I lived in Eastie while doing my undergrad at Berklee College of Music back in 2001 and it was at that time a lot of fun but did have its challenges. People did not want to visit me because of the tunnel traffic and tolls and, of course, the parking situation. However, I loved that I could hop on the Blue Line and up to Revere Beach so easily. Plus, it's close to Winthrop and the beaches which are gorgeous. What's also great about living in Boston, Eastie or other neighborhoods, is how easy it is to use the T. All lines connect very easily and I had no problem working in the Back Bay and living in East Boston. I lived on Meridian St. and would you believe my rent was $700/month. I had to move when I started grad school at BU since I worked during the day and went to school at night - I moved to Allston which is another great Boston neighborhood. It nice to see the transformation but it did have a great sense of community when I lived there. Too bad that has been dissipating.

Not true that it was a lot of immigrants. I was born and raised on everett st which is jefferies point. From the 1950's-1980'S it was mainly Italians and Irish. but that changed in the 90's

I'm life long/2nd generation Eastie and that Waterfront you keep showing to those that grew up here, that's part of the Maverick Neighborhood. I'd consider anything past Bremen St to be Jeffries Point Maverick Station, Lewis Mall to Lopresti Park is Maverick. Then there's Central Square, Day Square. Wood Island Station to Orient Heights Station is Orient Heights. East Boston has always been a working class town, which now being pushed out and displaced! My family is blessed we're to still be here! But we're struggling. All the development is bitter sweet, beautifying areas that very much needed it but at the cost of the hard working people that live here just getting by! On top of it these developments are creating traffic, parking issues and over populating schools in an already congested space! The development going up on Bremen and brook st supposed have, what 110 units and retail space and 64 space parking garage, banking on people not wanting or having a car. And the street parking being bumper to bumper to the point cars take chances blocking driveways and street corners. And that water from during bad storms has been flooding to almost a full block inland. East Boston is a nice place to live (best views of Boston) and should be affordable and accessible for EVERYONE. More and more it becoming not the case!

It's not a fun topic but definitely an important discussion in Eastie and the way things are changing here

What are the regulations with airBNB specifically sharing a room, and or leasing out part of your house/apartment? Is it completely free to do what you want? Or are there some things to know?

Boston is freezing cold. It's nice to live there in the spring and summer.

Very true. Especially cold near the water where it's windy like parts of Eastie and Seaport.
