- Thank you for joining me on another abandoned building exploration. Today we are exploring this huge abandoned apartment building called Huron Place apartments in East Cleveland, Ohio. There's burnt cars inside this building and the overall condition is poor due to scrappers.

Built in 1961, renovated in 1973, suffered frozen pipes which leaked and destroyed the electrical and heating system as well as most of the tenant's belongings, in 2013. It sounds like the owners sucked. This one I support the scrappers. If the owners don't want to maintain their property, they deserve to lose their investment. Too bad for the people who lived there though. It looks like it was a nice building.
+Max Zomboni The owner probably made a fortune from the hospital employees as tenants. Sitting somewhere living it up without a care in world.
Yep, they are just greedy bastards. They want to sit down there in Florida, take in all that rent money and not even maintain the property. I have had so many landlords like that.
Seriously, these delinquent property owners should be arrested and tried for a crime instead of merely being sued! The city of East Cleveland which is a low income and high crime area, will most likely be on the hook for the full cost of the eventual demolition, which is estimated at $2 million. According to a local news story the property owner already owes $1 million in back taxes and fees to the city! wviz.ideastream.org/programs/ideas/abandoned-apartment-tower-in-east-cleveland-could-cost-2-million-to-demolish
I'll bet if he was arrested and faced a prison sentence, he would MAGICALLY come up with the money for the taxes and demolition. White collar crime in this country is a joke, rich assholes do what they want and it's always the poor and middle class who pick up the cost for their greed.
This place use to be really nice. I bought a silver 1979 Corvette from someone who use to live there. I got it in 1989 right after I got out of the Navy in San Diego and moved to Mogadore. I remember the ad was in the paper and I drove up to check it out. Bought it the next day. Sold it about 3 years later. Sad to see the place ended up looking like this.
its east Cleveland, nothing looks nice there...
With the lack of affordable housing for the elderly and the poor, this is disgraceful
This building was abandoned due to slum landlord. It used to be a very beautiful building until it was bought by slumlords who would not repair anything. Then they walked away from the building and left it. It cost over $1million to level that building in the city does not have that kind of money. It is only 14,000 residents that reside in the city of East Cleveland. That City is poor but it’s still home to me.
Slumlords thats the problem lol smh
Who owns it now East Cleveland?
@@billtomlinson5701 smh lmao. Real estate appraiser here in northeast Ohio and I can confirm everything she said is 100% accurate. Slumlord rented to low quality tenants > got tax breaks on depreciation > didn't maintain the building > deferred maintenance led to functional obsolescence.
One of my friends from high school lived in that building in the 80's. It was a nice building in it's day.
That's what I hear. Its unfortunate the city let it rot.
Oh when is timexsuppose to expire and why does it have to come to this like so many others
Sad that it wasn’t maintained. We need more public housing not less 😰😢
"copper. you know it's that orange shit." lol
That guy was funny.
I've always wanted to explore that place, but was terrified of going alone. Thanks for the video.
The potholes on that street is soooooo bad, its against the law to drive down it now.
They haven't fixed it yet?
nope. its do not enter signs on both end of where that building and hospital use to be.
😂😂😂💯
You got massive balls man. Going into that building by yourself
Ruben Junior I went in there plenty of times alone lol😂
Yeah, it would be even more dangerous at night.
@@SCP049darkness That's when all the fun happens at night..
Looks like a high rise that exclusively houses zombies.
How. It's abandoned...
I can’t believe how destroyed this place is, yet the smoke detectors are still chirping.
This is East Cleveland. I actually used to deliver mail here during a time when drugs were terrible in that area. This place was a very terrible place. I used to hate doing that route.
You need to start wearing some thick soled work boots.
+slebdad I do must of the time. It would be the day I wear chucks, i step on a nail
Glad to hear you have a pair Dane. Those nails can be a killer for sure.
@@UrbexDane I see some urban explorers in FLIP FLOPS. Glad you have more sense! This is a good video without shaking or annoying music. Thanks for posting it.
I was reading this comment at the exact spot where he takes the nail out his shoe😅
And carrying a concealed pistol wouldn’t be a bad idea either.
I used to live there in 04 in apartment 414 left the building because i needed a bigger apartment, but at the time i was living there it was in really good condition, but when i seen Huron place apartment in 2011 it was all bad and all kinds of major issues, poor conditions water leaks, holes in the wall and. Mice, bugs omg alot more,I could not believe that building went down that far wow.and who ever did this video it's not in Cleveland it's in East Cleveland,Ohio.
CAROLYN LEWIS hello Carolyn,
TODD
Um east Cleveland IS in fact in Cleveland my dude
🤦🏻♀️ it’s 2 different cities. East Cleveland is east of the city Cleveland.
@@gracefulvirgo7448 thank you
CAROLYN LEWIS I had an uncle and aunt who lives there from 05-07. They moved because they had constant water and heating issues that the owner refused to repair. When they first moved in their apartment was decent. Side note it truly bothers my soul when people confuse the 2 and swear they’re right.
This place was completely renovated about 1998-1999. Every unit from top to bottom. Had a few friends that stayed here. That whole section is now blocked off.
Shit sick I remember this was a good building when huron was accross the street ... Once they left it was a wrap
I wonder how many bodies are hidden inside
@Chanel West, That's what the burnt out cars are for. Crematoriums.
At first it seemed to me all the windows were removed usually a sign of impending demolition........then I realized EVERY window was smashed and the frames stolen for scrap. every window is busted out that is insane. Nice job on the exploration, I enjoyed!
+bryan1282 Thanks Bryan
+bryan1282
The scrappers did an unbelievably efficient job! If they put their minds to it, they could form a legal demolition company and make money that way.
@@SergeantExtreme, Yep. You can tell the scrappers weren't lazy. It took a lot of hard work to get that scrap metal out of that place. Of course, they probably just dropped it to the ground, then drove the truck around picking it up!
'thought the dam weave was a rat' so funny 😂😂😂😂😂, great drone shots 👍
+lucie hamilton I was so angry a weave made my heart skip a beat. Gotta watch out for weaves now 😀
I can just see the new tv series now When weaves attack !!!!!!!! LOL
I'm surprised the weaves weren't the first thing they'd grab on the way out.
wow, only abandoned for 2 years and look like that......
It's in east cleveland, if you abandon your house it won't take longer than 2 months for people to start getting into it out there. 2 months after abandonment it'd be burnt out.
I think he said seven yrs but still OMG.
Homeless people and crackheads go there and trash it
My 2 great aunt's lived here back in the late 70s early 80s. I loved visiting them because the building was so beautiful
Notice how much furniture was left behind? After living in the area for a while and speaking with former residents one of the many causes (aside from lousy management) for the demise of this building was a massive bedbug infestation.
Nearby places like Lake Park Towers that are still pretty nice have active management and security. That and they won't take cash for rent. This place was a one stop shop back in the day for anything you needed -- even before the hospital closed. As in... Limos, Town Cars, and suitcases kind of drug deals.
Can't wait for the next video!
+Paul Kastner Thats so cool to hear from someone in the area. I didn't know about the bedbug situation. Yikes I would leave everything behind also. Thanks for commenting.
After watching your video a contractor friend mentioned that the parking garage is leaking and has structural issues. Easy $500,000 to repair.
I actually considered moving here in 1980(?) once I was teaching. Back then, living here was considered ‘making it’ in EC. Nearby parks and trails were a plus. It hurts my heart to see this once wonderful building in this condition.
That building started looking like that 2 weeks after it closed😔
Imagine just grouping up clean that shit ourselves, make it look like new..... On our own....
Beautiful thought.
Much love to Ohio.
You should have way more votes
Get to work
My old Hood!
Left for good in 1992
CLE -CHI I use to stay there
Why did you leave?
I'm from EC too🙂
hell, i lived on woodlawn for 5 years... AS AN ADULT LOL
It started gotten bad that Early 90s?
Your seeing more and more of these places abandoned. As the economy fails so does the structure a glimpse of things to come
This the comment that needs upvotes.
True especially now with this virus situation
This used to be a nice building, at one time you had to have a job and money to get into that building.
YES, I remembered that and that was many years ago.
Is it Huron Place Apartment complex.
Hilarious. I find it funny that you said "you had to have a a job...", to get in there. That's the way it's supposed to be. All these people out there thinking they are entitled.
@@goingbonkerswithmyhonkers9374 If you don't have to work for what you want and depend on taxpayers to support you, you have no incentive to do anything except destroy. Take a look at Detroit.
@@cathybyrd5329 Truth hurts?
13204 is another Gem on Euclid..look at the homes history...I know the owner...I can get you in..its vacant and had a Rockefeller connection
Sheila do you have a Instagram account?
Urbex Dane I do i think it’s under my name...sheila Sharpley....but if not it’s under sheilaeast2 ....I’m ole...my son set me up lol....if not my email address is sheilaeast2@gmail.com
sheila sharpley I think the Demonic Rockefeller connection is why East Cleveland is what it is today. The reason this city never recovers.
The newspaper as cabinet lining and door frame decoration is frightening
Somebody was crazy as hell.
This was my home for a while this place use to jump.$$$. Shout out to my E.C soldiers.
I think this was the same building that my Aunt Rose and Uncle Hank lived in, in the 60's and 70's! It was beautiful back then...
Rose worked as a nurse at the hospital years ago.
Your videos are getting better and better!! Great editing and footage! Good job! I can't believe you are about to hit 6k!! 😱😱😱😱 keep it up my friend
+Serena Thanks😀 much love.
I just can't believe how quick a building can decay in such a short amount of time.
ohio winters
Nice job with the drone 👌🏼 place is huge that doll at the beginning 😨 I got lost last time I went to a building this size. Great explore
+Tracy Explores Thanks Tracy. Getting lost is so frustrating.
Half of East Cleveland looks like this.
That used to be a beautiful apartment building and right across from that was the Huron Road Hospital and Cleveland Clinic owned it and after all the renovations they demolished it. Also that is in the city of East Cleveland, Ohio
East Cleveland used to be beautiful. It’s a shame now. Whole streets with abandoned apartment buildings, and houses.
Listening to the happy springtime chorus of the birds outside so soothing and soul healing ! 🐣🐥🐔💯
Wow I did service calls there in the 80's. Amazing to see it trashed completely
in the UK. in the country when buildings are abandoned they are torn down. I wonder why in the USA they leave them to rot and make the area look like shite???
Cuz the government don't get them the banks do
Costs money to tear them down so they get left
Well it depends on the city. Some cities they tear them down others they dont.
No money to tear it down. This is East Cleveland. At one time, one of the wealthiest suburbs in America.
Less graffitti than expected. Also a lot more furniture left behind than expected. I wonder who the last tenant was leaving the building, never to return...
that building is not real old and never ceases to amaze me how some people can destroy things faster than you can fix it up because its not there property they don't care i started out with nothing and live in the same house for 30 years but the house has doubled in value because i fix it up
Blame the landlords for takings people hard earned money while having them live in squalor, before the landlords let this place goto shit it was an decent place to live
The whole building looks like a set from the walking dead
Is this America, or Lebanon? Hard to tell!
Its Cleveland
@Stephanie Logan Only in the Midwest of course. Not the entire country. You don't see this in Seattle and Denver right? Right! So the right answer is the Midwest
Difference is if this was Lebanon there would be people still living in the building.
Lebanon looked that way because of wars! The only war EC had, was the drug war🙄🤕
No it's just Cleveland, Ohio
1 major thing about this building if you did not take notice it has 13 floors that is why this building is no good
You should wear steel toe workboots, hard hat, mask, and/or goggles, and gloves when you're exploring abandoned buildings!
I went into a huge abandoned apartment building in New Orleans but it wasn't even as big as this place (14-story building), it was still a bad azz place to check out
*_AMAZING!!!!_*
*Beautiful* drone footage of the building at the start.
What happened for this building to be abandoned? Looks like it was a nice apartment until vandals and scrappers ruined it.
Were all of the windows smashed out, or removed? Did you even find one intact? It is weird seeing all of the units open to the outside.
18:25 . . . Toilet with the best view in town!
Dane - You are very bold to explore a place like this alone... including the basement and parking garage. Always a possibility for dubious individuals. Be careful, dude!!
+LakeNipissing I'm glad you like drone shots. The apartments housed many of the Huron Hospital employees. Work was within walking distance. I'm sure that saved them a ton of money and time. When the hospital left so did the employees. Maintenance issues and poor management was the downfall. Not to mention the owner was delinquent (hope I spelled that right) on the taxes. Scrappers seen a big pot of gold. Removing all windows to throw whatever is valuable outside. Why carry it downstairs 😒. There's a video of guy standing outside while a scrapper was removing a window. Creative I guess lol
Thanks for the information.
19:34 . . . Whatever could be thrown out of the building, was!!!
I love taking "infinity" stairway photos like your video at 18:00.
@@UrbexDane thanks for the info. I was wondering about the windows being completely gone too. Weird thing is a lot of the glass looks like it is on the inside of the rooms like it blew in instead of on the outside (except for the stairwell panes on the ground). Great shots of it all though
So many memories n that building
The camera work of the block & the music really set it off . better than TV SUBSCRIBED
Thanks Lomas
East Cleveland is no place to F around
Reppin the 216
My cat is very confused by all the bird sounds in this video
+Billy Dean haha!
It pains me to think as these buildings become empty there left to rot rather then opened up to the homeless kind of shows just how much society would rather just forget them then give them a leg up.
It's a sad sad world we live in bro.
Copper is "that orange shit", LOL !!
The room covered in newspapers was awesome. Someone was in there high as a giraffes ass
Good morning man why you didn't have no gloves on just be careful 👍
YES. DEFINITELY a Gloves situation. Especially after learning about water damage- there has to be mold there, too.
Man I use to drive from Akron to Cleveland all the time to play basketball in the hoods of Cleveland and I'll tell you what. It doesn't take long for these buildings to look like this!
Bed bug heaven..
sealed the cracks against bugs @ 15 minutes in- the newspapers
Parts of the east side of Cleveland used to be nice when I was a kid. I lived close to the Slavic Village area. Now it's not that great anymore. My father's old car repair shop has bullet holes in the siding.
Ohio was such a nice state before the drug culture happened in the 80’s
Drone shots on point Dane! Great video bro
+Harmin vlogs Thanks Harmin. Safe travels abroad...try not to get sick again
Thanks man. Definitely try not to. haha. Will be heading your direction around December so would love collaborating with you and Hunter
Cleveland is beautiful this time of year
Dude was very helpful in the beginning. Orange copper is good shrimp!
"Cawpper, that orange shit" 😂😂
+Colin Dohezy 😂 I wanted to bust out laughing when he said that. Each time it got worse. Funny encounter.
lmao I knew a guy in our fly fishing club, he was from Boston. He drove a cah, very fah in Mahch. Lost his cahkeez. Would look at the stahz. We pull his chain about it, but he laughed with us.
My mother had a friend that lived in this building back in the 90s. My mom used to watch her son. I can't remember her name but the kids name was Christopher
I would hate to live close to that place because you know drugs are being done there all the time. You really should have someone go with you into places like this. You never know when you will come across someone and they will rob you. Maybe even kill you for you camera equipment and money.
+Ken Williamson You're right. I definitely need another person to go exploring with me.
No worries here -- and I'm being serious. This place was more dangerous when it was occupied.
He seems to always have his guardian angel with him
Ken Williamson have a gun ..lol
Ken Williamson it barely be people there tho I stay rht next door to it literally 😂😂
Thanks for the videos, your videos are the best Urbex I've seen along with Dan Bell's stuff. Urbex videos to me are very interesting resources; documenting the disarray and decay of modern society and whatnot
+acidindoctrination Thanks, that means a lot. Dan Bell is awesome
East Cleveland (not the east side) has went completely down hill. I used to be scared driving through East Cleveland. I lived on the East side of Cleveland and I miss it
Back in the 70's we use to hang out at this place with some Africans and get 'half-baked'. Drone footage was tight. Be careful out here in these spots. This is the notorious EC.
Get some boots and gloves brother
7:40 I wouldn't have been wearing no chuccs going thru a building I wuda had sum steel toes on
Urbex Dane I was expecting to see a hoard of zombies please be careful love your videos
Well damn, I fixed some windows and replaced bathroom mirrors on more than two or three occasions in that building @0:27 just up the street, on top of that little hill there on the right side of the road back in 2001, I worked for Castle Glass in Warrensville Heights back then, and the abandoned building had tenants livin in it back then as well....man I cannot believe what's happened to Cleveland, especially East Cleveland, since I moved away in Aug 2002, liberal policies and those in power who enforce those policies are to blame for this travesty....
It looked like a nice building at one time....Was that a housing project or low income housing? And what in God's name happened to the place?! (I've never been to Ohio, so I don't know the area....) Nice video but I don't think that he should've gone in there alone. He could've gotten hurt or something-God forbid-& nobody would know where to find him....I think that he also should've been wearing boots & gloves, & carried a weapon on him....
And what is the name of this abandoned building?
He was in my old apartment. the 2nd red carpet one.
nice job. i liked the drone shots and the description. thanks for posting :)
Your video quality is amazing. You earned my sub bro
+BrandonTS95 HD Thanks Brandon im glad you decided to subscribe. I hope you stick around
No doubt, your quality as i mentioned is great. Good info and great video. Keep it up man
Damn. What a waste. Looks like it was a nice apartment building at one point.
Hey, it's a phonebook, I remember when those used to serve a purpose! Abandoned backgammon boards seems to be the trend in videos lately, not sure how that happened!
+539 Productions Lol! Do we need phonebooks anymore.
They are still delivered here every year here in Cleveland ... Weird hunh??
What a blight that building is on that neighborhood! I can't believe people aren't complaining. Surprised also that the city hasn't taken it over by imminent domain and bulldozed it. Probably the cost I guess. Great video Dane!
What the heck is wrong with Cleveland? I thought Highpoint North Carolina was bad with empty houses but this is just insane.
This is not the whole city
This is East Cleveland, not Cleveland. Separate cities.
A lot of former manufacturing cities look like this, now. No jobs, cold winters, young people move away.
Urbex Dane, it's my first time to watch your videos. God bless 😇 you in your undertakings. Good luck.
Thanks a million for your likes to my comments. God bless 😇 you always.
i live in the UK GB these videos are brilliant to watch thank you.
2:40 Cool Graffiti !
Cleveland seems similar to Chernobyl lol
Those vandals are something else. You do a great job . Find good places to film.
I lived there thru the sixty’s and it was so nice!
3 stop lights away are some very beautiful HIGH QUALITY homes with great yards. So sad. East Cleveland, where this is, is an armpit of Ohio. And, there are 2 East Clevelands. 95% is crap and 5% can match up to any suburb or better.
My mothers use to live in that building back in the 90s and it was a dump then, but she didnt stay there long and my sister stayed their too back in 92, a friend was killed by a cracked head ,east cleve and is a dump
There are more empty houses than homeless people throughout America. We need to use common sense and make changes.
Both my sisters lived there
'Creepy', Perfect said, for very creepy...
Such a big building, so much potential. Sad.
Massive place and a thrilling video! The aerials in the beginning are fantastic! Great work!
Nice! Keep it up!
First few minutes reminds me of the aerial shot in Candyman.
I would be so afraid of someone just walking up to you and taking your shit.
+trina crawford It crosses my mind.
Stay tough and smart dude. We appreciate.
IT.S VERY CREEPY.A LOT OF THANKS AND KISSES FROM SPAIN.MARÍA.
Time to dynamite this building
I am surprised you went to my hood and felt safe. Good video stay safe
Hey! I'm new here - I studied conservation at university here in Australia so I'm fascinated by your channel. Super glad I found you
+Soxx What's up Soxx? I love the name. Cool you found me somehow...i hope you decide to stick around.
Good Video and Really like the drone shots 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Seeing cars still there was surreal. The waste (both the real estate and vehicles) is enormous and disgusting. It saddens me that they’ll surely stall demolition because of contracts or some bs while this property festers drugs and crime. Be careful out here
