested at all. I'm personally here for Adam.
aren't we all here for Adam? #mancrush
Dara MagUiginn fuck you dont be racist
you two should have a channel together
myth Breakers lol
It should be called "Brain Candy".
V-Busters. Also the name of the porno I'm working on
I love Adams ability to multitasks, hes having an entire conversation with Michael and working on a very small and delicate project. To me, that is very impressive and shows his skill!
It was obvious that the quality of his replies and reactions dropped off while he was concentrating, but his multitasking conversational skills are better than mine when that's ALL I'm doing 😅
Something must have imploded somewhere in the universe when these guys met.
Today on Tested:
Two moles do arts and crafts.
hey guys! Vsauce Michael here! And did u just fucking break my glasses
Sanic James yes
"Two blind men use powertools" would make a better title
+ Tested Are the 16's in the back ground purposeful or coincidence? 16" sander disc, big black 16 painted on Wall, clock being at 9:35 (hour hand on 9, minute hand on 7, 9+7=16)
thats like a 3-400$ microphone hes putting in his glasses. lol, ok
That's one big price range
Yeah - for two guys who make all of their income by speaking into microphones I'd say it's a sound investment.
@@-SKLove YES!!! Finally!!!!! Jesus, I've been waiting 2 weeks for this gratification.. 😂 Thank you! 😂
@@jasonpwnd What gratification? ? o_O
@Parker Productions No.
it's fun watching Michael learning something
Thanks for posting. It was nice to hang out with you guys.
Ok Adam, now here is the question, where... are... your... fingers?
Adam: Confused screaming
Vsauce: I'm the complete opposite. To me, my voice sounds much higher pitch when I hear myself talk verses when I hear a recording of myself.
Same for me. Apparently I have a very deep voice.
Same for me. My voice is deeper, raspier, and quieter/softer than what I hear myself.
***** Neat!
From now on every time you drop your glasses you can say,"Drop the mic"!
El Diablo , Very funny !
The self control required for Michael to remain calm while someone works on his glasses like that is commendable, I couldn't handle someone working on my means of vision like that
I still don't believe these two are doing stuff together! so awesome. also, how cool is to have your glasses mod by Adam Savage?
Felt to me like Adam wasn't too interested to talk about accents - or knowledgeable -, while Michael would've talked about it for hours. I'd love to talk about accents with Michael! :P
no, he cant talk while working, he needs to focus
I think Adam's reaction to Michael telling him he grew up drinking "Coke" was one of the most relatable moments I've seen for either of these guys.
I have glasses and i am a little paranoid about others touching them, but tbh if i let anyone touch them, and "mod" them, i would only let Adam do it. V^___^V
Maxwell Rodgers just throw vsous under the buss
Why the furry emoticon, though?
I like these two. They're good people.
If I'm going to trust anyone carve into my daily wear glasses, it would be Adam.
Great touch by the editor playing with the audio when Michael was describing sound
do you want spit facts?
Eyyyyyy! Corvette!!
River Song Yes, its mine, i used to drive it everyday.
I have a '74! Why don't you drive it as much now?
River Song I broke the transmission I think :( I fully restored everything in it, the engine the flipping lights, interior, new seats, new weather strips, new carpet, new exhaust.
One day i was driving, and i noticed for some reason it won't switch into 2nd gear, I tried to check relay connections to make sure it wasn't electronics, but no luck. It sits I'm my garage now.
Ah no that sucks... I'm restoring my '74 right now. It's hard work man that really sucks. What year is it?
That moment when Michael doesn't realise how he sound xD
wielkus that moment when you forget how to spoken
Bad word speaking. Much funny. Very wow.
Doge
I didn't even realize how he talks. I thought that was just him being dramatic for Vsauce hahaha.
Great one.
I can watch Adam building anything, the fact that i've spended the last 23 minutes watching him working on glasses just proves it and just to say... Vsauce participation were great, the talk between them were so funny to watch that those 23 minutes just flew by so quickly...
A dentist doesn't use a drill. Its called a handpiece. Because people tend not to react well to having a drill shoved into their mouth.
yet everyone knows it as a dentists drill.. what people don't react well to are smartasses..
Jacob Johnson Glad you're giving everyone a smartass to react to.
OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. DAMM SON
He's not wrong. You can try to ginger it up and hide behind soft language all you want, it's obviously a drill and everybody knows it.
If you can't fix it with Duct Tape, You're not using enough Duct Tape.
So if we wrap politician's heads with duct tape they may stop being stupid, irrational and corrupt? Sounds great!
Elmunus Angelo You should see my headset...
You mean duck tape?
MeditatedNut 333 duck tape is a specific brand but it’s really duct tape
Ok just put on so many layers of duct tape so that the bottom layer is thermally insulated.
"Ohhhhh but ducks aren't known for withstanding thermal cycles!" XD I love these guys
19:29 There are several ways to pronounce it. The OED only lists si-choo-ay-shun and sit-yoo-ay-shun, but evidently si-djoo-ay-shun (Michael), and sits-yoo-ay-shun (VSauce Michael) are also possible.
TheMrVengeance
Why hilarious? Most people don't understand phonetic symbols. There's a time and a place and this isn't it.
TheMrVengeance
Well, I'm also a linguist, and it's not hilarious to me.
TheMrVengeance
Yes, English spelling has a lot of irregularity, but that is not to say that there aren't many predictable relationships between letters and sounds.
I always pronounced it "sit-chew-ay-shun"
Si-chee-ay-shun
