      Yes, we are in Westminster and it's a perfect little town with a lot to offer, Old mill and Wachusett mountain and in the middle of bigger towns Leominster Fitchburg and Gardner, 25 minutes from Worcester and hour from Boston.
      It's is cheaper then Newton .

    RE the Brookline figures (avg income of $111k, avg home price of just under $1 mil), are there some very expensive homes skewing the avg home price? Earning $111k doesn't put you anywhere close to being able to swing a payment for a million dollar house unless you have a ton of savings for some reason. Would the median home price be more indicative of what most are paying? Just in general it seems more and more that home ownership is shifting to a privilege the wealthy can afford and few others, at least in the most desirable areas of the country. It's really sad what that ends up doing to the overall cultural footprint of an area. San Francisco for example.
    Anywho, sorry for the long comment. Coastal MA is looking like an area I may want to land in retirement, which is way off, but I enjoy learning. Thanks for the info!

    • @livinginmassachusetts25
      @livinginmassachusetts25  3 роки тому +1

      Love the comment. To clarify, keep in mind that renters are common in urban areas and that can skew the average income greatly. Average sale price is a decent metric but condition and other factors can influence that as well.
      We are always happy to dig down really deep if you ever want to reach out with 1 on 1 questions.
      For now, we're glad you're enjoying the videos! Stay tuned for more on coastal MA too!

      @@livinginmassachusetts25 no one's looking for cheap sir but not looking for pie-in-the-sky numbers either. People don't mind paying a little extra to live in area were maybe they have history and grew up. It's just sad that people are getting squeezed out of there homes because of artificially inflated real estate prices. What you get are all of these Elite foreign investment types that come in and completely destroy the culture. As for Urban, if you're looking for more densely populated areas north of Boston, Cambridge or Somerville are both very busy and urban.

      Glad to hear you are thinking about Massachusetts, we have a lot to like in this state. When it comes time to visit or relocate, reach out to us and we can help you find a great area to live.
      The economy is still fairly strong due to the sheer amount of remote jobs available in Massachusetts. Like every state, there have been some unfortunate layoffs, but generally, our economy is protected by the essential infrastructure here. Schools are open depending on what town you live in. Some are remote, some hybrid, and others completely open for in-person.
      We are currently in phase 3 which allows for everything to be open except big concert venues etc. Outdoor gatherings are limited to 50 people (I believe). One of our team members just had his wedding and it was limited to that number.

      I‘m from Germany, 30 years old and playing with the thought of moving to Massachusetts. I‘ve never been there before but I found interest in Concord or Sudbury. But I don’t have any college degree, just a german training as industrial clerk / executive assistant. I‘m working for over 6 years now but the more I inform myself about the Boston area, the more I think I won’t be able to afford a life there? :-/ It seems way more expensive. I know that the wages are higher in the states but I recently looked for an apartment, just to get a feeling for the costs and I was shocked, that I had to pay over $1,6K for a 1-bedroom! How do you guys make it over there 😭😔

    • @danhoyland142
      @danhoyland142 3 роки тому

      Hey there, funny you say that because my dads family was the first German family to immigrate to one of the towns right where your talking about in 1952. To answer your question a lot of the people who live there have lived there for 30 years and got their house at an affordable price so the cost of living isn’t bad for them. Also, young people like yourself work at start ups and make decent money but all pile into old houses they rent and still pay a good chunk of change. I wouldn’t recommend coming here. With the changes going on and with your skill set it’s going to be harder than you think to get a job. You could try to be a Cnc machinist and get trained by the company but your going to have to really grind it out for a while to be comfortable. You could move to central ma or the shoreline but it’s run down but affordable at least.

      @@danhoyland142 Hi :) Thanks for answering. Oh man, I envy you(r family) ^^ I'm not sure which changes you are talking about but I appreciate your honesty, even though I already got the impression that life over there is way too expensive and I already thought that you might only make it when you got a college degree :-/ Everything is getting more and more expensive (not only in MA but also over here). It's a little dissapointing because I always wanted to live abroad at some point in my life and with being 30 I thought I should seriously considering, if I would do it, I should do it "now". Of course with the right preparation and everything but well, financially it probably won't be affordable to me. But hopefully for a visit at least. I will keep thinking about it anyway, but I always appreciate insights and opinions from locals, so thanks :)

      @@sophelmausStart by visiting! I definitely agree with Dan, our cost of living is very high, but there are some jobs that can match costs with wages. You could consider buying a duplex or 3-family and renting the other units to lower cost of living. Granted, that can have its own set of headaches. Matt helped my wife and I buy our 3-family north of Boston. We pay a total of $300 a month after we collect rent from the other units (that includes utilities as well).
