Hello and thank you for the awesome video content! I am trying to decide between these two GR1 and GR2 26L sized bags, however I have a question for you if I may. Which of these two bags do you feel would be a better size for a personal size item for airplane travel? I currently have a GR2 40L in wolf grey for all my carry on item needs and ABSOLUTELY love it, but really also love the heritage editions for both the GR1 and GR2 and would like to purchase one or the other as a personal sized item bag. I believe most airlines seem to have an average personal item size limit of 18x14x8, so do you think one of these bags may be a better option than the other? Thank you again!!
I’ve used both of these on a plane and they fit just fine. I personally like the GR2 version because it gives me more options and fits better on my back.
I can't really tell a difference between the GR2 26 and 34. When I put them together. 26L just sounds like it would be too small to actually utilize all the internal compartments, so the comparision is great.
fantastic video - thank you for such great work. For someone 5'7, is the GR1 26L too tall? For my needs (plane and train travel and getting to hotels), I don't really need the extra pocket of the GR2 so I'm just focused on which one might fit my frame better. I've seen a number of people say they prefer the slimmer GR1 for urban walking (e.g., train stations/ airports), b/c they said the GR2 stuck out too much. But a number of smaller people have said the GR1's height is not comfortable for them. Looking for a 24-26L bag. Considered CPL24 but afraid of the low back issue and weight. Thanks so much and all the best!
It really is all about how far you plan to go while wearing the backpack. Short distances...the taller GR1 would be ok. I'm 5'9" and I travel often with the GR1 26L. But if you are at all concerned and plan to wear it for longer periods of time then the shorter bag GR2 would fit better.
Hmm. Really tough and they’re all great. I’d say this question is 99% personal choice. Can’t beat the OG 1000D! But the only one I’m not super keen on is ripstop for a GR1
Thanks for making this video! Cool to see how the different configurations pack out. I want to get one do-it-all bag from minimal travel to EDC. Would the 26L GR2 be too big for EDC?
I’ve got both. I’d say the 26L GR2 would be a great versatile bag. When you use it for EDC it won’t be quite as full and won’t be as plump as it was shown here.
The GR2 is the most versatile. But my most common response: it depends on how much C is in your EDC. I use the bullet for EDC because my daily carry requirements are minimal and the Kaidan with the stash pocket is perfect for that.
@@JBOutside1 My EDC also tend to be fairly minimal. I'll most likely only end up using the laptop compartment and the quick access field pouch for my EDC on the GR2. And a flat Memo bottle in the front pouch. As long as the GR2 isn't too floppy when the main compartment is empty, I dont mind having a little extra unused space.
Serious question. All my GR1s are 26L. I'm your same size but at times it almost feels like the the 21L looks like it would be fit too small. I don't seem to feel that way with the 20L. How much do you use your 21L? Do you use your 21L a lot?
I had the GR2 40l. As for capacity, way too big for me. That extra front compartment was nice and useful though but not a must. Now I use the Workshop 26l Slick for travel. Very happy with it.
@@JBOutside1 The Kaidan.. Awesome! I also had the normal Bullet 15, but I sold it. Now I kinda regret it... a bit. And thanks for the video, I enjoyed it.
Advice: I just noticed that on my brand new GR2 26L the molle on the front and sides aren't perfectly aligned. Flaw? Normal? Forgedaboutit? Sit and stare at it and be annoyed?
I can’t guarantee they won’t but 500D will be better compared to 1000D. I haven’t tried merino vs the 500D. A Rucker has 210D in all the contact points so you could also go that route.

Gotcha! Thanks Dylan
Loved the video…just ordered my gr2 in MCB.
Love that bag!!
Please do a GR2 34 vs 40 load out please! This video is awesome
In the works!
@@JBOutside1 Yes, please!
Filmed. I’ll post it on Friday.
@@JBOutside1 Awesome.

@ thanks JB. Very helpful. I really appreciate the reply. Have a great w/e.
Hey JB, whats your favorite fabric for the GR’s? Heritage, Dyneema, ripstop or the cordura?

Awesome 🙌🏻. The GR2 26l MCB is beautiful 🤩
👊🏻
This is perfect! I have always wondered if they were the same!
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
Is the depth of the GR2 really only 7.25 inches that they quote on their website? It looks a LOT deeper than that when you have it packed out!
The way it's built you can certainly stuff this thing beyond the dimensions!
@@JBOutside1 Thanks! Sounds like in practice it’s much bigger then haha

I use the 21Ls almost all the time. I only have two 26L and only use them for long weekend travel. Too tall for my torso for daily use.

Slick bags are very cool for travel, who needs all that Molle anyway?
@@JBOutside1 True. And I meant Slick. Corrected. For edc I use occasionally my 9 yo Echo.
@@errydm Absolutely. For EDC I go between the Radio Ruck and the Kaidan Bullet.
@@JBOutside1 The Kaidan.. Awesome! I also had the normal Bullet 15, but I sold it. Now I kinda regret it... a bit. And thanks for the video, I enjoyed it.
Even without the stash pocket, any 15L is the perfect EDC/day hike size for me. I was always overstuffing the 10L

If it’s going to bug you I would snap a pic and send to customer service. They’ll take care of you I’d think. Or just return and and exchange
@@JBOutside1 thanks so much. I know it’s silly. Didn’t want to bug them if it was normal…and I know you know your stuff!
@@seechangenyc280 You spent too much money on that beautiful bag to have it bug you.
No surprise the GR2 26L is the winner 👏👏
😎
I like the videos. Keep it up.
Thanks Daryl!
For both Are main zippers ykk USA made ?
No, looks like Taiwan
@@JBOutside1 thanks
GR2 26L is 🔥 brother awesome
Thanks JB!
😀
what are the best packing cubes for GR1?
Any really, but the GORUCK FULL 10L is a favorite. The EVERGOODS 8L is also good. My go-to packing cubes though are the Peak Designs
😮what do you put your extra pair of shoes in?
Nothing. Just put them in the bottom. Everything else is in cubes.
Thanks
Will 500d cordura damage my merino tshirts?

I'm looking for a gr2 and can't decide on 26l or 34l. What to get?
Travel or EDC?
