I did say that not all the cars will have these issues I talked about. So, you are giving a thumbs down because you are assuming I said that every single Camry will have these issues. When, in fact, I did not say that. Go through the comments, you’ll find quite a bit of people validating the issues.
I have an 07 Camry XLE V6 and it's been a good car but not without it's challenges. Over the last 10 years I've had to. 1. replace front struts and mounts 2. R front axel shaft boot 3. Front brake pads 4. disc rotors front 5. Water pumped replaced at 114K miles, 6. replaced 2 stabilizer control bars 7. Rack and pinion replaced 126 K miles 8. L & R control arms replaced 9. spark plugs replaced 10. Alternator replaced twice 130K miles and 148 K miles 11. radiator replaced 149 K miles. Have also had the AC worked on which was expensive. Have 149 K on it now and it'll still go when I punch it. Not a fancy car and I've thought about replacing it but it's roomy and has a great trunk which comes in handy.
The holes in the pistons behind the oil control ring's get plugged up'. I use valveoline full synthetic 0w-20 . It's a very thin oil, helps free up the blockage. Engine still has good compression, oil burns because it stays in combustion chamber . I change it 3k miles. Oil is cheap engine expensive!
The problem is not that they are clogged but that it is a design flaw and they did not put enough oil return holes so that would not prevent the problem
I have an 08 Camry with 300,000 km on the clock. With routine services I've never had issues. They are still the most reliable cars around.. To my surprise it doesn't burn any oil at all.👍
@diedinparis8399 If you end up with a good one that has routine 5000 mile oil changes your lucky. If you end up with a lemon it's bad luck which unfortunately there were owners that ended up with bad ones, due to defective piston and rings.
My 2009 burns 3/4 quart every 1k miles. My parents have a 2007 and they have the same problem. I also get a big smoke cloud most mornings upon start up. It's been a dependable car but I'm really surprised at the lack of quality put out by Toyota. Stay away from 07-09. Buy 2010+
what do you do in your regular maintenance? can you tell me my dad gave me his 2010 camry (i4 tho) which is at 110k miles and only did like 5k miles in the last 4 years (i just use it to go school) but i wanna know how to maintain it so it stays new we dont really do maintenance thats why i had it repainted cuz the paint had decolorised (it looked like somebody threw acid on it)
I got the 2007 4 cyl. Oil issue was fixed before I got it last year. 138000 and drives like it's new. Put ceramic tint including a clear sheet on the windshield to protect the interior. I live in Texas. Car lot I bought it from did all the maintenance and repairs before they put it up for sale. Still check the oil often. I'm guessing the engines blow when you let them run out of oil.
Bought my 2007 Camry with 99,879. Miles and now over 84,k miles later has 184, miles and still runs fine, I just add a one quart of oil every month or every 1,500. Miles
the 2011 got the 2ar fe 2.5 liter update. same body different engine. I own one with around 200,000 and it runs fine, just be sure to change your oil atleast every 4000-5000 miles.
I have a 2011 Toyota Camry LE with 360,790 mi on it. I'm here to tell you that if you take care of your vehicle it will last I've only replaced a handful of parts that weren't even that expensive
do you have the 2.5 4 cylinder engine and the 6 speed automatic transmission ? I have a 2010 Camry LE with those components. Have you had the car since new? My camry only has 82,000 kilometers on it ! I had the coolant replaced very recently and i am getting the transmission fluid changed very soon also. Have ypu had any transmission issues with your car since it was new until now ? How many miles are now on your car ?
I had Camry 2002/ 2006. Now have 2007&2013 . The 2007 it does has oil consumption, but at this time most of the cars have same issues. Toyota Company extended the warranty to 150k or10 yrs old/ rebuilding your engine for free. Anyhow, my Camry has now 306k and still running great.
I’ve had a 2007 Camry LE for 10 years. It’s been wrecked in 2013 and body work done and you wouldn’t know it by the way it looks and drive. Compared to my Nissan Maxima I love my Toyota and won’t get rid of it.
The piston rings on the 2azfe engine wasn’t the problem. The problem was the oil return holes in the piston was getting clogged with carbon build up. I fixed a bunch of these when i worked for an independent shop. I would let the vehicles sit over night with seafoam in the bores which cleaned the return holes from carbon. It worked for me every time. Just remember the change the oil because the oil will be diluted with seafoam and also crank the engine over with the spark plugs out so whatever excess seafoam is in the cylinders will get blown out. I usually put a shop rag over the cylinders so seafoam doesnt go everywhere. Also i find that changing the oil every 3-3.5k and using quality fuel will keep carbon away froM the oil return holes in the pistons.
I assume it's cause the oil return holes aren't big enough? Think maybe drilling a couple extra holes or making the current holes bigger would solve the issue? Even though it wouldn't make since cause you can just buy new pistons, it shouldn't do any harm right? Piston weight would be off, but would it matter in this case?
@@Odamate yes the oil return holes were too small. If i did a rebuild i would fit the new updated pistons and have the engine rebalanced at a machine shop. A tiny bit of weight or lack of weight will make a big difference with engine harmonics. Maybe someone can weigh the old pistons vs new and see if the weight is different
@@blakedwyer8227 i personally change my oil every 3.5k and i always use synthetic. Oil is cheaper than engine work so I would say change it every 3.5k. Go to walmart and get supertech synthetic oil. 5 quarts for $13. I’ve been using supertech for over 5 years without a single problem. I did my valve cover gasket just a few days ago and i removed one of the cam bearings to check for wear and there was none.
My 07, 4 cylinder had 310k km. Dash is melted but mechanically it is still A1. Never burnt oil. Only mechanical fix i have done is shocks and a front wheel bearing. Not bad.
All true. The sticky dash will be replaced as there is a recall on it. Not only is it sticky, but the glare from the sun can obstruct your sight. I change the oil on an 07 every 3 months or so. I always end up getting 2-3 quarts out when drained on level surface. Not good.
I have heard a lot of these issues come from people who did not change the oil frequently enough.. this BS about long extended oil changes only destroys your engine.. More frequent oil changes make any car last and perform better.. more oil changes using standard oil is much better than using expensive oil with extended oil changes that is just plain dumb and stupid !!!
Test drove one over my weekend. Definitely does not have the power of my 6 speed manual Acura TL lol but it's still fun.. once you have a lot of power it's hard to go back
I bought a 2008 Toyota XLE V6 . . . . Had 173,000 kloms on it . . . In the first two weeks nothing but problems . . . $2500 in repairs of everything going on it . . Rear bearings, 02sensors galore, purge valve, steering, you name it . . . And on a warm day the whole dash melts into a glob of gew . . . Toyota also has inferior interior material quality . . . What a nightmare. . . I couldn't wait to get rid of that pile of junk.
you described the 4cyl perfectly but you should really emphasize how good and reliable the v6s are.. i have mine at 190k miles rn. original transmission blew at 185k. shes still goin tho
I feel like a lot of the mechanical issues are just due to lack of maintenance. I have a 2009 with the 2.4. Change my oil every 3000 miles. Doesn’t burn a drop of oil. I’m at 130 thousand. I will say I believe the automatic transmission is somewhat weak I have had a few other Camrys with some transmission issues. My current model has a 5 speed manual transmission. It’s been a great car for me especially when you compare it to the 2008 Chrysler 300 I had. Tons of issues with that. It’s all in how you take care of cars. Still Toyota is the superior brand of automobile.
Is a 07 Camry with88,102 miles for $1500 a good buy? It was garage kept, automatic transmission, no mechanical issues. The engine is 2.4 L, 4 cylinders. This is my first time buying a car so any help is appreciated!
my 07 v6 xle is running great with 170k kms. only expensive repair was needed to change the sparkplugs and coils and since the rear ones are hard to get to in v6, it was expensive. another issue is when the car drives over small bumps or pot holes the interior of the car doesnt feel solid, it makes rattle noise from the room liner, idk why. other than that no issues.
07 Camry has recall /warranty extension for oil line on rear bank it is a metal line going into a rubber hose back to a metal line and that rubber hose can and will burst causing massive oil leak trust me I know five quarts gone in less than 10 MI

I have a 2011 Camry that I've put 237,412 miles on. The only problem it has is a small power steering hose leak at the clamp. I saw your video and thought you were full of it. My dash is as perfect as it was when it left the manufacturing plant, no wetness, stickiness, cracks or any signs of deterioration, not even signs of normal wear and tare. The only time my hood comes up is to change the oil and I have a 4 cylinder with nearly a quarter of a million miles on it that is parked outside in my driveway everyday, not a garage. The only thing that I can agree with you on is the power steering hose, which is a $10 fix. Your video is extremely misleading. Well. Front passenger seat vibrates, camry with sunroof make annoying knocking sound and power steering pump whines even if the fluid and pump are replaced.
The 2az engines does vibrate idk why toyota designed the engine the way it did. The vibration can be caused by worn mounts, dirt build up in the maf and throttle body. Before replacing mounts i would suggest you clean the maf and throttle body(you dont have to take it off). As for the knock on the sunroof, i used a can of heavy duty silicone and sprayed the tracks and sunroof seal( very important) and that fixed my knocking sound from my camry. As for the power steering whine, does it happen all the time? Only when cold? What fluid did you use when you replaced the pump? Did you flush the ps system?

This review is absolutely ridiculous! I'm a proud owner of a 2011 Toyota Camry XLE V6 engine. Mileage is 106,000 miles. I have had 2 door lock actuators need to be replaced and that is it in 11 years. To have those go bad is very unusual for a Toyota Camry to have. I do ALL the required maintenance that is in the owner's manual. Regular scheduled oil changes at 5,000 miles when it was newer and now at 3,000 miles. At the appropriate mileage I have DRAINED not flushed the transmission fluid twice now, changed the coolant fluid, and I have had no other issues. Toyota Camry's are a cheap car when it comes to overall ownership of the vehicle and if you do what they recommend you will have very little issues. I would LOVE to buy American cars however they make shit vehicles in RUST colors only! If looking for a real honest car reviews go to Scotty Kilmer who is a car mechanic!
Expressing issues that people should be aware about before pulling the trigger is not lying. Just because the car is very reliable does not mean it has zero issues. Every car has issues. When they are repeat issues, that is a common issue. The issues will not happen to every Camry, obviously. Have a better day.

The 2010 and 2011 have a different engine, no oil burning issues.
To my surprise it doesn't burn any oil at all.👍
good to here, i might be getting a 08 camry with 200km, i hope it is as reliable as people say they are.
@diedinparis8399 If you end up with a good one that has routine 5000 mile oil changes your lucky. If you end up with a lemon it's bad luck which unfortunately there were owners that ended up with bad ones, due to defective piston and rings.

Thanks for sharing the info!!! I love seafoam. Works like a charm
As for the knock on the sunroof, i used a can of heavy duty silicone and sprayed the tracks and sunroof seal( very important) and that fixed my knocking sound from my camry.

nano silver killed thee ebola virus, perhaps will also kill coronavirus
Gods son Christ Jesus died on the cross for our sins so that by believing in him we can have life...belief in Christ Jesus be a free gift from the father, given to them [ through thee hearing of heth words ] whom he hath chosen for salvation
.
It’s all fake we had a Camry 2007 for 7 years and this issue had never come
Ahh, yess. All the owners who have had these issues are fake!
Just because your car, and many others have proven it’s worth, doesn’t mean there aren’t duds.
Let’s not force people to believe only one way when there are in fact lemons out there
My 07 Camry burns oil like a 1982 Chevy pick up
Shit man mine is too, I got the LE version. I'm adding like a quart every 100 miles. They say you can't even use a hone on these cylinders due to the cast iron liners. I don't even know what to do with it at this point.
@@Odamate 07 Camry has recall /warranty extension for oil line on rear bank it is a metal line going into a rubber hose back to a metal line and that rubber hose can and will burst causing massive oil leak trust me I know five quarts gone in less than 10 MI
@@99codzilla Ah, I see a massive improvement ever since I went to autozone. They cleaned the PCV valve for me. They even went through the trouble to jerry rigged a pcv hose cause the last one was cracked a little bit on the end that connects to the pcv. Oil doesn't get dirty like it did before + oil consumption was improved massively. I'll try and see if I can get the part number for the line you are talking about and replace it just for insurance down the road.
😂
What about the 2.5 liter engine?
Doing the opposite, watching this after buying
That still works 😂 hopefully the car doesn’t have many issues!
That’s me right now
This review is absolutely ridiculous!
@@AutoMotivate Having a great day actually. Just wanted other to be aware that your video is misleading that's all. Merry Chirstmas! 🎄🎁
Read through the comments, it isnt. Furthermore, just because you have not had these issues does not mean everyone else wont.
I have a 2011 Toyota Camry it’s an amazing car I bought it from my parents but after the 200k miles it does have some oil issues
I have to change the oil every 5k miles
@@stevencelis2303 .... So a typical oil change? I change my oil after every 3,000
2011s don't have the oil burning problem that was fixed with the 2009 facelift. I have a 2010 oil is always still on the full mark at every change. Just ticked over 200.000 kms.
Is yours the 2.4 or the 2.5.
I put a deposit on a 2.4L 2011 camry.
Sounds to me like it's the one with the issue
Got the information I needed the V6s are better
What do you say about Honda civic in respect of those things you said about Toyota Camry
If you opt for the V6 Camry for this Gen, then its more reliable than the Honda. However, the Honda is really not all that bad.
The dash is 100% true.
let me follow my dream.
Haters are going to hate
Not hate had an 07 dude it had problems out the ass
I have a 2007 v6 Camry that I bought off Facebook market place it runs nice and smooth but just recently the vsc system warning came on and then just yesterday the check engine light started flashing. About to take it to the shop tomorrow hopefully nothing major!
Nice
I got the same issue now, did you figure it out?
@@achebli9047 I had taken it to the mechanic for a diagnostic and they told me it was the ignition coil and a spark plug but the lights turned off after they gave it back to me… just got the ignition coil and a spark plug replaced two days ago and the lights are still off but now im getting heavy vibrations when I try to press the gas going past 40. TPS light came on though, so hoping it might be something with the battery because a headlight went out as well.
@@angelovaldivia6351 okay your situation seems better. My mechanic told me i need an O2 sensor. Lights went off and came back on the same day so i am going back
You showed the 5th generation twice. No 4th generation either.
My mom just got a 2011 LE with 60,000 miles
I have the third issue in my ‘09 SE
Honda Civic is a coffin compared to the big Camry lol
Bad video with only partial info. Its the 07-09 models that had oil issues and it didn't happen to all of them. I had a 2011 Camry that I passed on to my son; it now has 260K miles with no issues. None. Best care ever.
This video is nonsense. Toyota should take action.
You do realize all cars have issues, right?
If there are reports after reports of certain issues, doesn’t that classify as a common issue within a typical model?
I’ll answer that for you:
Yes.
Toyota is a fantastic car, but they aren’t perfect.
2009 le still drive like new 143k miles
Springs and shocks..... Picture of struts🧐
What do you drive?
I actually had a 2002 Mustang GT, that I recently sold. And now I drive both a 2008 Tahoe LS and I’m converting a 1999 Chevy Astro Van to a camper!
What do you drive?
2002 chevy z28 camaro and 2010 camry
I have all of the manuals for 2008 Camry which I am willing to give away - just contact me.
