Best Budget Bike Park Bike? YT Capra Core 1 Test

- I took my YT Capra Core 1 to a bike park! I visited Ober Bike Park in Gatlinburg Tennessee and this was my first time getting to really get my Yt Capra Core 1 MX up to speed and get a feel for how this bike would handle the bike park! If you’ve been watching my channel I’m doing a Summer video series to see “Will a budget MTB satisfy the average mountain bike rider” so having a bike that can handle bike park style terrain was crucial to this test because I believe that’s a super important part of a mountain bike! I want a well rounded bike that’s not only fun on my local trails but in a bike park as well! That way in no way shape or form is your bike holding you back from being able to ride new terrain! In this video I’ll share my thoughts on how the YT Capra performed and handled its first of many bike park adventures! My full breakdown of my summer experiment:
So recently I had an idea that I got so hyped on I said screw it, I'm doing it and I'm going to be the test dummy for this experiment. Listen.
In a world where a decent mountain bike will cost you several thousand dollars it's hard to make that big of a leap of purchasing a new bike, Whether you're a new comer into the sport or someone just looking for an upgrade. Believe me I understand, I've had my YT jeffsy for 5 years and loved it but wanted to try something new.however As a husband and now father, the thought of spending that much money on another bike is hard to stomach. And the urge to ride something new has been stronger than ever after just recently spending a weekend riding my buddies Canyon strive CFR at snowshoe bike park. And that is what spawned this idea: can a budget friendly bike satisfy the average mountain bike rider? Or should you save up and take the hit of buying a more expensive mountain bike.
The Yt Capra core 1 looks like it should pack an insane amount of value for the price and with it sitting at $2300 currently, plus I'm a huge YT fan, as well as my current YT has held up. So over the summer I'm going to be putting this bike through the paces and testing it bone stock to the limit to let you know, is it worth it? How's it perform? How it climbs, handles the bike parts etc, and how it holds up over a season of riding , if it's required upgrades etc, to help you know if a budget MTB will satisfy your trail needs? Or is the price tag with a higher end bike necessary for a good time.

not only bike parks!! i got it 2 days ago as a big travel all rounder and it has surprised me in all aspects! great value bike, of course a couple of things will be replaced in the future but its an absolute steal!!!! nice video brother

I bought a yt capra 1
2 weeks ago and whenever I move the steering wheel left or right there is a clicking sound
Weird. Did you check and make sure the stem and headset are tight 🧐

Do you think this bike would be able to handle snow shoe in WV?
100%. I had full plans to take mine there actually but we wound up not fitting in another snowshoe trip due to work. Definitely taking it next year
How does it pedal? How would it be as a 1/3 trail bike 1/3 enduro 1/3 park bike?
That’s essentially exactly what I bought it for! It’s not the fastest climber but it does well and does it comfortably. My local trails are quite pedally and more XC oriented and I’ve still had a blast taking it to them. Plus then on the descents and jumps etc, it’s so worth it to carry maybe a tiny extra weight up for the way it performs on the way down. I bought it to basically be a budget do it all bike and it’s done so exceptionally well. I did quite a few trail rides on it locally then 2 bike park trips and had a blast everytime I was on it

Man we do all the same stuff. Move to the west coast so we can be friends. Any plans to upgrade the Zebb damper to make it a ultimate? Also I’ll be selling the code rs off my new bike that gets here tomorrow. Just couldn’t give up my Zee brakes. I’d cut you a deal. I read that the nx eagle can be shifted with a shimano xtr shifter. I really like my current xt with finger and thumb capabilities for upshifting. I’ll give the nx a try but probably move to the xtr. Also read a xt derailleur works with the nx stuff.
Haha believe me I wish I could move out west 🤣it’s where I want to be for sure! I haven’t decided yet. I’m gonna ride it stick the rest of this year and then start looking to upgrades in the winter and see what all I want to change. Nice! I do like the Zee brakes, I’ve used them in the past. So far the DB8s aren’t bad, they feel just like my Guides I was used too. Nx isn’t bad so far. Definitely not as smooth and crisp as the xtr (got to test it on my buddies canyon strive) but it does the job with no issues so far
Honestly the tires is my only complaint thus far. I’m going back here in September and curious if I drop the pressure a bit and if it’s less dusty how they’ll do. I definitely was afraid to go full speed with how they were feeling the day I was here.
@@BoardsBikesAndHikes I mean out here right now it’s super dusty and on a dhr/dhf on my giant reign it can be pretty slick. And that’s tubeless running f22/r24. I’m 200lbs without gear. Def going tubeless when I set up the new ride. I have a new high roller 2 in 2.5 I think I’ll toss on the rear. It’s a max terra 3c tire. Save the stock tire as back up. I’m changing a bunch of stuff right away. Just can’t help myself 😂

How do you like the suspension? I’ve heard mixed reviews on the zeb base fork and I’m trying to decide if I should buy the core 1 or the 2 for the fox suspension
I actually really like the simplicity of it. Setup was super easy and I think it rides really well. Every scenario I’ve ridden it through so far it’s been a joy to ride 😁
I got this bike right after riding my buddy’s Canyon strive that was the top spec model with a fox 38 and I had just as much fun on this and thought the suspension did almost as good but for a fraction of the cost. Super happy with my purchase. I’m currently working on a full year review 😁🤙🏻

I borrowed my budies extra bike (YT Capra) for a few months to get back on the bike after not riding for a decade. Im not sure what build it is, but it has Rockshox Lyric front and Super Deluxe rear, Shimano SLX drivetrain, Race Face cranks and pedals, Code 4 piston brakes, and 27.5 DT Swiss 1900 wheels with Maxxis tires.
This bike is pretty sweet. As a former DH racer, I really like the way it handles on steep rocky descents. I thought the parts spec wouldnt perform all that great but it has pleasantly surprised me.
Nice!!! It’s a really fun bike I think! I definitely agree, I can’t wait to get it into more steeper and chunkier terrain because honestly just the little bit of steeps I’ve gotten it on so far, it feels fantastic! I really really like how it rides and the position it puts you in
@BoardsBikesAndHikes I live next to Whiskeytown Lake in northern California, and we have some world class downhill trails around here. And hundreds of miles of steep, chunky, flowy single-track. If you ever get a chance come out here and spend a couple weeks hitting up some local trails. Plus we have dozens of waterfalls, and a couple of large lakes.

Yeah the first thing you shouldve done was swap to tubeless. Tubes are for noobs.
Yaaa. I’m used to tubeless so not a fan of running tubes again. I just wanted to see how I liked the tires before I did full tubeless setup
