Thanks this is the first video i found that actually showed how to use the ebay site and not just talk about shipping costs. This video covers it all from listing to making a label and packaging a product. This was very helpful as I always wanted to list on ebay but had no idea how to ship a package for them.
Great video. I also sell on eBay part time and just starting making videos about it. I liked your explanation about when to choose USPS vs. FedEx and how to save on shipping costs. Buyers want items as cheap and fast as possible.
I have a question. If they are paying for shipping then why did you pay. When they pay for shipping does the money that they pay for the shipping goes to your account so you can pay it?
Hi, Thank you for your great informative video. Would you please explain in a clear way how I can get a store on ebay as a new beginner? I appreciate you.
You can take them postal boxes and wrap them then stick first class labels on them. Just a small little tip. It will save a little money. But make sure they are wrapped good.
What if you don’t have a printer and can’t print a shipping label? In that case, I would have to manually hand write a label and place it on my parcel, right?
Hi love the vid and thank you for the information just wanted to ask you when printed out the label do I pay for it or does it come off the price of the item and what is left come to me or am I just only getting started on eBay and going to list my first item soon and do not want to make mistakes.
Question.....true beginner here.....call me crazy but how can the buyer have already paid for the item before you knew the best way to ship it and how much it would be? Are you stuck paying for shipping since they've already paid? I guess that's my confusion. Should you already weigh and figure out shipping before you list an item and include it in the price to the buyer? It looks like you lost almost $12 on the shoes because you didn't pass the cost of shipping onto the buyer? Or did I miss something? Thanks!
When you list an item on Ebay it lets you enter the items weight (rough estimate). So it automatically calculates how much it will cost to ship depending on where the buyer is located. Sometimes you make a little money off of shipping
your video helped me a lot thanks but i feel like you couldve sent your shoes on a bubble evolope iam just confused on return items how does thjat work
As a new seller getting my supplies to list and ship . Need to downsize my clutter and sell some on ebay . Many other items low profit time consuming . Thought I would search for a established seller selling same items within a few miles and ask to buy bulk very cheap to resell . After they purchase a few boxes of stuff I will do local deliver . You opinion ?
This is not for beginners. I can’t sell anything until I understand how to set up my shipping options. As it is now, I get a drop-down menu with three options (standard/freight/pickup.) Yet, I have t-shirts I want to sell 1st class that the buyer pays postage for, some items I want to ship flat rate padded envelope, and some items with free shipping. I finally found a "Shipping Preferences" page, thinking this would fix it to give me these needed options when listing an item, but I don't know how to answer the questions on this page. Is there a you-tube tutorial to explain all this? Why is this so darn difficult?!?
Thanks for the info, this is my first time visiting your channel and you may have addressed this before but, how do you get people to pay $11.59 shipping for used shoes that are $24? That’s what’s holding me back on reselling items online, are the shipping costs. I don’t know if people are inclined to pay that much shipping for used items. Do you pay the shipping? Sorry I’m a newb here lol
Hi Fig Tree Mom, no apology needed. I am happy to answer. So for my shoe listings, I charge all buyers a flat $9.95 shipping cost on top of whatever the listed price is. It usually averages out, I lose $1.50 on the east cost sales and make $1.50 on the west coast sales (I am in Vegas). Personally I have not had a lot of issues but I am a bit picky on the quality and type of shoes I sell. Main thing for me is just look at the price comps of the same shoe that sold and base the pricing off that. If the shoes are selling at $40 free shipping, I price at $30 + shipping. Taking out the shipping has benefits for fees and returns that’s why I do it.
Just catching up on your past videos. enjoying it! I just found out about pirate ship so I started checking things there too. Shipping cast iron skillets comes out a little cheaper on it.
Hey, I am aware this video was made 6 months ago but I’m hoping you will still reply. I am thinking of selling two board games. They have been opened but never used at all. Would I list them under new or pre used? Thank you
Hi there, So it depends on the inside parts, if everything is still wrapped/unopened I would list as “New Open Box or New Other”. If the pieces are all out of the packaging I would list as used even if you never did. When someone is buying some thing as New the are usually expecting factory sealed
Hi, great video. How about shipping smaller items, like a pack of stickers or a pack of Sharpie markers? I'd want to ship with tracking, but I can't find decent rates.
Hi there! Thank you so much for the video, cleared up a lot for me. I have a couple of questions: Since you selected Priority Mail instead of flat rate box, does that mean you can use any box you want as long as it doesn't exceed weight and max dimensions, correct? Also, if you include international shipping, any special considerations you include in your listing regarding that (for example, have USPS First Class for domestic and $X fee and have another Shipping Option for International buyers for $Y fee)? Thanks for your help.
Hi Ricardo, Yes any box that doesn’t exceed weight and dimension can be sent priority. I will be honest with you, I don’t ship internationally so I’m not the best person to ask for that part :)
i sold a 4# item and the buyer chose FedEx home for $23 and when I go to print the label I see that a regional A box is $9, if I use the rate A box is it a bad thing? , do I refund the difference?
Once the label is on the package you can just go to whichever service you used and drop it off. No need to wait in line, most will have a bin or let you just drop it off at the desk. If you want a receipt showing they scanned it into their system you will need to wait though
Wait sorry I didn’t understand the customer has to pay let’s say $10 for the item plus let’s say $5 for shipping right, then you have to pay to ship it as well ? I’m confusion plz help
Can you explain more what you mean by shipping thru eBay? I’m a new seller and figured I would just set the shipping rate based off of weight and dimensions. Once the item is purchased I would print the shipping label, box it up, and pay for the shipping when I drop it off at USPS. Please let me know if there is something I should be doing different.
I just wanna say this video was very informative, I’m thinking about getting started selling on eBay and the shipping part has been my main concern. Thanks to your video I’m more confident. Question, how soon do you ship the items once they sell ? And how many times in a day are you going to the post office to ship ? Thank you
Thanks for watching and the kind words. You can select “handling time” for your listings. Personally I do a 3 day handling since I am doing part time. This means I have 3 days after being paid to ship the item. Top sellers will do 1 day handling sometimes if they are shipping daily. For me I only ever go to the post office 1 time if I have items to ship that day. If an item sells later I will send out the following day.
@@ThriftingAfterWork thanks for the quick response, last question.. for now haha. I saw you had options to choose FedEx or usps. If you choose fedex can you still take the box to the post office to be shipped ? Thanks again !!
@@PositiveVibes19912 so, the technical answer is that if you happen to drop off a FedEx package at the post office it will eventually get there. Same here! I'm anxious to start selling, but can NOT wrap my head around this shipping stuff! Do you need to weigh the item and calculate shipping before you even list, so you advertise the right shipping fee? I know you said you've set a flat shipping fee. If that's what we choose to do, how do you determine the right amount? When do I choose a priority mail box, a brown box, or poly bag? Ebay helps me determine that after the item sells? USPS has crazy mail delays these days...will that result in negative feedback for the seller if the item doesn't arrive when expected?
@@sheenawarman7503 You don't really need to worry about the calculation on your listing. Because it is just an estimation shipping cost. Can I use a custom box and ship that as USPS priority mail? because on eBay for the shipping quote, i provided the dimensions of the shipping box I need and its giving me a USPS priority price quote but on the USPS website there are no boxes which has the flat rate label of the same size on my box.
I have a question I just sold my first items on eBay Im a brand new seller and for some reason the buyer already paid for shipping but PayPal is asking me to purchase first in order to get the shipping label will the shipping cost charge me or the buyer I'm really confused into my paypal info
Hi Barry congrats on your sale. Yes, you will still need to “purchase” the shipping through the eBay app. The money you charged the buyer for shipping will go into your account. The buyer doesn’t generate the shipping label you will and you will need to select the method of shipping and cost. You can then have the charge be billed to your PayPal where the money the buyer paid is deposited so it will balance out. Hope that makes sense, thanks again for watching and best of luck in your selling journey!
@@ThriftingAfterWork yes sounds right but will it charge on my account or when I get my sale deposit the shipping cost will go back in my paypal account? Im just worried I dislike losing money/pay for fees sorry if I asked 😩
No apology needed bud. It sounds like because this is your first sale they are holding the payment until the item is delivered. Which is common and might happen a couple more times.
