Great video! I grew up in Waltham (River Street/South Side) but now live in the Midwest. I'm fascinated by how newcpmers to Waltham experience/interpret it, which also goes along with how Waltham has changed over the years. Waltham is definitely cleaner & safer than it once was, but I lament the gentrification & extreme cost of living that I witness on Facebook causing the people I grew up with to leave en masse. For prospective buyers/residents: the quality & diversity of great ethnic food in Waltham is 100% legit

Another thing with the roads and winter they salt them due to the snow and ice and that salt absolutely ravages the cars. They will get rusty and become unfixable and worthless. You need to undercoat them and wash them every week

Everybody talks about how bad the traffic is in and around Boston. Something people rarely talk about is how bad the roads are. If you drive inside the 495 belt for a period of time you WILL need to replace tires, suspension components, and undercarriage trim pieces. The roads and highways are rough and falling apart, despite being under construction constantly

The winter of 2023 basely had snow. I think the year before was almost the same. The winters are not what they used to be. They never fix potholes? Where in Massachusetts do you live? South Boston? Roads could be better but maybe I'm used to it. Agree about the roads like Storrow Drive and Jamaica Way and similar - you have to be a good confident driver. The only way to get around Boston traffic is knowing the city really and that takes along time. Boston is a very difficult city to navigate.

The worst in Boston is during Daylight savings season. Having it get dark at 4pm is demoralizing. You go to work when it's dark out and you end work when it's dark out. Some weeks you don't even get to hang out during daylight.

Hey, it’s home. We have our issues but Boston and suburbs are a great place to live.

The worst things about Worcester is the crummy roads and areas run down by opiate users and criminal minded immigrants who choose to be thugs rather then work honorably for their survival. The drivers are willfully obtuse and extremely rude and entitled when criticized about their misdeeds rather then apologetic like normal honorable people. Affordable housing and less corrupt police force. Take those elements out and the city is very diverse and historic. Good colleges and quick drives to other major cities like Boston, Providence, Hartford and Springfield. So if city life is what you like, Worcester is hard to beat and is overall safer then other similar sized cities. Just needs a little bit of spit and elbow grease to get this gem to shine again.

I think every state has their own unique way of pronouncing their cities. I live in Ohio where we have a Russia and Houston that isn't pronounced ANYTHING like it's supposed to be. I grew up in Piqua, which most people out of state pronounce it "pickway" (I'll bite your head off for this one).

PS: Polish guy might have been better off coming to USA and finding cheap place to live and investing his earrings here, and retiring back in Poland. I should have spoken to him.

I'm a Louisiana native living up North now. Boston street layout is confusing. Especially the way all the streets run into each other without a stop sign or light.

The hams are easy…if the preceding syllable is a soft syllable it’s “ham”. If the preceding syllable is hard it’s “um”. Ded is a hard syllable thus it’s “um”. Stone is a strong syllable thus “um”. Walt is soft so it’s “ham” and so on

Born in Fitchburg and grew up in Winchendon which surprisingly was a good town for my childhood. Its largest employer at the time was a toilet seat factory. I earned money sanding furniture for painting in a local manufacturing plant. Most likely these old buildings are empty and these things are made in China. Fortunately, this working class poor kid from central Massachusetts got his butt out of there and made good.

Massachusetts also has a major state and local bureaucracy. Taxachusetts is definitely a common title that's thrown around and they sure do live up to it. Only Connecticut and California are worst. Most people who live in suburbia Massachusetts are elitist and unfortunately intolerable to most fun activities once revered, like snow mobiles, side by sides, dirt bikes, go carts, etc. They prefer electric, not only quieter but better on the fumes into the environment. Western Massachusetts is a better suit for this. Half of Central Massachusetts and all the Southeast and Northeast metro Boston area is where more elitism, draconian rules and intolerable neighbors are rampant. Other then that Massachusetts has some wonderful, loyal hardworking people and extremely beautiful landscapes and rich in the most history of significance. I've lived in Massachusetts for 21 years and it's definitely a love hate relationship but there are very few states as beautiful and convenient as the bay state. The economy is booming and needed infrastructure repair is being addressed and competition from close by neighboring states makes Massachusetts a hard state to overlook for residency in the Northeast. Only New Hampshire and Maine are better overall IMO. Non the less Massachusetts is the best commonwealth next to Pennsylvania ✌🏽♥️
