I really love how in-depth you get for these. You do such a good job of covering his best moves, gameplan, combo game, etc. in such a relatively short amount of time for each segement. The Melee and Brawl segments were especially informative, and it's cool hearing about your mark on history. Great job, Larry, and I'd love to see more of these!
Fun fact about power shielding sending back projectiles (@1:48) : They actually have included it again in a smash game! It's in Smash Ultimate! Unfortunately, only as a purchasable upgrade in World of Light.
This video was next to a false swipe gaming video which is funny coincidence since this was their idea a while bac Sick vid and knowledge esp like things for brawl
1:50 Asumsaus (regarded as one of the best Melee Content Creators of all time) has a really cool video explaining why Falco's laser isn't always great. Because it generates knockback, it can be SDI'd. Usually this isn't a big deal, but with his up throw and back throw (both of which has Falco shoot a laser at the opponent after throwing them) thrown opponents can both DI the throw and then SDI the laser, allowing them to either create distance or shorten it at will.
The best possible person to talk about falco history. Fantastic video. BDACUS and the gatling combo (dash attack into instant upsmash) which are my favorite smash techs of all time because its the first ones I learned before I picked up PM and melee and hold a special place in my heart
Sakurai and the creative team captured Falco’s personality and fighting style so well despite having virtually no source material, he’s such a cool character.
Could not ask for a better person to give us the history of Falco in smash than the man formerly known as DEHF (Does Everyone Hate Falco). Absolute legend.
Great vid, also love that the DEHF lore cause I feel like there are people out there who didn't know that was you. Idk if there is a vid made but I think it would be cool if you talked about your melee career and the wins you achieved with falco or how you even got that tag.
Fun fact: RCO lag still exists in ultimate but only on a select few moves for some reason. I only know this because it affects my main (Marth). Loved the vid and would like to see one for other characters such as Fox
Larry there’s lots of videos about it! I think if you look up “Fox competitive history in melee” you’ll find something. In short though, back in the day fox was the best theoretical character, but no one could get consistent sets with him. Falco was more consistent and sheik and marth were dominant. But there’s the story of Chillin’ who basically created fox moveflows that were consistent and deadly. He walked so Armada could run
Fabulous vid! Great work Larry! Gotta say I would be extremely interested in a Peach video in this style, but lookin forward to whatever you put out next!
Good video. I'm pretty "anti spacey" in melee but aware that that is due to my low level of knowledge as a non-player. This helps me differentiate Falco from Fox in Melee. And while I don't mind spaceys in ultimate I need all the help I can get following that game with all those characters.
Watching fox and falco being played in melee, you can tell they have totally different play styles despite sharing animations on their moves. The properties on their moves are so different. IMO melee falco is the coolest character in any smash game.
Brawl Falco is one of the most enioyable characters in the entire franchise to control. Dude just has a glide to his movement and double laser is never not gonna be one of the most enjoyable things to perform. Honestly while it was a nerf I still loved the reflector change. Super unique and a rly fun neutral tool.
The one change I didn’t like from smash 4 to ultimate was reducing the hitbox size of falco’s nair. I don’t think a lot of people knew about this but in smash 4, you used to be able to use the move defensively by drifting back and it would beat out moves like bayo side b without having to turn around. I used to abuse it a lot in smash 4
Falco was seen as better than fox in early melee mainly because of a player called PC Chris who was a top player and usually played Falco and some fox but most of his big wins especially MLG 2006 and for his move set being more easier for lower level play (not saying they were bad just not experienced enough which makes sense)
That doesn't seem to be true since PC Chris wasn't a super notable player until around 2006 and the tier list I'm referring to was made in 2002. Despite PC Chris getting good wins with Falco, Fox was still consider better at that time.
There was a short period in 2007 where Falco was considered better, but for (almost) Melee's entire lifespan Fox has been considered the best character.
@@LarryLurr Oh fair enough, also thanks for replying Larry, love your videos especially your melee ones as I’m a melee player but love your ultimate ones as I think it’s a cool game and yeah, love you man ❤️

No pal is still a spike but it similar to how they changed meteors in brawl it’s only his first 14 frames is the spike the rest are sour spots like how brawl falcos (Which the clean hits only in 8 frames)
Larry Lurr when talking about DEHF: "Well of course I know him. He's me."
FUN LARRY FACT: Larry mained Falco in melee and Brawl and has used Falco in every single smash game he’s featured in
7:39. Thanks larry for putting me in the vid lol. I remember that match vs mikehaze lol. Falco's grounded illusion cancel was broken. -SK

Loved your stories of competing in the Brawl days!
This is one of your best videos. No one knows Falco like Larry. So well researched and I love hearing some DEHF lore
i love you Larry Lurr you make everyones lives better
1:37 I like that touch with the confirm sound for the term (and the back sound for the one nobody uses)
Smash is beautiful, thank you Larry.

Great insight on the brawl meta and some of the competitive storylines of that period, the world needs more brawl content!!!
And in this video we’ll go over these competitive formats

Great video Larry, it was well-researched. I too hope the next smash gives Falco even more buffs since he's my favorite character to play.

Falco is F tier because his name starts with the letter F
This is an indisputable fact.
Shouldn’t Fox be F tier then?
The F stands for Featherkin
F stands for "Fuck around and find out"
And also because he has Feathers
Melee falco is my favourite character to play in the whole series, he just feels right.
Thanks again dehf, you’ve been a great man for so long.

Brawl Falco Plays Like a Boss Character.
Projectiles do bounce off of power shields in ultimate, though many times at odd angles
had no idea brawl falco was this nuts

Is there going to be another video for Falco in Smash64?
now I'm wondering, why did you change your tag to LarryLurr? and why this specific tag, what does it stand for?

Does Everybody Hate Falco?
All you need to know about Falco is that he was a God in Melee and castrated after that.
Finally
Bird.
can you do a game and watch one jhes been my main since melee but i dont play ultimate because i know hes pretty hated in that game

Wasn't power shielding in every game, or is that just perfect shielding?
Nah. Power shielding is melee-specific and reflects projectiles at 0.5x damage/knock-back.
@Honest Content you have some competition
THAT AINT FALCO
