As you all know this is part of the golden years of pmg . I witnessed this track at the Manchester apollo as part of their first circle world tour . Memories are brought back by this wonderful band bravo
Pat and Lyle-a lifetime devoted to studying their improv styles wouldn’t exhaust the learning opportunities. Kudos to you guys for having the courage to go down that road. The in and out heads are spot on, although Pat’s acoustic sound is tough to emulate with pedals. I LOVED the Lyle-esque reharmonization during the piano solo, the autoharp stuff and the great synth sounds. To the guitar player: don’t hesitate to carefully analyze the modes to use when soloing on this tune. Pat’s playing is so effortless, I fell into the trap years ago of believing I should be able to do similar things by ear. But his effortlessness was won through many, many, many hours of analysis and working out the details of how to play phrases through the changes, in addition to his great ears and instincts. Best wishes to you. You’re off to a good start. I think it’s wonderful that you guys are learning this material that’s very dear to many of us.
Hi Dave! First of all, thank you!! For listening, and for taking time to write to us. Indeed the sound is tough to emulate. The dual amp and fxs setup is a bit too much for us hahaha. I'm glad you liked the keys/piano part! Got this autoharp for cheap on Kijiji a few years ago. I scratched my head a lot before understanding how to make this instrument sound like that (taking off the chord bars and the alternate tuning...). Very clever, and it blends so nicely with the nashville guitar. I'm always very happy to read interesting and long comment like yours, especially considering that you are a musician too. Cheers from Mtl!
On my 30th birthday I lived 3 blocks from Pat’s apartment (answering machine location) in Cambridge, MA. I was, and am, a super fan of Pat’s (though I wasn’t stalking him - I just happened to live there). A very good friend retrieved a guitar from a repair shop that I had purchased in 1977 - a blond ES175 knockoff I purchased before I ever heard a note of Pat’s music - and showed up at my outdoor birthday party at my house finger-syncing Phase Dance while dressed just like Pat down to the tiny bag/purse he used to carry around (for picks??) and donning a fairly accurate wig. My buddy is hilarious and a VERY good imitator so he got all the grimaces and tippy toe leaning forward stuff. Plus he is an excellent guitarist. Excellent entrance!! I was 100% surprised. Then, later that day I called Pat and he was home, answered and spoke with me for an hour!! Quite the birthday. Seeing the striped shirt in your video reminded me of that day. Long live Pat Metheny!
Fantastic stuff, all! Did my heart good to hear PMG so beautifully represented. Hoping you get a chance to hit the road and come to California some time.
I've had to reappraise my opinion on 'tribute bands' because of you lot, I'm having a right philosiphical meltdown... I can only repeat what everyone else has said so far, amazing stuff! And let's not forget the talents of the recording engineer... Thank you all, I look forward to more. Cheers from the UK
Oh, wow, you guys are absolutely rocking it. I hope one day very soon you can come to San Antonio, Texas. I've seen PMG a few times in my lifetime and you guys do them justice. Phenomenal sound. Congratulations
This is amazing! PMG has always been a favorite of mine. I love the added touch of the striped t-shirt! Perfect... I need to see and hear more! Where can I see First Circle LIVE in concert?
Hey! Haha glad you liked the shirt. We don't have any dress code, except for this xD Seriously, thank you so much for your comment. We're from Montreal, Quebec, so we expect to play in the area for now, but who knows where we could end up! There are PMG fans all around the world...
@@firstcirclepmgt I'm looking forward to First Circle going Global. I live South of Cleveland Ohio. I'm going to have to keep my eyes open. I've seen PMG three times and another time with the Side Eye tour. Unbelievable! Thank you for sharing the love. 🌎✌️❤️⚛️

Would love to see you guys live in Florida.
We'd love too! Not an easy task, with a band of that size, but we never know.
Fantastic Job, much respect !!!!!!
Nicely Done !
Thanks Joe!
Raggiante esilarante sinergico la forza di superare il talento dei geni in un sodalizio davvero bruciante....very very good .
Grazie mille, Max!
Great work! Piano and guitar play together so well, just like Lyle and Pat!
Thanks, Bob!!
Fantastic musicianship
Astounding! Reminds me of the music from the band "Wind Machine" that used to hail from Louisville, Colorado.
Thanks!! I don't know that band but I'll check it out for sure.
Fantastic stuff, all! Did my heart good to hear PMG so beautifully represented.
Hoping you get a chance to hit the road and come to California some time.
Thank you Jim! Oh we hope too.

Excellent. Thanks

Siete molto reali...Complimenti
Grazie!
Ça sonne!!!
thx man!!
Sta bene, bravi!
Grazie!!
Great stuff, especially loved the piano solo
Thank you, Alan :)
This might be my favorite PMG album, you guys nailed this. Will you be doing San Lorenzo?
Thanks again! San Lorenzo, I'd say maybe one day. It would require an additional autoharp, that's the problem...
Great class. Everything in style, but the drums and percussion in particular good taste
Thanks Herman! I will share your comment with Simon and Nicolas :)
Vous êtes géniaux ! On s'y croirait ! A quand la Manzer Pikasso ? 😉
Merci beaucoup!! Hahaha ce serait incroyable, mais il faudrait faire faire un modèle gaucher... Je n'ose même pas imaginer combien ça coûterait!
Cool, love your music.
Thx! Well it's actually Pat & Lyle's music ;)
@@firstcirclepmgt my commitment was in reference the performance not the ownership of the music 😊
@@brittenmusic6923 I know ;) And thank you so much! I just felt like it was important to say. We owe these guys everything!
@@firstcirclepmgt indeed we do...a lifetime of music to study, play and learn. 😊
I'm sure Pat is aware of this ensemble & is proud of them. At least I think they do his music justice, if that's the right word.
Thank you so much, Bruce! Well I don't know if he's personnaly aware of it, but his manager is. We asked for an ok before goign forward.

You brought the autoharp!!
Of course!!
It seems that Pat-like dressed Lyle is playing the guitar‼️
hahahaha kinda
Wow! Weird Al really got good.
🫵👑
I thought Lyle or one of the Allman Brothers was on guitar.
xD
Wtf
