I commented the other day asking if you lived in sw oklahoma cause the area looked familiar lol. Well lo and behold i ended up buying one of these rifles lol. Gen 1 but still super excited.
Yea I usually will only hunt with hornady black or some type of softpoint out of this rifle, but I figured a lot of people want to know how it will shoot with the cheaper ammo. The gen 1 liked just about anything you put through it.
@@TheHooliganOutdoors My CZ 527 eats everything & and shoots it very well. However, these are going up in value so much & so fast that I don't bring it hunting. I may have to pick up a Ruger 7.62X39mm. I've got 2 Ruger Americans in 308 that are tack drivers. A 16 1/2" and a 22". What has been the best performing soft point on deer for you?
@@frankbrowning328 do you have the 527 carbine or the 527 American? I have been trying to find an American in x39 for several years and haven't had any luck.
@@TheHooliganOutdoors , My Gen.1 is a tack driver My son just got a Gen.2 gotta take it to the range n check it out.... None of those 3 expand at all for me in my rifle though.. I reload x39 for hunting ammo.... be well.
I actually get light primer strikes with Wolf MC HPs on my Gen I American Ranch. It shoots some steel case just fine (both reliability and accuracy) but not that one.
Those are the only 5 rounds I've shot of the Wolf, so this one may do that to if I shot them enough. Fortunately that's not going to happen since they don't group well at all in this rifle. lol
Barnaul HP in my Gen 1 shoots very good but after I put the bird cage on it went south. Now my Gen 1 likes federal sp. I still use barnaul hp for hunting put down two deer DRT last year.
I've heard the federal softpoints are pretty good, I just can't ever find any locally. The hornady is all I can really find at academy, but it's pretty rare to find that lately.
i would have been REALLY curious to see the performance of the Hornady SST bullets you shot yesterday in these crosswinds to see if the group held up. That's the REAL test, not the cheap ammo, and at what distance??
100 yards and I sighted it in a few days ago with the Hornady in stronger winds than these, so I could go hunt with it and it did 3 shots a little less than 1/2 inch.
I wasn’t impressed with any of those loads either. The Brown Bear I will never buy again if I can keep from it. They performed terribly out of my Zastava M70 although I don’t think they were subsonic but still looked like I shot my target with 00Buck at 50 yards.
@@christopherwisby8926 I bought one when they went on sale for a hundo and I like it enough that I ended up buying 2 more of them. Definitely worth it if you're ok with a regular duplex reticle and no bdc.
Right on I might have to snag one for a spare. I have the gen 1 version. I run a vortex 3-9 with a bdc and a PA slx pistol red dot on top for subsonics. This rifle just puts a grin on the face every time! Keep up with the good content!
The whole russin ban kinda of ruined things as well. Monarch was made in russia, but after the ban I was still able to find some at academy off and on, although I assume it was just back stock they were selling. Haven't seen any more in quite a while.
This is a good video on how some ammo does better than others. My Gen 1 in 7.62x39 really loves the Wolf Ammunition black box. Keep trucking .
Thank you.

Yep, I'm near the Lawton area. The Gen 1 is a very good rifle, I will never get rid of mine.
It would be interesting to see that test again without the can on
Back in the day, I only shot 3 shot groups with sporter barrels. Also, I never shot off my bench rest if the wind was blowing over 5mph.
I had good luck with bear, Barnaul and wolf 124-125 grain soft points in my Gen I. I use them for deer damage tags in the summer
Probably going to order some wolf softpoints right now. Just went and checked a few places locally and all anyone has is fmj.
Looking at this vs the Gen 2. Any magazine issues, feeding issues? Do you recommend one over the other?
In the previouse video it shot so well with the Hornady Black that I'm sure it's more than capable of great accuracy with what it likes.

My gen 1 loves the 123 grain red army standard for cheap ammo
I have a gen 1 that also loves the cheap red army ammo
What distance are you shooting? I like your videos by the way.
Thanks man, 100 yards 👍
If u had to pick one gen1 or 2 cant really decide which one to get
Do you plan on testing hand loads?
Yea I usually like to find a good factory hunting round to have as a back up. I'll start working on handloads pretty soon.
how many yards ?

@@TheHooliganOutdoors It was pretty bad.
Mine shoots wolf Military classic 124gn hp’s .75” groups allllllday long. Same with the Hornady sst black.
How do you like that PA Slx 3-9? Doe it punch above its weight for the money?
You have the gen2? I don't know why, but mine doesn't like it at all. lol

I never see the monarch hollow points at academy anymore 😢
I used to buy it all the time back when it was 5 bucks for the box of 20 rounds back in 2017
@texaspatriot9159 I know man, I remember it being 5.99. Guess the good old days are over. Reloading is better in the long run anyways though!

Yes sir I need to get into reloading because it's definitely going to get worse
