I can imagine that this and the Muffaletta would be great tools to have in a small studio, to tweak sounds and layer different guitars with slightly different tones.
I know I'm very late to the party here but I just bought this pedal due to advice from Sweetwater and for a minute questioned my decision until I watched this!!! Yes the TS to end all indeed thanks for the demo... awesome 💯😎👊🏻
There’s a lovely bit of fizz on the TS7. Really a big fan of that and the OD1 I love how JHS kept it true to the original by now having a tone knob on the OD1
Wow! Well done Sir! I'm a huge JHS fan and play thier pedals. I also love my old little green box and have always stuck with it, but this video, the way you played each demo, was so well explained verbally and musically! I will be purchasing a new green box now, thank you very much! Truly well done! Cheers!
Yeah man, I was just thinking the same thing. I own several JHS pedals and I would love to see demos of more JHS on this channel. These reviews are always the best. I’ve been watching a lot of demos of the Bonsai and I forgot how awesome it is. Definitely ordering one.
Hmm... I typically use mine as more of a boost than an overdrive, but even when I used as an OD I still haven't noticed any significant amount of noise from mine.
Mihai Florea I would say, practice, dedication and just going for it with oodles of tenacity. He definitely comes accross a fantastic guy. That will help. I would assume that he has the ability to take criticism and turn it into a positive. He is also seems quite humble, but must be strong willed and quietly confident. Anyone that loses weight must have a strong, can do attitude
Yo Bea ur my fav demo guy because of ur heavy and fluent playing style and tone, I do love vintage single coils and strats the way u use them. Sweet tone. Make MORE VIDEOS! NOW! Thank you.
Great demo Bea! Sounds wicked through the Kraken, placed an order on a Bonsai and are now waiting for it to arrive so I can go nuts with it! Thx for great content!
I just got this pedal an hour ago, must admit i have the ts9 already, and its spot on, and i assume the rest are as well since ive never used them. Very awesome gives a good variety of settings to help add to your amp.
I’m surprised by how good each one of the circuits were, normally when I hear ‘multipack’ I think of those horrid digital multi fx pedals or a school Yamaha keyboard with the ‘dj’ button. Surprised me, each one was bloody awesome!
I'm Polish and I've been playing guitar since 1992. Remember them Exars on the market whilst I was looking for my first equipment back in the day, never considered one just as none of my friends did. Now I see this. Seems like I have been wrong all these years. But as far as I remember they sounded total shite. Splendid demo man, as usual. BR, Ig
Hey man, there are a lot of really good review videos of this pedal. That being said, yours is my favorite review and pushed me over the edge to buy one. Thanks!
Thank the guitar gods for this video. All other videos don't demo it with active pickups. Everyone uses a Fender with low gain. Don't get me a wrong, great for demoing it, but you don't get that thrash or shredding demo. Seems to have some great tone ans fairly clean for how thick and hot it got.
From the od1 there are only subtle differences live . Exception is the keeley mod version . Pretty cool pedal ,cause we all love one of those TS models.
I like it, but since I like to stack ODs and get different qualities that way i'll have to pass on a 9 in 1, though the average player who loves TS be jumping on with both feets.
Great video but what would your views be on using it with a solid state amp I know you have been busy but hopefully you can reply you are an amazing guitarist maybe in the future you could do a video not just using different guitars single and humbucker but Including a solid state amp thanks stay safe
1:17 Oh... digital relays? I thought it was just a selector. Then that's too bad they didn't go the extra miles then to have the relays controlled by midi. It would been interesting for people that use a pedalboard with a switcher and then been able to switch between different setting for each presets. After all, if they already use digital relays, they're half-way there (I know, I know, the second half isn't an easy task, would require a midi controller, midi inputs, etc... but still, that would be nice).
Yeah, maybe... but probably not _that much_. Midi controller are not really expensive in component (probably around $10 or so). The most difficult part would be to see if they would also have memory/recall for the knob positions. That's a way different story than the relays... and that could probably add a bigger cost. But still, I would have like it... I know I like it on my Elektron Analog Drive. So great to easily setup something and save it as a preset to recall later. You change guitar with different pickup load, then you can dial a different setting and save it as another preset and recall them at any time... I personally like this whole "Digitally Controlled Analog Gear", it's the best of both world. YMMV - My 2¢
rabea, the leslie west from across the pond! love your vid's I like that you pick one pedal and take it through its paces. I wish you could have done this pedal with a clean strat. I have one strat with tex-mex and one with pure vintage original '59's. use the ibenez os-9 on both and a blues jr III
is there any possibility to create a version with options to automatically change the types of the nine timbres? Example: using a Red Remote to select available Ts modes?
Man have u ever thought about doing a review of the boss gt100 processor? I know it is an old one but i m sure plenty of us have them. I think that would be pretty fun and usefull. Let s see what tones u can dial on that haha
Hey Bea, can i use the slave out of my amp and run it into my interface and use the twonotes IR software in my daw to get cab tones?... (I will still have my 4x12 hooked up of course)
Hey Bea! Got a question if your able to answer, if your primary amp was something like v40 slightly cleaning, what distortion pedal would you use for that high gain, really tight, mid pushed sound you get with the kraken? Anyone welcome to comment to help me out!
I have one pushing a REVV G4 and it tightens the distortion up very well. drive off, volume at 12 o'clock, and tone at 2 o'clock. I run into a cab sim and it sounds great.
Hamad Al Mutawa it’ll definitely affect the end result and how you hear it. Besides I’m proud to use these pieces of gear and I’ll always promote them alongside the products I’m reviewing... just because :)
If your first solo album isn't called "It's Worth Pointing Out..." I'll be really disappointed
that or "In All Fairness..."
I reckon
That was worth pointing out mate
First track: "In a nutshell"
And don’t forget “To be fair”.
Tone is in the afro.
....agreed
@fastguitar you high?
Just got one. Great little pedal. I use it to cook my Metal Zone. Awesome response. Lots of settings to choose from. Well made.
I can imagine that this and the Muffaletta would be great tools to have in a small studio, to tweak sounds and layer different guitars with slightly different tones.
This video as much demonstrates how extraordinarily versatile the Kraken is!
*insert generic 'no clean channel' comment here*
Simon Singh, It sure as hell does!!
Pedal is nice. To be honest I come for the sick playing 😂. Nice review.
I know I'm very late to the party here but I just bought this pedal due to advice from Sweetwater and for a minute questioned my decision until I watched this!!! Yes the TS to end all indeed thanks for the demo... awesome 💯😎👊🏻
Hands down...the MOST comprehensive demo/review of the JHS Bosai pedal I’ve found on YT.
Thanks for posting this vid!!!
There’s a lovely bit of fizz on the TS7. Really a big fan of that and the OD1

I always liked TS9 over 808. Especially with British-voiced amps.
Trouble is, I'm a really shit guitarist LOL
Matt Gilbert ...but hey ur honest ! ...cheers 🍻
That black Strat is something. Beautiful!
Would love to see more jhs on here! Absolutely love them
Yeah man, I was just thinking the same thing. I own several JHS pedals and I would love to see demos of more JHS on this channel. These reviews are always the best. I’ve been watching a lot of demos of the Bonsai and I forgot how awesome it is. Definitely ordering one.
Best review of the Bonsai!
JHS forgot to include the Joyo Vintage OD circuit. Lol
Tom Jeffrey Macalisang ha, I guess it's pretty useless then
It's alrightsounding, I just find it a bit noisy
Hmm... I typically use mine as more of a boost than an overdrive, but even when I used as an OD I still haven't noticed any significant amount of noise from mine.
Yes i think so
jajajajajajaj jajajajjaja
i just don't understand how this guy is good at everything haha
Hard work and passion, dude.
And the Fro! :P
yeah hes great. Very enjoyable playing
He been slowly tainting the water supply with Epic Musicians Grade LSD ... Everyone loves Bea now.
Mihai Florea

Top notch demo of a super pedal, thank you Rabea.
Bea can make anything sound good
Four years later I'm here and I enjoyed the video. Now heading out to buy one to tame the low end in my Mesa JP2C.
Yo Bea ur my fav demo guy because of ur heavy and fluent playing style and tone, I do love vintage single coils and strats the way u use them. Sweet tone. Make MORE VIDEOS! NOW! Thank you.
Came for the pedal review (getting one for my birthday) and stayed for same-plus tasty, sweetly overdriven jams. Wow!
Great demo Bea! Sounds wicked through the Kraken, placed an order on a Bonsai and are now waiting for it to arrive so I can go nuts with it!
Thx for great content!

Still liking it?
You make everything sound awesome!
Ima have to get this :)
I'm l9 lol llokknjjjjj
Lmi8nnkiij bene non mamma i
Nice tones and great playing 👍

thanks! no digital emulation here... just exact analog replication!
oh no digital scary boo hoo boomer
Been playing for about 3 years and rabea has been a favorite of mine since year 1! Thanks for inspiring me to play better all the time
@Rabea, can you make another video where you play a riff / lick on a looper and just switch between each mode?
Great vid Rabea!
BR, Ig
It must be really fun being Rabea. He looks like he's totally absorbed.
Superb playing Bea, absolutely loved it!
The TS7 was my favorite tone great demo!
19:42 Yes siree
Hey man, there are a lot of really good review videos of this pedal. That being said, yours is my favorite review and pushed me over the edge to buy one. Thanks!
Great demo! Awesome player.
Amazing! Bea's videos are the best!
I was just looking at this pedal online. Thanks for the awesome demo!
You got yourself a payback coming Rabea Massaad!
froTUNES! a GREAT way to start my day! Thanks Rabea!
Great demo dude... makes me want one more than I already did.
The MSL makes me think of Tool. Great as always Bea.
Oh man. You make me wanna buy everything you demo
Thanks Rabea!
Always gotta smash that like button
Thx for vid. I am sure now that I'm def.going push my Kraken with this nice Bonsai ODs selection. Thx B.
holy afro, I could listen to you all day
Bea makes the faces were all thinking 🤘🏻
From the od1 there are only subtle differences live . Exception is the keeley mod version . Pretty cool pedal ,cause we all love one of those TS models.
Bea How have you got that big sound from the bridge pickup of the Strat, mine quite not like that and I have got Texas Specials
I like it, but since I like to stack ODs and get different qualities that way i'll have to pass on a 9 in 1, though the average player who loves TS be jumping on with both feets.
What are the pickups in that strat? Sounds really good.
Single coils 😁
Coming soon : The New JHS™ 12³√46⅞ ÷ π² Classic All-In-One Copycat Ring Mod Extravaganza!
Christopowaaa I see you’re a fan of JHS. 😂😂😂😂
...lol
I'll take 2
we should do a ring mod... never did one of those.
lol
Great video but what would your views be on using it with a solid state amp I know you have been busy but hopefully you can reply you are an amazing guitarist maybe in the future you could do a video not just using different guitars single and humbucker but Including a solid state amp thanks stay safe
Seems like something I'd love in the studio a bunch but would hate live. Great playing as always Bea!
Chris Pryce why?
ilias takidis I'd end up wanting to use all 9 during the set and end up making my audience watch me fiddle with an overdrive lol
I dig it.
How many ways can you say/spell "Excellent"?
SO many choices!
1:17 Oh... digital relays? I thought it was just a selector. Then that's too bad they didn't go the extra miles then to have the relays controlled by midi. Phil Smith Not sure if that would have fit in their price point. I’m no expert but I’m sure that would have hiked the price.
Yeah, maybe... but probably not _that much_. Midi controller are not really expensive in component (probably around $10 or so). how difficult would it be to have this pedal modded with relays controlled by midi?
Sweet!
@ 27:03 Holy guacamole! Smokin'!!
FUCKING AMAZING BEA!!
It'd be awesome if this could be programmable like the Strymon pedals.
I hate strats and sold the last one I owned, so not sure it makes sense for me to own one. Hmm.
Great video. Thanks.
I think if Bea took out all the audio in his demo videos, we could determine super easily what the verdict is haha
Nice bit of kit that.
Great video
You are a beast
rabea, the leslie west from across the pond! love your vid's I like that you pick one pedal and take it through its paces. I wish you could have done this pedal with a clean strat. I have one strat with tex-mex and one with pure vintage original '59's. use the ibenez os-9 on both and a blues jr III
High gain amp tones start at 24:45
Yeah just what I'm looking for with an overdrive.
Great sound, too bad this isn't out until April though.
Hang on why is Rabea's clean already dirty...
is there any possibility to create a version with options to automatically change the types of the nine timbres? Example: using a Red Remote to select available Ts modes?
this is perfect since I cant seem to decide what overdrive I want.
It is 9 Tube Screamers, so you must want a Tube Screamer.
but what one its a tough choice
Channeling some Audley Freed @ 15:34...sweet
Man have u ever thought about doing a review of the boss gt100 processor? I know it is an old one but i m sure plenty of us have them. I think that would be pretty fun and usefull. Let s see what tones u can dial on that haha
Jesus!!! BEA pleas show us how you play that awesome lick at 15:35 :-O
Sounds to good to be true
Hello, could you make a JHS The Bonsai vs Chase Bliss Brothers comparaison please? :D
That TS 10 mode also sounds like what John Fuscante from Red Hot Chilli Peppers used on his Strat.
I don't get these kind of pedals, how can you have 9 different circuits in one box of this size?
I was just wondering about this pedal the other day. Sounds great!
the17min one is the scratch!
Awesome vid! Pickups on your strat?
Shootout between the precision drive and your maxon??
Great video. Do you have a wooden pedal board?
This pedals are super , best colors , good for our eyes .but, the sounds ,......mom are mad about it....
Hey Bea, can i use the slave out of my amp and run it into my interface and use the twonotes IR software in my daw to get cab tones?... (I will still have my 4x12 hooked up of course)
This or the Wild Fro pedal for a Strat ?
Do you give lessons on shredding ?
Can you compare JHS sounds to Boss OD-20?
By the time you got to the mid point of the demo... I already knew I have to have it.. thanks Rabbi (teacher)
Do not refer to the goyim as Rabbi
Anyone knows y the bridge PU on a strat is offset? Its probably inherited from ye olde tele but I never figured out the reasoning behind it.
Hey Bea! Got a question if your able to answer, if your primary amp was something like v40 slightly cleaning, what distortion pedal would you use for that high gain, really tight, mid pushed sound you get with the kraken? Anyone welcome to comment to help me out!
When the rest of footballers are streaming while not playing, Marcelo tries out guitar pedals.
I like the little riff at 12:34. Is it from a song or just something random?
Rabea, you oppinion.. Jvm410H or Victory 130??
How does this pedal affect a distortion pedal’s sound ? Will it tighten it up like it did with the amp ?
I have one pushing a REVV G4 and it tightens the distortion up very well. drive off, volume at 12 o'clock, and tone at 2 o'clock. I run into a cab sim and it sounds great.
Hi Rabea! What's strato model is this?? Thanks
Does it really matter what interface is used in recording? Will it effect the tone?
Hamad Al Mutawa it’ll definitely affect the end result and how you hear it.
Besides I’m proud to use these pieces of gear and I’ll always promote them alongside the products I’m reviewing... just because :)
Model of strat?????
