Really good showing overall especially the gen 3 segment and the ludicrous number of experimental sets used
Ho-Oh is basically what Moltres from gen 1 should have been. The same Fire and Flying type only with an actually good move pool, and only got better over time whereas Moltres dwindled in the lower tiers.
Great Video as usual! In Gen 2 I like to run Sacred Fire, Recover, Earthquake and Shadowball or Ancient Power. Fire hits everything that resists Earthquake super effective or neutral (Flying) and with 130 attack Ancient Power can hit Zaptos really hard, or you just go with Shadowball to hit something on that side, a sd drop could make Sacred Fire really dangerous.

@@HunterHerne By this logic, anyone who plays Ubers is a scrub. Did you think before you typed this? (Rhetorical question)
@@Zach0451 It may be rhetorical, but I'll answer it by saying I have never, nor will I ever, play Smogon tiers. And I have used 3 legendaries against players in the history of my pokemon playing, starting in Gen1. And those were an Incarnate Tornadus rest-talker, a support Raikou, and a generic Heatran.
@@HunterHerne Ooh you're one of *those* players....
@@Zach0451 Yep, one of those players who value fun and creativity over competitive viability.
Ho-Oh is my favorite Pokemon! I remember when people played Marshadow for the first time on Showdown and I always tried to fit a Ho-Oh on my Ubers teams if it could fit. Quite a few people rage quit or gave up because of how easy I KO'ed their Marshadows (ones that didn't play Rock Tomb anyway). Good times!
Ho-Oh is absolutely incredible and I would say almost a must have on any Ubers team. It covers for too many things and is able to be things strong despite the existence of Stealth Rock. Now that's an achievement. Ho-Oh really matches up to Lugia
lol
I know this is 4 years ago but people really need to stop acting like Lugia is so much better because its not 🤡
Lugia is neglected in ubers and is the definition of mid there. While Ho-Oh only got better over the years and has significantly more usage than Lugia.
Thanks for including VGC 19 Sun Series teams! Ho-Oh hasn’t been seeing as much usage in Moon Series so far
Your content is amazing man, I would love to see you covering Ursaring!
It got even better now with Heavy Duty Boots. Ho-Oh is in the top 10 most used Ubers mon. Its amazing.
Childhood is loving Lugia for how awesome and scary it is.
Adulthood is loving Ho-Oh for how majestic and grandiose it is.
Hello -VerminTV- Maturity is loving both.
I would say that this almost undersells how solid ho-oh is in gen6-7 ubers meta and how it forms the backbone of the primal groudon ho-oh duskmane core. It's such a fantastic pokemon that constantly got better and better in terms of offense and utility.
The last one of these videos I'm watching before my final high-school summer vacation ends 😢.
I identify :c
1:00 so we not gonna talk about the movie Pokemon: I choose you?
We did it again! Though this time the Lugia/Ho-oh was kinda interrupted by the starters as well, so it went both ways lol
Also I was featured in the video! Yay :)
As someone who isn't too familiar with the Ubers meta, I sometimes forget how good Ho-Oh actually is. The rainbow turkey doesn't appear to have any glaring weaknesses that could be fixed simply by slapping a new tool on it.
Ho-Oh is one of the sickest pokemon designs ever.
So simple yet pretty at the same time
Getting ho-oh at mt battle will forever be one of my favourite gaming memories
The Phoenix is my absolute favourite Mythical Animal and the Johto Phoenix didn't disappoint!
How GOOD was Mightyena ACTUALLY? next please?
Thanks for another fun vid False Swipe =^_^=
These videos are so well made, thank you for all the research and great content you put into these. Seriously 10/10 video
now I'm wondering the politics behind GSC not banning Lax to Ubers now, and trying to suspect test Celebi?
This is DeagleBeagle here, lmao Ho-Oh usually ran Passho Berry but you could switch items back then which I did in an attempt to desperately beat Groudon with Rock Slide.
Ho-oh is literally THE Xerneas counter when using an AV set, taking 40% from a thunder
+2 252+ SpA Xerneas Thunder vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Assault Vest Ho-Oh: 188-222 (45.1 - 53.3%) -- 43.8% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock…. Nice counter, also brave birb doesn’t do much without any attack investment and you can’t whirlwind
So mesmerising that Ho-oh is such fan favourite without any artificial pushes from game freak!
*HOW GOOD WAS THE MADNESS OF SPIRITOMB ACTUALLY?*
WHY ARE YOU HERE HEARTHSTONE GOD THIS IS NOT TRUMP OR TOAST'S CHANNEL
This video was a rollercoaster with all the ups and downs this thing had within the same generation.
People: So will Ho-Oh run Choice Band again?
Ho-Oh: Nope, just gimme some shoes!
Giving up a little power or Leftovers recovery to not lose health from Rocks might be worth it.
@@ShiningJudgment666 when you still have healing from roost/recover and regenerator
It is extremely worth it
Especially because bow ho-oh can act as an anti hazard mon itself
This is seriously what I look forward to on Sundays
Ho oh is the coolest looking pokemon for sure. Second is darkrai.
Nah, mega scizor is the coolest looking Pokemon but Ho oh still looks SUPER cool
3:40
Yo Mr. FSG. These should be in every video from now on. Excellent call dude!
Ho-Oh is the most underrated bird Pokémon and is the best Johto Pokémon. Being the first new region Pokémon shown on TV, Ho-Oh deserves a lot more.
In terms of actual competitive gameplay it was nowhere near the best.
@@wowwt In terms of what really matters, It's looks and early TV appearance, it is definitely near the best.
@@Mynostalgicvideos entei all the way
@@wowwt Ho-Oh is my favorite. I'm also a big fan of Entei
@@wowwt Entei is something good in competitive?
I'm surprised that a move like Refresh was even considered for a Pokémon like Ho-Oh, since running a dedicated cleric with Heal Bell is generally the better option. Also, the fact that Ho-Oh sets are limited enough as to consider running Defog on the Pokémon that you are trying to protect from rocks is pretty hilarious and only works because of Regenerator. Really good showing overall especially the gen 3 segment and the ludicrous number of experimental sets used
How bad of a name is “Ho-oh” actually?
Not as bad as yours
Well it's very accurate, since Houou literally means Phoenix in Japanese. The "oh" could also stand for the Japanese "king" honorific
Ho-oh's name is lovely idk what you smoking but I DON'T want it
Ho-Oh is basically what Moltres from gen 1 should have been. The same Fire and Flying type only with an actually good move pool, and only got better over time whereas Moltres dwindled in the lower tiers.
My favorite starter from Sinnoh
Well, just like Celebi, this bird indeed rose from the ashes once it got its dream ability, it definitely shined in competitive:)
Funny how ho oh learns curse but it’s power is the opposite
Is incredible to see how an Pokemon that wasn’t too viable, become incredible in competitive!
I think stealth rock was turning point, but at least you can't switch around your team for all eternitiy
No one will notice this comment anyway
Ho Oh, the Shinto God Pokemon with power over life and death. Not to mention its majestic theme.
Torterra?
FSG: I've never seen this man in my life
I glad you create this video.
Aw, was hoping we would get Torterra...
Me to, but that dumbjoke of interrupting a Trio is still a thing
Or venomoth
This pick upsets me, the interruption squad already had their fun with Sandslash.
Oh-No
Great Video as usual!
How Good is Forretress?
It’s a Good Stall Guy
I always love seeing how the Ubers interact with one another.
How good was Rayquaza ACTUALLY?
Votes are now being done in the community tab
Always has been my favorite Legendary, nice to see all it needed was for mechanics to not screw it over.
I still remember one of Ho-oh's entry: anyone saw Ho-oh, his or her dream will came true. But Ash never won any league pass gen 2😂
God-pokemon work in mysterious ways... I guess??? XD
Ash won the Alolan League finally.
Gen 8: We have these funny boots...
Ho-oh "god mode activated"
At least Torterra was delayed by a Badass Pokémon and not a derpy one.
Awesome video like always!! Thank you so much!
Mataram is red? Mataram is blue!
Is Ho-oh better in gen 8 with the addition of heavy-duty boots? I know Pokémon like Volcarona and Moltres became more viable, but I don't play Ubers enough to know.
Yes...
Yes it is
