It really amazes me how much food Joe can have in such short time before the sessions so that he can properly digest it and not feeling like having an interrupted digestion all the time!
Yeah I can literally eat something and then go straight into it. A guy I used to train with used to swear by having fish and chips before a track session as he said if you can run on that you’ll have no problem in an Ironman! 😂
I need at least 3 hours after eating before I train! I guess it's just about how you've trained your body over the years. It's probably that you've trained your body to rely on the immediate glucose in your bloodstream rather than what's in storage. I guess either can work but I think I know which is better for you long term.
@@richardmiddleton7770 don’t think its whatbive trained myself to do. If you had to wait 3 hours after eating before you trained it would be impossible to get a big volume of training in as you would be constantly waiting and doing nothing and also I reckon you would struggle to enough calories in to fuel big days. Ive never had a problem training after eating.
@@joeskipper91 I meant 3 hours for a meal. A banana or a spoonful of nut butter is fine immediately before for me. I actually did 7.5hr ride the other day (125 miles) completely fasted, only water and salt so my body is pretty good at using what it already has stored from the day before. It's all trainable. I'd rather not have that constant fueling as an extra thing to think about.
@@richardmiddleton7770 my body is similar to yours: my body uses stored glycogen and body fat to fuel super long training sessions even with hard sessions thrown in. Works well for me as I can’t train so soon after eating like Joe “buffet” skipper does
Soo good to see an honest pro actually showing the amount of fuel it takes for such hardcore training program instead of a smoothie, half a salad and a few leafs like some of those pros say they eat. Take note people to be a pro sone of us need to eat loads :) in my opinion
love this, I'm 68KG and doubel training days trying to fit in 3700 calories the struggle is real with having food in the house, miss a shopping trip and its every man for himself
It is amazing how you never seem tired. Steam Sweet potatoes, brocoli, leeks and squash, for 20 mins, then roast with a ton of beet root, and Bulgar wheat. Once done garnish with good chilli olive oil, walnuts and humous.
Great video Joe Your viewers will thank you for keeping it real 👊🏻 Don't worry about sugar in your drinks, you need as much as you can with all your training, you gotta replace your glycogen stores 💪🏻 Keep the great videos coming 👍🏻
It would be interesting to do the same video in one of your training camps. Maybe the next one in Girona? It's so hard to cook in a shared kitchen without your usual seasonings and knowing you have to eat what you buy at the moment. (maybe it's because my camps are much shorter haha)
If I ate that much food in a day I would be doubled over in CRAMPS and would have to sit on the toilet for 45 min. I eat about 1 to 2 meals per day between 10AM and 2PM ( intermittent fasting) and I have a truck load of energy. I run approx. 25 miles per week between 7:15 and 9 min per mile pace.
Wow, he eats so much food! I know that all calories are the fuel for his workouts and general health, I can’t imagine how $ is to support this athlete,!
You want some my breakfast pancakes. Its like Michel Roux Junior as an IRONMAN. I wonder what he would make you for breakfast, he likes endurance sport.
Ha ha no mate its a tiny fridge but due to covid there was a 6 month wait on the fridge freezer we were getting so had to use this one in the mean time.
Ha ha mate we’ve been doing the kitchen up and the fridge we are supposed to be getting has been delayed for 3 months so far so this one is a make do one until the proper one comes. Have got a bigger one downstairs where we are having to transfer things from but covid as made the wait for things like appliances massive.
Gustav Iden eats pizza for breakfast, boomer. (That was a joke. I mean Gustav did post a video of himself eating pizza for breakfast, but still generally a joke).
You call yourself a top athlete yet you're not even hand butchering your own organic meat and harvesting seasonal produce from your local permaculture small holding? 😉 Keeping it real mate, like your style.
Superb video and generally informative whilst getting a behind the scenes look at how the best in our sport do it. Random is how joe works and why he’s well liked.
Gotta love the honesty and no BS about joe. This def one of my fav channels. Keep it up guys

The secret food cupboard seems to be a running theme with triathletes other half’s 🤣👍🏻
Jav van berkel watching this whilst angrily eating his 15th avocado for the day
This has gotta be the related to full day of eating I’ve ever seen😂 you’re a legend mate
Well done on keeping it real Joe and calling out those idealistic channels! You get far more from your content than most as a result.
Great video Joe
Your viewers will thank you for keeping it real 👊🏻

Joe is so funny… such a natural
Great video joe. I would like to know if you have the joe skipper cook book coming out anytime soon
Such a relief to see an honest “day in the life” when it comes to your daily nutrition!! 👍😅
Would love to know the average weekly grocery spend. These are some very nice foods in high volumes. No doubt it adds up to a good chunk of cash
Definitely
joe is definitly a beast in his training and in his eating 😀 i guess every pro can become a chef when they retire
Thanks for sharing joe. Do you try to hit any nutrition targets for the day, a certain amount of carbs or protein, or do you just do it by feel?
Just do it by feel mate.
Necking redbull, eating pork scratchings, the Chanel for all the top tips, majic, keep it up fella!!

We are going to drive to the camp and we will have my dad with us so I can guarantee you the food will be a lot nicer!
@@joeskipper91 true. You said it in yesterday's podcast!
looking forward to all the new discoveries you make during your kitchen tour video 😂
The kitchen 🤩

Ha ha mate it costs a lot. My partner can attest to this! 😂
The most honest what a triathlete eats in a day video! Just raiding cupboards.
Yep
Joe still eating the same a year later. I'm fed up, can you share some more recipes with us before I go off granola forever?
Well done on the Ironman Tenby win
I'm surprised how much food Joe ate in just 17 minutes and 11 seconds. That's why he's pro!
aww nice a triathlete watching a boxing match mayweather vs marquez :), thought its only me. pretty cool dude
Your thermomix is looking ancient, time you upgraded to a newer version Joe
Thought i spotted a bontrager wavecell helmet :D
You want some my breakfast pancakes. Its like Michel Roux Junior as an IRONMAN. I wonder what he would make you for breakfast, he likes endurance sport.
Chef Mic in the house
Got to ask Joe, which bakery was that croissant from? Looked delicious! 😀
It was from breadsource mate.
New Pad Joe 🤩
When’s the next FDOE !
Is that a normal size fridge in the UK?
Ha ha no mate its a tiny fridge but due to covid there was a 6 month wait on the fridge freezer we were getting so had to use this one in the mean time.
Is this all year round, pre comp, taper, big training block?
Thats what i had on that particular day but i do vary the evening meals etc. the training day i did for this day will be the next video i upload.
What sort of things are you making in your Thermomix?
Raspberry and pistachio, sounds like you’ve been to bread source :)
Love that Joe 💪
I love Joe skipper! They're all lying guys 🤣
Tut tut - someone didn't eat their salad at 3:18
What the fuck is that fridge…..
Ha ha mate we’ve been doing the kitchen up and the fridge we are supposed to be getting has been delayed for 3 months so far so this one is a make do one until the proper one comes. maybe a little bit more protein.
I don't know how people can afford this. The food, the equipment the registration fees.
Yes

This must be a Tuesday
Has Uncle Omicron got you Joe.? Looking a little sniffly
God knows.
De la hoya vs. Mayweather
;-)
A classic eh!
The crunching at 14:05 is absolutely unnecessary.
Not really one of your best videos…..all a bit random and not sure how much anybody learned from it
