Gen 4 was where it really accellerated with Heracross being a dominant sweeper thanks to the p/s split giving it a good moveset variety, scizor gaining an amazing ability and the tools to abuse it not to mention some half decent new bugs like Yanmega to speed boost its way through teams with respectable special attack and strong STABs.
I love how important and versatile Celebi was in Advance while also being nearly impossible to get in that gen. Till this day, my Emerald is still missing the Onion Fairy.
As much as I love 5th gen it was the beginning of the end... we really need GameFreak to either push the reboot button or have a new dev team take over, because they've been accelerating the death of the series rapidly since X&Y.
SM clogged OU with something like a dozen new legendaries. A lot of the stronger pokes you would've expected to stay in OU have been kicked down into UU which of course means old UU mons are NU, NU is now PU, etc.
Hitmonlee: A once solid offensive pokemon that is basically useless in higher level play with a very small niche. Hitmonchan: A once promising pokemon that became worthless due to lack luster stats. Hitmontop: A once decent UU pokemon that eventually became a VGC staple in later generations.

What I’m most impressed about celebi is that despite having a not so great typing of grass/psychic giving it 7 weaknesses and even a 4x weakness to bug. it still managed to be a top tier mon.

X4 weakness to bug- Only bug move that can OHKO in GEN2 is Heracross MegaHorn! Holy hell! Also I know they aren't from the same clip, but the Onion Fairy just survived a Super effective ice punch from Gengar AND a Super effective fire blast from Salamence..
Jacob Dying Extraordinaire I had a Cradily with HP bug (just in case someone tried to outstall me with celebi). Hp bug skarmory was also surprisingly effective
@@keetendailey4337 As far as I know, Synchronize only works against encounters rather than gifts but you can save before receiving Zeraora and soft reset, so you can test if Synchronize works on it.
I remember how good it was in stadium 2 when i used it there, especially in r2. You know how many annoying gimmicks the AI employs, well, a single leech seed and they can spam double team, attract and paralysis etc. they want and it doesnt matter. Not to mention it can kill almost anything with leech seed + recover, thanks to its bulk.

Celebi was a star in my Gen 6 Inverse teams, Scarf allowed it to outperform Serperior as a revenge killer & healing wish was an amazing tech for it, others used it with NP as a late game sweep to devastating effect. Damn I miss Inverse.

kinda wish Celebi had a "signature move" elated to time travel. something called "Healing time" with 5 PP which lets celebi go away for a turn (like if you used dig, fly, or phantom force) and when it comes back, it heals half of its HP and returns with its stats reset to normal. it would let Celebi become a perfect stall. Even better if it lets you use it in other pokemon ike Sky drop. that celebi once uses it in another pokemon in double battles, it cn reset and heal both of your pokemon or take out a very buffed opponent's pokemon while resetting it to normal state (as it, by bye primal, or mega evolution), and celebi steal heals itself. it would also let you re-abuse (and suffer again) of stealth rock and spikes or toxic spikes as this "Healing time" move would coun the re entry as the pokemon had switched back into battle
Hell, they said it was distinct enough to have its own video when they did Scizor - It's been over a YEAR since then. Funny huh, how both Scyther and Scizor have the same Base Stat Total of 500...

@Yair elam &silver ally yanmega was never very good until gen 5. gen 4 it was UU borderline so it could only be in OU where it couldn’t stand a chance. in gen 5 it became UU’s best revenge killer. then gen 6 and 7 it was just downhill. 4x weakness to rock is NEVER a good things
It speaks volumes about the Power Creep when a good Pokemon like Celebi isn't good enough for OU anymore. Monsters like Azumarill, Hoopa-U, both Thundurus Forms, and Salamence are stuck in BL. The Power Creep is off the charts, OU is insane, and UU is effectively the new standard tier of competitive Pokemon, and who knows how long that will last.
in Gen VII UU, not many people use Psychium or Grassium Z. The preferred set from what I last saw was Groundium Z Earth Power with Nasty Plot ofc. +2 252 SpA Celebi Tectonic Rage (175 BP) vs. 0 HP / 252+ SpD Assault Vest Muk-Alola: 160-190 (88.8 - 105.5%) -- 37.5% chance to OHKO(I have no clue if this is the Alolan Muk set)

kinda wish Celebi had a "signature move" elated to time travel. something called "Healing time" with 5 PP which lets celebi go away for a turn (like if you used dig, fly, or phantom force) and when it comes back, it heals half of its HP and returns with its stats reset to normal.
it would let Celebi become a perfect stall. Even better if it lets you use it in other pokemon ike Sky drop. that celebi once uses it in another pokemon in double battles, it cn reset and heal both of your pokemon or take out a very buffed opponent's pokemon while resetting it to normal state (as it, by bye primal, or mega evolution), and celebi steal heals itself.
it would also let you re-abuse (and suffer again) of stealth rock and spikes or toxic spikes as this "Healing time" move would coun the re entry as the pokemon had switched back into battle
me confused why the beedrill used poison jab instead of X-Scissor or U-Turn

yanmega was never very good until gen 5. gen 4 it was UU borderline so it could only be in OU where it couldn’t stand a chance. in gen 5 it became UU’s best revenge killer. then gen 6 and 7 it was just downhill. 4x weakness to rock is NEVER a good things
It speaks volumes about the Power Creep when a good Pokemon like Celebi isn't good enough for OU anymore. Monsters like Azumarill, Hoopa-U, both Thundurus Forms, and Salamence are stuck in BL.
The Power Creep is off the charts, OU is insane, and UU is effectively the new standard tier of competitive Pokemon, and who knows how long that will last.
Salamance is in Borderline! Holy cow. That isn't right.

in Gen VII UU, not many people use Psychium or Grassium Z. The preferred set from what I last saw was Groundium Z Earth Power with Nasty Plot ofc.

Why did the ban not last in Gen 3? It seems like it was super overcentralizing in OU, but you didn't explain why its ban didn't hold up.
Well., i never played in gen 3 but i think that because introduction of EV meand that you cant both be unkillable and murderous at the same time.
