Finally someone else says this. His current up tilt is like the worst up tilt ever. He needs that old up smash as his up tilt he'd be bumped up one space on the tier list with it
snake would be even more frustrating to play against than he is rn lol. i like that its a super cool unique smash attack, dont get me wrong, but im glad its gone.
Here’s my idea: make a hold button scenario. If you hold down B while grounded he plants the proc mine, but tap is still C4. You can have both on field but proc can’t be activated manually similar to Brawl. Nerfs in exchange would include up tilt kill power being cut a good bit, the proc requiring 15 frames to activate, and slight damage nerfs to dair and nair.
Wings of Icarus is actually MORE accurate to how Pit flies in Uprising, so cutting one of the coolest movement options ever had literally no justification.
The Wings of Icarus are defined by having an unlimited amount of flight, at the control of no one but yourself. The Power of Flight has much less control in comparison, because your flight path is at the behest of a deity.
The first time I played Ultimate after years of maining Pit in Brawl I immediately died to the changes in moveset, and was so upset at the loss of a really cool recovery move for a bog-standard launch upwards
The other thing that stung about Pit losing Wings of Icarus is that even considering the transition Pit was making from his classic version to his updated Uprising appearance, Wings of Icarus might have been more faithful. The swap to Power of Flight was meant to represent the aerial portion of the various chapters of Kid Icarus Uprising, which is an on-rails flight mode akin to Star Fox gameplay, but the way Wings of Icarus controlled feels more in-line with how it felt to control Pit during those segments.
It was probably more of a balance change, they may have thought his recovery was way too good with Icarus wings, which to be fair would put him on par with like MK in modern games but I still miss it too
Charizards Rock Smash in brawl was crazy, the move did way more damage, (a maximum of 48% if you hit the headbutt and all the rock shards) it killed, it did a ton of shield damage, and it had a unique property similar to Sephiroths counter where the rock would spawn frame 1 and if a character hit it, it would explode and hit them. It's a very different move than Smash 4's version which is still good but it was heavily nerfed.
@@deadheat1635I heard it’s both a reference to Luigi being in Mario’s shadow but also a reference to the Negative World glitch in the original Mario Bros (thus the name Negative Zone), something that Waluigi was not a part of Personally I think Waluigi’s Mega Strike from Mario Striker’s Charged would make a killer final smash for him
Ganon’s Smash 4 up-smash should be made his new up-tilt, replacing Volcano Kick, and he should keep the new up-smash he got in Ultimate. He’d go from bottom tier to mid tier, I’m sure of it
I don't know if I'd go as far to say that he'd move up the tier list significantly, but it certainly couldn't hurt him. And the reason why I'm doubtful it would help him that much is because it just gives Ganon another strong up close tool while not covering his glaring flaws being his poor recovery, slow speed, and lack of good out of shield options. Honestly, I'm not even convinced this change would even stop him from being the worst character in the game, though I think it would at least get him in the same tier as the other low tiers.
@@drakejoshofficialyoutubech5569Yes, this. It would undeniably make him a stronger character, but saying it moves him to the middle of the tier list (going up 20+ characters) is just insane. If you said it would bring him to maybe to the bottom of low tier I could see an argument, but it still doesn't cover any of his weaknesses just makes him better at what he does.
It would not make him mid tier in any shape or form. At best it would be a QoL change (no longer being stuck in a 90 frame animation). The reason it wouldn't help Ganon in Ultimate is the exact same reason it didn't help him in Sm4sh; he's a slow mid range character and usm4sh is a close range pressure tool. In a game significantly more centralized around movement than Sm4sh he'd hardly ever find a time to use it. He has arguably the best usmash in the game now and it does everything usm4sh did but better and only at the cost of no end lag. MockRock should've talked to more Ganon mains because Melee Ganon's jab, Brawl Ganon's dair, Sm4sh tipman and fsmash are in much higher demand than Sm4sh's usmash.
11:53 Something I'll add for Koopa Klaw is that on top of having 2 throws, it also gives Bowser grab release followups. Normally an opponent can just hold up on Bowsers grab and they'll get an aerial release that prevents him from getting followups, while Koopa Klaw will always ground release. This lets KK confirm into another grab, up-b, or up-tilt depending on the character you're fighting and sometimes where you are on the stage. Once you get the grab, Koopa Klaw gives you a lot of options that Flying Slam doesn't. Also fun fact, Melee Bowsers dash speed is identical to Falco and the Marios. His initial dash speed is horrible though.
Ironically I feel like the two ball moves they actually removed were ones that could’ve stayed, in my opinion at least. Compared to having two specials that are almost identical.
15:09 Can we take a moment to appreciate the odd beauty of Snake dying off the top and losing his grenade but it defiantly finds a target anyways by popping the Smashville ballon? 😊
For Dedede, Brawl's Bair was stellar, but the two moves I really miss were Waddle Dee Toss, because it helped him a LOT with camping and enemy projectiles (although it got a reflector in Ultimate) and Dair. But if I have to say a move I really really miss that'll be Olimar's UpB from Brawl. I loved that it tied your recovery to your ability to take care of your pikmin, I loved you had more pikmins surrounding you (although that version of the character was quite crazy) and I loved that the move let you use the pikmins as a long range aerial attack which had kill potential and could be used as a combo finisher. It was definitely a much worse recovery option, but it added a nice and exploitable flaw to an otherwise very annoying character to play against.
I've said it before and I will say it again, Daisy should have gotten Peach's Melee moves that were cut (up air and up tilt). It would be a perfect way to differentiate them in a way that fits their personalities. (another change I would do is have Daisy pull a beam sword which would replace Mr. Saturn)
@ScrubReborn That's still in the game. I was messing around with Peach and pulled a beam sword. It's even rarer than Mr. Saturn. I think Daisy has those chances flipped.
From the way they changed her turnips (the one real thing setting them apart) to line up with Peach's, that means they always wanted Daisy to just be a glorified skin of Peach, which sucks a hecking lot They probably did so to keep her balancing simple as they just copy all changes they do to Peach, and only worry about the very minimal size difference between the two maybe, but damn, what a waste For next game if she comes back, they have no excuse to keep her as an orange Peach, with Wonder giving Daisy many flower themed abilities that suits her most than anyone in the game, and there's plenty spinoffs that also show her flower power isn't the same as Peach's heart magic, also Peach has Showtime for a good update to her moveset to set the two apart even further
I still to this day cannot believe how every single transformation final smash was scrapped, and how they ruined Dedede as well as so many others by just tripling the amount of Cutscene final smashes there were.
To be fair, both of Dedede's previous final smashes sucked and the new one is at least cool with the use of Masked Dedede, but yeah, I don't understand Ultimate's approach to Final Smashes, especially since Ultimate added the Final Smash Meter as an option. It was a chance to integrate the Final Smashes into the characters' kits and the devs chose to do the exact opposite.
@@demi-femme4821The idea was to make Final Smashes over more quickly, like a traditional Level 3 Super/ Cinematic Super in another fighting game. That said, a lot of characters in other fighting games have installs as a Level 3, especially in anime fighters (Golden Frieza, Ultimate Kars, and Tailed Beast Mode all work that way), so it's not like the concept is completely foreign to traditional fighters. If it were to come back, though, most of the older transformation Final Smashes would need to be dramatically altered.
@@elijahpadilla5083Smash kind of has installs Like Cloud limit or Arsene although very different from normal installs. Reminds me more of Dark Phoenix from Umvc3
Ganondorf's U-Smash is a little sad to me. It was kinda cool and fun, even if its hitbox was way bigger than the animation. HDR actually brought it back as his new U-Tilt, and it was cool, but then they changed it to this really awkward-looking attack with the hilt of his sword that's not very good. One of the few HDR changes I really don't like.
My favourite moment with Wario's old smash attack was goofing in training we put a bunch of bobombs to kill wario, fsmashed them and he just tanked all of them 😂
If they ever do the whole "Black Shadow inherits Ganondorf's old moveset" thing, having Black Shadow inheriting Brawl Ganon's Up Smash could be a fun idea if balanced well. I also like the idea of moving Link's Jump Slash to Forward Smash if you wanted to change his Dash Attack, since otherwise you'd be removing a fairly notable reference in his kit.
Why not move his jump slash to forward tilt instead… then it can be made weaker to show it’s a tilt and you don’t have to deal with the whole “forward smash with a blind spot” category like ddd
@@ZEL1579 Because it looks incredibly strong and it will either have that problem or it won't and I don't understand why it would be better for a tilt to have a blindspot
When playing Smash 3DS, I absolutely loved Ganon's up-smash and liked messing around outside and trying to do it IRL over and over when I was 11 or so. I can kick my leg decently high nowadays.
It’d be cool if most of these moves were brought back via Echo Fighters. Like Flygon for Charizard or Black Shadow for Captain Falcon (/most of Ganondorf’s moveset)
On the note of Link's old dash attack, in Super Smash Flash 2, he had that exact same dash attack but because of the physics of that game and how differently aerial drift works, it was an incredible combo starter and connected really well with his other aerials and even Up B at higher percents, a move that already had a lot of killing potential. However, they updated it to the new one not too long ago and now he has almost no way to open up the opponent at midrange. Its a decent kill option but so is F Smash. It also has the tendency of jumping over characters if you use it too close. It really sucks
12:45 Unironically, I think Zelda and Sheik in both Smash 4 and Ultimate would be both *vastly* more interesting as characters if they kept them as a transformation character. The only reason it didn't work in Melee and Brawl was simply because Zelda was far inferior to Sheik. (Which is a problem of BALANCE, NOT THE ACTUAL CONCEPT) Which also fixes up the weaknesses of both characters (Sheik's trouble with kill power, and Zelda's problem with a bad neutral). It'd be a hell of a lot more fun and interesting than Aegis, which is just the same character that is only just "fast or kills you or both just lose horribly."
Honestly to me it feels like they are still balancing the two based on the idea they'd be a 2 in 1 character. Sheik losing nearly all consistent kill options and Zelda still not having great neutral. If they fused them back together they'd be pretty well rounded. Least if Zelda kept Phantom (Can you imagine if you could transform while having Phantom out?)
@@dragonlord564 current phantom is insane yeah, which is still funny since in Smash 4 literally everyone laughed at the move. But yeah it would have to go, same with bouncing fish on Sheik.
Honestly I don’t want Zelda attached to Sheik anymore even though I was sad when they were first separated. Sheik just isn’t that relevant. She was an alter ego in one main series game over 20 years ago. I’d prefer it if she were replaced with an incarnation of Impa (I’m partial to the one from Skyward Sword.) She’d be the spiritual successor of Sheik retaining the ninja-like moveset with some added magical flare while also being a unique reoccurring character from the Zelda games. Zelda’s moveset just needs a rework in general to make her good. I’d like one that takes inspiration from Age of Calamity. I love her visuals there and I want to see her shooting Light Arrows as part of her regular moveset. Although with Echoes of Wisdom coming out, she’ll finally have more canon attacks of her own. I’m just tired of Din’s Fire being crap and her having two identical versions of the same unreliable sweet spot power move.
@@artistfloor9 idk about that, Sheik has been in smash as much as the likes of Marth, Ganon, Bowser, etc. replacing her is not that easy since she’s been in the series since Melee. So if she’s gonna be here then she may as well be on the same character slot with Zelda.
Surprised Falcon’s forward smash wasn’t mentioned. It’s an absolutely huge loss to his play style because his Fsmash was such a reliable punish option to ground whiffs. In Ultimate, it’s much harder to punish with a KO specifically because the range was cut and amount of frames for his Fmash to connect is too high.
Another note about the glide, every character that had one had an entirely unique attack out of it! MK's was fast, Pit's killed really well, and Charizard's was... existed. I like to think this was part of why pit and charizard got new fairs in smash 4 despite their old ones working perfectly fine
If I’m not mistaken put had no unique glide attack, it was just any Ariel. So you could do back air or down air or something. It was nice in its own way because unlike MK it didn’t strictly only cover in front of him and you don’t go into free fall.
@@jameswoodland2719 Nope, Pit did have a unique glide attack. He slashes forward with just one of his blades (as opposed to his f-air which uses both) and it sends almost straight up
@@freeformboozler I just tested this in training mode and, yep! You’re right! It’s also so funny to me how bad Charizards glide is. It’s so slow and the glide attack has no disjoint or anything. What is special about it is, unlike MK and Pit, it kills horizontally rather than vertically. That’s almost always a bad thing, but you might be able to edge guard with it and score an early kill or something.
13:24 it's not a credit card. It's a box of cement. It's supposed to be from the game "Mario's cement factory". I'm not sure why the stripes are uneven though. The name of the forward air in melee is "cement factory", so that confirms it.
It looks way more similar to the bottle boxes found in Mario Bros, tbh. But they probably felt that would be strange to call the move, considering said characters exist elsewhere, so they just called it Cement Factory to dodge that weird scenario.
I know 64 was disqualified primarily because of how different a lot of the moves were in that game, but if we had to include one from that game, Falcons Up Smash deserves a mention. That was basically a strong combo atarting tilt in the form of an Up Smash. It was so ridiculous. On the topic of the actual moves in the video, I do wish DDD had kept his old Brawl Back Air and Ganondorfs old Up Smash was his new Up Tilt with some minor retooling, but I'm not the first to be saying all this, I just agree with it all.
6:48 lucas still uses that version of the up air and you've even complimented it even though it's much less powerful that it would be compared to a up tilt instead of an up smash
Great video. Underrated and went unmentioned was Luigi's old down B/throw. Losing the ability to mash for recovery hurt his mobility a lot and I miss the old grab making him a true grappler.
yk maybe it's a bit of a hot take but I'm not exactly saddened by the loss of these moves, and I'd say their replacements for the most part were better choices overall. Really the only ones I'd debatably prefer would be Link's old dash attack, Squirtle's old forward smash, Game & Watch's old fair, Meta Knight's old up special, and maybe Snake's old down smash.
Yeah, honestly many of these were missed just cause of their gameplay powerlevels. Some of them like Dedede's Bair I can't say fit much better then what replaced it. You can easily speed up Link's current DA to be much more favorable and many people wouldn't be bothered by the change anymore. (Not that we could realistically expect that from the Smash team but you get my point)
@MrGameguyC tbf Ult Link dash attack even if sped up wouldn't be able to chain into itself nor combo, which is qlsoon3 if the good things about the melee version
@MrGameguyC tbf the old Pit up special wasn't that broken and I don't think its that broken considering how good some characters recoveries are in Ult
As a Rosa main, I'm glad they changed her neutral air... Because the old one was just conceptually _weird._ Like, usefulness aside, it was extremely bizarre and felt strange. Her new one is one of the best moves she has, and feels way more in-character. Though personally I would have loved to see her used the iconic Mario Galaxy Spin more in her moveset.
It makes me unimaginably frustrated that they made an entire clone character of Pit and then instead of leaving Pit with his old moveset to differentiate the characters they just completely scrapped the old moves and made their movesets identical. AND THEY REMOVED GLIDING BUT THEN GAVE IT TO STEVE!!!!
@@MockRockTalkI know they are the same move but Smash 4 Gordos really did get downgraded in Ult and for no real reason, it's not like they were broken in 4
Link's dash attack is amazing, you can kill confirm after a fast fall nair at around 50% on medium to heavy characters and it has a tipper hitbox that kills early
Doesn't quite make sense to me as it's basically Isabelle down special. The theory I heard is that it would be broken at ledge since Ult doesn't have Brawl's infinite ledge invincibility.
I largely agree with these takes, but there’s several things I want to mention and some slight and more drastic design changes I’d make to improve some of these moves better or change them for the better of the character. * The back kick should not return for Dedede. A hammer swing fits him much better. Want him to be an actual good character overall? Buff him by giving him moves from his own series: A spiking hammer swing forward aerial like his own boss fights, a Giant Swing neutral aerial, Hammer Twirl down aerial, would all benefit him immensely. Make the Head Slide use the actual animation from the series with increased power and travel distance, but more end lag. And while we're at it, make his neutral special the Big Bang Inhale from _Star Allies,_ to cover a longer distance with it , and replace his Gordo Throw and Jet Hammer with the Hammer Throw (which will sometimes throw another hammer besides his usual one) and Hammer Flip abilities. There. Now Dedede is more game accurate, and better competitively. * Honestly for Ganondorf's up smash, I'd have him raise his sword up high before a lighting bolt strikes it, covering it in electricity. The lightning bolt itself it would deal damage and appear a decent distance above Ganondorf (roughly 1/2 the height of Palutena's up smash) from a cloud made up of Malice/Gloom energy. Like Pikachu's Thunder, the cloud can meteor smash opponents, and the electricity hitting the sword deals decent damage as well. After the sword is charged, Ganondorf swings the sword down in front of him before transitioning to the Ultimate up smash. This makes it a nice reference to the fight with Demise and calls into Ganondorf's pension for using electricity. Though like some other people in the comments, I could see this return as an up tilt, even though I'd personally used a modified Volcano Kick again using the sword. * Want to know another reference you could use for dash attack while keeping the idea of _Melee's_ intact? Have Link sharply move a short distance forward while using the Shield Bash. Quick start up on a move that also would still protect him from projectiles. The sudden change in momentum could also be helpful for mind games. * I hate how the _Earthbound_ characters are in _Smash,_ it makes no sense for Ness to just do a regular headbutt. Other than the bat and yo-yo I say have him use his PSI attacks alongside attacks involving his party members and he'd become a much more fleshed out character. You have so many choices to make him both more interesting and more accurate. * You could honestly bring Wings of Icarus back (albeit keeping the current name), the current Power of Flight is nice but let's be honest, Wings of Icarus was definitely involved in creating _Uprising's_ gameplay. The only change I'd make is just shorten it by a second, and then give the original time to Dark Pit who'd also move faster while doing so. Better reflects their abilities to fly. * I hate how Samus in _Smash_ just hits people with the arm cannon instead of actually using it. Go the Mega Man route and give her the Power Beam for her neutral attack, forward tilt, and neutral aerial. Just make it so holding those inputs allows you to turn it into a Charge Shot and she can now use it to extend aerial combos. * ZSS in my perfect world would be a temporary transformation of Samus with all the special moves being different aimable versions of the Paralyzer (and no rocket heels). However, that transformation would not include the Power Suit pieces because that makes no sense canonically. Samus' Power Suit is literally a part of her body it doesn't come off her like that. Literally the only times it has been removed were either just the helmet or through surgery. Samus really deserves better. You want that item play put it on a character that makes sense. * Shoulder Bash should 100% be Wario's side special, with Wario Bike being the dash attack, just having him hop onto his bike and drive a distance roughly equal to half of Final Destination before bailing. Wario's current forward smash is fine, the main reason _Brawl's_ was so good was the choppy animations Wario had in that game, which were gratefully removed over time. Just speed up his current one a tiny bit and it'd be fine. * Just change Luma's neutral aerial to spin around in a circle, which would increase Rosalina's range when around her. * Sheik should honestly be removed from _Smash_ at this point given how dirty they've done him. * Squirtle's current forward smash is fine. If you want an armor move on Squirtle just include Skull Bash. I personally have that as a stall-and-fall down aerial but you do you. * Give the Melee up aerial to Daisy if people like it that much. * Charizard should not be a HM slave in _Smash._ There are so many better opportunities for moves on Charizard's down special. * You want a cool side special for Bowser? Have him throw the hammers from _New Super Mario Bros. 2_ for a side special. References his original boss fight and could have the chance to throw other objects Bowser has tossed over the years, like Mechakoopas. Self-KO moves are terrible so just remove Flying Slam altogether. You like Koopa Claw incorporate that into his grab and throws. * I say just bring the old down smash back and make the landmine easier to see for balance. Then raise the leg in his current down smash up a bit and make that his new forward tilt. Then take his current forward tilt and replace his ridiculous up tilt with it. If you've read this far, pat yourself on the back. Thank you for taking the time to read all this.
I'm nostalgic of many moves from Snash64, Mario's big punch, DK's huge slap and spinning split kick, Link's stupidly powerful side smash, but the one I miss the most it's Captain Falcon's side smash the Fire Kick, it's just such a cool move and his yell each time he does it sells you on its power. Maybe they ditched it because they didn't want to have two flaming kicks in his moveset but I never got quite used to the elbow as a replacement.
Good list, but the number one cut move from smash was without a doubt Melee G&W Nair. That move had massive killing power, didn't get weaker the longer it was out, had an absurdly huge hitbox the size of bowser, and lasted really long. The only "downside" was that it took a while to come out. But this is a god send for tech chasing on platforms, which his throws were great for setting up.
Speaking of Mii Brawler, his DK-punch like neutral B was pretty cool, wish Exploding Side Kick had been replaced instead. I also liked the kick flurry he had for his down b, even though it was nowhere near as strong as Feint Jump.
Old snake down smash is one of my favorite moves in my series, so imagine how angry I was when I found out about the generic down smash he got in ultimate. At least its not complete garbage, that would have made it so much worse, but I still miss the mine.
A big thing for Ness is the fact that in his home game he was much more the brawler of his team. Against regular enemies you would use the "Attack" command with Ness like more than half the time. So I think the headbutt, while a little silly looking, fits that.
Pokemon trainer should be able to switch pokemon with the dpad instead of down b, that way you can choose what you want to switch to without cycling and you get extra special moves
i feel like a lot of final smashes could be on here. In ultimate most of the cast just has a cut scene final smash or something similar(just a big hit in an area in front of the character), i miss old final smashes like fox and falcos from brawl(maybe smash 4 too idk)
it blows my mind that ganons usmash wasnt moved to his utilt, especially since he already has a "slow charge up big punish" move in warlock punch so it literally serves no purpose in his kit
G&W's Parachute would be cool, I like Tropical Fish, but having all horizontal air attacks be multihits and Bomb being so weird makes G&W feel a little less good in the air than before
Thank you mock rock for continuing to make super smash bros content around smash ultimate and the smash bros franchise as a whole from my elementary school years into my high school years and still going strong.
This one may seem strange, but I am a little sad that Palutena's reflect was added into her counter. Not so say that it wasn't a good change, but i say this because one distinct memory I have was being in a smash 4 tournament when I was younger and ending up using the reflect barrier to ledge guard one of my opponents and win the match
1: let's change Charizard's best move to a dumb version of a move he already has 2: ok? So seeing how we're changing moves we get to finally fix donkey Kong right? 1:... 2: right!? 1:...never
I miss Meta Knights old shuttle loop. It is so satisfying catching someone out of the air with it, and platform cancel with it, and then going into a glide right after made it one of the most dynamic moves in smash history.
IDK wheter its better or worse than his new one, but Falcon's elbow forward smash was so goated and they decided "nah, we need to replace it with a Warlock Punch lookalike". Bring back the elbow smh
I remember using Peach Glide toss and Pluck Cancel (this was exist until getting patch in 4.0 in ssbu) in Brawl. And Zelda Love jumping (still exist, but cut down version since momentum cancelling no longer exist) Nayru's love throw enemy whenever she's facing I miss those days
God I miss Ganondorf's old smash attacks, they just felt so absolutely amazing to land. The kick of death up smash just sent whoever you were fighting to space, that monstrous elbow of an f-smash was just beautiful, and that down smash felt so good to land.
@@quillion3rdoption his old f smash was even a reference to twilight princess too, during his boss fight he would do a short dash forward into the elbow, then follow it up with a spin attack with his sword
Something I would wanna see taken from some fan iterations of Link from Rivals of Aether is making his dash attack a two hit, he kicks his knee up and that leads into the sword hit, makes dash attack a lot more reliable
Small correction for King Dedede's back air: his hitbox has actually changed between Smash 4 and Ultimate (Now is quite a bit smaller vertically and hits a lot less characters from the ground, for example). The change was probably made to make the animation match the hitbox more and make it clearer so to cover the hammer properly they shrank it in Ultimate
Dedede 's multi hit down air and his brawl back air came to my mind. Was glad to see them here Ganons up smash and links command grab came to mind for me. I thought of Pits Brawl up special too. I thought it was a great list
I really enjoyed Koopa Claw in Brawl. It was the best part of using Bowser. Snagging them and biting them was savage, I loved the sound effect, and having a secondary non-grab hitbox was nice. I feel like they could bring back Koopa Claw in modern games but have the current jump slam as a third option by pressing jump / up while holding them. Would be a nice bit of added utility, sometimes you just don't want to do the jump slam.
11:55 I disagree on Rosalina's Neutral air. In a vacuum, it was not good. Yeah it's meant to be a walling tool but her new one does that and so much more with combo setups and potential kill comfirms plus better hitbox coverage overall
Wow, this video just made me realize they changed Rosalina’s neutral air from that kick. I used to play her a lot in 4 but barely used her unless chosen randomly in Ultimate
Link dash attack should be made more accurate to BOTW jump slash so much more of a powerful land and slight stall-and-fall-like properties in that it accelerates as it falls which would mean that it could pair well with stages with platforms and maybe risky off the edge maneuvers.
I've said it before and I'll say it again because my comments never get any traction on this channel but old moves that have been retired in Smash that I'd like to see a return would be Peach's moves especially her Melee ones. She used more kicks and did a head-butt which seems more aggressive and less whimsical than Peach and Daisy's current moves. While we're at it give Daisy a small chance at getting the Beam Sword out of her down b like Peach did in Melee. Our girl needs something else that differentiates her more from Peach than just a slight hurtbox difference since they changed her down b to be just like Peach
There was an old trick setup.I like to use back on ganondorf's upsmash. Charging the move right in front of someone and letting go and letting the forward hit them by surprise. I got a lucario like that once and I was laughing my ass off

Snake's old down smash is the weirdest but most unique down smash ever, I loved using it when I played Brawl
Yeah, and the fact that it was made so generic saddens me. That move was awesome.
snake would be even more frustrating to play against than he is rn lol. i like that its a super cool unique smash attack, dont get me wrong, but im glad its gone.
@@firewall5189 they could've replaced it with something more interesting than the generic both side down smash
Yeah, snake would be too cheap if he still had claymore in ultimate lol.
It’s also one of the few references to the NES Kid Icarus in his moveset.
It felt bad to use
This is so sad can we get a HIYIYEEYAH
Mine is Negative Zone for Luigis Final Smash. I really liked the implications of his character
Maybe if Waluigi ever becomes a character, they could make that his final smash, I see it fitting Waluigi more
@@deadheat1635 maybe if it had more effects (maybe something similar to daisy/peach's final smash) it'd make more sense
@@deadheat1635I heard it’s both a reference to Luigi being in Mario’s shadow but also a reference to the Negative World glitch in the original Mario Bros (thus the name Negative Zone), something that Waluigi was not a part of
Personally I think Waluigi’s Mega Strike from Mario Striker’s Charged would make a killer final smash for him
Yeah Luigi's Domain Expansion
The volcano kick is fun tho.
Ye, move volcano kick to a taunt or something. But there is no world where the new uptilt brings him out of being the worst character in the game lol.
What do you mean one of Sonic's removed ball moves wasn't in this video? :(
Ironically I feel like the two ball moves they actually removed were ones that could’ve stayed, in my opinion at least.
Brawl's DAir is also in the Kirby games, so hurts extra bad they changed it after Brawl
I've said it before and I will say it again, Daisy should have gotten Peach's Melee moves that were cut (up air and up tilt). It would be a perfect way to differentiate them in a way that fits their personalities.
(another change I would do is have Daisy pull a beam sword which would replace Mr. Saturn)
Personally I'd just give both of them a super rare chance at pulling Beam Sword. No idea why Sakurai denied Peach her Jedi powers after Brawl.
@ScrubReborn That's still in the game. I was messing around with Peach and pulled a beam sword. It's even rarer than Mr. Saturn. I think Daisy has those chances flipped.
@@matteoinocencio9702 No, you can just go to the Smash Wiki and see for yourself the beam sword cannot be pulled
From the way they changed her turnips (the one real thing setting them apart) to line up with Peach's, that means they always wanted Daisy to just be a glorified skin of Peach, which sucks a hecking lot
They probably did so to keep her balancing simple as they just copy all changes they do to Peach, and only worry about the very minimal size difference between the two maybe, but damn, what a waste
For next game if she comes back, they have no excuse to keep her as an orange Peach, with Wonder giving Daisy many flower themed abilities that suits her most than anyone in the game, and there's plenty spinoffs that also show her flower power isn't the same as Peach's heart magic, also Peach has Showtime for a good update to her moveset to set the two apart even further
@@dustymcwari4468 Wonder didn't give flower themed abilities to Daisy. It gave them to everyone. Because they were in the Flower Kingdom.
I know everyone’s said this a billion times but what on earth were they doing for bowsers dash in melee. It’s genuinely still so baffling to me
Turbo koopa fart dashing apparently
I always saw it as him riding a go kart, but without the kart, which doesn't make a whole lot of sense
Real Brawlerheads know that the true loss from the Sm4sh > Ult transition was Ultimate Uppercut 😔
I would legit drop shot put for ultimate uppercut
@@KraggFair Yes please! Put it in place of Exploding Side Kick.
I still can't believe they made Pac-Man's up tilt blatantly worse
No clue why they changed that move
@@ZEL1579
Because it looks incredibly strong and it will either have that problem or it won't and I don't understand why it would be better for a tilt to have a blindspot
They could also replace his forward air with the jump attack
When playing Smash 3DS, I absolutely loved Ganon's up-smash and liked messing around outside and trying to do it IRL over and over when I was 11 or so.
I can kick my leg decently high nowadays.
Do you make the "HYAAAH" noise? That's a crucial part of the move
@@MishKoz Strangely enough, I haven't... Gonna have to do that to get on Ganon's level
It’d be cool if most of these moves were brought back via Echo Fighters. Like Flygon for Charizard or Black Shadow for Captain Falcon (/most of Ganondorf’s moveset)
12:58 I find it funny that this was by far and away Melee Bowser's best move.
Falcon’s Fsmash was a tragic loss
I miss Pit's old side special. Wasn't particularly good but "HIYAYAYAAAA!" was such a funny voice clip.
TFW when I finally have a valid reason to hate Falcon's new forward smash other than "i miss the elbow". Thanks.
New one sucks lets be honest.
In the community it's been called the credit or metro card so much that it's effectively what it is, even if it's not true
@@illford tbh I never saw it as any particular object before I was told about the credit card and cement box. I always just saw it as a "thing"
I always thought it was a sandwich lol
I thought it was a suitcase.
Ivysaur's Project M Solar Beam 🥲
It's not a cuted move it's a moded move
Doesn't count id imagine since it's not an official smash game. I still love PM/+
6:48 lucas still uses that version of the up air and you've even complimented it even though it's much less powerful that it would be compared to a up tilt instead of an up smash
I miss the gale boomerang. I especially loved how it was relatively safe on reflector because only the windbox would be reflected.
Yeah quite frankly I'm not a big fan of rock smash
Yeah, honestly many of these were missed just cause of their gameplay powerlevels.
Some of them like Dedede's Bair I can't say fit much better then what replaced it.
You can easily speed up Link's current DA to be much more favorable and many people wouldn't be bothered by the change anymore. (Not that we could realistically expect that from the Smash team but you get my point)
@MrGameguyC tbf Ult Link dash attack even if sped up wouldn't be able to chain into itself nor combo, which is qlsoon3 if the good things about the melee version

As a Rosa main, I'm glad they changed her neutral air... Because the old one was just conceptually _weird._ Like, usefulness aside, it was extremely bizarre and felt strange. Her new one is one of the best moves she has, and feels way more in-character.
Though personally I would have loved to see her used the iconic Mario Galaxy Spin more in her moveset.
i miss game n watch credit card so much it felt so nice to combo with and kill with
Brawl’s Wario is my favorite. Even his animation was unique and hilarious 🔥
6:03 not sure if this was intentional or not, but the two background music tracks transition into each other super well!
It makes me unimaginably frustrated that they made an entire clone character of Pit and then instead of leaving Pit with his old moveset to differentiate the characters they just completely scrapped the old moves and made their movesets identical. AND THEY REMOVED GLIDING BUT THEN GAVE IT TO STEVE!!!!
yea dedede's old bair was cool but yknow what i miss? Waddle Dee's and Waddle Doo's..
I considered them, they were fun, but by sheer power level they were so much less playstyle-defining than the Gordos are
@@MockRockTalkI know they are the same move but Smash 4 Gordos really did get downgraded in Ult and for no real reason, it's not like they were broken in 4
@@illford Do tell, cause every source says they were slightly improved.
Link's dash attack is amazing, you can kill confirm after a fast fall nair at around 50% on medium to heavy characters and it has a tipper hitbox that kills early
I think Ganon’s current up tilt should be his smash 4 up smash, just without the ability to charge it
I have heard theories that Snake Dsmash was changed because of something to do with the Stage Morph feature
That seems plausible actually. I don't know why the devs just didn't make it poof and despawn as soon the stage morphs though.
Or replaced it with a Claymore?
Doesn't quite make sense to me as it's basically Isabelle down special. The theory I heard is that it would be broken at ledge since Ult doesn't have Brawl's infinite ledge invincibility.
Ness having more physical prowess is actually pretty accurate to Earthbound. He's sort of the Paladin to Paula's Black Mage and Poo's Red Mage.
Great list! Saying goodbye to Charizard's rock smash wasn't easy 😢
I was not prepared to see myself playing brawl from like 10 years ago when I clicked this video 😅
But this is a god send for tech chasing on platforms, which his throws were great for setting up.
i've said it before, but i hate that cut moves and specials were not repurposed into the echoes ultimate added
Rock smash, you will be missed. Rip to my goat.
The only thing I remember about brawl pit is HIYAYAYAAAA
Speaking of Mii Brawler, his DK-punch like neutral B was pretty cool, wish Exploding Side Kick had been replaced instead. I also liked the kick flurry he had for his down b, even though it was nowhere near as strong as Feint Jump.
Old snake down smash is one of my favorite moves in my series, so imagine how angry I was when I found out about the generic down smash he got in ultimate. At least its not complete garbage, that would have made it so much worse, but I still miss the mine.
Removing Dedede's Side B from Brawl was a crime.
A big thing for Ness is the fact that in his home game he was much more the brawler of his team. Against regular enemies you would use the "Attack" command with Ness like more than half the time. So I think the headbutt, while a little silly looking, fits that.
I sure do miss Gerudo Dragon
Rosalina's new nair is soooooo much better than her old nair. She can actually fight and have comboes without Luma being around
I will die on the hill of pikachu's forward throw from 64. I love that he just hucks you over his shoulder, it's amazing
anyone else misses Sonic’s brawl down smash?
You do not understand the power of the sliding rock smash, true Charizard players know how useful it can really be
Pokemon trainer should be able to switch pokemon with the dpad instead of down b, that way you can choose what you want to switch to without cycling and you get extra special moves
i feel like a lot of final smashes could be on here.
They should bring back the waddle dee tossing I think that move was so cool
1: let's change Charizard's best move to a dumb version of a move he already has
2: ok? So seeing how we're changing moves we get to finally fix donkey Kong right?

I miss Meta Knights old shuttle loop. It is so satisfying catching someone out of the air with it, and platform cancel with it, and then going into a glide right after made it one of the most dynamic moves in smash history.
Charizards forward air used to be so sick looking
IDK wheter its better or worse than his new one, but Falcon's elbow forward smash was so goated and they decided "nah, we need to replace it with a Warlock Punch lookalike". Bring back the elbow smh
They made Falcon as a whole so much lamer in Ultimate and I can’t explain why
In smash 4 he was so fast
Dedede’s Waddle Dee toss from Brawl was such a funny move, and I’m surprised that wasn’t brought back.
I was hoping a mockrock video would show up today.
Ive never seen pit's brawl Up B before this; makes me really sad I never got to play with this move competitively
I remember using
Peach Glide toss and Pluck Cancel (this was exist until getting patch in 4.0 in ssbu) in Brawl.
And Zelda Love jumping (still exist, but cut down version since momentum cancelling no longer exist)
Nayru's love throw enemy whenever she's facing
I miss those days
I literally couldn’t tell the difference between brawl dedede bair and current DK bair
God I miss Ganondorf's old smash attacks, they just felt so absolutely amazing to land. The kick of death up smash just sent whoever you were fighting to space, that monstrous elbow of an f-smash was just beautiful, and that down smash felt so good to land.
And they got rid of them for what? People who don't care about gameplay one bit and just want to see muh references.
You have the coolest into ever man!!
Dedede 's multi hit down air and his brawl back air came to my mind. Was glad to see them here
Ganons up smash and links command grab came to mind for me.
14:00 DJNintendo’s bowser was so legendary back then. All the technical clips are from him.
Wow, this video just made me realize they changed Rosalina’s neutral air from that kick. I used to play her a lot in 4 but barely used her unless chosen randomly in Ultimate
It's also weird for Snake to dig to place a landmine when the mines in MGS are always Claymores.
The back kick has got to be the laziest incarnation of a back-air I have ever seen ever.
I can't even explain how often I used zard rock smash. Literally one of my favorite approach tools in sm4sh
12:45 as a Zelda main. Thank you
LMAOOOOO
Loved this part
ngl waddle dashing is my favorite smash mechanic. Also waddle doo beam can be hype af
Our girl needs something else that differentiates her more from Peach than just a slight hurtbox difference since they changed her down b to be just like Peach
i was actually just thinking about ness' up air this morning, funny timing
There was an old trick setup.I like to use back on ganondorf's upsmash.
Charging the move right in front of someone and letting go and letting the forward hit them by surprise.
I got a lucario like that once and I was laughing my ass off
